Disclaimer: Late review! How do I not have a review! Shame on me! We made an impromptu reservation at Huncho House. We got to the restaurant and were welcomed to a sign that read, "make our way to 1123". Thank goodness it's directly across the street. We walked into 1123 and they honored the entire experience as if they were Huncho House, complimentary champagne, yay; nothing was amiss. We were able to order off the Huncho House menu which I was happy about because that is where we wanted to dine. For those that don't know, Huncho House is a little treasure in the College Park area. Everything is always good and Chef Tobias menu never misses! Let's get into it! Deviled Eggs - They put a fried shrimp on top! These are a fave! Wagyu Cheesesteak Egg Rolls - OMG good! Oyster Rockefeller- Delicious! Chicken Parmigiana- Fantastic! Lamb Chops - Full of flavor! Filet Mignon - Soft, seasoned to perfection! Crab Oscar - perfect touch! Sides: Must do Lobster Mash, Crab Mac and Cheese! A fan of anything Chef Tobias! Come you WILL not be disappointed!

Huncho House was the first stop on my DC food tour. Me and seven of my friends flew to DC for the "DC food experience" we've heard so much about and HH did not disappoint. The ambiance was beautiful. We made reservations and due to the traffic we weren't aware of, we weren't going to make our reservation time. We called the restaurant and asked if we could move our time and they allowed us to. TOP TIER SERVICE and we hadn't even arrived yet. Once we arrived we were escorted to our table. I loved the welcoming champagne that was brought to our table. That was a wonderful touch. Our waitress was so cute, bubbly and very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered our drinks. I ordered a Espresso Martini and it was delicious. We also ordered the Deviled eggs. The Lobster Rigatoni, Lamb Chops and the mac and cheese. Everything was amazing. Chef Tobias is doing his big one with this restaurant. Good vibes, great drinks, delicious food. I'll definitely be back.

Finally made it to Huncho house (it's merged with his other restaurant 1123 currently) still very good, service and quality of the food.

    Strawberry cream cheese French toast

Decided to go for Mother's Day. My reservation was for 4pm. It was still the brunch menu, and they were out of a lot of their menu items. I decided on the stuffed strawberry cream cheese French toast, 5/10. sadly disappointed due to only squiggling squirts of cream cheese on the plate and not in the French toast. The price was rather high for fried bread. I was looking forward to their regular menu. The drinks were definitely a 10/10. We were placed in a back room but the service was great, we just felt a little rushed. I will give it a try again, maybe in the future.

The food and the server were great. We came with a party of 6. There was a lot of energy in the place. It matched the energy of our party because we just wanted to have a fun Friday. Very nice interior. We got the jerk chicken lollipops, Mac and cheese, crab cakes and steak. We also got complimentary champagne, maybe because of our party size? We weren't rushed. Our reservation was for 7:45 and we got out at 10:15. The conversation was good so we didn't mind. The only bad part is that the food and drinks didn't all come out at once. Some people got their drinks and apps before others, but it wasn't long gaps in between. It didn't ruin the experience. A tip is to ask the price for the items that do not have price tags by them. It's not what you think so it's better to be clear. For example, we were debating the snapper, which looked good, but was $75 and did not have the price listed. I didn't expect that and it made us change our mind. Don't assume!

I am soooo happy I gave this restaurant another chance. I was able dine there with some new friends who got great reservations. Everything was great. The hostess at the front greeted us kindly and offered us complimentary glasses of champagne. We were seated immediately. Our waitress, Shakira, was AMAZING!!! Give her a RAISE!!! She was attentive and gave great recommendations. She took pictures of me at the end of the night. She was so sweet and made Our girls night out even better! We had our APPS: shrimp, egg rolls, and deviled eggs: delicious. Our MAINS: I had the salmon fried rice with the crab mac and cheese. Soooo good! I ordered the lavender lemon drop. Very nice! Lastly, I tasted my friend's cheesecake. Absolutely divine!!!! My final rating is for the decor: View the pics. It's absolutely beautiful and very cozy because it's a smaller venue from it's sister restaurant 1123. 5 stars, 10/10 MINUS NOTHING!!!!!!!!

3.5 star rounded up. Though the servers have good customer service, the amount of wait time from walking into the building is a bit excessive. 10-15 minute wait with a reservation (we were given complimentary champagne). Multiple tables having to flag down any waiter just to get service. Very small restaurant and the tables are low + fairly close together. As for the food, I would give it 5 stars. The crab stuffed oysters were absolutely incredible and make me wait to visit again for those alone! Some meals seemed a little too simple for the prices, but the variety was good and the bites we had were delicious.

Honestly this place is very cute. Welcoming entrance with a small glass of champagne (very good btw). Charbroiled oysters: 9/10 Spicy Lobster Mezi Rigatoni: 8.8/10 Highly recommend!!

Before arriving at the restaurant we got a phone call stating the restaurant was temporarily CLOSED and operating down the street at 1123 restaurant. That was a bit odd but we went with it. I reviewed the menu before arriving as well. When we arrived at the restuarant, it was indeed down the street but we found out that Huncho House joined with another restuarant called Solo's Den and they renamed the restaurant 1123. Upon arriving we received a sip of champagne (yes just a sip tasting) complimentary of course. The "new temporary" location was more spacious than the original location which was okay but the table were close together. Where if you got up you have to excuse yourself for touching or being over other customers table. We received the menus and they nothing like menu we saw online. Since Huncho merged with Solo's Den to create 1123 the menu is not Asian African infusion that also comes with a sushi menu. Now the food..we ordered the deviled eggs with fried chicken thighs and hot honey and cheesesteak fusion rolls for the appetizer. My friend she ordered the whole branzino dish and I ordered the Asian steak (that is the name of the dish) medium with mushrooms and garlic mash potatoes for the sides. Unfortunately when my steak was served at the table it was well done. I let the waitress know my steak was not cooked to medium and she took it back to the chef. They did prepare another steak which came out cooked correctly the second time. Since I was not drinking I ordered the Hibiscus Mule which was tasty. The service was okay overall but it was alittle slow. The waitress and staff were slow to fill water glasses and drink orders. We literally saw the bar staff standing around behind the bar talking doing nothing through out our time there. Also the serving staff was moving too fast causing spillage off of plates onto the tables and into drinks. Lastly we asked the staff how long they were going to be in that location temporarily and they stated they didnt know because the other location has HVAC issues. My overall experience was just okay, but if Huncho has indeed merged with Solo's Den to create 1123, why keep the other Huncho house menu on the website because now if you arrived you will be confused and disappointed because customers are not seeing the same menu or prices.

Wow! I'm so glad I finally booked the restaurant. I've been a fan of his from Food Network. Had co-workers in town from down south. They appreciated the friendly staff, ambiance, and delicious food. So happy to see Tobias there and working after his injury last year. Would definitely recommend the cheesesteak eggrolls, short rib, brussel sprouts, and lobster ravioli. Table next to us had deviled eggs that looked delish also.

My friend and I chose this restaurant in support of Black History Month because the owners are black! The restaurant was very good but I would have made some small changes to make the experience great. The oysters my friend got were really good. The flavors were spot on. My shrimp was cool I just personally wish it was spicier and the batter crispier. The lobster pasta was very good flavor wise, perfect level of spiciness, I would have just changed my noodles because they were chewy. As far as service, it did take a while to get seated despite us having reservations. They did offer us complimentary champagne during the wait which was nice. The food delivery was a little slow but not terrible. My only real complaint is the seating. It's a small restaurant so the tables are very close together and the seats are also really low to the ground. My friend and I have long legs and our legs at the end of dinner were very stiff! I think the restaurant is on the right track they just have to make a few small tweaks.

We had a reservation for 7:30pm we were greeted with complimentary champagne. And we waited 10 minutes to be seated. Restaurant is small but it has a nice ambiance. We were seated a nice young man asked us if we wanted water. We waited 17 minutes for our waitress. We both ordered cocktail laugh now cry later we both rate it 8.5 it has a good taste and the buzz creeps up on you. We both had two. Appetizers crab fried devil eggs it was a special $28, 10/10. Entrees I got the lamb chops and bae got salmon & crab fried rice. Plus we ordered sides lobster potatoes & Brussels sprouts. We both rate the Brussels sprouts 9.5/10 & lobster mash potatoes 9.5/10. My lamb chops were 10/10 & bae salmon was hot but her crab fried rice was cold 8/10. We ordered cheesesteak egg rolls And oysters to go. Overall the service was good the food was good so se give the restaurant 8/10.

Okay I'm a Lil' late with this review, forgive me. Myself and wife dined here for our anniversary dinner, it was her choice, and man this place is nice, always packed, it's best to make reservations in advance + it's black-owned and operated. The atmosphere, ambience, and service was 10++ and the food was amazing. The only thing is the parking situation, which was you can park on the street, which is difficult finding a space; then their is a local garage across and up the street just a bit. It's like a 2-5 minute process. Other than that I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves fine dining.

    Is this restaurant reservation only?

Yes it is which is sometimes limited due to being booked weeks in advance.

How is the bar seating? That's the only option we can find for seating at this time.

There are three main areas; high top tables next to the bar, the main dining area and 2 to 3 bar seats facing the kitchen. I personally would wait until the main dining area opens up. The place is pretty small.

What are the requirements for the chef's table and what, if anything, is included with making a reservation for that area?

Chef's table (as of most recent), is seating at the kitchen counter-which is bar height, and facing the kitchen. It includes a shot with the head chef (of that night), personal waiter, and observing the "behind the scenes" look at the kitchen. No… Read more

Is there a bar or is a reservation required?

There is a bar, but it's not for patrons. It's for the staff to put in and retrieve drink orders. Reservations are needed.

We had the Chicken Ceasar salad (8/10) and Braised Short ribs (8/10). The salad was a standard salad and the short ribs were tender. I enjoyed the short ribs with the mashed potatoes and substituted the brussel sprouts with broccoli. I think the broccoli could've been seasoned to improve. We both had two of their $10 specialty cocktails. Both were excellent.

Everyone greeted us with a smile and offered help as needed. Great hospitality The ambiance is simply unmatched! I felt like I was dining in a beautiful garden home, tucked away from the bustling DC streets. It was peaceful, scenic, and pleasant for date night. I loved the decor! For drinks we ordered: The Terence Espresso Martini- named after a regular at the restaurant, this espresso martini has a fun twist which includes chocolate and cane syrup. It was not sweet at all and oh so delightful to try. From Oaxaca with Love- my boyfriend loved this! He said that the balance between smokiness and spiciness made this a drink worth ordering over and over again. Strawberry lemonade- refreshing and not sweet at all. The only bitterness to this drink is that you are charged $8 extra for the strawberries because this is apparently regular house lemonade which was infused. A little costly sending this single drink over $20-not expected. We had to try the Chef's Choice because very few places offer such a steal at this price. The joy to the deal is that you get to choose how many courses you can enjoy by simply keeping the orders going. We tapped out early because the servings were very generous and some of the dishes swept away our appetite and tummy space lol First: Roasted Oyster (not on menu)- this was a new dish and a creative way to indulge in this aphrodisiac. The oysters were charred to perfection and the accompanying butter lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, turnips, kimchi, and jalapeño made for a fun wrap. The flavors all complemented each other well-I hope this stays on the menu! Chicory Caesar Salad- what a divine salad! Mouthwatering and fresh. There were some crunchy and savory moments while trying it as the Parmesan cheese was evenly distributed throughout the dish. Parker house roll- this roll can go up against any other rolls and win in softness and taste! The spring green garlic butter added another layer to the taste, making this one of the best rolls I've ever had. Second: Ricotta Cavatelli + Little Neck Clams- SO divine. Just when you thought that you met a few favs, here comes this delicious dish. The cook on the Ricotta Cavatelli was perfecto! And the clams, gosh the clams were so so sooooo good. The sauce seeping throughout the dish was dangerously delicious, not too salty. Roasted asparagus- another added favorite and the best asparagus I've had. The cook on this dish was perfection!!!! It wasn't soggy as some asparagus could be but these rather large asparagus had just the right crunch in each bite and the accompanying aioli sauce was scrumptious! Lemon + Thyme Roasted Pennsylvania Chicken- Sadly this was a miss for us and part of that was because we weren't too fond of the taste. There wasn't much flavor profile to carry the chicken but we did enjoy those delicious white kidney beans which were added. Third: A moment of silence please as both of these dishes were award winning!!!!! Served at the same time, we made it a little meal inside the meal and could not stop talking about both dishes. "Autumn Olive Farms" BBQ Pork Chop- the cook on this pork chops could only be mastered by an extraordinary chef! It was divine! Perfectly cooked and bursting with juicy flavors! Gosh this was some incredible pork chops. Cauliflower Risotto- another star! Dangerously good! Just the right cook on the risotto and the cheesiness you could appreciate! The grilled cauliflower was an added touch, making this dish memorable! We concluded our Chef's Choice with "Moon Valley Farm" Carrot Cake. This wasn't too sweet and was a subtle way to end an amazing dining experience. Parking is a bit tough as majority of the surrounding area is residential so it was hard to find parking. Nonetheless, please don't let that stop you from experiencing the beauty of this restaurant and the amazing food that they offer!

At first I was disappointed when I saw they took off my favorite appetizer, so I ordered the Cripsy Calamari Appetizer instead. So as I am waiting my waitress had stopped by twice to ask me if I was ready to put in my entree and every-time I had to tell her no as I haven't even gotten my appetizer yet. This rubbed me the wrong, I felt like I was being rushed and that didn't make sense as this was on a Thursday at 1 pm and the restaurant was practically empty. Now the patio seating was lovely and I truly enjoyed basking in the sun while sipping on my Sauvignon Blanc, I have so many memories from DTS and it was nice to be in the area again. Anyways my Appetizer came and it was sooo good. I loved the fried jalapeños in the mix it really gave a nice kick to my Calamari. I decided to order the Shrimp Tempura Roll which is a new addition to the menu but whew this is where it went left. It was NOT good, drenched in sauce and fish eggs ... and the presentation of the roll looked sloppy and rushed especially considering one roll didn't even have Shrimp in it. There was barely any cucumber inside ... on top of all that they still gave me side dippings too... I ate 1 roll and it was nasty and too much. When I told my waitress I didn't like it and explained why she just said ok and walked away. It was very clear to me she did not care and so it's very clear to me that I won't be going there ever again.

My group of 5 enjoyed a variety of their drinks and dishes, sharing 3 appetizers, enjoying 5 entrees, and indulging in two of their desserts. I started off with an alcoholic Mai Thai. Food wise, I had their grilled oysters, brussel Cesar, fried chicken curry dish, trifle dessert, and sorbet. As a non-seafood person, it was a big deal for me to try their oysters. I started slow with just their grilled oysters. They were drowning in garlic and butter, so it was hard not to like. The Brussel cesar was also a solid shareable. I appreciated that the salad did not come drenched in dressing. The curry friend chicken was phenomenal! The chicken fell of the bone so easily and was so crispy, moist, and overall outstanding. The curry and impossible rice paired perfectly with it. Finally, the desserts! I could have eaten two of the trifle dessert...it was smooth, creamy, and the perfect amount of sweet. It was everyone's favorite between the two. The sorbet was good, but I found the white chocolate a little weird/awkward since it was sitting around a bunch of cold sorbet...didn't melt or mesh well with the dish. We ordered the crab and shrimp ceviche, a sourdough/goat cheese/ricotta dish, salmon crudo, seafood stew, branzino, oysters and my drink was yummy too! also got butter noodles for the kiddo, the restaurant was child friendly. i believe my cocktail was called a heartache. Beautiful presentation of the food. Oysters and crudo were phenomenal and i truly enjoyed everything i ate! I'll definitely be back when I'm in the DMV.

I did an online order for pickup so i didnt get to interact with anyone or the space. I ordered the harvest bowl but customized it to my liking. To my harvest bowl I added spicy broccol, pickled onions, avocado, i replaced the goat cheese with parmesan and removed the balsamic vigera for the Lime Cilantro Jalapeno Vinaigrette, spicy cashew sauce, and green goddess ranch on the side. My salad was so good, I needed some privacy. It was also a good amount of food. I couldn't finish my food, so I actually saved half of it to eat an hour later :). Honestly, no matter which one I go to I am always satisfied with the care they put into each of the ingredients and recipes. I can always count on it to be a consistent and healthy meal. Food: I don't remember what I got from this location but it SLAPPED! I think it was a local Protein plate! Yummy! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. *Parking: There's plenty of parking considering it's on a college campus!
