Posting this review to highlight two things here: the consistently delicious frozen margaritas and the Camarones Tequila dish. Listen, the sauce in this dish is so good. They just need more veggies so that you can really have your way with the sauce. Skip the guac... it needs more avocado and flavor. The Tamal de Elote is also very yummy. Ate it too fast, forgot to take a pic. The service is great, there are plenty of waitstaff floating around. The parking lot can get crowded but there's plenty of parking across the street if needed. Ambiance is fun. It's super loud in the restaurant, partially because of the plethora of Happy Birthday performances with the instruments and all. Honestly, just join in the singing and clapping. Decided to come to Chidos for HH since I had a class in the area. HH is from 1-6pm and since I had a late day at the office, I was pressed for time. I looked at the menu ahead of time and my homegirl sent me pictures to confirm. This way I already knew what I wanted (flautas & passionfruit margs) I came in, sat down and waited for a bartender to acknowledge our look my way so I could order. I was able to get my order in just in time and informed them I'd need a refill before it was over. My flautas came out as two taquitos cut in half and I just laughed. Barely any lettuce piled on top with sour cream and salsa on the side. Really, two tortillas rolled around chicken and cheese. It was hilarious. It was just barely much food at all and I didn't want to try anything else so just asked for my refill. Check came and got charged full price. When I asked about it, I was given a smart response and told they wouldn't take it off again like they were doing me a favor or I was trying to get over SMH They're lucky that passionfruit marg was hitting or it would have been challenging to go back. read more

This was one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever visited! The food was absolutely delicious, the service was exceptional, and the restaurant was spotless. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and made my entire family feel right at home. Every aspect of our experience exceeded our expectations. I shared with Victor, the manager, that we come here every year to celebrate my special needs daughter, who just turned 33. She absolutely loves when the staff sings "Happy Birthday," and it's one of the highlights of her year. Came here with some friends. Open surface parking lot, free. We didn't have a reservation but it was easy enough to get a table (booth) for 6 on a Friday evening. Booth was comfortable. I didn't have much, but the table chips & salsa was good. We ended up sharing a pitcher of Cadillac Margarita ($63) and regular Mango Margarita ($50) since we were all getting marg's anyway. These were all more than enough to share between 4 people. The Mango was good, the Cadillac was strong! I ordered Shrimp Tacos ($16). I don't think they were on the menu, but they were provided. 3 Tacos with salsa, guacamole & lettuce on the side. It always came with a bowl of brown beans and yellow rice. Good. more like a 3.5ish. we enjoyed our meal at Chido's. we went mid afternoon and it was busy considering the off hours. the chips and salsa were good (salsa a little runny, but tasty). we started with empanadas, which were really done well. the dipping sauce they came with was delicious - almost like a pickled or fermented sauce with herbs and finely diced onion. wasn't for my husband but i couldn't get enough of it! i had a combo plate, and got a beef enchilada and beef chile relleno. the relleno was flavorful (i LOVE cilantro) and the enchilada was done well. very cheese heavy, but that's never a bad thing in my book. expect VERY big portions. my husband found an eggshell in his rellenos, which was a bit of a disappointment. while i enjoyed mine, he indicated they weren't prepared as he expected. i found the flavors right, but i'm not usually very picky. our waitress was attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed and not too overwhelming (it's a big restaurant, this might be different at night with a full house). overall decent experience! read more

Apparently I'm new to the fact that Chido's has the vibes. I met up with some friends on a Saturday, and the place was packed. We had to wait about 30 min for a table, but it wasn't too bad after that. We shared a Frozen blackberry and regular Margarita pitcher which was surprisingly strong considering it was being split between 4 people (suggestion: you only need 1)! The frozen blackberry was definitely a hit! For dinner we had Salmon en Salsa Caribe and Carne Asada, while friends had Chicken Quesadilla & Ceviche - only complaint being the ceviche did not come with chips or something to scoop with. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants and when I used to live in Laurel, I would go here regularly. The food and the vibes are always on 1000 and they throw one of the best Cinco de Mayo events in Maryland. We ordered drinks and we ordered the tower with premium liquor. I want to say maybe 4 of us shared it and we at least got 2 cups out of it. I also had a frozen margarita. I'm a fan of the fried bronzino with plantain, beans and avocado salad. The fish was borderline of over cooked but made the cut. The beans have a little flavor as well. The servers are attentive and pleasant. The salsa tastes fresh with good flavor but has more juice than substance. As soon as you park in the lot you can smell the food. This place was pretty spacious and it was busy, but the service was really good. We were served chips and salsa as soon as we sat down. It was pretty good. For drinks we had the sangria and a pina colada. They were both really good but the pina colada was my favorite. For entres we had the carne asada and the mar y Tierra. Both came with rice and beans and tortillas. Everything was delicious! The beans were really good and the flour tortillas seem homemade and a great pairing with the meal. I enjoyed the Lomo Saltado and salad, we were there to meet some friends and the environment was just right for a great conversation without any loud background noises. There was a birthday gathering that had the employees banging on loud pots and pans which was similar to a mariachi, but not quite as nice, a real mariachi singer and instruments would have been really good. Came in with a party of 4 for Happy Hour. The tables in the HH section of the bar are extremely small and cannot accommodate drinks and food plates for four people. We asked to combine two tables for more space and were denied. Asked for a larger table in the main area but they do not accommodate Happy Hour in their main area. My mom and I decided to go and we can surely say we were NOT disappointed! The food had a great flavor to them, service was quick and easy, and the ambiance of the bar area, where we always sit at, is such a vibe and a fun time. Can't believe this was my first time at Chido's. This will now be my go to for good Mexican food & Drinks as well as a food vibe. The restaurant is huge and has two sides to choose from. There's the bar area which is a bit small compared to the size of the restaurant, and then there's the main dining area which is huge. We sat in the main dining area since the bar was packed on a Thursday evening. They have different specials throughout the week and offer what looked to be a decent HH. The fajitas were two thumbs up and so were the margaritas. If it's two or more people I'd recommend getting a pitcher. read more

( I must add they did not charge me for the tacos because I did not like them)... pic has one missing where I tried to enjoy, but couldn't. Steak and Eggs (brunch item).... I ordered the sample platter- the taquito and quesadilla were tasty, but the wings were so salty it was to the point it was inedible. We arrived after 8pm on a Friday night. Parking lot was packed! We were told it would be a 20 minute wait for a table for two. I don't think we waited more than 10 minutes. After being seated, we were greeted by the server quickly for our drink order. Chips and a BOWL of salsa quickly followed (thank you. My husband never leaves me any salsa). I ordered a combination plate with a beef enchilada, chile relleno with beef, and a chicken tamale. My favorite was the enchilada... meat was tender (not ground) in a rich sauce. Tamale was least favorite. I like my cornmeal to have some texture. This almost looked like play dough. I didn't have room to try the rice and beans, but look forward to the leftovers. Extremely loud and very popular for birthdays. We saw at least six tables with servers singing. Service was attentive and friendly. My go to place. Margaritas are always a hit. Chicken is always fried too hard for my liking here. The one in Silver Spring fries their chicken perfect. However the ambience here is awesome and service is typically good but the music is super loud, almost unbearable. They turn the music down when you play rap on the jukebox but they blast the music when it's Latino. That's an issue for me so I've scaled back on this spot because I've noticed that. The staff was very friendly, but the food...the food was A few days ago, my family of four ordered cviche, calamari, shrimp quesadillas, the seafood burrito, seafood enchiladas, and the beef and pork tacos. There wasn't a single thing we didn't like. Everything was very flavorful, hot, and well prepared. This last part might not sound like a big deal, but because we drank so much we thought it would be a good idea to hit the restroom before heading out. IT WAS SPOTLESS!!!
