Negril Negril, you got to do better, you guys can't be charging $9.45 for a large soup, and giving people 2 tiny , bite sized dumplings and ah set ah long water. Flour not that expensive, give people proper dumplings inna Dey soup. Service always exceptional and the ambience is clean and welcoming,

I've been skipping over this place for a while but I'm glad I finally decided to stop in. The food was extremely flavorful I just wish the curry chicken pattie had a lil more filling. Other than that I have 0 complaints. Highly recommend

    My yummy beef patty sandwich

Negril is my go-to Jamaican/Island food spot whenever I'm visiting my family. It's in the Laurel Shopping Center which is nearby. Although there's a LA Fitness gym and Marshalls a few doors away, you'll be able to find parking. The parking fairy is on your side. ;-D When I'm on the go, my favorite grab-n-gos are the slice of moist rum/carrot cake, homemade sorrel drink with the right amount of sweetness, and/or hot cripsy beef patty w/ soft warm coco bread in a sandwich (learned this method from my NY cousins). Always make me feel IRIE! One of these days, I'll have time to dine in for the main dishes. Based on my overall experience, the service is usually quick and the staff very welcoming. I highly recommend for you to try Negril if you're into or drawn to Caribbean comfort food. Enjoy!!

Hey friends! Some chain restaurants tend to be hit or miss, but Negril is always consistent! And as a picky eater, I appreciate consistency lol. I order a shrimp patty, coco bread, and a curry shrimp entree. The shrimp patty was crispy and flavorful. Coco bread was warm and buttery. O-M-G, the star of show was the curry shrimp. I could taste the freshness of the shrimp and the curry sauce was perfect. Rice was perfectly cooked. Only critique is that the cabbage was a little too soft. Service was friendly, I was greeted when I walked in. It took about 20 mins for the curry shrimp entree, so I recommend calling ahead or ordering online. They have a convenient online/phone order pickup station with your first name displayed. Inside is small with a few tables to dine in at. I recommend Negril if you're in Laurel!

I always enjoy the food at Negril. In my opinion it's one of the better Caribbean food chains. Food is always good. I usually go with the curry chicken, but switched it up this time. The location in laurel has never disappointed from a service standpoint. Always efficient and friendly. On this visit, the only issue was that I ordered the jerk chicken wing meal, but got the jerk chicken meal. Not a huge deal, but was looking forward to trying the wings.

I ordered from here numerous of times the food is always good .. the spicy jerk sauce on the side is always flavorful as well it has a nice bite to it

And when it comes to CaribeExpress I'll admit they shocked me at how their curry goat platter separated them from the rest of the other outstanding Caribbean Cuisine Establishments. From my first taste of the curry goat, I was highly impressed with the texture and flavor of the rice & goat. The sauce blended everything together perfectly and left me savoring every single forkful. Their seasoning game is second to none and the way they cook their curry down tells me that the chef takes pride in every meal he or she prepares. The cabbage was delicious on its own and with the curry potatoes mixed in ( which always gives the curry dishes an extra umph to me ) the meal reached the perfection plateau !!! It might as well been cooked by Asians. Those that know, to properly cook snapper - slits are cut at an angle to rub in the seasonings - that was not done so the snapper was VERY bland. The bland sauce didn't help - I don't think they had scotch bonnet simmering in the stew at all - it appeared seasoned but nah just specks on the surface. I'm quite mad as this was dinner and for almost 30$ take-out is egregious work. Also, why are Caribbean spots stingy on the plantains - which aren't expensive - they only gave me 2 pieces. FTR...it would've been more rice & peas but I asked for less (a carb thing).

The chicken was cooked on the grill--which I love--because it really brings out the flavor in jerk chicken. I also requested my jerk sauce on the side since I prefer a dry rub style over a saucy one. The only drawback was the small bone pieces in the chicken and rice. That's something to be cautious about, especially if a child is eating the meal. The plantains were also inconsistent--some pieces were hard, while others were mushy. On the bright side, the coco bread was perfect and the Jamaican rum cake was phenomenal. Whoever baked that cake clearly took their time soaking it in rum. It reminded me of the way my grandmother used to make it--absolutely delicious. I would definitely order the rum cake again.

At heart, I'm a man that truly enjoy most Caribbean dishes ( oxtails, goat, curry/jerk chicken,…read moreroti, etc ) So, I set out on a quest to give a new Caribbean cuisine restaurant a shot at winning me over. That's when I bumped into Caribbean Dish... The name got me, yes it's basic, but the title was exactly what I was looking for. The restaurant is in a small unassuming parking lot... if you don't know it's there, you probably will miss it ( so glad I didn't !! ) The minute I walked in, I felt authentic family vibes ( something I look for when choosing my Caribbean locations ) The service was very friendly, and they cleared everything up when I wasn't sure if my particular craving could be fulfilled ( the combo I desired wasn't on their daily menu ) My sights were set on the oxtail and curry goat combo ( of course with rice & peas and veggies ! ) And when I say the goat was tender, and seasoned to perfection... while the oxtails had that juicy meatiness that will for sure keep me coming back. The rice & peas were cooked just right ( texture was on point ) and the veggies still had that freshness that brought everything else together. I love my Caribbean dishes saucy and not dry ( they get two thumbs up in that department ! ) Family vibes, cheerful greeting, and amazing food.... Caribbean Dish you just locked yourself in a loyal customer !!!!! Give them a shot and I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed !!!

Music was playing but it wasn't super loud, I could actually hear my conversation. We came for happy hour and had the jerk wings, pork buns, and the crab accras. Everything came out piping hot. You can tell the food was made with love and passion, delicious. Our waiter, Tim was so knowledgeable. He spoke about the food like he was invested. The excitement in his voice when we spoke about how much we loved the food was cool! He even recommended that we try one of their sister restaurants. We will be back for sure.

So my threshold for Caribbean food is pretty high, and you would think with the prices of things on their menu it would be a hit. It wasn't. To start, the ambiance was amazing! It was a beautiful space. Beautifully decorated. I loved the pops of emerald across the space. They didn't have a table for 4 available when we went. So we sat at the bar. The hostess did inform us at the time that they were short staffed so the wait time may be a little excessive. We understood and took the seats anyway. We had just missed happy hour, which was a bummer. But the people i was with wanted to order food. So i ordered my 1 and only drink. I tried some of the food that was ordered. I first tried the brisket... uhm... lol. Let's just say it tasted more like roast than brisket. It was very saucey, tender and fatty. But the flavor was missing something. It had a twinge of sweetness on the backhand. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't what i expected. The black rice was also just okay. I love me some Haitian food, but this wasn't that. lol. It was a bit spicy on the backend which i didn't hate. But that was probably my favorite bite of the night. The drinks were good. They were pretty standard to see my bill for my one drink come out to a whopping $30!! And i live in NYC and have NEVER paid that much for a drink... i was shocked and appalled lol. I didn't get anything extra added.. so the sidecar extra charge definitely threw me for a loop, and that's when i realized it was time to go. Would i recommend, uhm... maybe. It's definitely not a must like they claim on socials. It's okay food and drinks. But they can definitely improve. 3/5. See pics below
