The food portions are large but fries were a bit salty. I loved the quiet and spacious interior and the service was wonderful. I will definitely return and try something else from the eclectic menu.

We try to come once a month here. Delicious Jamaican food. I had the curry chicken roti last time ( didn't take pic) which was huge! Recently I had chicken stew in a bowl with veggies and Mac and cheese. The chicken is dripping with excellent curry flavors and the Mac and cheese was in point!! Price is great for the amount of food you get. The ambience is because there's reggae music and service was on point. Not table service

Hey friends! I had an intense craving for some great mac & cheese. I had it years ago at the Waldorf location and decided to try this closet location. I ordered the veggie platter. You're allowed to choose any 3 combination of sides. Some sides are an additional charge such as the Mac & cheese. I ordered rice and peas, Mac and cabbage. I also ordered potato salad as an extra side. Everything thing was delicious. The Mac and cheese was perfect as always. Rice and peas had an authentic flavor. Cabbage was seasoned well. Only distaste is I wished the potatoes in the potato salad were boiled a little longer, they were a little hard. I ordered on UberEats, so no details to provide on customer service, parking etc. I'll be ordering here regularly. Hope you enjoy! With love, The Picky Pescatarian.

I was shopping in the mall when I decided to check this black owned restaurant out from my Yelp list. The restaurant was clean and I was immediately greeted upon entering. Jamaican music was playing as well in the background. I pondered over the menu for a bit and finally decided on the oxtail dinner with a side of Mac and cheese. After my order was ready, I went back to order my husband a jerk chicken dinner because what is he going to eat. When I got home I was ready to jump right into my oxtail dinner however, it was a complete miss for me. The oxtail was bland, lacked flavor and seasoning. The Mac & cheese was pretty good. The restaurant has plenty of space inside and outdoor seating as well. The restaurant is located on the outside of the mall along with other businesses. Parking is apart of the mall parking lot which gets super busy on weekends. I may need to come back to try another menu item sometime in the distant future.

Carribbean/Jamaican food is one of my favorites but it can be hit or miss as I've tried a few other places in the past in malls and they were pretty bad. I wasn't sure what to expect here but yes, pleasantly surprised. It's kind of like a Caribbean/Jamaican Chipotle as you order at the counter and pick a bowl/salad/roti, then pick your protein, and 2 sides plus options for sauces. I go with the Brown Stew Chicken bowl with rice and peas and plaintain. The wife goes with her mainstay, Curry Chicken with a salad and peas and rice. You get a good amount of food as it isn't cheap ($16 for the bowl). The food is legit...I don't get to Columbia Mall that often but plan on coming back for sure. A few notes - 1. You can ask for gravy on your rice and peas so ask for it. 2. The spicy sauce is good but I liked the Rude Boy. The BBQ sauce is a bit sweet but pretty good as well. 3. The restaurant is located in the outdoor square area with several restaurants and not in the mall (behind Maggiano's). Google Maps may take you to the other side of the mall which is what happened to us.

The food was better than I thought it would be, and you get a good-sized serving. I had curry chicken, which came with peas, rice, plantain, and a fountain soda. The cost was $20, which I thought was a bit pricey for what I ordered. The service was very good, and the store ambiance was casual.

I was in the area after a retwist appointment and originally planned to grab seafood, but the place I wanted to visit was closed. Not wanting to wait around, I decided to try something Caribbean, and I'm so glad I did--this spot did not disappoint! The portion sizes were generous, and the price was reasonable for the amount of food. I ordered the oxtails with cabbage, mac and cheese, and coco bread. The oxtails were incredibly tender and seasoned to perfection--literally falling off the bone! The cabbage was well-seasoned and flavorful. The mac and cheese was so good, it reminded me of the homemade version I grew up with in North Carolina--rich and comforting. The only small letdown was the coco bread--it wasn't as soft as I expected and was a bit on the hard side. But overall, I'll definitely be coming back to Dat Jerk again! Since it was my first time here, the young lady taking my order was really patient and helpful. I appreciated her guidance. Also, the space is great--there's plenty of seating inside, plus outdoor seating if you decide to dine in.

Yummy eats at a typical price. The oxtails were flavorful but needed some spice. Mac and cheese was good and the vegetables were buttered up! I loved the music playing and the lighting was great. The business may want to consider displaying deserts, offering spice on the side, and retraining on making roti.

For fast food, this Caribbean place hit the spot! I was at Columbia Mall and had to go in for further investigation as I passed by Dat Jerk. It's a new build space on the upper level of the mall, near the Seasons 52. It's fairly spacious in there with high ceilings. On trend Caribbean music was playing at a reasonable level as I approached the counter. I immediately let the employee waiting for my order know that I'd never been before and didn't know what was what at Dat Jerk. She explained the basic ordering process to me and then I perused the menu. Something about the meatloaf spoke to me, so I got a platter of that with rice and beans and cabbage. I paid and left with the food. Overall I think the food was very good, but I would have preferred that the accompanying sauce had some spice to it...actually A LOT of spice. I'll definitely be back to try some other menu items.

Happy to see Dat Jerk in Columbia! Their menu is so delicious! This location is in a nice spot with a lot of seating and a clean dining room. Today we got curry chicken with rice and peas as well as jerk chicken with Cajun fries and stir fry vegetables. The curry chicken was like a warm hug and it was delicious! The jerk chicken and veggies were also tasty. However the fries came after we finished eating and they weren't very good. The sauces were awesome too. The restaurant gives you a silverware packet with one napkin, salt/pepper, knife and fork. This was slightly annoying as the chicken can be messy and I had to go to the bathroom for a napkin. Also I needed more salt and was out of luck! Please provide these items! Overall good meal and portions.

    Old harbor bay shrimp

Brought my mom here on a Sunday in May and the line was wrapped around the restaurant. My mom and I love Jamaican food so we were eager to try so to me, the line was worth the wait. We ordered curry chicken that came with 2 sides (rice & peas and plantain), oxtails (rice & peas and stir fry vegetables), roti and a 1/2 pound of old harbor bay shrimp. I enjoyed my food but my mom expected more spice and gravy in her oxtails. I'll definitely return to try some other items but on a not-so busy day. They ran out of many beverages, including bottled water. And if you eat outside, there's only 1 way out so if you have to go back in, you have to go through the gate back and around to the main door entrance.

Overall: tasty comfort food, with large portion sizes, pricy and a little slow for a fast casual spot, single-stall gendered restrooms This place was popping on a weekday evening. The line was long and slow, but it looked like most people were getting take out because there were plenty of seats both inside and outside. I was pretty surprised at how slow the line moved since most of the food is premade and they are just putting the items you want on a plate, but the music was fun and I enjoyed that while I waited. The menu was tough to read until you were up close. The serving sizes are huge, but I would say the prices reflected that. It was $18-19 base for a plate and more if you got specialty items or meats, but it was a lot of food. I had the curry chicken, plantains, and Mac and cheese. They were all really good with the big flavor. The curry chicken was super tender, but also wildly salty. I like that they also sell meat by the pound and have family style options. I'll probably be back for that next time, so I can get my protein and carbs from here but my vegetables from home. There are single stall gendered restrooms. The one i went to had no toilet paper when I went.

Crimson Coward (2nd Visit)…read more Came back for a second visit to Crimson Coward and it definitely confirmed why I wanted to give it another try. Food: This time I kept it simple but strategic. I ordered the smash burger combo (only $4.99 to upgrade--great deal), which came with fries and a drink. The burger was stacked with onion, American cheese, pickles, and their signature crimson sauce on a soft brioche bun. Everything worked together--juicy, flavorful, and not overly greasy. I also tried the Quarter Coward (an off-menu item priced at $5.49), got it mild with honey sauce. The chicken was cooked perfectly--tender inside with a nice crisp on the outside. The honey added just enough sweetness to balance the mild heat without overpowering it. Definitely a hidden gem on the menu. Atmosphere: The space is bright, clean, and inviting. I especially liked the open kitchen concept--it gives transparency and lets you see everything being made fresh. Plenty of tables available if you're dining in. Customer Service: You're greeted when you walk in, which I always appreciate. Ordering is primarily done through kiosks, so interaction is minimal unless you need assistance--but the setup is smooth and efficient. Wait Time: Everything is cooked to order, which I don't mind. I placed my order at 3:16 PM and had my food by 3:30 PM, so about a 14-minute wait--pretty reasonable for fresh food. Overall: Solid second experience. Good quality, fair pricing, and consistent execution. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu--especially those off-menu finds

It was a pleasant surprise when I recently googled fried chicken and this location popped up in my search. It has been open for a few months. My husband called in our order while we were driving as the chicken can take awhile since it is made to order. We purchased half a chicken box which consist of four piece chicken (drumstick, breast, wing, thigh), fries, coleslaw, and a slice of bread. Although it took a little longer than normal, it was worth the wait. The fries and chicken were piping hot and crispy. When I bit into the chicken, it was crackling and so hot I had to blow on it. Aside from fried chicken, they also sell fish, wings, sides, and dessert. It's worth noting that their infamous lemon pepper seasoning, often referred to as crack because it's addictive, is available for purchase. My husband was thrilled to see this as the Glen Burnie location does not sell it. When I started taking pictures, one of the owners, Tiger, saw me and started chatting. My husband and I learned that he, his two brothers and his son are the owners of this franchise and that there are 43 locations. I had no idea there were so many. Upon entering, we were met with graffiti inspired artwork on the walls, which was cool. We perused the menu and decided to order. They have different levels of spice for your chicken and decided on an order that was mild (2 sandwich meal) , medium, (2 sandwich meal) and extra hot (I was warned by my daughter to rethink this option, but, alas, I did not heed her warning; 1 tender 1 sandwich meal). They had the spiciest level, reaper, which you have to sign a waiver to purchase, I wasn't that crazy y'all... Food delivery service was available and they had an LED board with which ones each order was under. The service was great with the associates very pleasant at the counter. We also ordered a fruit punch slushy, but it was TOO sweet for me and I couldn't finish it. If you love sweet drinks, this would be the one for you! We were given a buzzer and we didn't wait long for our order to be ready. The orders were accompanied by crinkle cut fries (we got cheese on ours for an extra cost) along with a small container of coleslaw, pickle slices, and Dave's Sauce. The fries were good with that cheese sauce: fresh, crispy, not greasy and the sauce tasting like real cheese. Now....I pride myself on enjoying a good hot spiced item from time to time... but my extra hot tender was not to be played with. I bit into that crispy tender and instantly knew I indeed "bit off more than I could chew!" It was as if that hot spiced item shot through my whole body and I was heated on the inside for about a couple of minutes. I say that to say, if you are not into spicy SPICY, don't go above medium. So glad I chose a medium spice sandwich (yes, you can get different spice levels in your order) because that saved me. The chicken was fresh, with a crispy coating on a fresh bun with Dave's sauce. The pickles were fresh and crisp (my go-to to put out that heat from that extra hot chicken tender!), the coleslaw was fresh and ok. I really don't like sauces like the Dave's sauce on my food, so the next time I will get my sandwich without it. All in all, a nice place for a good chicken sandwich, especially with the cheese fries! Epilogue: I saved the rest of that extra hot tender to eat the next day hoping the spice level had dissipated...but no...it seems as if it intensified...but I still ate it...maybe I'm used to that spice level now...

I don't believe that I've had their food before so I was excited to try it out. I always hear the commercial on the radio as they sing Pollo Campero and I had to make sure I stopped myself from singing that as I walk to the restaurant. I went after work to grab a quick meal coupon in hand. No one was in line so ordering was really quick. I informed the young lady that I wanted to use my four piece coupon Ashley quickly asked me what size did I want. I already knew I wanted to try their plantains and I need a little bit of veggies in my life so I went to coleslaw. She told me it would take about 10 minutes but it was ready in less than five. She gave me my drink and I quickly moved over to pick up my meal. I thank them and left to my car. Of course I couldn't wait to open the box. On the outside Inside the bag was my fried plantains in a cute little cup, see the picture, and a roll. I don't wonder why my coleslaw was not also on the outside because it was cold but I proceeded to open up the box and found out they missed putting my coleslaw inside. The chicken was perfectly browned as you can see in the picture and I quickly grabbed a fork and dug into the thigh. Who doesn't love a juicy fried thigh? I knew I was going to go back in to get my coleslaw because I did need a vegetable but I couldn't stop eating the thigh LOL. I didn't wondered if I had the right box because I thought it included different chicken pieces. I looked at my other coupon and realized it was supposed to be a thigh, breast, wing, and leg. I know I would have tore that wing up. I decided that I would go back and get my coleslaw and then just let them know about the mistake. If something goes down I will update this review but so far so good. Customer service was nice, they are new so maybe they forgot to put in the coleslaw and the right pieces of chicken but it's definitely good to note it and let them know so they can do some quality control checks before handing out food next time. Okay, so I went back in to go get my coleslaw and it was a little difficult explaining to the cashier that they didn't give me the coleslaw originally and I had the wrong pieces of chicken. After explaining to her three times and then telling her what I needed directly, she understood. She also let me know that they did not have wings are brushed at the moment they only had thighs and legs. She still had a good attitude about it and was perceptive. I forgot to mention earlier that I chose horchata up for my drink because I know whenever actually her chapter on the menu I'm going to choose it. The cabbage and the coleslaw was diced and not shredded so that was different. It wasn't very sweet and I like that but it also wasn't very Tangy either. So overall it was okay, it just didn't have a lot of flavor

Tried Pollo Campero for the first time and was impressed! The chicken is flavorful, not too greasy,…read moreand really satisfying. I love that they offer both fried and grilled options, so there's something for everyone. The yucca fries were a standout side, and the portions were generous. Service was quick and helpful even during a busy time. When I went the mall was pretty empty and so decent ambiance. Definitely a step up from your typical fast-food chain and worth a stop if you're in the mood for something flavorful and comforting.

Came to the Columbia Mall location while shopping…read more I've had this chicken before while in College Park, and hoped it was still as tasty. The staff were pleasant the the ambiance was to be expected in a food mall kiosk. I ordered the 4 piece fried chicken with plantains and a drink. The chicken was fried fresh with a great seasoning. The plantains were good and the mango drink was tasty as well. All in, still the same taste as the one in College Park so I will be visiting it again in the future.

7.7.25 My husband…read morewent to pick up lunch for us around 10:15 AM. When he arrived to the mall, he was informed by an employee that they do not open until 11. He told her that online it said that they open at 10. She informed him that she had previously requested that the hours be updated online. She said that although they weren't open that they were cooking the chicken. She took his order early, even though they weren't open yet and offered him a small Horchata while he waited. He ordered four piece chicken, two white and two dark and for the sides, beans and fries. Instead of rolls, he asked for tortillas. When he arrived home instead of the four pieces he purchased, he received five pieces of all dark meat. He dislikes dark meat and was very disappointed. This was our second purchase at this location and is the second time they messed up his order. Although he was upset, I didn't mind since I like dark meat. :) I got two extra pieces since he only ate one piece. Unlike our first visit, the chicken was fresh and piping hot this time. The staff are apparently inattentive as they have not gotten the orders accurate during both visits, however, they made up for it by providing good customer service today (letting my hubby place order early and offering him a horchata while he waited). Given that they don't know the difference between white and dark meat, it is highly recommended that you check your order before leaving if you placed your order for carry out.
