I've been here twice and I have loved the food each time. I ordered shrimp ire pasta, plantain, cocoa bread and a sorell. The first time, there was spinach in the pasta and the second time there was broccoli. The broccoli threw me off especially since I don't eat broccoli. They replaced it. My friend ordered 2 beef patties and curry chicken. The entrees were made to order so the food is FRESH and the portions are not stingy! The staff were all so friendly on both occasions. One of these return visits they will have festival available and I will be an extra excited customer! The atmosphere is very welcoming. It's plain but sitting inside to eat was nice. Husband and son were craving Jamaican and since this was close to his school they decided to give it a try. My husband ordered the oxtail entree with rice and peas, cabbage and fried plantains. My son ordered ackee and saltfish also served with rice and peas, as well as plantains. The restaurants has a few booths and tables if you choose to dine in. Upon entering you are greeted with a dessert case, above is the menu and to your right are various drink selections. According to their review they'd give this location a 4/5. Let's start with the good/food. The food here is decent. So far I have tried the curry goat which is a hit every time 8.5 out of 10; the curry chicken, meh 6 out of 10 (between portion/pieces and the lightness of the gravy you're not missing anything); the jerk chicken is smokey and very tasteful. But a sample size at best 7 out of 10 (the pieces given is comical, I will share a photo); the oxtails skip it 5 out of 10 (the gravy is not thick, too much fat on the oxtail, not tender looks and taste more like a stew); the stew chicken 7 out of 10 seasoned well but again portion size; the Snapper.......3 out of 10; and last but not least I tried the Bake and Saltfish, 6 out of 10 (I don't think it was fresh "fresh", but would try again). Overall 6.5 out of 10. The service is great, I've never had a bad experience. The person at the counter has always been friendly. I would say if you want to order ahead, use the website, sometimes the photo doesn't work properly. I've tried calling while inside and the phone did not ring. Not for the bad and ugly. The food here is very expensive compared to other Caribbean spots. The portion sizes are extremely small. There should is not reason a beef Pattie and CoCo bread is $10. I think it's a price gouge because there are no other Caribbean restaurants in the area. Also, it's unclear whether the food is cooked there or not but when you order most times they'll microwave the food in the plastic container it comes in. A friend recommended this place a while back but I haven't been in the area to give them a try yet. It just so happened that I was working in the area today and had a craving for Caribbean cuisine. I chose to get carry out and noticed you are able to make your online so that was a plus. It gave a 30 min time dram so hopefully that meant my food was being freshly prepared. I orders the Ox Tails over peas and rice. It was quite expensive at over 26 dollars. I know the price on Ox Tail has risen recently with its popularity and I was really craving it, so I decided to take the risk. The restaurant is located in a strip mall on Washington Boulevard that's get pretty busy but there is usually ample parking available. When I went it to pick my order up it was sitting at the front counter. Theo woman there was very nice and I noticed the dining area was empty on a Saturday around lunch time. When I got my order back to work ready to dig in and noticed they did not provide a fork. The food smelled great and looked great. For the price I was expecting a larger portion. I had 5 pieces of Ox Tail. Most did not have much meat on them. There was also not much sauce on them and the little that was there was soaked up by the peas and rice. The Good : The actually restaurant is very nice, always clean, smells nice, just an overall nice setting. There is also amply parking in the parking lot. Customer Service is always good - not great, but they're not rude and are relatively friendly and helpful. The Not So Good : I've gotten Curry Chicken and Chicken Soup, both were very underwhelming, literally little to no taste. A friend of mine has gotten fish both times ( Snapper ) and Shrimp and they were both really good. So I would - though I won't be coming back because their prices are kind of high for the quality of food you get- I would stick with the seafood. The restaurant was nice and clean. The cashier was friendly. What I initially wanted to order (The Cod Fish Fritters), was not available. I ordered a Chick Pea and Spinach patty and a side order of Callaloo. The patty was a bit thin but tasty. The callaloo was a little salty for my taste and I almost choked on the stems which had a lot of them . It was a bit hard for me to enjoy because I had to keep taking them out of my mouth. nicely appointed. larger than the main street location 4 stars for really well made and delicious food 3 stars for the skimpy portion of curry goat fot $19.99. It was like paying $20 for a bowl of rice n peas. I appreciate that meat like goat and oxtail are expensive. It's well known that they both are full of bones and not much meat so if serving customers these dishes at least take that into account and serve a decent portion so maybe they'll get a proper serving of meat. To make it worse was the small serving of vegetables and plantain. I actually think if those were adequate maybe it would not have been so disappointing. My Jamaican mom and I visited this restaurant yesterday and we were WARMLY greeted by Simone. We ordered the ackee and saltfish, ground provisions and jerk chicken. The wait was not long. The food was DELICIOUS!! We are JAMAICANS and know authentic fresh food. It was soooo good. The restaurant was spotless. Simone was kind and had a lot of patience. Customer service was 10 stars. Definitely the move when I want a bomb dinner. The service that they offer is amazing.

I decided to support a local business rather than one of the street vendors at the Laurel Main Street festival so I stopped in to order two plates of oxtails. The line was outside but moving as fast as any others around. When I arrived at the register, I was charged $63 which was a lot higher than I'd paid in the past. When I asked if it was right, the lady said prices were higher that day due to the festival. As a local, this is totally unacceptable business practice especially when no signs were posted to warn customers. We were also very disappointed with the portions as there were 4 small oxtails per plate and enough rice and beans to feed the neighborhood. I paid for the food but it's going to cost them my future business as I can get bigger oxtails for less than $30 a plate at another nearby restaurant. read more

After trying to call in an order several times, nobody had picked up the phone. There was nobody at the restaurant when I arrived, customer wise so not sure why the phone went unanswered. This is the 2nd location and the staff were limited. Which is understandable, but after learning about the rewards program, the cashier told me that it is earned online. I asked her if I could add the points later with my receipt and she said yes. So I collected the receipt and waited the 20 minutes like she said, after about 23, she said that the white rice would be another 10 minutes or so. I opted for the brown rice with beans since I saw some ready behind the window. So naturally I thought it'd be a quick scoop of the rice and sent on my way, but I saw the owner in the back kitchen grab my wife's order from a knives the counter and call it out through the window. Come to find out, they were microwaving the food to heat it up... who knows how long this food has been pre-made within today. So I got the food and surely enough the whole container was hot to touch, and microwaved for that warmth to last for the trip home. If I wanted microwaved Jamaican food I could've went to 7 Eleven and bought patties and not spend $50 bucks! Maybe it's due to the 2nd location and they're still getting there feet wet, but ANYWHERE in the restaurant industry microwaved to go orders are usually a big red flag. I won't be coming back.
