    Beef suya meal box

Finally!!! I convinced my husband to pick up food for us! I was so excited! It's been on my must try list for some time! Service was fast and efficient! It's a food truck so ambiance was just as expected! Most importantly it was clean. So, we were a bit surprised by the cost but overall the quality and quantity were worth it! Everything was fresh and flavorful! The jollof isn't what we are use to BUT it's still very tasty! We're actually on our way back today for a couple of small pans to last us a couple of days. Thank you, Project Suya for being so good, I don't have to cook for a couple of days! Please stay true to what you all are doing! God bless!!!

A few weeks ago, I stopped by the food truck and ordered the Meal Box with rice, suya, and fried plantains, which turned out to be the perfect combination. The pepper sauce added a nice touch, and I also had the chance to meet the two brothers who own the business, both of whom were warm and friendly . It would be great if they have nice seating outside.

I discovered Project Suya in Bowie on TikTok and the food looked so good that I had to try it for myself. They operate as a food truck (at least the Bowie location does), and you can order for pickup or delivery. Delivery was about $24, which felt pricey considering I also live in PG County, so I chose pickup instead. I ordered the meal pan ($25) with suya, plantain, and jollof rice. They package your order in a nice bag with a small water and a can of soda. My soda was unfortunately flat. The rice had a rich smoky flavor that really stood out, and the plantain was soft and flavorful. The suya was not bad, but I wish it had been a little more tender. The ordering system could use some improvement. I received a text saying my order was received, but after an hour I never got a follow-up text saying it was ready. I ended up calling and was told it was. When I arrived, it seemed like my order was not in the system, but the young lady on the truck pulled it together quickly, which I appreciated. No ambiance sit was a truck. Overall, the food was tasty and worth trying, but the ordering process felt confusing and could be smoother.

A waste of $54. This is my second time here, hoping the food would be better. Last time the food was okay. This time it was worse. I got a small suya and chicken for $54 worth of very bland food. I asked for no spice, no peppers. I didn't ask for flavorless food. There's no ambiance because it's a food truck. They did bring the food to my car so that was nice service.

    Not worth the money

I work in dc but live in Maryland. A coworker of mine ordered the project suya from the dc location and it was amazing. Which made me think that this one from Bowie would be the same. But mine it just seemed like they the gave me the fattiest part, came with so much fat on the meat and it doesn't even taste like the dc flavor. I know the meat coming cold is not their fault but I had to warm it up in the oven hence the picture I'm using. If you zoom in all u see if fatty parts.

The bartenders' skill set seems limited to cracking open a beer or the occasional home event, so adjust expectations accordingly; a cold Coors Light is about as adventurous as it gets. Most of the staff is friendly, though one manager who appears to be well past her customer-service era might want to consider retirement--her attitude does the atmosphere no favors. I hope they let their grandmother retire and rest up for the next life. She clearly has had a rough last couple of years. That said, the place itself is friendly enough and mostly clean, which counts for something.

Whether you're going to celebrate something special or just looking for good food and atmosphere, this place is solid The vibe inside is chill low but with upscale energy, but overall just a great environment. On my last visit, I went with sushi since that's what I was craving, and everything I ordered was hitting. Every item I picked off the menu was flavorful and well put together. The customer service was 10/10; polite, attentive, and moved really quickly. I didn't get a chance to try any cocktails, but their cocktail menu looked solid. I ended up sticking with wine for the evening, but I definitely plan on going back to explore more of the menu and try a few drinks because they have so many options to choose from. Overall, I would definitely recommend checking it out if you want good food and great service.

They usually have reservations and larger parties, but it's a pretty open/communal space, so there aren't typically issues with seating. All in all, a great spot for many occasions.

Their jerk chicken, oxtails, curry and oxtail pasta are ON POINT! I've been a weekly regular at this restaurant for about 3 months now and to date, I haven't had a disappointing meal. Plantains are always sweet, the rice & peas perfectly cooked, and the dumplings & fried dough amazing. Guess you can see I like this place. The customer service is good and trust I always have questions and they keep the interior clean. The house made juices/drinks are a bit too sweet for my taste but the food is worth every penny, and the portions are hardy enough for 2 people.

There is a small tv on one half of the restaurant that displayed lyrics while performers and the karaoke set up stood close to the entrance. The space felt a little small for a large karaoke and speaker set up but we made it work. The energy amongst the crowd (4-5 tables worth of people) was fun, and that's what matters most. After the karaoke, the hostess played about 30 mins of Caribbean jams which was fun too. During the event we had plenty to eat and drink. I had 3 rum punches (2 of which were during the happy hour window for $7) - they were not made to order, but rather came from a batch container. They were still pretty good and pretty strong but I would've preferred a freshly made drink. My girlfriend got a margarita to start (which wasn't that good) then switched to the rum punches. The bar was also low on glassware - so we often got drinks repoured into glasses we had just finished. Don't think the bar was prepared for a larger group that night. The food was solid, but not great. I had the regular fried wings and the jerk wings, for $9 during happy hour. Both wings were good, and I appreciate that the jerk wasn't too spicy. Strangely, I received 7 fried wings in one order and 5 jerk wings in the other order. My friend, who also ordered jerk wings, only got 4 wings in his order. Some consistency in order size would be better. On our way out, we ordered a couple patties (beef and curry chicken) and a curry chicken dinner with rice n peas and plantains. Theses choices were great! Wish I had ordered one more patty. The staff's friendliness and liveliness was the best part. The bartender was very friendly and did her best to manage the whole restaurant's drinks solo. The karaoke hostess had great energy. Even the kitchen staff and folks managing food orders were kind and pleasant. I could tell many of the guests were regulars; everyone seems very comfortable interacting with staff. If I'm in the area again, I'd totally be okay with stopping by for another rum punch and beef patty.
