Best authentic Jamaican food I've ever had in the US! Mind you I'm a trucker so I literally try to find one everywhere I go. 10/10 I recommend Oxtail, goat plate is what I had. read more

Let me start with this: I am SHOCKED by how much WE (my best friend from Kingston and I) enjoyed this food. I can't believe I'm just finding this place. Better than any other place I've had in the DMV with the exception of one place that closed. Rasta pasta? FIRE. Y'all, it was so good. I got chicken and shrimp... oohhhwheeeee. Jerk chicken was flavorful and so good. The cooker was on outside when we pulled up! The oxtail was good, too. Needed more gravy and maybe a bit more spice but gooddd. And I can confirm it's oxtail, not kangaroo tail (IYKYK). Rum cake was good, too! Might be the weakest link but I'd get it again. Service: honestly, the young woman working was very nice. So nice that I almost wondered if the food was going to be off (again, IYKYK), but she cracked a joke at the end of our interaction that was so heartwarming. They have cute little tables and benches outside. I will absolutely be back. Ooohhhh and look at the fridge drinks available! read more

I found this place by luck. The place I was looking for closed before I got there so I started searching for Caribbean food. I am pleased that I found this place. The service was within the normal range for homemade food; and the staff was pleasant. I felt comfortable; although the area is a bit isolated at night. For a takeout place, this place is a 5. Their menu features Carribean and American dishes. I ordered a curry chicken dinner and a chicken patty. The food was delicious. I had plenty of leftovers. Real poultry, rice, beans and cabbage..hmmmmm. It's all in the seasoning. read more

I've been to DJH on a number of different occasions. I've tried Uber Eats and pick up and have been pleasantly surprised each time. Customer service has been really good on each occasion as well which is always a plus. A few of my favorite items are the patties and fried chicken entree. Since this establishment is on my way home, very often I will make a pickup order and everything is ready on my arrival. I have yet to try the jerk chicken but oxtails and curry goat are indeed decent. Easily one of my favorite go to Jamaican restaurants in the local area. It is very difficult to keep up with the demands in a fast casual restaurant but DJH has done very well on my visits. read more

Da Jerk House - Caribbean Near Me - Morningside, Maryland

I had some business in Upper Marlboro and had a moment to drop by here before heading home. It's been on my radar ever since it opened two years ago, and I've always wondered how it is. As soon as you park, you hear the reggae blasting. It's a rather small building, but it's colored up and is quite inviting. Some bits could use touch ups though, but it really adds to the charm! I went inside and there were just a few people in there. There's only one or two tables, so it's definitely a to-go type spot. Some patties are on display, always nice to see. I started browsing through the menu -- I was delighted to see a lunch special on jerk chicken & curry chicken, and so many combo entrees at what I'd say are reasonable prices. Combos were like curry & brown stew, jerk & curry, etc. I just got the lunch special (curry chicken) for myself, and the ackee, saltfish, and callaloo combo platter for my parents. It took about 15 minutes, and they gave me the heads up on it taking a while which I appreciated. When it was ready, I made my way home. I loved everything about it! The rice & peas surprised me... the rice appeared to have a basmati base. Do other spots do that? Am I just unaware? It was delicious (and had that slight coconut flavor I love), but I have never seen it before. Loved the cabbage, plantain (though there was very little), and the chicken itself. Great amount of food too! Based on this experience I'd definitely go back. Can't wait to try other things! read more

Food was delicious! All the meat was juicy and tender. Loved all of my side dishes! Highly recommend the stewed and curry chicken. Service was fast, we got there when they were closing so glad them accommodated us and still made our plates. They have seating outside but it's more of a carryout. 10 out of 10 recommend! read more

Food was amazing and this is some of the best authentic Jamaican food I've ever had! The lunch special is amazing and I'm here at least 3 times a week to get the brown stew chicken and Oxtail! Highly Recommend this place to anyone in the area ! read more

Trash ! I ordered oxtail and they were TINY with NO MEAT all FAT ! The rice & cabbage had no flavor I'm genuinely pissed I spent $26 on bull

It's a Jamaican restaurant run by actual Jamaicans so some things are gonna be off....but that's how you know the food is good. I called to place an order and the guy was a little snippy over the phone. That's when I knew the food was gonna be good. Then when I drove up there there was music playing from a large speaker in front of the store and some older men hanging out in lawn chairs by the parking lot. I thought "this food is about to hit!" And when I saw the cook wipe his hands with the gloves on instead of just putting new gloves on, I thought about cancelling my order but I also knew he's probably the best cook in his family. So, if you don't mind any of that, you get to have some amazing food! I got the curry shrimp, a veggie patty and a bottle of soursop juice. Everything hit! I give the food itself a 6/5 stars. Happy eating! read more

I was super disappointed in my Rasta pasta. It tasted like someone over cooked the pasta and then threw thousand island dressing on it. I let the staff know when I came in and told them they might wanna try it.. He remade it within maybe 10 minutes or less and it looked the exact same when he gave it back to us except this time they put extra Parmesan cheese. It lacked salt, barely had Rasta flavor in it which is crazy for a Rasta pasta. All for it to be $25 too. Wild. Needless to say I'm never coming back. It was the weirdest tasting sauce I've ever had. It went straight into the garbage. Don't waste your time or money. read more

The best Jamaican food in the MD area idc! The women who is typically in the front taking orders is the sweetest lady. She will go out her way to make sure your stuff is right and for it just to be a couple of them in there they get you your food at a good time you're not standing around waiting for long ever. read more

This was my first time visiting this place. Service was on point and the food was great! This location is carry out only, but it's a cute hidden spot. The only thing I can say is the Mac n cheese was only noodles with a bunch of cheese. I like cheese, but it was a lot for me. Now, the jerk salmon was Babe!!! The sauce was great and I loved the peas and rice! It reminded me of a place I visited in the Bahamas. I will definitely be back!! read more

As we all know, Jamaican food can be pretty pricey, but I have to say, it was worth every penny! I ordered a oxtail and jerk, chicken platter, and it was a delightful surprise to find that it could easily be shared among three of us--all while everyone got plenty to eat! My whole family was over the moon with the delicious food we enjoyed. What a fantastic dining experience! read more

Food 10/10 The chicken was delicious. The beef patty was flakey on the outside but savory with the perfect amount of heat! Service 10/10 there were 4 people with orders and one person behind the counter. There was no long wait after I made my order. Ambiance 10/10 there are several benches with tables outside. There are no tables inside. There are bars (against the wall) if you don't mind standing while you eat. The reggae music playing outside will definitely have the party lit. Everyone seemed happy to be there. I understood why after I finished my plate. I am so happy Da Jerk House is here! I plan eating my way through the menu! Won't you join me? read more

The food is terrible. I just ordered oxtail plate. Worst oxtail I've ever had. No meat, not tender, just hard and inedible. I'm truly disappointed especially since I was craving some good Caribbean food. Smh. I've had Asians make it way better. Very sad. Wasted 25$. read more

Decided on a light snack yesterday and wasn't disappointed. The spicy beef patty was flaky, fresh and correctly heated...just right. Also the cabbage was cooked just right, not mushy...crisp and flavorful. The only thing that was missing was the available of carribbean hot pepper sauce. Other than that, Da Jerk House deliver for my 2nd visit. read more

They give you a heaping amount of food. They give you that love platter to go home with. Their jerk is less spice and a little more sweet saucy. Good portions of meat, the cabbage is fresh, plantains too. Small little place, good vibes. read more

Service is still slow. Placed an order online waited 30 min to pick it up and still had to wait 15 for jerk chicken.

Now it was about 7 o'clock and some change probably I went here to get some food curry chicken now when I tell y'all when I got home first of all, he said they didn't then the guy in the back said they have some more or said it was ready when I got home Only if y'all don't understand how pissed I was to have some damn curry chicken it was black burnt and fucking hard so I'm pissed off to the core because this was my first time going to this damn restaurant and I don't approve of you giving me no food for $18 and I come home and see it is burnt hard crunchy and everything so yes I don't know if I'll return, but I will be going ahead to get my money backand I'm gonna upload a picture as well read more

This is my third time going. The first time I went about 15mins before closing and ordered the jerk chicken. The guy in the back is making my food, and now he comes towards the front and stops and after about 30 seconds of him staring in space, I asked what he was doing. He said well we're about to close and I can't give you cold food. He was warming the food in the microwave!!! What?! I tasted the potential so I gave them a second chance and go way before closing and the jerk was good! Get the sauce on the side!! Not that it's needed. Also, I think they use basmati rice, which I don't care for. This last time I got jerk and oxtail. Why was the oxtail BURNT!! And I mean BURNT!! Mind you, he told me ahead of time I'd have to wait 30mins for the oxtail. Which I willingly did because it was a nice day out and had no plans. So you made me wait for 30mins to serve me BURNT food??! read more

The food takes too long to cook! I called in my order in and it still took to long and I waited!! For them to tell me that I'd had to pay over the phone pissed me off because they could have just said that 1st!! The rice was trash and they play their music extremely loud. I had a few large dishes... the jerk chicken was good but the serving size is one leg cut into pieces. The Cury Chicken was salty. The stew chicken was a 3 out of 10 ...The lunch special is a rip off its served in a small container The size of a sandwich . The patties are overpriced. read more

Welcoming environment with great outdoor music as you walk up. Attentive and approachable staff. Quick turn around once food order placed. I got the oxtail, which was flavorful and fall off the bone good with balanced fat to meat in each bite. Got their popular beef pattie which was flaky and tasty - had some spice to it, which makes me excited to try one of their jerk dishes next time. Good portion size. Worth the extra cost compared eating at a fast food joint. **they do have a small table with 2 seats for dine in read more

First time going and the Food hit! You must and I mean must try the Jerk chicken ! Also the cabbage was top tier!

The vibrant colors and music invite you in. Glad to see the establishment up and running after the mom and pop Orleans closed for business. I've been 2-3 times. All is ok, the plantain is more like leather strips vs it being soft and something to sink your teeth into that I'm used to. Most Caribbean places don't give you as much cabbage as they do rice and this place is no exception. Just enough to fill the little side portion of the takeout place. I like having a nearby option to grab a beef patty. read more

The lady at the front was truly nonchalant, so I can't rave about the customer service. We waited for our order in the car while vibing to the music --I loved that!
