Disclaimer: this review is solely based on a takeout order. So, the first few words that immediately comes to mind are massive portions and affordable. For my introductory meal to Caribbean Grill, I decided on the Goat Roti. In my opinion, the Goat Roti was basically two servings, which was approximately $15 (a win). As it relates to taste, for me, I was expecting a little bit my flavoring and succulent-ness (lol I know it's not a word) of the goat with more potatoes on the inside of the roti. Yall can go ahead and run to this here spot. Actually friendly/kind service (don't usually find that for Caribbean food spots lol) and a nice clean open space. That goat roti is something I would come back for weekly! That and their beef patties - so good! Beef and chicken patties both have just a little spice so if you don't like a little kick then don't get it. I thought it was mild but noticeable. Both patties were a great size and meat to bread ratio. Perfect snack on the go. I found the oxtail to be sweeter than I would go for but was cooked well. So this place is in District Heights. It's ran with a crew of two. I love some Jamaican food so I stopped in. The lady was super nice and sweet. The Jamaican ma cooking was also nice. The only down fall was it was dirty in the eating area. My food had lint in it so I just threw it away. We ordered a Jerk Chicken Sandwich, wings, coco bread, and a vegetable stir fry. I want to give them a better review but the lint did it for me. The bread is freshly cooked there so it was soggy immediately after ordering. There was just too much ranch. The food at Carribean Grill is really good. The first time meal I tried at this location was the red snapper, it was delicious. Warning, you will be served the fish with the head and bones, I think it adds to the flavor. From then on I was hooked. This past summer I was planning a graduation party, all the restaurants I wanted to cater were very expensive. My dad actually recommended I stop here, I couldn't believe I didn't even think of them in the first place. The staff is really nice and helpful, I asked a ton of questions about the catering menu. One of the staff recommended I order a full tray of oxtail ($180) originally I was only going to order a half tray ($90) for my graduation party. She said most people don't realize they like them until they try them. I am so glad I listen to her because that was the first thing my guest finished at my party. In total, I spent about $600 on the food. Which was half of what most restaurants were quoting me. This feed about 50-60 people and there was enough food for my friends and family to have left overs. My order included a full tray of oxtails, full tray of curry chicken, full tray of jerk wings (these wings are very spicy), half tray of snapper, half tray of cabbage, full tray of rice and peas, and a half tray of ackee & saltfish. I suggest only ordering a half tray on rice and beans, a full tray was too much. I have ordered a few trays of oxtail since my graduation party, my family loves it! I highly suggest ordering take out or catering your next event here. You have to pay for your food once you place the order in person. They will not take any orders until you do so. They will not deliver food to your house, you will have to pick it up. Also during the holidays, they do offer jerk turkeys for about $60. However, my Sunday, August 21, 2021, experience, who was this Caribbean Grill? Were they purchased by someone else? The restaurant does not do any verification with the person picking up the order and their own system (don't label orders correctly). So essentially, people can just walk in and pick up to-go orders. They delivered the wrong order (and a type of food that I don't eat), blamed it on the driver that picked up the order, would not take a new order after 8pm, and would not give a refund. Only thing is that it is all chicken, no fish, beef, goat, shrimp or pork, but does include chicken done all types of ways. I ordered the Calaloo with Salt Fish and a Goat Roti to go for later and was pleasantly surprised by the taste of both dishes. I wasn't expecting as much goat because I know that the roti includes potato and they goat to potato ratio was about 3:1 and no complaints from me. This was only my second time ever having Calaloo and the Jamaican way of cooking it tastes very similar to the Sierra Leone way of cooking. The food is pretty good I cannot lie. I just want to add I was disgusted by the fact that the plantain came in grease so I couldn't eat it and the ones I did finish had to be wiped down with napkins!
