    Cherry blossom matcha
    Karina A.

Discovered this on instagram and new, as a mochi lover, I had to try it! Service was wonderful and the employees were lovely to interact with. We went towards the end of the day (they were are open until 3pm) and there was no line. The shop is small, but it's cute and there's a little outdoor table for people to enjoy the weather with their mochi donuts. I got their cherry blossom matcha drink (coffee coin) and a cherry blossom donut as this is the speciality flavor. For the drink - at first the matcha overpowers the cherry blossom. However, as the cold foam mixes in, the cherry blossom comes out beautifully! Highly recommend if you're a lover of floral flavors. The cherry blossom donut was phenomenal. The mochi donut is perfectly textured (a nice spongey-ness), and the icing is delicious and well balanced with cherry blossom. Definitely for those with a bit of a sweet tooth! I look forward to trying their other flavors - the yuzu donut and earl grey donut piqued my interest and I will have to try them next time.

They have a new brick and mortar location at 999 Bethel Road. They teamed up with Coffee Coin for the perfect combo of coffee and donuts. In addition to the delicious donuts, they now sell freshly made mochi. I suggest going right when they open for a hot, freshly dipped donut. Heavenly.

I first tried donuts from Mochi Shop back in 2022 or 2023 when they were at a farmers market. And at the time, they were the only option in Columbus for mochi donuts. I was super excited to support them when they opened their brick and mortar location. These mochi donuts are not the typical mochi donuts. I'd argue they're completely different type of donuts (like how there are the cakey vs doughy donuts). These are not deep fried and are slightly more dense than their deep fried counterpart. That still have a chewy texture. And are heavier on the mochi flavor (or mochiko flavor). A lot of thought has also been put into their icing. This icing is not as sweet, but still flavorful. Showing how much they care about the quality of their ingredients, they only use natural food coloring. This is located in the game place as coffee coin. Their latte was well made. Great blend of espresso and milk. The espresso was pulled wonderfully and the milk was frothed smoothly.

The best mochi donuts ever! Loved the consistency and flavor so much. The buckeye peanut butter is so smooth. Also pictured is the pumpkin spice, and apple cider flavors.

I have never tried mochi donuts, so was able to order a six pack ($19.95) from The Mochi Shop for pickup from Bee Bubbly Juicery in Hilliard. The flavors I ordered were: Earl grey lavender honey, yuzu, strawberry crunch, Japanese sweet potato, matcha sprinkle, and gingerbread. Each of these were a little dessert! My favorite was the Japanese sweet potato. It was just so good and the cream filling on top was delicious! My second favorite was the Earl grey lavender honey. My husband's favorite was the strawberry crunch. All of them were great though. The donuts cost more than chain donut shops, but was comparable to the local specialty donut shops. I loved the chewy consistency of a mochi mixed with the fried goodness of donut dough. I honestly prefer this texture of donut to cake donuts. I found the donuts to be best eaten fresh. They lose the same quality of texture over time. Definitely, will get more in the future.

Loved the cherry blossom flavor this week. So nice for spring. Can't wait for sesame to come back! Since I got these the first time I've been getting them every weekend, they are just too good, I look forward to them all week.

Always love the rotational flavors of Mochi Donut from The Mochi Shop and never disappoint. Ube is still my favorite, but it is refreshing to try out the Sakura Sprinkle in spirit of Spring.

FINALLY Columbus has a sweets shop dedicated to the Japanese Mochi donuts and we are HERE. FOR. IT. The ladies here are incredibly talented with their creations of a wide variety of mochi flavors. Soft, bouncy, yet incredibly light, these donuts are definitely something you can't miss!

They are truly amazing. I have wanted to try mochi donuts for a while but haven't seen any in the Columbus area until a month ago when I heard about The Mochi Shop. They're only doing small batches right now, so I kept a close eye on their instagram and set an alarm on my calendar for the next time I could pre-order. I immediately put in my order for that day and was so excited to receive them on Saturday! When they did not come at the time they specified, I started to get a little worried but I assumed it was probably because of Valentine's Day. They were so quick with their communication even when the initial delivery went to the wrong apartment, they quickly brought 2 replacements and 1 extra donut. Honestly, these donuts were worth the wait and I would happily get them again. They were fluffy, spongy, and beautifully decorated. The donut wasn't too sweet which is how I liked it and I ate them almost immediately after they got here. Exceptional customer service and beautiful tasty donuts, this is a must try! I can't wait until I'm able to get my hands on another batch and when the owners open their brick-and-mortar store!

I discovered The Mochi Shop over the summer at a Farmer's Market. I have never turned back. Their donuts are so full of flavor and have such a unique texture with the mochi dough that they use. Also they have a variety of flavors that aren't your typical run of the mill donuts (Check the photo). They're only available once every other week or so, so order when you can!

This is a humble little establishment run by two amazing Japanese women, Kaori and Junna! You've probably had donuts before, but mochi donuts are a whole different ballpark. Of Japanese origin, they're made with rice flour instead of white flour, and this gives them a unique, chewy texture. As far as I know, there are no other places in the whole STATE that makes mochi donuts, since these tend to be found in trendy areas like California or Orlando with larger Asian populations. Having said that, you need to do yourself a favor and immediately buy some!! These donuts are literally helping me survive dental school since they're something to look forward to! Because this is a pop-up, they tend to let you place orders every few weeks via a link to an online shop for pickup at a local coffee shop or for delivery. YOU WILL NOT REGRET TRYING THESE! Yes, I have shown friends these before and they found them to be a little expensive. However, it is incredibly clear from when you first open a box of these, to when you take your last bite, that these donuts are made with the utmost care and are of stellar quality. Every donut is visually appealing, and the Mochi Shop is always working hard to come up with unique and seasonal flavors. I dare you to find a place in Columbus that makes Irish cream, matcha, Fruity Pebbles, and red velvet donuts all under the same roof! You really cannot go wrong with any of the flavors and since they're constantly rotating, there's always something new to try. I could go on and on about why I love this business, but the part to me about the shop that I love the most is their friendliness and commitment to customer satisfaction! Once when I was picking up an order, we briefly thought that my order was incorrect. Kaori offered to quickly make me the correct donuts AND deliver them to my apartment. She has even taken custom orders for me and my friends on weeks that the shop was technically closed. So to sum things up, the Mochi Shop makes incredible, one-of-a-kind cultural donuts that help spice up Columbus's food scene. And not only that, they are dedicated to making sure your experience with them is a positive one. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUSINESSES!!

The donuts are made fresh and are soft and plush. They have an open concept kitchen so you can see the staff prepare your donut right in front of you! My car filled up with the sweet aroma of a freshly fried donut and notes of strawberry. I was so excited to take a bite and the flavors did not disappoint. So good I forgot to take a picture! The only thing I did notice was it seemed like the donut was not completely cooked all the way through as I found a wet spot as I got closer to the center.

I decided to go with a few of the created flavors, Honey Blue, Raspberry Beret, and the Mitch. They came piping hot out and were glazed and topped right in front of me. It was great but the icing didn't have a chance to set fully because the donut was so hot. I suggest to ask if you can have them wait a minute or two before putting on the glaze I love the story behind explaining who Donna is. I love learning the back story of any business. When you walk in you pull a number and wait for it to be called. Almost felt like I had walked into the DMV. lol We peeked at the display counters while we waited and tried to have our orders ready when it was our turn to expedite the wait for those after us. There were a few shelves that displayed various cookies, breads and things you could grab and go. The place was clean and the process was orderly. They seemed to keep things in the front stocked. We probably waited about 15 minutes. I pulled number 90 and the were calling the last of the 60's. We ordered several items to try including the packzis with three different fillings since we went at the right time of year for these. We grabbed a cheese, strawberry and lemon. We also chose a cheese danish, maple cream stick, apple fritter, cherry turnover and a donut stick. Once we told them what we wanted the girl helping us went to the back and started filling our box. A few moments later she returned, we paid and headed out the door with our sweets. My husband didn't want to wait so we opened up the box once we got to the car and each took one bite from each of our selections. We didn't find anything wrong with our choices. The one thing I was thrown off by is how they make their apple fritters. I almost missed ordering one bc they look nothing like the apple fritters I'm used to eating. It was just ok in my book. Not something I would get again. The donut stick on the other hand is something I wouldn't miss next time. In fact I'd be getting more than one. It was probably my favorite item of all we selected. The cream stick dough was soft. The cream wasn't too sweet. The only thing I would have changed was to have the maple icing be a bit more maple flavored. The turnover was nice and crispy flakey but the filling was just ok. Maybe a different flavor next time if I would get one. How can you go wrong with a cheese danish? Warm this slightly and you're hitting a home run. This was a nice stop and we learned the difference between what we liked and loved. We know just what to get next time. I will say they have a great social media presence and do a phenomenal job interacting with their customers and community.

We enjoy their products and welcome Resch's to Gahanna. We are highly confident Resch's would be even more successful if they took two actions: 1. Open for business at least by 7:00 a.m. 2. Offer the option of traditional no-filling Chocolate and Vanilla frosted Long John donuts. -- market data supports this and shows .... Based on: * Sampling of 100+ independent bakery hours across U.S. cities * Regional bakery association listings * Yelp/Google Business hour patterns * Known bakery business models A realistic, data‑grounded estimate is: Only about 10-15% of neighborhood bakeries open at 8:00 a.m. or later. Further market data shows... Bakeries that offer only filled Long Johns are extremely uncommon. Why unfilled Long Johns almost always remain on the menu * They serve the "less sweet" customer segment. * They pair well with coffee (important for morning sales). * They are cheaper to produce and have fewer failure points. * They are the "default bar donut" in many regions. Even bakeries that push filled varieties keep unfilled bars because they sell steadily and require no additional labor. --- Bottom-line conclusion Bakeries that offer only filled Long Johns are very rare -- probably under 5% of all bakeries. The overwhelming majority offer both, with filled varieties outnumbering unfilled but not replacing them.

It's a small shop by a gas station. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and they were ready to take our order before we were ready to give it. I asked about a couple of the varieties in the display counter and those answers helped me make my selections. We ended up with 6 different varieties. A maple cream stick, donut stick, apple fritter, raspberry jelly filled, a buckeye donut (for my hubby) and a chocolate espresso donut (for me). The price was quite reasonable and the people working were very friendly. I also ended up getting a bag of coffee beans after talking with our server and getting her recommendations. She even gave me a sample of one of them they had brewed. We paid for our items and headed out. Several people came while we were there. In fact our friends missed getting to try the espresso donut because someone's that jumped in between us bought the last of them. After trying it when we got to our car I can see why! DELICIOUS!! Would go back for it alone. My husband didn't even wait until we got to the car to try his Buckeye donut and he loved it. Their apple fritter was better than one I bought earlier that morning from a bakery. I didn't think the raspberry jelly filled had nearly enough filling. It easily needed tripled.
