Cozy little spot with wonderful service and good eats. My partner and I both enjoyed the tuna melt!

To get here, street parking will be your best bet. Inside, they have a cozy setup with some tables for seating. Wifey and I ended up grabbing a Brownie and a Ham, Thyme & Gruyère Croissant. Both items were delicious! All of the staff are very friendly and welcoming here. There is a reason why this spot has over 1,000+ positive reviews!

Come early because they do run out of pastries. Everything I've ordered has tasted great. The croissants are especially good. Very flavorful and buttery. Lots of unique flavors too, and in the macarons as well. The space itself is small with almost no seating and it's too crammed to form an appropriate line. You have to balance on small steps at some point. Not ideal. I would normally give this bakery 4-5 stars, but I think they deserve only two stars for my personal experiences. The staff has never been all that friendly, and on my last visit (and last for a while or ever) one woman was so rude to me I was so shocked I just stood there with my jaw hanging open until I finally regained my wits and just stepped away. I don't even know what caused her attitude, I had ordered and paid, but she didn't like how I was waiting for my bag of food, I guess. I don't know. But I won't be going back anytime soon even if I lived in Portland. Bummer because it's very tasty.

I had the steak and chimichurri sandwich and it was amazing. The fries were great, and I also loved their candy selection. The only downside for me was that all of the cupcakes are gluten free, so they were a bit dry and dense compared to regular cupcakes. That said, I will definitely come back every time I visit Portland. It's a fun, comforting spot with lots of good options.

With the plethora of eats to choose from, a friendly/efficient staff and service, and in or outdoor seating available, Elephants Delicatessen is a spot that's a must visit when you're in this fun city! There are multiple counters for different types of food. There's a sandwich/soup station, a pizza station, a hot foods station (for burgers & specialties), a cold deli station for cold salads/sides, and a bar/barista inside for adult beverages or coffee. Additionally, there's an area to purchase bottled wine and jams/jellies. Grab whatever items you order and pay at the register. If you order from a station, bring your ticket with you as that's where you get charged. Pretty much any type of deli flavor you're looking for, you can find it here. Some of my favorites involve the following: -Teriyaki Chicken Wings -Curried Chickpea Salad -Reuben Sandwich -Tomato Bisque -Corn & Crab Chowder -Broccoli Salad -Turkey and Avocado Sandwich -Pizza Slices (All of them!) I'm sure there's plenty of items I'm missing but those are the ones that stood out to me since I've eaten them multiple times. The staff is very helpful and move efficiently with all the orders flying around. As for seating, there's plenty of seating indoors or you can sit on the patio area outside. Also kid friendly too if you've got the little ones with you. One of Portland's finest eating spots!

FIRST TIME - BEST PDX PIZZA!…read more I saw a guy loading up huge tubs of fresh organic lettuce from Sunrise Farms at the Wednesday farmers market in Shemanski Park, South Park Blocks, near Arlene Schnitzer theatre. I guessed he must be a chef buying for his restaurant. Yup - Darby is one of two chef/owners of Pizza Thief on NW 26th ST and NW Vaughn ST, Alphabet District. We chatted briefly. I was delighted to hear he buys mostly "ALL" organic and local NW for his pizza place. Gotta go! Two days later my wife and I showed up for lunch. We ordered the market salad loaded with farm fresh organic veggies and the Sunrise oak leaf lettuce. The salad presentation was so colorful (carrots, radishes, green beans, snap peas, pickled asparagus, chives, sheep mile feta) looking like a Claude Monet painting. Big hearty salad tossed in a big bowl. Ya, edible art! So delish with scratch made green goddess dressing. Order a whole pizza or by the slice - which we did. Wife went for a "Vegan Special" slice with tomato sauce, roasted mushrooms, piquillo peppers, kale, mustard greens, Calabrian chili-garlic oil, and Sicilian oregano. I had "Hot Tony" with tomato sauce, pepperoni, schiacciata salami,  calabrian-chili, piquillo peppers, jalapeño mozz-provolone, fior di latte, grana, and sicilian oregano. The pizza looked like abstract art too and was delish. Perfect dough, cooked completely through and not soggy, crispy crunchy crust and slice loaded up with farm fresh ingredients. Sourdough fermented pie is also local and organic NW Camas Mill (what the top pizza places in Portland use) with whole grains. We've been to James Beard award winning or nominated PDX pizza places like Ken's, Lovely Fifty Fifty, Nostrana and Mozza (LA) - throw in other good PDX pizza like Oven & Shaker, Mount Hood brewing and APizza Scholls too - Pizza Thief is in this best pizza in Portland conversation but - but - but - the local NW farm fresh ingredient moved my pizza needle - Pizza Thief to the top of my "OH MY" list. Oh my - I love this pizza! I love supporting local farms, especially organic or pesticide free farmers, who are growing product good for my health - good for the soil - good for the environment. Then, I love those restaurants like Pizza Thief that buy from Oregon NW farmers! Winner! Winner! Winner! Farmer! Pizza shop! Yelpin Foodie! All winners! Pizza Thief serves it up for a Yelpin foodie. I will be back for with my Yelpin bib on for more salads, sandwiches and pizza with a cold brew. Chow out! Chow down!
