The perfect meal on a cold day! I love this place so much. It's great for lunch, they have excellent prices. They also cater to the high school kids and do a great job fielding that rush and their non-school kids orders. Love their curry, noodles, appetizers and drinks!

You can't go wrong ordering or dining in at this restaurant. The food has so much flavor. If you're heading to a Timbers game you should stop in to fill up before the game. This place is great.

Now this place is the ultimate throwback for anyone who went to Lincoln High School (ayyyy). Does anyone else remember standing in line for a to-go bowl of peanut chicken and rice to scarf down before hustling back to fifth period? The highlights: Kinara offers a decent selection of menu items, some of which are more familiar fare like papaya salad, salad rolls, and Tom yum soup, and some that I was less acquainted with (Nom Jean pla, pong ga ree, mee gra tee, to name a few). You'll still be able to order your typical fried rices and curries, so for those of you who approach Thai with expectations, fear not. Our meal included Tom kha with veggies, kabocha squash with egg, asparagus salad with coconut lime, and lettuce wrap larb. It is unfortunately my partner's and my "low carb" day, so no rice or noodles for us :( but Kinara made this silly little diet feasible. I would probably bathe in the Tom kha soup, and the flavor of the coconut lime with the asparagus was fabulous. And for $46 WITH tons of leftovers, we can't say we were disappointed. The improveables: Ever since COVID-19 this place has been take out only. No dine in option, unfortunately. I'm not quite sure why, seeing as it would be nice to be able to sit down and eat rather than having to pick up, but they probably have their reasons that I'm not going to question too deeply. Of our food, I found the larb to have a very strong, distinct flavor...I can't quite put the name to it, and it's not necessarily a gross flavor, but I think that whatever it was, it was too strong. The proximity to the high school also means that you might encounter some juvenile foot traffic, and as someone who lives across the street from the school I can tell you it can be cutthroat out there. Big nostalgia aside, Kinara is a lovely little neighborhood jewel, and they'll feed you well if you're willing to get up and go fetch your order.

This place is tiny and cute and makes excellent Thai food! I've gone twice and both times was so impressed at how fast they prepare your food. The service in general has been very prompt and it's clear they pay attention to detail. Tom kha soup - really good! I went with a friend who recently traveled to Thailand and he said that this bowl of soup brought him back to when he first tried it's coconut-spicy flavor in its own country. Their version had more veggies (big pieces of mushrooms, tomatoes, etc) which I was less excited about but gave it a little more substance than just broth. Mee gra tee - like a sweeter version of pad thai, also good if you know what you're getting into! Noodles and veggies were well-cooked and the dish was something I hadn't tried before. Pretty large portion size and makes good leftovers. Mango sticky rice - this was the first time I've ever had it so I can't compare it to anything else or tell how authentic it was, but I really liked it! To me the rice was a little dry but it was definitely sweet and milky and the mango was ripe. It was almost closing time and they still served us so I won't hold it against them!

Drinks: I cannot handle day drinking anymore, but I couldn't resist... - Acid test: bourbon based - Separation anxiety: rum based, tiki; I was hesitant about the lychee (not a fan), but it was very well balanced. This was my preferred cocktail Food: family style - Sweet and sour chicken: even the small was a big portion. Flavor was great on this, and it had a crisp, crunchy batter - Wok fried yu choy: great wok char - Smoked pork krapao: crispy pork belly pieces, a fried poached egg (literally deep fried). Break up the yolk to dip with the pork. The cucumbers and green beans are a nice clean accompaniment; spicy fish sauce was great - White curry with brisket burnt ends: I've never had a white curry, but the white curry and cauliflower was a great match for the super rich brisket pieces. I love the interesting combination! Note: pretty much everything has some spice to it, so for kids, the jasmine rice and yu choy are the main items, though my older daughter did ok with the fried chicken and brisket! Music was great, and all of the food flavors were bold. Though flavor combinations were unique, everything was cohesive. They were packed on a Wednesday for lunch, so I'm glad we got here before noon to snag a table. I wish the Bay Area had more interesting fusion done right like this (I feel like fusion is a bad word in the food world...)

It is not an in-house, concocted drink. Our favorite entree was the roasted mushroom fried rice. It has that complex charred aroma which is achieved by stir-frying over extreme heat with the wok. Our next favorite item is the sweet and sour fried chicken. A small order was plenty for us to share. It is sticky, sweet, and tangy with just the right touch of spice.

You can watch them frying the roti in front of you, they have a great flavor (they're a bit on the thick side), and the curry is absolutely sublime, with an incredible depth of spices without being hot. I also really enjoyed the freshness and textural blend of the "rice salad," with great cucumbers and herbs, although it was too spicy for my dining companions. I admit I didn't think the fried chicken was anything special--the chicken was moist (even the white meat), but the outside could have been crunchier. But I'm not the biggest expert in fried chicken, nor in pad thai, and both were certainly competent even if not as exceptional. Sticky rice was also cooked perfectly.

Fried Chicken Roti Combo - holy fried chicken crispy, combo comes with 1x leg and 1x thigh cut into two pieces. Curry was delicious and balance, excellent when dipped with the crispy roti or fried chicken. Pickled veggies were a great pairing and sweet and sour added another dimension. 2. Pad Thai - glistening noodles served inside an egg omelet. Very solid pad thai - sweet, sour, salty. Don't forget to add the fresh shrimp, these were cooked perfectly and plump. I recommend the restaurant should take the shrimp tail shell off for us. 3. Thai Basil Lemonade - solid lemonade, NEED more basil flavor. Overall, I'd come here again to eat and try other items as well. I'll give it a 5 star for now but more 4.5.
