Decided to dip into The Melting Pot on Broughton Street this weekend for the first time to try their Four-Course Dinner for Two. We opted for the Classic Alpine for our cheese fondue as it was their signature item. Personally... not my favorite. I think next time I'll give the Wisconsin Cheddar a try as it was also recommended by our server. Salads we went with the signature Melting Pot House with ranch dressing and the Caesar. The house salad was pretty standard and exactly what you would imagine. The Caesar had a slight twist with candied nuts. The menu stated Parmesan-dusted Pine nuts but these were definitely sweet! Our opted for the grill for our entrees. We enjoyed The Classic and "Create Your Own". The only thing that was missing was salt. A bit more flavor would have gone a long way. They did have serve a selection of six different sauces. For our dessert chocolate fondue, we enjoyed the Pure Chocolate Fondue - Milk Chocolate. The assortment of marshmallows, fruit, and other sweets were delicious. The service was GREAT! Z K was very attentive and was happy to offer recommendations. We did make a reservation but their appeared to be ample seating available for a Saturday evening. The dining room was clean and everything looked spotless. While it may not become one of our local favorites, it would be fun for an appetizer or dessert. read more

We went to The Melting Pot for dinner on a Saturday with a 6 PM reservation, and the experience started off smoothly, we were seated within about 5-10 minutes. They offer both à la carte and a 4-course meal option ($124 for two, plus tip), and we decided to go with the full experience. The first course was the cheese fondue, served with bread, fruits, and veggies for dipping. You get to choose your cheese, and we picked the Alpine. Personally, I prefer a saltier, more robust cheese, so this one felt a bit too mild for my taste, just a preference thing. The second course was salad. I had the Melting Pot salad with ranch, and Jordan went with the Caesar. Both were solid and fresh. For the main course, we had a selection of meats, I chose the petit filet, shrimp, and chicken. This part is very similar to a Korean BBQ experience where you cook your own food at the table. While I understand the appeal, I'm not a big fan of cooking my own meal at a restaurant. That said, it's definitely an interactive experience. The shrimp stood out as my favorite. The steak and chicken, however, felt under-seasoned to me. There are sauces available, but overall I found it lacking salt. The final course was the chocolate fondue, with bananas, strawberries, Rice Krispies treats, brownies, marshmallows, and more, definitely the highlight of the meal but small, at this point you are full anyway. In summary, it was a good experience. Coming from Brazil, especially São Paulo where fondue is very popular, I couldn't help but compare it to places like Hannover, where the focus is more traditional, lots of bread for the cheese and plenty of strawberries for the chocolate. Here, it felt like a mix between fondue and Korean BBQ, which was interesting but a bit different from what I expected. This was my first time at a restaurant like this so I didn't know what to expect, the 4 course dinner was decent but I understand that most go for the experience rather than the food itself. Our server was super friendly and helpful but had left us hanging for 30+ minutes when we asked for the bill. The ambiance is what you expect for a restaurant like this but didn't really stand out to me. Overall, we enjoyed our time but as I mentioned before this kind of restaurant is more for the experience rather then the food, so if you're planning on coming on a date or going out with family sure, this place can hit your targets, but if you're looking for quality food that doesn't cost an arm and leg I would recommend going somewhere else. read more

If you have never been to another melting pot it's good. If you have then it's subpar compared to the rest. Service was slow however she was new so that's not her fault. No curtains like the other melting pots which ruined the ambiance. The way the stove was placed made it inconvenient and uncomfortable to use the fondue. They also had the ingredients to make the baked potato fondue which is just adding potato, which they said they didn't have yet served potato for main course. Overall good if you have never had melting pots, bad if you have had it anywhere else. Chocolate was not very good as well. We had the "Bigger Night Out" which is a 4 coarse meal for 2 people. Our waiter, James did a wonderful job and I was impressed by the manager Jordan. He made multiple stops by the table to ensure we were having a good experience. I've been to several Melting Pot locations but this was my first visit to this specific 1. I always order a bottle of Rosa Regale (a sweet sparking wine) and Jordan made sure to let us know he was going to quick chill it for us first. This is the only time anyone has offered without me asking for it to be chilled ahead of time. I didn't catch the hostess name but she was just as wonderful as the 2 gentlemen I mentioned. read more

Absolutely horrible service model. They don't honor bar reservations and want customers to wait over an hour and a half for 'other' tables to open up. They are more focused on training during rush dinner hours than making drinks. The manager is pretty intent on ignoring local, paying customers which explains their lack of business and staff turnover. Our server Jasmine was clear and very thorough. This was our first visit (for 2) and it was lovely. The Alpine classic cheese fondue starter was everything hot bubbly cheesy goodness should be. Our salads were crisp and well chilled. Nice break after the heavy fondue. We had our main course on the hibachi grill. It was fun to do the meats, vegetables, and seafood grilled and then try the 5 assorted sauces. Everything was presented well and carefully, and by the time we got to the chocolate fondue we were running out of room. I tried a bite of all the fruits and dessert bites. Molten chocolate is divine. We were seated in a nice booth and had a lovely wine display wall to keep our attention. We got our table on time and never felt rushed. We had a really good time. This was our first time at this Melting Pot, but have going to Melting Pots for years. I was able to make a early reservation through open table. Our table was ready when we arrived. Our waitress, Ashley was very attentive throughout the experience. We ordered the 4 courses with Wisconsin cheddar, Caesar salad, coq au vin cooking style, and the flaming turtle sub milk with dark chocolate. My complaints were they didn't have the famous cocktail sauce for the shrimp, the potatoes in the vegetable bowl, or the brownies anymore. Sad. I'm a creature of habit and those are things we look for. First of all I had NO idea Savannah had a Melting Pot. This has been on my list of places to visit for a very long time. But it was such a fun experience!!! A friend and I went here on a Sunday to celebrate her anniversary, since her husband is deployed. We made reservations, but they weren't busy. We were seated immediately and greeted by our server. We chose to do the 4 course meal. Our appetizer of cheese was as delicious as it smelled. We enjoyed the different foods (different breads and fruit) that could be dipped in it. We chose to do the grilled entrees. Our server shared the cook times for the different meats and veggies with us, but we found the cook times to be a little longer than he had shared. Could have just been where exactly on the stove top we were cooking, but it took a minute. The sauces that came with it were delicious and brought out the flavors. The mushrooms with the creamy dressing inside were awesome! We got the s'mores fondue for dessert and it was SO GOOD. Highly recommend this. It was delicious! It came with fruit and some other dessert items to dip in it. We also ordered the sangria drink. It was really fresh and was a great way to start the evening. The service was excellent and the food was good. It's a little pricey ($72 per person for all the food, one drink, and including tip), so definitely planning on visiting again for a while. My best friend and I made a special trip to Savannah just to eat at The Melting Pot. It had been three years since we had seen each other, and we had to celebrate at our favorite chain. What a mistake. The host/manager seemed bothered we showed up for our reservation. The restaurant was completely empty, but sure, seat us directly next to the only other party in the joint. Our food never cooked because the oil never got hot. And portion sizes were dismal for the money. The bathrooms are disgusting. And I came to learn later that a colleague of mine had tried to order us a gift round of drinks ahead of time, but despite calling on four occasions, no one ever answered the phone! Our waitress, Payton, was a total delight. She's the only reason we didn't walk out. Lesson learned - skip the chains, especially ones who clearly are going bankrupt across the country. read more

We waited patiently and didn't see a hostess until well after 5 minutes. Keep in mind, the restaurant wasn't busy. I came here about a month ago and wish I remembered to write a review before now, I fear it'll not be relevant enough for closure. I took my girlfriend here on a date and her drink took almost halfway through our cheese portion of the meal for the drink to arrive. The male manager came and took our drink order in the first place as our sever was nowhere to be found. I usually get the classic alpine and we got something different, and I could see the powder covering pre shredded cheese. I've been a melting pot customer for almost 12 years now and this is the first time I experienced an awkward, non conversational experience from our server as she prepared our cheese. She also didn't bring out our charcuterie board until we were almost out of cheese and I reminded her. Finally, the chocolate red velvet package we ordered wasn't specified as a birthday chocolate. The server came over and lit the fireworks asking who's birthday it was, in which we informed it wasn't either of ours, and multiple hosts and other servers came and stood next to her silently as the sparklers burned out and she loudly explained to them, judgingly, that is wasn't anyone's birthday. It was the first time, especially in the savannah location, I have experienced poor service and an artificial, cheap, and unpleasant taste in my mouth. Everyone is raving about the new management but I preferred it before. I'm so sad because Melting Pot has always been celebratory for me and now I'm hesitant to go back and spend that money again. read more

As much as my wife and I enjoy The Melting Pot in Columbia, SC but have also experienced Savannah, Greenville, Myrtle Beach we were very disappointed this time in Savannah the week after Christmas. Where do I start? My best friend and I drove two hours to go to the Savannah location as it's been a tradition for us to dine at The Melting Pot when visiting each other since she's moved away. We had a reservation for two on Thursday July 14th at 7pm, we had met two other women we were hanging out with in our hotel lobby and invited them to join us, they sat us without issue seeing as there were only 4 other people in the restaurant. They sat us at the table directly behind them, which was no problem. Our server came over (Payton. Possibly the only nice & competent person in this establishment so this in no way reflects poorly on her) and we started to order drinks at which point she told us her manager said we couldn't be served? We were completely sober. Just four new friends, two sets of old friends, on vacation having a good time. If we were that intoxicated why would they have sat us next to the only other table there? Doesn't add up, right? We need a new paragraph cause this just keeps going. We were all kind of taken back by not being served but okay, we'll have water, that's fine. She told us that her manager said maybe after we get some food in us we could have alcohol. Okay, cool, no problem. We have a couple courses, say hey could we maybe get a bottle of wine now? We're all sober, like we were to begin with and we're all staying at a hotel literally 500 feet away and we'll all be walking back, no cars, no Ubers, just feet (no one was even wearing heels! We were all in flats). Safe. Payton then informs us that "oh, my manager says I shouldn't have told you that," and continues to refuse to serve us. Our food was awful, we ordered the bourguignonne style and I think due to having 4 people and one burner the oil was never really hot enough to cook anything we had soggy tempura and everything took forever too cook. Also, it felt like a rip off having 4 of us and one pot, we ran out of cheese with tons of dippers left and the same happened with the dessert course. We finish our meal, tip her generously and leave. Now here's the real plot twist - we find out after the fact that my friends colleague had tried to call the restaurant numerous times to buy us a round of drinks. Thank god no one answered the phone because can you imagine how embarrassing it would have been to find out your colleague tried to buy you a round of drinks and they were told "sorry, too drunk, no drinks for them!" So, shout out to Melting Pot of Savannah for a truly demeaning and horrible experience. I have tried to discuss this with restaurant ownership to no avail, I emailed corporate (took twice for them to reply) and was then told they had forwarded my complaints to the owner whom I never heard from. This proves to me that they place little value on the few customers they have as well as their employees. Had we have been able to resolve this issue we would have had drinks & a higher bill and thus, a higher tip (I left 30%) which I'm sure would have been appreciated seeing as the restaurant was so empty and I'm sure no one was making much money that evening. I understand why many of your locations we used to frequent are no longer in operation. Oh, we had also noted that it was my birthday on the reservation and there was never any mention of it. read more

The food was great! I liked the environment and the ambiance, especially for date night. But what I really came on here for was to say how amazing my service was. Our server, Spring, may be one of the best waitresses I have ever had. As a first timer to The Melting Pot, I really appreciate her knowledge and insight on every menu item. My issue is not necessarily with this particular location, but more The Melting Pot in general. Our bill for 3 adults and 2 children came to over $180 and you have to cook the food yourself w/ minimal instruction. I get that's the niche part of this restaurant but how annoying! For that much money we could have gotten a nice steak at an actual nice restaurant. This is basically the poor man's fine dining experience (but makes sense since it IS a chain). As for this particular location, our server was lackluster and she almost seemed annoyed that we hadn't been to a Melting Pot before and she had to explain things to us. She offered minimal guidance, and each time she walked away from the table we all were confused about our options. I honestly would not go back to a Melting Pot ever again.
