Celebrated Valentine's Day a day later, and the place was still extremely busy. The food was good, but the service was just okay. Our server was extremely friendly and informed, but she took forever (probably because it was busy). We were at the restaurant for 2.5-3 hours to get through the salad, cheese, entree, and dessert. It's an experience.
If your group doesn't eat a lot, ordering one 4-course experience is enough, because they give you unlimited items to dip into the cheese (bread, veggies, apples) and chocolate fondue (assortment of brownies, marshmallows, fruit, etc.). My girlfriend and I were about to explode by the end of our meal.
We ordered the following:
California Salad - I love the combination of candied nuts, fruit, and blue cheese in a salad. So perfect. This salad isn't really unique to Melting Pot, but I highly recommend it for your salad if you don't mind blue cheese.
Bacon & Jalapeño Cheese - Delicious~ Pretty standard white cheese, but with bacon and jalapeno bits. We requested "spicy", but I guess American standard of spicy doesn't really match the Asian standard. It wasn't spicy at all. Still pretty delicious~ The bread that came with it was pretty meh. It would have been much better if the bread came toasted. It tasted kind of dry and stale, even with the cheese. The veggies and fruit were fresh and tasty with the cheese though.
Land & Sea - Pretty good, but can't beat the cheese and the chocolate fondue. The entree is a pot of boiling broth that you dip your choice of meat and side of veggies into (like hot pot). The Land & Sea came with chicken, steak, and shrimp. I personally enjoyed the steak and shrimp the most. The quality of the steak was better than I expected; surprisingly tender. The server helpfully explained how long to cook each meat, which I really appreciated. The entree comes with an array of sauces on the side (you can request more of both the side of veggies and sauces at any point). My personal favorites were the curry sauce and the blue cheese. I think there's a sauce that fits everyone's preference (the server explained which sauces usually pair well with the different meats).
Cookies 'N Cream Marshmallow Dream - I really can't decide if I like the cheese or chocolate fondue more, but dessert was definitely one of the best parts of the meal. We got the Cookies 'N Cream Marshmallow Dream with the marshmallow on the side in case it was too sweet. It turned out to be a good idea. I can't even imagine how sweet the milk or white chocolate is, because the dark chocolate was already really sweet. Even without trying the milk or white chocolate, I think anything with dark chocolate is the way to go (if you like dark chocolate in the first place). The course came with pineapples, strawberries, brownies, marshmallows, pound cake, etc. Lots of choices that are all amazing in their own way when dipped in the chocolate (the brownies themselves are good without being covered in chocolate). Again... Unlimited.
Overall, a great date location if I ignore the speed of service. I highly recommend it for a nice date night. read more
