I had high hopes for 1910 Public House, especially after a trusted friend raved about their experience there. Unfortunately, my recent Sunday visit for a takeout order left me thoroughly disappointed, and nearly $50 lighter with very little to show for it. The Food: I ordered two items: the pimento cheese fritters and the shrimp and grits. The pimento cheese fritters were, in a word, average. They looked and tasted like standard fried cheese balls--nothing visually impressive, nothing exciting about the flavor, and at $16 (or $4 a piece), I expected something with a little more creativity or punch especially at entree pricing for an appetizer. It was just pimento cheese, deep fried. That's it. Just as literal as could be. The shrimp and grits was the bigger disappointment. At $26, I expected a hearty, well-portioned dish. What I got was four average-sized shrimp and barely any andouille sausage--and I mean barely. It was just one thin slice of smoked sausage, cut in half, and placed in the entire dish. That was it. The portion felt light the moment I picked up the bag, and once I got to my friend'd and opened it, that feeling was confirmed. I will say, as an avid Yelp user I did my homework before ordering. I looked through photos on their page and noticed that their Shrimp & Grits looked completely different across three separate photos. When I asked the staff about it when I arrived, they mentioned the menu rotates every twelve weeks, which is fine, but the inconsistency made it hard to know what I was actually ordering. Atmosphere: I didn't dine in, but from what I could see, the space seemed nice. It's located in a charming, up-and-coming part of Lilburn, and the staff I interacted with were friendly and pleasant. So there's that. Final Thoughts: This meal was definitely not worth $50. It wasn't worth the drive, and honestly, it wasn't worth the effort. The food was underwhelming, the portions were stingy for the price, and the value just wasn't there. My friend loved the place, so maybe they caught a good day, but based on my experience, I don't know if I'll personally be returning. If I'm being honest, if I wasn't so tired then and it wasn't as far as it was, I would've just driven back, returned the food, and gotten a refund. read more

Public House is a staple restaurant in downtown Lilburn! I have not been back to dine in for a few years, but the service was spectacular. My friend and I came in around lunch time on a Monday, little to no crowd. There is a back lot for parking or street parking in front. Our waiter Jessica (Shoutout!!) was so patient and gave 11/10 service. Thank you for the recommendations girl! Met my family for dinner here after driving down from DC. 1910 Public House was nicely decorated for the holidays and was warm and inviting. I was a little late getting there, and they had already ordered drinks and appetizers. We were a party of 11, and what stuck out to me was the service. They were very friendly and constantly checked on us. I ordered the Bourbon Glazed Salmon. It came with okra-tomato-onion saute and corn pudding. My brother got a cup of gumbo, so I included a picture of it too. I didn't get photos of others' meals because I was hungry. The salmon was ok. I was a bit disappointed after tasting, it was bland, and then I realized they left off the bourbon sauce. I informed the server and she came out with a small serving of it. When you arrive at this little hideaway location you're greeted by friendly staff. The vibes are very cozy a perfect place for date night . I love the curtains that separated the tables it creates a. Layer of intimacy that's really refreshing. We had a reservation for 6pm our waiter Mike was friendly, communicative and helpful. We started with the Pork belly If it were crisped a little bit more it would be perfect especially the fatty parts of the pork belly which is the best part . The flavors were great but it was just tooo gelatinous for us personally. Flavor wise It paired perfectly with the soft jalapeño pudding but sadly it was just too much texture wise. For our mains we ordered the Burger . The flavor is very good but the bun was a tad to thick for the burger to bun ratio . It would have been better if it were smashed just a little bit more . Sadly the the fried pickles taste a bit off not sure if the bread crumbs are also gluten free as I know that thy also offer GF options but they tasted very stiff almost like stale cardboard. Came here to try out the food for lunch because I see the reviews on google were great, but unfortunately I did not like it much. The fruit cup that came with the kids meal was a nice size and very in season - juicy & delicious :) My son really loved his cheeseburger and ate it all in less than 10 minutes. Fish & chips - had a great crunch to it but extremely bland. I added salt & hotsauce to it as well as tartar sauce but it just lacked so much flavor to the point I got tired of eating it. We had dinner the other night at 1910. It had been many years since we chose to have an evening meal at the only restaurant in LIlburn . HUGE improvement, in regards to menu and quality of the food! My husband had the fried chicken steak and I had the farro dish with vegetables/fried egg. Both were "Very Good"! Special recognition to Kathryn, the manager and our server, Morgan. Both women provided excellent service. We arrived one night after Xmas and did not have reservations. Yes, I have been critical before about the menu at 1919 Public House. We have supported this establishment since it opened. The grits were creamy, the shrimp perfectly cooked, and the flavors were spot on--rich, comforting, and full of Southern charm. The service was outstanding--Melissa took great care of us, making sure every detail of our meal was just right. Ate lunch today with a party of 6. The group was seated pretty quickly, after reviewing the menu our orders were placed. Nearly 25 minutes later we asked our waitress for status on our food. The food arrived 7/10 minutes later. Having ordered a large Caesar salad with chicken salad, I was a bit disappointed in the condition of the lettuce. I recommend the plant based shrimp dish. The artichoke makes it DELISH. We were the second people in the restaurant for lunch at 11 a.m. Then, my avocado toast showed up prepared incorrectly. I asked for it to be prepared with a soft cooked fried egg the first time and the second time. The first time it had scrambled eggs on it. The second time it had a hard cooked fried egg on it. I have been eating at this restaurant since it first opened. Lately, it's been way off. The Caesar salad dressing is awful, doesn't taste like a Caesar at all. One visit: the fish and chips was over battered and detached from the fish. Another time, the cook on my husband's burger was served wrong twice. The manager never came to the table because we were told he or she was too busy. The next visit I ordered the 1910 burger only to discover they have changed the recipe (leave excellent alone)! The last visit I ordered the carbonara and it was too salty, so I sent it back, and ordered catfish. The catfish looked blackened, the fry on it looked triple cornmealed, so dark. Catfish is usually golden. I can't believe they sent it out like that. The waitress had to notice that I didn't eat it. I didn't want to complain again. If I worked there and saw that a patron didn't indulge, I would have asked and taken it off. I'm done. And I LOVED it there. If there is a new chef, I can understand introducing a new menu or changing things up, but leave the staples alone. read more

Neighborhood gem. Met a friend here for early dinner. It's a lovely spot. They have outside seating. We sat indoors because of the rain. The seating is spacious so you don't feel like you're on top of others. Service was excellent as well. Our server was super friendly. The food was very good. It's a lot of food. I got fried green tomatoes and a salad. I couldn't finish my fried green tomatoes and didn't even start on the salad. My friend got the cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. Don't support restaurants that impose a mandatory restaurant/service fee (separate from the gratuity). In a world where everyone is fighting inflation, it's disgusting to have to see these made-up tariffs when placing my order. I understand that businesses in a COVID/post-COVID world need some help, but just raise the menu prices if you need to cover increased expenses. I'd usually be more than happy to tip a little when placing a pick-up order because I understand that dealing with customers isn't the easiest job in the world. But these predatory practices shouldn't be supported. And then to have the stones, the absolute gall to auto set a 15% tip on top of that? For a pick up order? Hilarious. It had been a couple of years since I've been here. Decided to try it for dinner tonight and was very disappointed. The bartender (Doug) was very nice, but didn't go above and beyond as I feel he should have after hearing my opinion of the mussels. The dish was not hot and they forgot a key ingredient for the sauce. Supposed to be shallots and tomatoes with a lemon cream broth. They forgot the tomatoes and when I brought this to his attention, he went back to the kitchen and brought me four cherry tomatoes cut in half, cold, and drizzled with olive oil. Needless to say, this dish was not prepared correctly, and was served cold. He asked my if the tomatoes made it better and I told him no, and communicated that the dish was not good, and I didn't eat it. He never offered a discount, or anything. We had been before and the food was edible and the service was fair. This time though with three people in or behind the bar, no one greeted us after 15 minutes and they were literally going out of their way to not make eye contact which started to feel so uncomfortable that other patrons started to notice. We decided to leave and head to Agavero and not give money to those who didn't wish to serve us. We ordered a dip for an appetizer, two chicken bacon clubs & an order of kids fish with chips. Our appetizer never came. Me and my son's food came 15 minutes before my partner. Even once our food came, she never came to ask if everything came out okay and if we needed anything else. The sandwich was good but sweet potato fries were terrible. She also never introduced Herself either. She treated everyone else around us great. There were two black people in our group and the entire restaurant and you could tell by the serve she was very racist. We would never eat here again or recommend.
