Went here to try their showcase burger for Gwinnett Burger Week 2026 and it did not disappoint! Even though I'm not a fan of a pretzel bun this Burger was delicious! One reason was bc it wasn't a smash patty but 1/4 beef patty cooked medium so it was very juicy and flavorful! The smoked gouda, grilled onions and jalapeños just all went together so very well. Only thing that could've made it better was if it was on a croissant ! We also got there during happy hour so we shared a plate of loaded fries for $6 which seemed a little pricey considering the amount of frozen fries you got BUT they were loaded with bacon. The jalapeños would've been better on them either pickled or candied instead of straight raw. That change would've distracted from the frozen fries. So the Burger definitely gets 5 stars as did our server who was FANTASTIC but the fried get 3 stars so settling at 4 stars over all. The place was hopping bc it was such a beautiful day so their patio was full yet it was nice seeing the children playing and it wasn't overly loud. One of my favorite places in downtown Lawrenceville!
We got the pimento cheese platter with pita, tzatziki, ranch, celery, and a bunch of drinks. The mule of the month (blackberry) WAS AMAZING! Perfect balance of tart and sweet. Pimento cheese was easily the best pimento cheese I've had. It was not too mayoy which I think is hard to do with pimento cheese. Also the cheese sharp but still mild enough to let the pimento peppers shine. The cucumber salad that was served on the side was probably my favorite thing here! Must get! Very reminiscent of cava's pickled onions. The pickled tomatoes in the salad were the highlight of the dish - sweet and tangy. Perfect balance to the rich pimento cheese. Ranch was AWESOME. Homemade for sure. * perfect bite - sandwich a healthy spoon of pimento in between a slice of pita. Put a slice of cucumber salad and tazazki on top. DELISH! Denise was an ABSOLUTE PLEASURE! She is so kind and real with her recommendations. She really cares about customer experience. Have to come back for the pimento cheese and cucumber salad!
If you're looking for a place that's dog friendly with a great outdoor atmosphere this is definitely a great place to go. It's really nice to see how friendly and kind the staff are to both pups and patrons. Random note : Definitely have to highlight how comfortable the chairs were. I feel like alot of outdoor seating establishments comfortably is always a crap shoot the chairs are either metal or too small but the chairs here were pretty great. We ordered the peach mule which was tasty and sweet and switched to the grapefruit Paloma's to follow which tasted like summer. For appetizers we ordered the wings unfortunately they were a bit too crispy and dry but must say very tasty blue cheese . For our mains I ordered A cheddar burger sub the raw onions for grilled while the burger was juicy but slightly unseasoned the order came with both raw and grilled onions which was a bit ridiculous. Fries were tasty & seasoned well. My sister ordered a burger melt with American cheese no mushrooms on sourdough instead of rye . She received a burger on sourdough with mushrooms zero cheese when we asked the waitress if she could bring just a slice of cheese she seemed a bit hesitant to go back in the kitchen to ask for it . There was a moment when she said she was having issues putting it into the POS system cause it was making her charge us for a slice of cheese which was very bizarre cause the burger melt is supposed to come with cheese . It took her a little over 10 min to actually bring the single slice of cheese so by the time we were able to eat our food was pretty cold . While this isn't a reflection of the service we got the impression that the kitchen staff were kinda messing with us because we had these substitutions. Though It's also possible our waitress didn't put it in the system correctly but I would suggest if modifacations aren't feasible, it should just be said that it's not allowed to avoid a frustrating dining experience. My husband and I had a nice day out with our dog, walking in a nearby park. We thought we'd have dinner and picked Universal Joint because they allowed dogs on their outdoor patio. The evening was nice, my patty melt, my husbands Philly cheese steak, and our waiter, Travis, were all great. The ambiance however left a lot to be desired. Understand, I love kids. I have no problem with children out in public. I also understand the difficulty in finding childcare while you work. Yet apparently some employees needed to bring their children to work at the restaurant. The outdoor patio was their playground and the 3 of them ran around screaming and yelling, run around tables, turning over chairs to make a fort, climbing on the wall surrounding the patio, crawling through the planters, and generally being obnoxious. If you were trying to have a nice dinner it was hard with kids running by your table screaming at the top of their lungs and throwing toys, your dog being nervous because of the running and noise making, and your personal space being totally ignored. I know it's a difficult situation for bored kids, but when you're paying for dinner it's not the surroundings you expect. We didn't even wait to have dessert, we just wanted to leave. Be considerate of your customers and do better.
We came here on a Saturday night and sat on the patio where they were playing live music with our two pups. It was great that they are super dog friendly, brought out a nice big bowl of water and sat us in a corner. The customer service was great, the host was super friendly and our waitress was very accommodating. I was indecisive on a cider (triple jam cider) and the draft cocktail (lavender lemonade) which she allowed me to try both before I picked. By the way, the Bold Triple Jam Cider is super delicious!! On to the food... they have quite a bit of selection we choose a California Burger (we ordered medium well, but it came out well, well done) however the flavor was there but the "micro greens" they placed on top was a bit old (check out the pic) and they didn't need to add it. However, the universal fries... we felt like it was missing half of the order.. for $11 it was literally a hand full of fries, smothered in scallions/ cut up jalapeños... it was lacking actual fries, cheese and bacon. So, this was really disappointing. Overall, we would give them another try.
I was there in a Friday night and they were pretty busy we were lucky to find 2 chairs at the bar. We sat down and the bartender was awesome. She was friendly, patient and helpful as we decided on what to order. The bar is a cool chill spot with music some people started to dance at one point. There is no dance floor but people managed with the space.
Had a good lunch here with a friend! I ordered the turkey pita club with fries. It had cajun turkey, smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, arugula, tomatoes and chipotle aioli on lightly toasted pita bread. It was delicious!! All the flavors paired together well and it was a great marriage of flavors. I really enjoyed the chipotle aioli also. It came with fries that were also really good. They were lightly seasoned, but it was just enough. Nice and crispy to my liking. My friend got the salmon BLT. She enjoyed it as well. We got Blue Moon. It wasn't on tap though, just bottled. Service was decent.
If you're looking for casual dining, this is the place. Emphasis on casual. Definitely not the place I'd recommend for anything too formal. People had theirs dogs around, kids were playing, it was very casual. Not at all a problem, I just never got the vibe from Yelp! It was a pleasant casual though, very familiar. Rating 3 stars. The food was good, nothing to write home about but good. I ordered the salmon BLT, a Yelp picture encouraged me and I'm glad I did. The sandwich was great, well seasoned, however the bread did get a big soggy relatively quickly. Wasn't too much of a problem. The fries were skinny, which aren't my favorite fries. I should've ordered tater tots in said. I asked for a side of ranch and that definitely brought together the meal. My favorite part of the meal was the drink. I ordered the Blueberry Lavender Vodka Lemonade and it was great! Didn't taste like liquor at all, but the kick was there. Overall, I'd come back!

With quite a few options to choose from when eating in downtown Lawrenceville, we went for a spot that had a wide variety of food. From burgers to salads and sandwiches, this spot can get any water in your party something to eat no problem! I ordered a Turkey pita club and my husband the special burger for burger week, and both were tasty and flavorful although nothing exceptional. We did like the ambience of an old garage and liked how it was decorated.the staff was professional and kind, and seemed to be invested in their work, not just there for a paycheck. A solid spot for a burger and a beer with easy parking and walkable to the town.

We have eaten here a couple other times, but it has been quite a while. Tonight we decided to stop in and had wanted to eat outside but it was a bit chilly so we sat inside where it was pretty loud. The service was good. We were able to order quickly and we didn't have to wait long for our meals. I got the turkey club pita and it was sooo good. It was so big I ate half and then ate the other half the next day and I think it was better the second day. The cucumber salad is ok. My friend liked the mushroom Swiss burger and said it was cooked to his liking. Some of the fries were not hot and it seemed there may have been old and new fries mixed in. There were tons of fries. I'm already thinking about when will I make it back there to get another turkey club. read more
Gotta be honest, we can't stay away from UJoint! A local place in downtown Lawrenceville. They have cleaned it up, nice bar, brighter, still very friendly & the food is still on point! Revamped the menu & still great choices. Old 1-2 Burger is not on the menu, our daughters FAVORITE. I have never tried. Our serve/bartender said old favorites can still be made. We laughed they it is now the "secret menu" item! Well they made it PERFECTLY!!! My hubby had a Brisket Sandwich with horseradish sauce- enjoyed. Both got tots. Oh, they have great bar selections too- a good menu of drinks. I had the blueberry/lavender slush- you can taste the booz, $11. I LOVED my glass & mentioned I was about to steal it- tender told me they are old from St Patties Day & approved me legally removing it from the premises. They were trying to get rid of them. How have I managed to not review this place yet? I absolutely adore UJ, and in this weird pandemic, it's one of the safest places to grab lunch in downtown Lawrenceville. They do offer indoor dining, but their patio is where it's at. Spacious and equipped with space heaters, the fact that UJ is in a former gas station offers the perfect setup for opening a large window and getting the air circulating. The menu is full of everything from large salads and standards like burgers and quesadillas to more inventive dishes. I've tried many of them and always leave satisfied with the food, service, and more than decent beer list. Highly recommend this stop on the corner! read more
I've been here a couple of times and what I appreciate most about this place is most of the time I can play my favorite songs with their touch tunes. However, even when they have a DJ or playing a game they have great service and food and a fun atmosphere. I get the most community-feel here out of all the restaurants in downtown lawrenceville read more

Came here for lunch. The outdoor seating was awesome. Loved how the doors opened on the side, so even if you're inside, you still feel outside. The food was delicious, too. The only thing that made it 4 stars was that our server had a runny nose. That was not cool. he or the head server should have asked him to go home or wear a mask. read more

I been driving past this place a few times already and I've always wanted to try it and finally got to try it !!! It's a cute little place! I love how you can sit in the patio, outside or inside. It was alittle confusing finding where the door was. Lol. The service was 10/10 We ordered the universal fries and the spicy crispy egg rolls to share. The universal fries were really good, I would recommend! 9/10!!! Lastly the spicy crispy egg roll is a must!!! 10/10! We were even thinking about ordering one more!!! As for our entrees we got the shrimp tacos abs the patty melt. Both were okay. Shrimp tacos - 7/10 it just needed something more. Too plain! All though the chips and pick were delicious! The patty melt - 6/10 .. it was too dry. We definitely want to come back for the eggrolls and try the different entrees they have! read more
This place is pretty good and I love the workers (very respectful) They accidentally put Mayo on one of our orders , after informing the server he gave us a brand new sandwich and allowed us to keep the other one . (I thought that was so kind; ps thank you so much) The restaurant plays really cool music and everyone is so friendly; I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more
Universal Joint sits in downtown Lawrenceville just a bit away from all the major spots. They have their own parking, which is nice. I met my date here (thankfully it was our 5th date) and grabbed a booth. I had a big tv in front of me and lots of noise behind me. They do have an enclosed covered outdoor area with high top seating (should've done that) and then a couple booths in a walkway leading up to the bar area. The seating isn't very comfy (all wooden seating). Well, I teetered on what rating to give this place. By all means, this place represents a dive bar very well. The seating sucks and the atmosphere is loud. BUT, if you can get past that, you'll find a nice selection of beer and cocktails plus the BEST spicy egg rolls you'll ever have in your life. Seriously, I was NOT expecting them to be that good and spicy! Like, punch in the throat spicy. They are house made the morning of, and they add cayenne pepper and jalapeños. A MUST get! Our meals were insanely large. I got the chicken salad sandwich and it came with a ton of tasty tots. My sandwich was ok, but I had lots to take home with me. My date had a lot of food to take home too. I really do love the draft selection here and they have a limited rotating selection on their back page that show extra special drafts that are in, sold out or coming soon. They do carry Blake's Cider, which was one reason I got excited (my coworker had come here before and ordered the Blake's mango habanero, which I'm in love with BUT they didn't have it on this visit). Overall, great place to hangout with friends but I would not take a date here. 3.5 rounded up to 4 bc of the spicy egg rolls and draft selection. read more

Universal joint is located in downtown lawrenceville right on the square. It's located near the blue rooster bakery. Small parking lot and street parking is always available. It's an amazing spot to grab great food and drinks, any day of the week! I have tried the Buffalo chicken sandwich with ranch instead of blue cheese. Let me see it was the best Buffalo chicken sandwich I've had. I've also tried the cheddar bacon burger which was huge and very tasty. They offer a variety of food ranging from sandwiches, burgers, quesadillas, wings, etc. The ambiance and vibe is perfect for a great night out. I highly recommend universal joint for your next dinner, good news is they are open late too. Check it out tonight for dinner, no need to cook! read more

The best part of this outing was the strawberry basil mule. One of my friend's drink wasn't as strong as mine so some lack of consistency there. Also the bartender and a few servers were not wearing masks. I couldn't really tell who was working and who wasn't. They don't have uniforms and some people are working and then having drinks at the bar. So I'm confused. The food was pretty tasty but they burnt my salmon blt bread. I went open faced. The queso was also pretty tasty. They have a lot of space and great for COVID. read more

I went here on a Friday after work. I must say, the food and service was way better than the last time. This time I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was really good, perfect flavor and not too spicy . Tatar tots were really good too. read more

First time at UJ and the atmosphere is pretty relaxing. Servers are friendly and helpful. Came here for burger week and wanted to try their Bunh Mi burger. Burger was nice and juicy but the veggies had no flavor. On a traditional bunh mi sandwich the veggies are pickled. So if they pickled the veggies the burger would be on par. Pulled pork nachos is something that you definitely should try. The cheese mixed with the BBQ sauce give you the perfect mixture of flavor. read more

My book club met at Universal Joint on a Tuesday afternoon. Initially we were seated on the outdoor patio. As it started sprinkling, we moved inside. Other tables put up patio umbrellas but our table didn't have that setup. Anyway, we sat at a large high top table and continued talking. The group rated the food as 9.5/10 which was much higher than the book!!! I had my usual arugula salad with salmon added on top with the lemon zest vinaigrette- so delicious (every single time!). Also at the table were fish tacos, chicken salad sandwiches, and a mushroom burger. Everyone was thrilled with their food. UJ is a former gas station turned into relaxed dining. There is an inside bar and seating, covered patio, and outside seating. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio. Don't expect a fancy place, but the food is top quality. read more

This place was good. Really nice vibe and people around. The waitress was kinda rude but she was pregnant so I get it. I hate driving over downtown Lawrenceville but they have a nice parking lot just to make it easier. (Most places don't) I ordered some lemon pepper wings as appetizer and shrimp tacos (with cabbage, cilantro, aioli and avocado creme). You get 3 tacos with chips and salsa for $9 (not bad at all, right?). They have an outdoor section with games for kids and adults. Also they're dogs friendly so not only I spent a good time with my friends, but got to pet cute doggies!! (unbeatable) ESPAÑOL Este lugar es bueno. Muy buen ambiente y gente alrededor. La mesera fue un poco grosera pero estaba embarazada, así que lo entiendo. Odio conducir por el centro de Lawrenceville pero este lugar tiene un buen estacionamiento para que sea más fácil. (La mayoría de los lugares no tienen estacionamiento) Pedí unas alitas lemon pepper como aperitivo y tacos de camarón (con col, cilantro, alioli y crema de aguacate). Te sirven 3 tacos con chips y salsa por $ 9 (no está nada mal, ¿verdad?). Disponen de una sección exterior con juegos para niños y adultos.
