This was my second visit. Beautiful ambiance, great food, huge portions. The only complaint that I have is the customer service could be a bit better. I wanted to like this place, I mean the service seemed pretty friendly, but I was disappointed that they didn't offer an actual veggie dinner plate as a lot of people have become vegetarians. So I ended up buying everything individually which came to about $25 because I ended up ordering cornbread separately as well. The food! The food was ok, the collard greens were undercooked and not seasoned to my liking, the cabbage was different with all of the extra veggies and the mac & cheese was super creamy and well seasoned. I was not particularly a fan of the sweet cornbread with the birthday cake drizzle on top. The Ambiance The restaurant is pretty nice, with a full bar, projection screen and pretty good seating. Went on a Friday night for dinner! Had a few bumps in the beginning of our experience when a table that came in after us was helped before us because we didn't have a server, but once they remembered our waitress was very kind and prompt in bringing us what we needed and our food. Inside, the booths and tables were plentiful and they also had a bar that people were dining at and having a great time at also. Cute photo op by the door too. I got the oxtail Rasta pasta and he got the oxtail plate with Mac & cheese and fries. Both dishes came out hot and extremely flavorful. The Mac & cheese also had a bit of BBQ sauce or something drizzled on that added to the sweetness. Oxtail was tender and plentiful. You may look at the prices and get a bit of sticker shock, but the fresh quality and portion you get is 100% worth it. I will be back! My only recommendation is for them to update their hours online, because they were closing around 9pm when online it says they're open until midnight on Fridays. read more

Stopped at this spot on the way to get my braids done. I had good service at the bar by Brittney and I grabbed a drink and some oxtails, rice and peas, greens and sweet potatoes. I like to try everything. The place was not busy but a few people came in later on. Food was good. I wish I had a bit more meat/bones vs rice for what I paid; the greens we kind of sweet but they were okay, and the sweet potatoes were not my favorite, needed more like marshmallow or something. My total was 80 dollars so ya know I expect excellent food for that price. But the drinks and vibe was nice. I will probably go again read more

OMG!!! We had jerk chicken quesadillas as an appetizer & it was HUGE, savory and really could have been the meal by itself! My guy has the Rasta Pasta with the jerk chicken as his entree & has been taking about it none stop. I asked the young lady if I could have extra side & she said yes without an issue. I have the Jerk Chicken with Steamed Veggies, Mac & Cheese(Dacks Mac), Candied Yam, Garlic Mash & plantains. Between the amazing flavor, perfect temperature & beautiful presentation I had to take pictures. Most highest compliments to the chef! Please keep in mind I order a lot because I thought the portions would be small like in most restaurants. They WERE NOT!!! The food is amazing! Definitely try the shrimp loaded nachos and the quesadillas -- both were so flavorful. The oxtail was really good, and the shrimp jerk pasta did not disappoint. Tried this place with my family yesterday and it was a hit for us! Free parking which is a plus. It's in a plaza and not hard to find. Upon walking in we immediately got a warm vibe. The music was nice, the decor was pretty, and the server greeted us with open arms. She was so pleasant to interact with throughout our evening. I got the seafood nachos which has both nacho cheese and cool ranch Doritos. It was soooo good and you get a big bang for your buck. I felt like I ate so much but there was still so much left. My only stickler is that it wasn't HOT when served, I could tell it sat there for a few minutes because the cheese was starting to settle in and harden. My boyfriend got the fried shrimp, macaroni and cheese, and fried rice. I tried some of his macaroni and fried shrimp and both were good. The sauce they had for the shrimp was so tasty, it was like a honey mustard with a twist. The food is a little on the pricey side but these days everything is expensive so why not spend with a black owned business? We will definitely be back! read more

Tried Dacks late one evening food at the restaurant was okay but definitely leftover jerk wings & oxtails. Even though the oxtails were tender. Husband loved the Mac & cheese. Ordered through DoorDash the Mac & cheese tasted sour. My husband raved about it & the collard greens the evening we ate in the restaurant. However he didn't like the collard greens he got from our DoorDash order. He also said the Mac & cheese tasted sour before I tried my order of Mac & cheese. Dacks needs to be consistent on days that aren't Tuesday's & weekends. We may try to come on a busy day to see if we can get some decent fresh food that has others have been raving about!! I almost didn't do this review because I wanted to low-key be a gatekeeper! I visited for the first time this Tuesday on a super RANDOM whim and whewwww chile!!! There was absolutely NOTHING that I did not like. From the way I was greeted, to the ambience, to the vibe, to the server Brittany, to the DJ DubbleK, and last, but DEFINITELY not least the amazing food (I don't know who the chef was but they prepared our item with precision, expertise and LOVE). I had a time! I am so elated to know that I have somewhere I can go in Gwinnett that checks all the boxes for me. I didn't take pictures (their stories on social media does a great job though) because I'm typically not wowed like this our community. We came in first time visiting this place that has been hitting IG & was greeted with open arms then placed order, the Mgr or owner Troy told us as a first timers, " we will give you the best experience".....2 hrs later no food, but yet orders that was placed by walk-in and maybe online was leaving quick, finally the bartender came over to checked on us bc she noticed that we ordered awhile ago & people has came & gone but we haven't gotten no food, as well as the other servers. Troy the owner or Mgr wanted to inform us that the food is begin made fresh by several chef in the back and that was an hour after the servers & bartender came by but still waited an extra 30 mins for the food to finally reach the table. I will say the food was good, the servers were nice, but time to go, Troy was nowhere to be found or seen to see how our experience was as first timer. I wanted so bad to love this place. We've gone there twice. The nachos were amazing m they were $32. The other food was just ok. I would've rated them higher but the wait time to get our food was terrible. The first time we waited 1.5 hours and yesterday we waited an hour. Waited 45 mins for my order to be taken, was told the food (pasta) will take 5 minutes..it's took another 20mins (totaling 1hr 10mins). There's often no one at the register to take an order, and they don't answer for the phone for you to call ahead ..which causes the already small space (about 5ft x 5ft) to be very crowded appearing as though they have a large crowd..but it's really because they take 1-2 orders every 30mins. read more
