We celebrated a relative's birthday at Provino's Italian Restaurant, and it was such a great experience! It was perfect for a birthday celebration. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Of course, the famous garlic rolls did not disappoint...they're always a highlight! The portions were generous, and everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. The service was also wonderful. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure the birthday celebration felt special without being over the top. Overall, it was a fantastic night filled with great food, great service, and great company. I apologize... I did not take any pictures of the food. In all honesty, there are already plenty of pictures on the current reviews. My pictures wouldn't have added anything special. I'm going to talk about three things: the salad, the bread, and the zita al mondo. First: Zita al Mondo. I had this dish and it was delicious. I wish it had a bit more meat- that's my personal preference, but the dish was great as it was. I ordered an extra meatball and they asked whether I wanted in within the dish or in the side. I told them as long as they brought me a meatball, we'd be good. I even said they could bring it on a stick. Honestly, i was expecting one of those really large, fist-sized meatballs, but it was normal. The meatball itself wasn't particularly special either. The dish was filled with tube pasta, drowned in sauce, and I found some sausage here and there, but if you want some meat in your food- this isn't the dish for you. The best part was the mozzarella topping that was just perfectly caramelized on top and it covered everything. Next: salad. The salad was pretty good- iceberg lettuce, onions, pickled beets (most of us avoided those), garbanzo beans, red lettuce, sliced cucumbers, wedges of tomato, some shredded mozzarella, and a simple olive oil and red wine vinegar dressing with lemon juice and some Italian seasoning. The lettuce looked limp, but retained its crunchiness. Everything tasted fresh and they all complimented each other. Last: bread. The garlic rolls were very interesting! They came in bowls with clarified butter poured over top and pooled beneath, and with smears of grated green (Yea, I said GREEN) garlic on each roll. Personally, I added a touch of salt to them, because I like a saltier butter, but the grated garlic was really good despite being fresh! It wasn't too spicy or overwhelming. It was milder and just had the bite of garlic at the end. The roll, itself, oh my! The roll was CRISPY on the exterior and fluffy and steamy inside. These little yeast rolls were everything! I ate at least 12 of them on my own! SO GOOD! The restaurant was beginning to get packed by the time we were leaving at 6:00 PM, but even then the noise level was very low. They had music playing, but at a nice low volume that didn't make it so anyone needed to speak up. The waitresses and such did a great job of checking in with us and bringing more rolls and salad and refilling our drinks. They were also friendly and patient. Would Income back? Yes! Great restaurant! Classy without being snobbish, inviting, relaxing, tasty dishes, and the bread- oh the bread! Give Provino's a shot if you haven't been. They're great! read more

We walked in on a Friday around 8 with no wait. The hostess was very nice. Our waitress, Sarah, was great and gave us recommendations that worked out well. The mozzarella sticks were some of the best I've ever eaten. The cheese pull must have gone across the whole table. The salad was excellent and the beats were a nice addition. I got the chicken with eggplant and really enjoyed it. The wife got a pasta dish with Alfredo sauce and chicken and really enjoyed it. The garlic knots were just the right amount of oil and garlic. We came by for dinner on a Monday night so it was pretty empty and we got seated immediately. My son was given crayons and a coloring sheet to distract himself. Once we ordered our food, garlic rolls and salad was immediately brought out and replenished as we finished them. Our entrees came not too long after. They also give you the option to order just marinara sauce or meat sauce with your pasta. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana with meat sauce. I can't remember what my husband ordered, but it was a meaty pasta dish. Both came out steaming hot, very cheesy, and with plenty of sauce. It took a little bit for it to cool down enough that I could eat it, but I enjoyed eating the garlic rolls and dipping it in my pasta sauce while I waited for it to cool down since there was enough sauce in my dish. It was delicious. My dish had multiple layers of eggplant, and my husband's dish had plenty of meat in it. Both were really good. I also liked that our server checked on us regularly and offered more rolls throughout our meal as well. I think she could tell that I was really enjoying eating the rolls. It was a great, quiet meal that we got to enjoy on a random night out with our son. This is my go to Italian restaurant in Snellville. This place is located in the corner of Hwy 78 & Hwy 124-Scenic Hwy. This place has been around for ages. The atmosphere is very pieceful like being in small cafe in Italy. There are small rooms separating the customers. Our wonderful server, Emma goes above in beyond. She is very patient and attentive to all our customers. The Salad and Garlic are always brought right away. The Garlic is awesome. My wife had the Shrimp and Scallop pasta. Superb! I always order my lovers Pasta which comes with Sausage, Meatball and Mushrooms. Can't go wrong with this order! If you're on your way to UGA, and going by Hwy 78, stop by since this on your way. The manager on duty was rude to my mom and it was her birthday. The bathrooms were dirty and out of toilet paper. It is the Holidays and they had a party of 40 so I'm sure it was stressful. The waiter looked so tired but he was helpful and polite. The food was good as usual. Tonight's experience there wasn't the best however typically they do a much better job. After hearing many good reviews, I've decided to come here for dinner. I went on a Friday night, and was surprisingly not busy. So once immediately sat, I got my drinks shortly. I ordered the angel hair dalvina which is angel hair pasta with spinach, artichokes, and tomatoes. I was given salad and some garlic rolls which were pretty good and fresh. The pasta was also flavorful and really good. I've never had artichoke like that before either and was a great experience to try it. We dined at Provino's near the Buford Mall for the first time last night. I've been to the restaurant at the other end of the plaza dozens of times and never considered Provino's. Going to Provino's is like going back in time when a couple can have an appetizer, all-you-can-eat-salad bowl, bread bowl, 2 entrees, a drink and dessert for $75. And everything was great. Service was great. Ambiance was that of a more expensive restaurant. No smells. I ordered the shrimp and scallop linguine with Alfredo sauce, expecting two or three shrimp and maybe a couple scallops. To my surprise the plate had a couple dozen chunks of meat. The endless salad bowl didn't skimp on ingredients either and was delicious. The bread bowl was delicious soft dough balls in butter and garlic. The slice of cheesecake with strawberries was huge, large enough to share and also delicious. There was so much food we both had another meal in to-go boxes to leave room for dessert. I highly recommend this restaurant. Rant: So many restaurants, including the chain at the end of that plaza, have cut back to small 3 or 4 oz chunks of meat on top of one large mashed potato with a fat asparagus for $30 to $50. Their signature bread and olive oil is now by request only, and somehow the bill is pushing $150 and you leave half filled wondering where $150 went. Many higher end restaurants have started charging for everything, sides are now $9, salads are an extra $15, drinks over-priced. Gone are the days when you could order without looking at all the prices to keep from being shaken down. My hat is off to Provino's as a great value in a time when so many other restaurants are hitting consumers hard on pricing. read more

Provino's has been an annual tradition for me for the past few years. Once or twice I went to their (former) sister restaurant too. If you dine ON your birthday, you can get a complimentary meal, They do not disappoint! I order the same entrée every year because its deliciousness is unbelievable. If you can appreciate spinach tortellini and a good creamy sauce, their Spinach Tortellini Florentine is for you! It comes out piping hot. The kind of hot that you know good and well that you'll burn the roof of your mouth (ouch!) but you can't wait to dig in. They have an amazing salad that is hearty and yummy. It includes beets and chickpeas and those are the two inclusions that make me love it. It's dressed with an Italian dressing. They also give you garlic knots that are swimming in butter but the garlic bits that atop them make them all the more addictive. Lastly, they do give you their spumoni (pistachio) ice cream which has a little Italian cookie on the side. I do not like pistachios, AT ALL, so I usually have to forfeit this. I really wish they'd offer the lemon cookies or something just so that birthday celebrants could have a choice because not everyone eats nuts. That's my ONLY criticism of Provino's. read more

This restaurant used to be a destination for many people to celebrate special occasions: birthdays, retirements, baby showers, engagement parties, or just a very nice dinner. This place has gone down hill FAST! The restaurant was typically very well ran with nice employees that made you feel special. Not anymore. The girl at the front had in cat ears as a headband, while three other teenagers stood around on their iPhones and ignored people's needs. I saw one employee sitting on a crate outside the kitchen on his iPhone. Another food runner had in ear buds. What? Who let this happen??? Our server seem to have an attitude, maybe it was an off night for her. The food? The salad didn't taste like normal and their awesome rolls were like rocks. When our entrees showed up, I had a small fruit fly type on top of mine. I was already fed up at this point and decided not to say anything. Every one in our party said the food tasted "off" and said they get like this was the last straw. A once great institution is now a shell of itself. I'm looking for another restaurant now to replace my former favorite Italian hot spot. read more

First impressions stepping in, the place had a beautiful bar and ambient atmosphere. It reminded me of a more polished and stylish Buca di Beppo, and had some really pretty items throughout the restaurant. The service also was lovely. Cody was very sweet. We saw him talk a customer through some options on the menu, and he explained everything very well, and in a polite and informative manner. It made us happy to see everyone around us also being very well taken care of. Everything we needed was taken care of promptly and comfortably. Thank you Cody! What we had to eat- Garlic bread rolls: These were light and airy, great texture with a crisp top and soft inner. minced garlic butter on top that had a strong flavor. Salad: It had wonderful vinaigrette dressing and flavorful seasoning, and mix of veggies, chickpeas, beet root, mushrooms etc. I could definitely eat the salad as an entree and be very satisfied. Classic spaghetti with meatballs (Add mushroom): Meatballs were a nice size and flavor was good. Sauce was also well rounded and a great classic composure to the overall dish. Exactly what we expected and hoped for. Canelloni Del Mar: Tube noodles stuffed with lobster, scallops, and shrimp in a super creamy based sauce. Tastes very similar to a lobster bisque like sauce and the overall flavor was also a little on the shellfish sweet side, but exactly what I had hoped for. There is not a single thing I would change about this dish. Our check came on a handwritten tally sheet, something I swear is never used anymore, which also added to the service feeling really personal. Overall, we had a fantastic time, loved the ambience and themed experience. Our service was great, and we would recommend this spot to anyone wanting a fun experience with good food. It's about time I raised provinos to five stars as for many many years they are consistent in their quality, menu options, and traditions. If you come to Provino's at standard that you get the big great bowl of salad with chickpeas and beets and the garlic bread soaked in fresh garlic but their entrées are all fantastic. I have to say I historically get the same thing over and over which is the snapper francese or veal francese. The fish is lightly battered and sautéed in a butter Lemon wine sauce that is out of this world and I cannot produce it or reproduce it ! The sauce is thick, yellow lemony and whether you have fish chicken or veal the sauce is the best I've had at any Italian restaurant. My other favorites hear of course our lasagna, their calamari and fried ravioli appetizers are great for starters. They only serve beer and wine they always have but their staff is always on point, service impeccable, food tasting qualityIs impeccable that's all I can say. Got to come to Provino 's. Provino's is our go to restaurant for a birthday in our family. They are known for their ongoing promotion of a free birthday meal (must go on your actual birthday) where you a get a pasta dinner with proof of I.D. This includes their salad, garlic rolls and a birthday dessert, as it says on their website. We went for my husband's birthday. To share for appetizers, we got the mozzarella sticks, zucchini, and calamari. All were tasty and crispy. We also got the salad and garlic rolls for the table. These are definitely a must have. The salads are delicious and the rolls are addicting. I ordered a special at the time which was a combination of ravioli, manicotti, and lasagna while my husband got the meat ravioli. We loved our entrees. They are simple but done well. For dessert I got the Torta Cioccolato and my husband was given the Spumoni since that is the free dessert for the birthday meal. The chocolate cake was moist and rich. My husband always likes the Spumoni. Our server was also very nice even when we went on a busy night and we were a party of 6. Better this time than the last... I think knowing that what to order and how to - might help the stars a bit... Salad was quite tasty the mozzarella sticks were freshly made. Shrimp, oreganata was kinda disappointing because they use quarter coin sized frozen shrimp and it was floating in some kind of butter with parsley in a little garlic... the cheesy part was that they just sprinkled bread crumbs on top of it and it was really a light, dusting. In fact only a third of them actually had bread crumbs on it. The rest of the food was OK. It seemed fresh, but I was not a fan sauce has maybe I just got the bottom of the barrel because it was filled with just tomato skins not many pieces of tomato. Surprisingly, the Alfredo sauce was the star - and the pasta is cooked fresh so that's always a nice touch. We will try it again and try to order what we like, and hopefully work up to being regulars. Just mentioning the one in Cumming was an epic fair about 3 years ago - it took us this long to come back! read more

There was possibly some seafood in there, but I could not find it. The salad was soggy, like 3 day old iceberg lettuce. Been going since 1985. Last couple of years, dishes don't have the same exquisite taste. Went last night to Buford for a birthday. Had my usual linguini w/ white sauce. It had ZERO taste; sauce was thin as the dishwater in the kitchen; even the little clams had ZERO taste. Red sauce was no better. Another member had the Special which was shrimp parmigian. They overcooked the shrimp (easy to do!) because they simmered them down in the dish, making them tough and chewy. Not good.... Overall, this restaurant still has all the quaintness (and the garlic rolls and salad) but they've become very complacent on what's coming out of the kitchen. read more

We have been eating at Provinos since the mid eighties and it has always been out go to family celebration place. We came for Father's Day and had a poor experience here. The salad was largely just hunks of lettuce core. The rolls used to be delicious, but these were tasteless and tough. My lasagna came out after our other three entrees because of a "misunderstanding". Yet, it was ice cold underneath the melted cheese like they had taken it out of the fridge to cook it in a hurry. Two of our other entrees, bake d spaghettis, were lukewarm with burnt cheese melted on top. Our fourth entree, shrimp scampi was an enormous pile of noodles with 8-10 overcooked shrimp. The waiter did offer to pop my lasagna back into the oven, but it had already been ten minutes past when everyone at the table got their food. read more

Provino's Italian Restaurant is our hometown brand. The first restaurant opened in Atlanta in 1977. The flagship store doesn't seem to exist anymore. There are 6 locations in Georgia and 1 in Tennessee, so you can enjoy the consistent quality of a chain while still appreciating the quality of a restaurant that isn't too cookie cutter. Biggest highlight of Provino's is the unlimited salad and garlic bread with every meal. Some salads have beets in them, which I personally dislike. Bread is always a winner. I ordered the Cioppino during my visit. I would be silly and order the most expensive item on the menu. Long story short, it can be described as good-not-great. I would've liked far more flavors. The interior of Provino's has a delightful rustic charm to it. It's a relaxed atmosphere that allows you feel like you're treating yourself without overindulging. Service was pretty bad during my visit. The server seemed like she was having a bad day, and she didn't try to hide her scowl. She also was honestly not skilled enough to handle a room where so many large parties dined. Overall, Provino's is good not great. It's a fine choice to hold a large family gathering. I don't have anything that comes to mind, but I'd bet that there's far better Italian in the area even at Provino's fairly reasonable price point. read more

Worst italian meal in a long time. Salad was 99% soggy iceberg lettuce with 1 piece of tomato. 1 mushroom and 1 piece of a beet. Ordered the Chicken Francese and asked for extra lemon but the waiter forgot to bring it! Was served a soupy plate of watery 'lemon, butter, wine? soup with overcooked angel hair pasta and soggy breaded chicken that was so soggy the breading all fell off the chicken. This is a big restaurant with big food and big fun! I visited this location on a rainy night with a large group of friends. When I entered, I was surprised by the size of the restaurant - it is huge! And apparently, large groups are their specialty because we were one of many large groups that evening. There were very large lots for parking. In spite of the number of large groups at the restaurant, service was outstanding. They checked on us frequently, were very attentive, and got our food out in a timely manner. Servers were friendly and helpful and seemed to work together to service a large number of patrons. The food was great! The menu was pretty large and had a variety of options. We started with hot garlic rolls, and yes, I confess - I definitely ate more than my fair share. What can I say? I love bread! The dinner salad was tasty, too, and it helped me feel less guilty about the carb loading that occurred later in the evening. When visiting a new Italian spot, I often try the lasagna to get a good idea of what the place is like, and that's what I ordered here. It was excellent, and I did not leave a single bite. No room for dessert this time, but it certainly looked like it had some good ones. read more
