I finally stopped into Coastal Breeze after driving past it night after night while picking my husband up from work. The parking lot is always full, which felt like a pretty solid clue. My uncle and aunt showed up, chairs were pulled together, plates were passed around, and suddenly we were sharing everything like it was a holiday meal. Honestly, that's the best kind of surprise. We were visiting in the area and decided to stop in on a family member's recommendation. The service was excellent. We had the fried calamari to start and came with fried green peppers as well. I am not a fan of calamari so I didn't try that but the green peppers were excellent. The coating had a little spice to it and was delicious as was the dipping sauce. First time trying this restaurant and ordered the grouper imperial, which is not an inexpensive dish. The grouper arrived obviously undercooked, rubbery, translucent, etc. anyone with knowledge of fish would know it's not done. Sent it back and said don't bother to remake it because it was already close to closing. Waiter apologized and took it off the bill which is the bare minimum I would expect in that situation. We tried this restaurant ~1 mo ago. I loved, hubby thought it was o.k. Almost everything is fried. There were pasta dishes that obviously were not fried, but you could add fried seafood to pasta, salads. A lot oof the food was listed as gluten free. Since our son has celiac disease, this is a place he could potentially eat at. We sat at the bar, and the service was great. We were at the bar for drinks and dinner,, so we did not go into the restaurant, but it seemed to have the coastal vibe down. 4-stars from hubby, 5 from me. read more

We were seated quickly and the waitress took our order quickly but we waited 35 minutes for oysters as an appetizer! We ordered entrees but they never came. Oysters are not even cooked, how does it take so long? My boyfriend and I are both Hispanic and we noticed that we were seated in the same area as Black people on the left side of the restaurant but on the right there was LOTS of white people who were being treated properly. Came in on July 4th and had the pleasure of having Garrett as our server. He took great care of us and recommended some really good choices. Coastal Breeze is a local establishment with consistent food & frosty beverages. Service is usually quick with friendly experienced wait staff. Can be a bit noisy when crowded but never an issue. Menu is a bit intimidating with so many choices but we usually just stick with favorites. The muscles with broth appetizer is huge and plenty to share. Seafood quesadillas are large enough to share, as well. Seafood pasta is our kids meal of choice. Their "secret" protein bowl needs to be a menu option as it's one other best meals. read more

I am thrilled to write this review. The night before, I had dinner at a seafood restaurant in Flowery Branch. It was an awful experience. And I will not be returning to that restaurant on the lake. Having lunch at Coastal Breeze reminded me that there are places that know how to do things right. The ambiance of the restaurant is very lovely. The Customer service, professionalism, comfort, and kindness were what a patron should expect. The food and drinks were delicious. The food was fresh, well-seasoned, and timely. I even ordered a large to-go dinner after enjoying the food for lunch. Several of the wait staff have been there for years. I remembered them, as I have frequented the restaurants in this area for over a decade. This is another positive aspect of this establishment. Employees often leave when they encounter issues with food preparation, service, or are unhappy. And experienced staff is a difference maker. After the bad experience with that other seafood restaurant. Versis is another good meal with Coastal Breeze. I am making Coastal Breeze my go-to seafood restaurant in the area. I spend a lot eating out, and I tip very well. I work hard and am successful. I invest in businesses and people who appreciate my money and provide good value. Coastal Breeze meets this standard. It's been a while since I was here and wanted to update for 2024 on CB. Love this place! For me , the bar is the best for drinks and food and I get a booth when with someone or sit at the bar if just grabbing a beer for the night. Great grouper fingers, crab cakes, fish, seafood platters- never tried steak or burgers here always seafood . Came here the other night kinda late with a friend and sat in the bar and got great service from Christopher! Great waiter , great social skills and stayed on top of service well. Servers don't get as much credit but some interaction like Chris gave us was calming and good to see. My friend can be a bit flamboyant, ok, a lot and I've seen him be judged or heard comments that were very inappropriate or harsh before but Christopher even complimented his apparel making sure we new he wasn't judging and just here to get some good food and a nice meal. I was super impressed and tipped accordingly! It's 2024 peeps. Anything goes this year so be nice, tip your servers 20% or more , enjoy yourself before another shutdown happens ( it's election year !) I want places to go to and coastal breeze has always put out great food and hired good servers which to me , tells me mgt has their act together!! Thanks Christopher for a great meal and service ! My first visit. No real reason to return. Service was mediocre. Girls were sweet. One of them was in training. I ordered grouper. It was grilled. I probably should have ordered it fried. All of the fried dishes that came out looked awesome. My biggest turnoff was that my shoes were sticking to the floor. I did order fish and chips to go for the hubby. Have not tried it yet. This is becoming our favorite stop after spending a day on the lake. We usually get seated within 5 minutes and our servers have been great. Our toddler loves the coloring sheet with crayons too. The seafood is fresh and doesn't have that fishy smell. We prefer the grilled seafood dishes over the fried options. Starters: recommend requesting the fresh baked rolls with sweet butter. We've also tried the seafood dip that was delicious. Things we've tried far that we've liked: King Neptune's platter: good to share if you want to try a little bit of everything and aren't super hungry. We liked the crab cakes, shrimp and scallop skewers, and the blackened grouper was cooked perfectly. The rice pilaf is also a nice side. Favorite side: hush puppies with the coastal sauce. Baja fish tacos: lots of meat and grilled perfectly. Comes with a cilantro lime sauce but I prefer adding the coastal sauce on top. Grouper imperial: perfectly cooked grouper with a nice creamy sauce. Hubby preferred the rice side instead of broccoli bc who doesn't love carbs. Also, leave some room for dessert. The oysters we got this time were HUGE. I had to cut them in half to eat them so you end up getting 24 oysters instead of 12! They were amazing. This place has the best pricing for seafood around.. We ordered the crab cakes, Cajun seafood pasta, and a spicy sausage pasta. Everything was good. Our waitress recommended rice instead of pasta for the Cajun seafood and it was the right choice. The service was abysmal. It always is. Sat at bar and took 5 minutes to get our first draft beer or to even order it. Wanted an appetizer (had it planned out) and we weren't asked ever about food so never got to order it?! Lindsay was the bartender and was being nice but we may as well have been invisible. After a great boat ride out on Lake Lanier on a beautiful late February Friday morning we stopped here for lunch (recommended by our boat captain). We got a table on their open air patio which was nice. It was not too busy when we got there a bit after 11:30 but when we left at 1pm it was jammed. Three of us ordered their seafood tacos - one got the shrimp, one the grouper and the last one got the tilapia. All were deemed a success. The hush puppy side was also very good. Hot crispy, large, seemed fresh not a five for us, but that's just because the batter and spicing wasn't our favorite. The ahi tuna salad was just ok. Iceberg lettuce, cold seared tuna and a 1/4 cup of pickled ginger. Lack luster and uninspired, but not great ... really not very good. The show stopper was the Old Fashion. Food - I had grouper fingers that were very good There were 4 at our table and the other three were somewhat disappointed, one of us had cold mashed potatoes that they did rectify, bisque soup was barely palatable, salads were not fresh tasting, looked okay but tasted off. We were an iced tea table and the tea pitchers must have been prepped wrong, unsweetened instead of sweetened etc. service was sub-par (second week solo server). We were really excited to try this place after another local seafood spot we used to go to closed. I am not a picky eater but sadly this place was not good at all. We got the King Neptune's platter fried with Mac n cheese and green beans to go. We didn't check the food until we got home. The mac n cheese looked very unappetizing. Looks like they didn't use real cheese and absolutely no seasonings. We threw it away. The green beans were over cooked. The crab cake was burned and the rest was overly salty. I hadn't been in a while. Not for any particular reason or bad experience. It's a nice looking place and it looked pretty clean. I started with some stuffed mushrooms appetizer and they were very good. They used good sized caps. Had grilled tilapia, and it was a little underwhelming. The main thing was that they use a pretty thin fillet. So it's not nice and plump or flakey. It wasn't bad just felt it could have been better. It honestly didn't have a lot of flavor. I did order it just grilled and not blackened and I declined any sauce on the side which was offered and I could suggest you get some. There were four options wi believe. Not sure if the other fish is as thin. The menu has a decent amount of items and a few of the pasta dishes looked good and I'll probably do one of those next time. My server, Ashton was nice. The yeast rolls were hit and soft with soft butter on the side for easy spreading. The only issue was that when I walked in there was no hostess to seat me and I waited a bit longer than I should have had to. I was in the process of grabbing silverware and a menu to just seat myself, I didn't feel like sitting at the bar, but someone came up at the same time and it was good from then on. Also, depending on which way you're traveling on Lanier Islands Parkway, the entry/exit to the lot can be a little weird if you're not familiar as to where to turn in without missing it and passing and having to do a U-turn. read more
