    Bruschetta

This place is a hidden gem! From the moment we sat down, the service was friendly, fast, and genuine. The warm rolls with oil and balsamic dipping sauce set the tone...soft, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. We tried the Veal Parmigiana and Veal Scaloppini, and both were incredible.....tender, rich, and full of flavor. The Lasagna Soup deserves its own award; it's honestly the best we've ever had, comfort in a bowl. The Bruschetta was fresh and perfectly seasoned, and the martinis were strong, smooth, and well-crafted. We chose to sit outside, and the atmosphere was perfect....cozy, relaxing, and ideal for a date night or a casual evening with friends. Grapevine's absolutely delivered on food, service, and ambiance. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit.

Tucked away in a Kroger strip mall is this Italian gem. The ambience is warm inside, and the service was fantastic. They give you fresh, warm, complementary garlic rolls and they are awesome! I had the house salad, my wife had the Caesar both were very good. This is our first visit, my wife had the chicken Parmesan, and I had the baked ziti. The baked ziti was delicious and the portion was huge! The chicken Parm was average tasting, and we really didn't love the sauce. They have some drink specials during the week and live music on the weekend. We will definitely be back to sample other items!

I have seen their billboard when driving through downtown Cumming and since we will soon be living in Cumming, of course we needed to try GrapeVines out!! Reading reviews we weren't too sure about going to dinner with new friends, but decided to go. It is located in a nice strip mall with ample parking. It's not a very large restaurant but we like small and intimate. It also has a bar side with high table seating. It is very nice inside with booths and tables/chairs. We were seated immediately because this particular Friday night was not busy. Apparently it was an odd evening of not being busy but we were okay with that. There was live music which was a one-man band. However he was very good and nice background music. We were told by our server Zack they have it on Friday and Saturday evenings. We were immediately greeted by wonderful server Zack. He was so friendly, engaging, attentive and some southern hospitality. We took a long time to decide on our food because we were with new friends, but he was so great checking back with us. He told us "I just don't want you to think I'm neglecting you". We assured him it was okay as we were here with our new friends and enjoying conversation. Of course before I commit to a glass of wine, I want a taste which he accommodated my husband and I. We finally decided, per Zack's recommendation, on the salmon along with a small salad and the Tuscana cup of soup, of course sharing everything. It was delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly not tough and overcooked. It was bedded on Risotto which was creamy and yummy. I loved the Kalamata olives that garnished the salmon. Delicious and healthy menu choice for sure. And the garlic butter rolls they serve were outstanding, warm and delicious sprinkled with some seasoning also comes with a bowl of dipping oil with seasoning. Our soup was pipping hot with a tomato cream, chicken and a few small cut vegetables. Not too many of either but that is okay otherwise we'd be too full for our main dish. A cup was the perfect portion. Our salad with some veggies was also the perfect portion. But what made our evening complete was Zack as we thoroughly enjoyed his attention and engaging conversation. With us not living far away soon, Grapevines most likely will be our Italian "go-to". Oh and on Mondays, they have $5 Martini nights. Didn't ask if they have happy hour, but I will the next time in. We enjoyed a piece of scrumptious cheesecake drizzled with chocolate sauce of some sort which again was very tasty. Not too big of a slice, but again perfect portion. Our friends said they enjoyed their dinner as well. Our friend is gluten intolerant and they serve gluten free noodles which he said was very good. He also ordered chicken but he said it was a bit spicy along with a sweet potato. Well done GrapeVines. We will be back!! I hope all your food is as yummy as our first dinner with y'all.

One of the best restaurants in Cumming GA. Clean, nice atmosphere, good food, good service, plenty of parking, and good patronage. Portions are appropriate and all ingredients fresh. Highly recommend the chicken Pomplona.

    Chef Special: Pork Chop

We ordered the Chef Special with Toscana soup and the Lobster Ravioli. The Chef Special was Pork Chop with Fettuccine in a Mushroom Sauce. The pork chop was a little salty but cooked well. The mushroom sauce was a little bland. I wanted to add some more cheese but our server never came back around until it was time for the check. The lobster ravioli was okay. The sauce was really good. Our drinks weren't refilled until the meal was done.

They know their menus and are always on top of everything. Kept us informed of our food arrival and etc.., made fabulous wine recommendations even offering a small taste before we decided. The food was not impressive. While the portions were great for tapas style dining, the taste was just not there. The UWT salad was just ok, the Buffalo Chicken Flatbread was almost uneditable, the Korean Shortribs were not any better. The flatbread was swimming in buffalo sauce and blue cheese. The Korean Short Ribs were literally pot roast with sesame seeds and green onions served a top a serving of dry potatoes. We enjoyed the ambience and the wine but would not go back due to the food. Admittedly we are foodies and this establishment did not meet our expectations. Really not trying to be a negative Nancy but this was not to our liking.

It has been my experience that few bottles that go under $40 are worth my time. I was wrong. Amy, owner of TOTT, shared with me 4 wines that ran $15-$20 that I actually truly enjoyed. Her selections are impressive, small batch bottles, 5,000 in existence or less from around the world. She also has a strong meat and cheese selection and an adorable dog to boot. I will be back!

I didn't know what it was, until some friends of mine booked a wine tasting for us. What? I love wine tastings, and thought I had to drive to Dahlonegha for that. No idea there was a place so close by to do wine like this. We walked in and were walked back to a quaint room with a long table and chairs around it. A reservation had been made for the wine tasting, so the four of us were seated with some other people that had made the reservation as well. Amy, the owner, came in and introduced herself. She was so knowledgable about wines, and really was informative. I have to say I've been to several wine tastings before, but I learned a lot here from Amy. She told us about herself, and what her store is all about. She stated she has about 300 wines in her shop, and she has tasted every single one. She stated that she got a lot of her wines from small producers, and that most of her wines were under $20. She said she liked to have a unique variety of wines that would be good to grab for a dinner at home, or for a gift. She also had several imported and domestic cheeses. We had the opportunity to try a few different cheeses, and by far my favorite was the brie/gouda mix Belletoile. It was so good and creamy. The crackers that were served with the cheeses were so good as well. We had a peppercorn and a plain cracker. Both were really good, and I loved the small sizes of the crackers to go with the cheese. They were made from a small company in Chamblee called Georgia Sourdough. You can buy their crackers at this store, so you don't have to drive to Chamblee. So the wine tastings are Monday-Saturday. Drop-in tastings are Monday through Wednesday for $10, which includes four wines and one cheese with cracker. Thursday through Saturday, Amy does a six wine tasting paired with 3 different cheeses and crackers for $18 per person. The latter requires a reservation. Each tasting has a theme, so for instance, the one we did was USA Wines. And I tried my first Riesling I actually didn't mind. It wasn't sweet. She mentioned that before I tried it, and she was right. You also get to keep the BPA plastic stemless glass you use to do the tastings. She chose these BPA glasses, because there is no odor like with most plastics and doesn't have that plastic taste, either. The glasses are very sensitive to heat, though, so don't put them in your dishwasher or they will melt. She serves the wines from lightest to heaviest, and she told us if you rinse the glass each time with water between tastings you will change the way the next wine should taste. She said going from lightest to heaviest will nix the need to actually rinse the glass. If you like any of the wines or cheeses you try the day of the tasting, you can get any of them for 10% off. And she won't tell you the prices of the wines until after the tasting, which was a good idea. She didn't want us having preconceived ideas on the taste based on knowledge of the price. Unfortunately, I picked the most expensive wine as my favorite. I wouldn't pay $27 for a wine for any regular evening, but it's a good choice for the weekend or entertaining. I'd love to come back here, sooner than later. I am so excited my friends discovered this place, and will definitely be back. If you live in the area, check it out.

While exploring the main strip, I came across Dot's Fine Wine and Craft. I was hoping they offered wine flights (they do, but only on Thursdays), so instead, I opted for a tasting. They have four wines on tap that rotate regularly--usually two whites and two reds, if I recall correctly. The ones available that day weren't quite my personal taste, but the experience was still great thanks to the welcoming staff. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The shop itself has a laid-back, cozy vibe with plenty of space to sip and explore. Their selection of wines and specialty beers is impressive--and for those just browsing, there's no pressure, just good conversation and even better recommendations. Now, let me give credit where it's due--Todd, the owner, is a force of nature. My fiancée is very particular about her wine, but once Todd started talking, she was sold. He makes the rounds, connecting with every guest, and his deep knowledge and passion for wine is infectious. Between him, his wife, and lone employee who was shaking and moving the entire time we were there, they've created an experience that's polished, personal, and memorable. If I had to make one suggestion, it would be to add another wine slushie machine. Every time I went for one, it was still chilling--though in their defense, the place was buzzing with activity due to a downtown festival. Dot's isn't just a wine store--it's a destination. They also offer: Thirsty Thursday Wine Flights (4 for $15, waived with a $45 purchase) Monthly Wine Club Private Tastings & Cellar Consulting Wedding & Event Bar Services Wine and Beer Growlers Rotating Frozen Sangrias, Frosé & Wine-Based Cocktails Charcuterie, Wine Gifts & Accessories I've visited plenty of wine shops across the state, but Dot's truly stands out. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or just curious, it's absolutely worth the trip. You'll likely leave with more than just a bottle--you'll leave with a great experience.

It's not super easy to find! Dahlonega has lots of interesting twists and turns and back alley shops and some shops blended in so well with other places, that a random door opens up to more unique experiences. So, that's how we found this place. We were waiting to get our names in for Bourbon Street Grille, and this random door behind us boasted wine tasting. I thought it was just a one room deal behind us. When you see the door and the shop, you'll fully understand. If you like wine, this is worth it and a MUCH better deal than the Wine Festival (which is what we came for). It's not a big place and technically only has about 8 seats at the bar for tasting. Thankfully, it seemed all the festival goers didn't know about this place (bc it's totally a Harry Potter hidden type of deal) so we got 4 seats. The kids roamed around the shop while we tried wine. The flights are $12/$16 based off the wines you want. They have white, red, blended and rose. Oh, check in on Yelp and receive one free taste of any wine (I used mine)!!! I did the Rose, Merlot, Vidal Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and the Petit Manseng. Loved the Merlot (had a spicy after taste) the most! Then the Pinot Grigio. The Petit Manseng is their strongest wine but was my least favorite. However, I tasted the Trillium from someone else's in our group and LOVED IT. We ended up buying a bottle of Mtn Harvest Red plus the Apfelwein (the lady described it so well and made us want to get a bottle). I can honestly say I had such a buzz from the flight that I stopped drinking when we went to go eat. The wine was really good and certainly hit, so be careful! Totally worth checking this place out, if you can find it!!!
