The winding drive up to the vineyard is breathtaking, and the views only get better from there. Treat yourself to a wine tasting, then enjoy an authentic Italian meal at Trattoria di Montaluce. Reservations are highly recommended, especially on weekends. I only stopped by this time, but next visit? I'm staying for golden hour, watching the sunset over the vineyards, and ending the evening with a beautiful dinner.

We took our seats in the intimate bar area, selected our four samples of choice (we all stuck with wines but each of us sampled a different selection. Meads are also available for tastings). All told, it was a not too much but not too little amount of wine we enjoyed for $8 per person. This was a relaxing and enjoyable way to try some new-to- us wines and the shop gave us a comfortable space where we could unwind with our wines! There are also fun items for sale that would make great gifts for others or just to keep and enjoy! This was an ideal way to experience and enjoy locally sourced wines and the person conducting the tasting was so personable and pleasant, it felt more like dropping in for drinks with a friend rather than a retail transaction. This was about…read more10-15 minutes from campus (downtown Dahlonega) I attended a wedding of my friends Katherine and Chris at the winery - honestly I didn't taste any of the wine (yes I know, bad) but enjoyed myself. The venue is pretty spectacular with great views of the surrounding hills and valleys along with the vineyards as the hang of the side of the mountain. There were two aspects that pushed my opinion down a bit, neither are really the fault of the venue or business so I've stayed with the 5-stars. The wedding was held in an outdoor pavilion with great views, but during the first week of August quite hot. There are ceiling fans but they didn't help too much - I was sweltering in my jacket and tie by the time the ceremony ended (just be aware if you book something here during the hot season). The second, there are a lot of stairs as you are on the side of a mountain. If you have a hard time traversing a lot of stairs, there are other means of getting around so once again be aware. The main "hall" has windows with fantastic views. I thought the food was exceptional and wish I had taken more photos, but there were a lot of poor lighting (I was seated next to the dance area). My apologies for the missing check in and the lack of photos but I didn't want to be obnoxious at a wedding. Overall I love the rustic charm of this place and plan to return and more fully explore the wine offerings. Sadly, I arrived 30 minutes before closing so I had enough time for a glass of wine but not a time for tasting. The building and property is expensive with beautiful views of grapevine's leading up to the main building. There are several outdoor areas from which to choose to sit. The top one is covered with ceiling fans. With the threat of storms this afternoon, I chose to sit there. The view here is absolutely stunning- I can see several other mountains and the storms in the distance. The friendly host us at the register reviewed some wines with me so I chose the Plenitude. It's a blend of steel aged Chardonnay with voignier. It's crisp and perfect for a hot summer day. If you are in the area for an event or a weekend or an overnight, I highly recommend visiting both Mountain Vineyards and Winery.

We also bought a wine bottle candle which was a little different ; the bottle was cut sideways. The grounds for RVs was set up nicely with an oval circle for easy in and out. We were the only ones there! Wow! Our dogs were able to run around and enjoy off leash. That's always a plus! The only thing was that the grass was not cut , but we made it work.
