Good burger, nice enough front end, slow service I've been meaning to give this place a try. Mainly because it's close by and I've been intrigued by it. Always would swing by around the time it would be closed, so today I made a special trek to give this place a try. The place was quiet, a few people dining in. Took about a good 5 minutes to be seated, a single waitress manning the entire front of house. I didn't look at the menu beforehand, so I didn't know what to expect. As it turns out, it's a burger joint. Well, more accurately a bar with bar bites that just so happen to be burgers and wraps. I opted to go for their burger flight, but was informed they were out of chicken. so I swapped out the chicken for another burger patty. Also got some sweet potato waffle fries, because why not? Food took about 20 minutes to get, which is a long time to wait for appetizers. but the food came out eventually and I got my pictures and dug in. The negatives first - The waffle fries were cold on delivery. They were made in advance and lost all their heat by the time the burgers finished up. Flavor-wise, not bad. the honey mustard dipping sauce was appreciated. Need a little bit more spicy zip though, was a tad too sweet. I wasn't a fan of the cheese choice, was a little too waxy for my taste, could've not been warmed up enough, hard to tell. also the bottoms of the buns were lightly toasted but the tops were not and they were also cold to the touch. However, the rest of the meal was actually very good. The burgers were seasoned and hand ground beef. they had a lot of maple bacon pieces on them and the pretzel bun was soft and spongy with a little crisp on the inside. the pulled pork slider was pretty good as well. the combo of tender, sauce drenched pork with cool, creamy, and sweet slaw lead to a very solid bite. And that to me is the crux of the matter. They do good food but they cut corners. some corners are fine to cut, and they know how to prioritize what matters most in a dish. The slow service was a bummer, and if they executed just a little better then this would be a nice place to go to watch a game and get some bites. There were other gripes as well. Their happy hour menu doesn't match their main menu, and you can order those items even if it isn't happy hour at a more expensive price. Nowhere is that mentioned, and some of those items would be awesome to have normally. I mean, fresh cut and fried chips with buffalo chicken dip? Yes please! They do fresh chips, they can easily put together a nacho platter. They offer chicken tacos, but they could offer beef tacos. The burger flight should have fries, with the option to upgrade them to other sides or flavors. Fries are cheap, and I don't know many people that would turn down a well done disco fry if given the option. Granted, there's not many real "casual bar" areas in that stretch of town. But there is a brewery across the way, and I suspect that they are actually owned by the same cooks. so it's effectively competing against yourself, and that's not a great idea. For those looking for solid bar bites, this place will do well enough. They can be a tad slow, but the food is pretty good. (Last visited June 26, 2023). So, fun fact. We heard of this place opening in place of another restaurant. We paid this place a visit on November 26, 2022 and absolutely LOVED IT. So we came back. Here's why! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right in downtown Manchester, CT is this gem. It's near the "beginning" if you're coming from the highway. There's no private parking, but there's plenty of free parking on the street and huge parking lots around the back. That's one reason I love Manchester. If we're coming out here to spend money, don't charge us to park our car so that we CAN go spend money! Lol. Inside is like a bit of a tavern and nothing out of the ordinary. It's a little on the small side so just make sure you get here! Service: Alexis behind the bar took care of us both times and she was awesome. She no longer works there and has moved on to owning her own business so we wish her the best! Food: Wings, wings, wings. Every flavor. You need to have them all. Jerk, Parmesan Garlic, Buffalo Rub, Candied Bacon Rub and Everything But The... I'm so serious when I say this. These are probably the best wings in Manchester. Aside from the flavors themselves, the CHICKEN ITSELF has a smokey flavor that also delivers a crispy skin and juicy inside. My goodness they were so incredible, but my favorite was Everything But The... it's basically Everything Bagel seasoning, but you can't go wrong with any of the flavors. Value: Get here for happy hour! 3:00pm to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. I actually hate those happy hour hours, 'cause like... don't most people get off at like 5:00pm?! Lol. Regardless, 8 BIG JUICY wings will run you $12.00 and that's actually a VERY good deal for what you get. In conclusion, I loved it here and will come back over and over. Not only is this place awesome, but there is a mission statement created by MACC Charities when they launched their social enterprise, Bistro on Main, their predecessor. They set out to support, train, and provide opportunities for individuals with barriers to stable employment. By offering a jobs training program that would help them develop employable skills. What does this mean to them? While they are not the same organization, they have set out to continue the mission of doing good within the community while also offering an enjoyable dining experience. The goal is to continue to collaborate with those organizations who provide support for individuals in our community with the most need, such as MACC Community Kitchen or similar educational programs. Stopped in here one afternoon right after they opened. We were seated promptly and ordered some lemonade and waters. The lemonade was really good, not usually something I order but it was enjoyable. Not too sweet or sour, it was light, refreshing and perfect and tasted homemade. For lunch I ordered the Auntie Sarah, which was a portobello mushroom sandwich and wow, it was very good. So enjoyable I ate the entire thing, 99% of the time I leave half. My dining partner had a delicious looking burger that was cooked properly and a salad, which he also said was great. It got busy fast and the bartender was waiting tables and taking care of the bar herself. She was right on top of everything, we didn't wait for anything and she checked on us often. This is a quiet, awesome gem in Manchester! Set on Main St it's got a pleasant, comfortable, and chill vibe to it, clean and welcoming! What I believe started more as a sandwich/burger bar which was great, it's gotten even better. I've tried several apps as well as the burgers/sandwiches, salads - all are great! The wings are really good and the flavor varieties are awesome and I think something for everyone (who likes wings)!! I've had a couple burgers at different times which rocked, the loaded brisket wedges were really good as well! The place itself is homey and charming and doesn't have a ton of loud noise and distractions (as in not tons of TV sets everywhere), just a great spot with awesome food and and a place to relax!! Prices are typically better than many other restaurants around with similar foodies, which is also nice! I've seen a comment or two about service/speed and the staff have been typically very friendly and great, there are times when things come a bit slower but here's the thing - if you want in/out in 30 minutes and feel like a number, there's plenty of restaurants you can go to for that. Having worked in the business in the past there's a lot of factors that come into play with timing of food and staffing, if you can't be patient with people who are making a delicious meal for you, maybe going out to eat isn't best for you. If you're in a hurry ANYwhere here's a helpful hint - ask before you sit if they think your time there may be longer than the time you have allotted yourself to have a meal. If so, go elsewhere. The main course is one of my favorite restaurants in town!! My wife and I love the food here we even get takeout from them as well. Their burgers are mouthwatering, and cooked to perfection!! Their max and cheese is also phenomenal and the portion sizes are large so you can have leftovers the next day!! The brussel sprouts appetizer is also delicious and one of my favorites! They have my favorite burgers in town. It's awesome to see an amazing restaurant on Main Street. Saturday night and we needed to feed our out of town guest. The guest was feeling for salad but saw the salmon burger and was very interested. We went and were seated immediately. The place was very quiet for Saturday night. We ordered tower of onion rings, a cheeseburger, the salmon burger and Ceasars salad with crispy chicken. The salmon burger was cooked perfectly. The cheeseburger was cooked perfectly but it had onions and tomatoes but ordered NO onions and tomatoes. The salad was drenched in dressing and the crispy chicken was over cooked chopped up chicken nuggets. The onion rings were good and 6 rings are nice amount but not quite a tower. I had been really craving wings and read great reviews of there everything but the...wings. However, I was told they were out of wings. On a Friday? Okay. I said I needed a few minutes and ordered a glass of wine, which was a good price for what you get. Decided to try the slider trio. However, the waitress bypassed taking our order and took the other tables order. When she did return to take our order, we were told they were also out of burgers, the other table ordered the last 2. Only 2 burgers and no wings for Friday happy hour? After that, we decided to go elsewhere and requested the check. The waitress was very apologetic and brought us the check. She then disappeared in the back and seemed to forget about us. She finally returned and we paid and left. Overall, super disappointing experience. For drinks, we had the Affogato (Cocoa Infused Vodka, Kahlua, Disaronno and Salted Caramel Gelato Float) and WICKHAM MARGARITA (Espolon, Fruitful Dragonfruit with margarita mix). $11 each- Both were delicious. As an appetizer, I ordered the street corn dip ($9- Creamy spicy roasted corn dip, baked with roasted pepper, served with house chips). I am a huge fan of anything elote-inspired. For entrees, we both had the Hugo's Fiery burger ($17), which is served with house chips but we sprang for the seasoned wedges (+$2) and the sweet potato waffle fries (+$3). The waffle fries came with a sweet sauce that was so creamy and rich. I would have loved to try some dessert but we were STUFFED. I grabbed the Argentinian steak ($22- Grilled top sirloin, red & green chimichurri sauce, vegetable medley, roasted fingerling potatoes) to go for my husband. All meat temperatures were spot on. After reading all these reviews I wonder if I was in the right restaurant ! We stopped in for an early dinner at about 4:45 on a Wednesday and there were only two people in the bar and no one the dining area. We seated ourselves and the server came over and asked for our drink order. I ordered a margarita and she said they didn't have all the ingredients for it so I ordered a citrus drink and my partner ordered a glass of wine and asked server how much it was as prices for wine were not listed on menu. Once again the server had to go check with the bar. We ordered the roasted corn dip and chips for an appetizer and we each ordered the cheeseburger salads. While we started to enjoy the appetizer the entrees came right out which was so disappointing and we told her that. I guess she didn't know to wait on putting entree order in. The salads were quite large with the cheeseburgers in the center. There was a small cold piece of bread served on the side (totally not necessary). We both ordered medium rare and mine was totally raw in the middle and cold. I sent it back and got the very same burger back with no change, I didn't eat it. For the prices they are charging the food should be edible! I don't like to write an unpleasant review but I was totally disappointed in my visit here and I don't think I will be back. We usually LOVE coming to the Main Course, and probably come at least biweekly. Tonight, however, was a disaster. A wrong sandwich was originally rung in for my husband, which the waitress didn't catch until it had already been made. She then allegedly rung in the correct order for my husband but what ended up coming out of the kitchen was another sandwich that he did not order (and, in fact, wasn't a sandwich that's even on the menu?). We informed the waitress of the error and she again allegedly asked the kitchen to make the correct sandwich, and then it took the kitchen an additional 30+ minutes to finally make and bring out the new sandwich and...drum roll please...THE SANDWICH BROUGHT OUT WAS STILL NOT THE SANDWICH MY HUSBAND HAD ORDERED. At that point, we left. I understand that mistakes happen (and our bill was comped for the errors) but this was a deeply disappointing and honestly ridiculous experience. If the waitress didn't remember my husband's order, that's totally fine, but the solution to that was to ask him to remind her what he ordered, not bring out 3 different sandwiches, none of which were what he'd ordered. She also concocted a delicious mocktail for me. Four stars, Carly! First, the apps...the french onion soup didn't have much broth and was unusual from what you'd expect. We also ordered wings, which were actually raw in the middle. Not very "appetizing". The kitchen sent out 2 more wings to replace them. For meals...two people in our party ordered the smoked brisket mac & cheese -- which was tasty -- but they arrived lukewarm in a cast iron skillet. Two others ordered chicken & waffles. As you can see by the photo, it looked nice and there was a generous amount of chicken, but it was overcooked on one of the orders and she had trouble cutting it with her steak knife. The other order came on a waffle that was barely cooked and arrived several minutes after all the other meals were served. (We assume they were having issues with the waffle iron.) Wanted to like the place but it's like they were doing everything to make us not like it. Right from the start we got there and we heard the waitress say she was hoping that it nobody comes in tonight... we should have turned around and left but we decided to stay. Anyways, the service was terrible from start to finish, I had one drink and never was asked for a refill so I drank my wife's backwashed bottom drink. I ordered the fried chicken and waffle and it was awful, the chicken was wayyyyyy overcooked, the waffle was ok (we make better at home). My wife ordered some chicken and vegetable bowl that was huge, actually way too much for one person. There must have been a abundance of red onions in the place because there was a ton in that bowl. Her meal wasn't terrible but wasn't great either. I'm being very generous on giving this place 2 stars because Christmas is only a week away. We ordered French onion soup, sweet potato waffle fries, asalmon burger and turkey sandwich. Upgrades are a bit pricey if you opt for them. Soup had a very good taste, flavorful without being too salty. Chips were crispy but slightly bland, which is good for those that may prefer it without salt, which we do. Sweet potatoes fries could have been a bit crisper but tasted good and came with dipping sauce. Sandwich sizes and flavors were good. Nothing was overly greasy. Have a good variety of options in the menu. We will likely return to try some of them out. read more

my second time here and unfortunately I was really disappointed I order the soup of the day and there's no soup so why you have it on the menu if you don't have soup!? I order the French onion soup as a first course then for entree I order the argentina stake which both of my dishes were bring it to the table at the same time and I weighed almost 18 minutes for onion soup by the time I finish my soup which it was not onion on it. My steak was cold already , server give me attitude because I told her I want the soup first then she said if you want it fine if you don't don't, this is the last time I come to this place and I will not recommended . I have very mixed reactions to this place. The setup is definitely weird and tight. If it were a busy night it would've been uncomfortable. Our server was great. Friendly, laughed at my dumb jokes and was reliable and quick. There was another server at the other table complaining about the restaurant the entire time which was off putting. We ordered street corn dip which was really good. It came with fresh chips that were crispy and salty and paired well with the dip. He got the pot roast sandwich which was great. The meat had great flavor and the veggies gave it a nice kick! The bread was perfect for it too, soft on inside but a nice chew to the outside. I got the mile burger which also was good. Brioche roll from Hartford baking company is a must for a good burger for me so they had a great start! Meat was flavorful and cheese was beautifully melted all over that burger. There was a lot of warm wilty lettuce which took away from it for me but I pulled most off and focused on the great caramelized onions! He got wedges and I got sweet potato waffle fries and both were cooler than room temp and you could tell they were old and had been sitting. Our server did take waffle fries off the bill. They had some highlights but not enough to pull me back in. Especially if I got any other server working that night. There is a half wall btwn dining area and bar and staff should be more aware of the volume of their conversations particularly when they are discussing patrons. read more

Stopped in for the first time living around the corner for the last 5 years. We all work in the industry and are usually extremely understanding of a lot of situations. When walking in the place smelled very off and chemically least of the problems for the night. When looking at the menus the first one was a fall cocktail menu... it's March. I asked if there was a draft or cocktail list and she said we can make anything really. I asked what flavor mules they could make... cranberry only. Guess they can't make anything... draft barcode after scanned says does not exist anymore. My finance asked for a bud light of draft at that point even though he doesn't drink it but that's all he could see from our seat. Server claims draft bud light is all out but they had two-conn which was similar. He says no problem orders that maybe 10/15 minutes passes by and she shows up with a pint of 2 inch foam and says sorry we had to change the draft. Beer was very hot and had food or something floating in it... when she comes he lets her know and says can I just have a bottle of bud light. We order food next kids Mac and fruit, med rare burger with Cajun house chips, wrap with side salad, and a chicken salad as well. Kids Mac and chicken salad come out first no side for the kids meal. Salad was fine. Next about 5/8 minutes later comes out the well done burger and plain chips and the wrap. Wrap was fine burger was extremely over cooked and chips were plain but we still were kind and didn't complain because we get it. We ordered another round of drinks and water because everything was empty and tell her we didn't get the kids side and just needed some napkins because we had 0. She goes to what we assume is get the kids meal side and drinks... she comes back another 10 minutes later to say there's no kids fruit... okay fine drinks maybe ? Napkins? Meal check? Nope. We tell her fries are fine and she asks again if we want drinks? We ordered them 10 minutes ago but apparently not. Brings back fries and drinks but this time comes back with a draft beer ? Decided to try this place with a friend, we often meet up in Manchester and are tired of the usual places, so based on good reviews, we decided to check it out. The Main Course did not disappoint! Cute but some what cramped quarters on Main St, has a certain urban charm but definitely showing some wear and tear. Very interesting menu; was a bit disappointed by not having a good (or any) rosé on the menu but was mollified by a fresh Sam Adams summer ale draft. My companion had a sauvignon blanc. We started with the Brussels sprouts appetizer, in a maple vinagrette sauce with some fried onions and a spicy sauce, amazing, probably the best Brussels sprouts app I have ever had. She ordered a grilled chicken with rice and some type of fresh salsa, which she loved; I had the Argentinian steak, which was perfectly cooked and had not one, but two different chimmichurri sauces, a green and red version, both delicious, with roasted potatoes and grilled vegetables. We finished with some unremarkable but more than decent coffee and tea. I do have to mention the service; our server was Carina, and she was spectacular, was managing the whole place herself and did it in an unflappable manner, very knowledgeable about the menu and just fun.
