my salad bowl. (lettuce, pork, cilantro, quacamole, pico de gallo, med hot sauce, grilled squash, olives, & picked onions)

Yes, yes, yes! Surprisingly good!! It used to be a Burger-Fi that closed down, but they kept the furnature and lighting fixtures. The ambiance was good, It was bright and clean the music was appropriate and not blaring. I had expected it to be like another Chipoltle (which I don't love, but we won't get into that here) but I was pleasantly suprised. This place had excellent service, the meats were cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the veggies tasted like they were fresh off the grill! Portion sizes were generous and the food was served in a to-go container that were (pro: leakproof with great seal as not to leak juice from leftovers and very sturdy / con: VERY hard to open.) The concept is "similar" to Baja Fresh which is also good, but I thought this place was a step above that. I was impressed. I would definately re-visit this establishment & recommend it to others.

Service was quick, food was ready, and the ambiance felt like an authentic Mexican meal. Reminds me of the flour tortillas my family makes from Honduras. It was cheap considering the fresh food you can eat. I spent $13 for this burrito. Thanks Bajas.

One of the best bang for your buck in the area. Food always tastes fresh and it's always ready right on time. Ordering online is super easy and convenient. Every meal turns into two with the size of the portions! Honestly haven't been disappointed once getting our food to go from here. This is what chipotle should be !!

Today I stopped at Baja's for lunch... it's the kind of food that warmed my heart!! So much so that I couldn't wait too long to write this review. In general I love Mexican food, and if you are too .. then you really must check them out ASAP. So many menu choices soups & salads, tacos, wet burritos, enchiladas, and quesadillas they even have subs and wraps. But when I saw the taco shell salad.. I had to have it... you can add your choice of protein but I had a vegetarian bowl, rice, bean guac, jalapeño oh and those pickled onions (yum) topped with hot sauce. I ate it to my hearts content. I was tempted to have churros (6) with ice cream but I'll save that for next time. They also had horchata, tamarindo and passion fruit for drinks. The interior is so elegant and aesthetic.. It's probably my favorite restaurant at the moment and I can't wait to go back!

A surprisingly great soft open! Well stuffed tacos at a good price I've been keeping tabs on all the newly minted and coming out businesses around my area as of late. Each one's got its pros and cons, and lately it's been a lot of growing pains. I am proud to report that Baja's has gotten it right, and they are doing it well. It's located where a burger fi use to be, next to a BJs and the biggest building around. It's very spacious inside, with a large ordering kiosk. They clearly kept a lot of the same decor and designs from the previous tenant, but made it their own space. Their menu is on big screens behind the counter. it's a little confusing, the layout isn't the greatest and it can be confusing. it also didn't help that there were lots of items that were not standard for your mexican restaurant. Things like chicken wings and philly cheese steak bombs seemed somewhat out of place on this menu. We opted for their tacos trying their chiplote chicken and regular chicken, along with their steak just to see how it fared. Also got some chips with guac, and a side of their ground beef. Server assembled everything to our specification with no issue, grabbing from trays and warming up soft corn tortillas. We got everything in to-go containers, but sat down to dig in a little. The tacos were surprisingly good! the meat on all of them was a little stringy but was moist. The chipolte chicken taco was canned chipoltes in adobo sauce. good, but very distinct. the toppings were very fresh, and the staff loaded each one to the gills. For the price you paid, you feel like you got what you paid for and even more. Their green "hot" sauce was lacking a zip and their "Very hot" had a very strong dose of tabasco. Those were not to my taste, but they can be improved What surprised me was their "Ground beef", which was chuck beef but not finely ground into a paste. This was actually tiny steak chunks simmering away in their juices with onions and peppers mixed in for good measure. That, too, was also fairly tender and tasty. The chips and guac are definitely a combo item though. The chips had the salt which the guac needed. When you ate both together, it was very good guac. When you tried them on their own, the chips were too salty and the guac was bland. I'm not the biggest fan of having a staple be required to make something else better. Overall, it's pretty good! Solid flavors, staff were able to execute without issues, and a familiar but not bad design. This first pass by was fairly successful and I look forward to seeing how they improve!

Last night my friend and I went to Baja's in Manchester. We were both in the mood for Mexican food, so this was the place. The colors are sure to catch your eye, there's colorful words on the windows outside. The inside is very cute with some colorful, Mexican decor. This is a fast food type of place. You order at the counter, tell them exactly what to put in your meal, it will be ready very quickly. You can then dine inside, or you can take it to go. I got three soft tacos. I'm not really fond of meat, when they asked me what kind of meat I would like, I'm not sure why I said pulled pork. I should have skipped it for sure. This pulled pork completely ruined these tacos. It was far too salty. Additionally, I got guacamole, tomatoes, corn and shredded cheese in my tacos. Everything appeared pretty good. It was difficult to deal with the salty pulled pork once it was already there. My friend got a quesadilla with shrimp, beans, zucchini and cheese. This was a very filled quesadilla. It was very good, not at all salty like mine was. Both of our portions were pretty big. Baja's is a nice place to get some Mexican food in a pinch. Just choose your ingredients wisely.

This visit was our second to a Bajas. We've been impressed with the quality and value of the food. Lots of choices - no matter your tastes or dietary needs. My wife and I both had veggie salads - in addition to the lettuce base, we got a lot of sautéed vegetables - and of course, lots of other choices, including rice, beans, corn, pico, cheese, salsa olives, peppers and more. For a reasonable up-charge, you could get add-ones like guacamole, avocado and plantains. (We got the avocado and plantains.) They also make rice bowls, tacos, burritos, and more. Here's the surprising thing: they have a variety of non-Latin foods - from Chicken wings to steak and cheese grinders! Service was speedy. The place - which used to be a Burger-Fi - is big and clean.

Definitely would come back here again! They have a large selection of items to choose from. Their meats were delicious and they have a variety of toppings to choose from similar to chipotle. The service is good. Inside the restaurant you seat yourself and order up front. It is very clean and the decor was fitting. A quick delicious new spot to try in the buckland area!

Chicken quesadilla with all toppings on the side. No charge for sour or guacamole.

Best Ice Cream Shop in the area, still needs work…read more This place has popped up on my radar as a roll place to give a try. So after a dinner we came to this place to give them a try. The place is pretty sparse on decoration, opting for paint splatters around the entire location. Which is fine, it's an ice cream shop so it needs to be fun. There was a staff of about 3-4 people manning the front, so plenty of people to help us along. Menu was on the wall facing away from the front desk area, which is weird. But I took a look, ordered a cookie monster, and waited for the rolls. Another little bit of weirdness. the anti-griddles were by the register, but hidden behind the toppings. You really couldn't watch the person go to town to make your roll. Part of the fun is being able to watch your ordering person go through and make the ice cream right in front of you. A missed opportunity with all the toppings and stuff blocking the view. Lastly, and this is the weirdest decision out of all of them, they used a generic soft serve base for the roll. If it wasn't soft serve base, they used some pre-sugared heavy whipping cream. It probably made the workers job easier to make the rolls, but it kind of lead to this overly sugary ice cream with a clumpy, waxy mouthfeel. As a man who likes his sweets, it was almost too much sugar to deal with. The price is okay, about average for this style of ice cream. The lack of "show", the sugary thick base, and the small cups that don't get filled all the way with rolled ice cream makes this feel not as great of a purchase. These problems are all solvable fairly easily. Add a menu to behind the register, get more areas to stash the candies and mix-ins. Open the windows to the griddle and invite patrons to watch their ice cream come to life, and switch out the soft serve base for either some straight up whole milk or a milk and cream mix. This may up the complexity of making said rolled ice cream, but it'll be better received and will be a fresher product than shelf-stable mixes. If you haven't tried a roll before, or you really want ice cream, this place is worth a try. There are better ice cream places if you travel, and I have had pretty good rolls at other locations. It works for where it is

Walk inside this hole in the wall, take in the colorful design and fun atmosphere, and toil over which flavors you want to indulge in. I got the Monkey'n Around (banana and Nutella with walnuts) and in about 5 minutes, I got my ice cream roll fix. Everything costs about $9, and each cup has 4 rolls on it. I will say that in comparison to other places I've been, the serving size here is smaller, but the price is higher. I'll be back because my kids enjoyed the experience, though I may skip to save me a tenner.

A stop on the way back to UCONN when I was a student there. The "go to" place after our kids' school events. Shortly after we moved to Manchester, over 38 years ago, the restaurant was closed for renovations. We were looking forward to seeing the revamped restaurant. Well, we were even more surprised when we stepped in the door - nothing had changed! Cleaner, perhaps new Naugahyde on the seats, but that mural on the wall was the same - those elves were timeless. When you sit down, you get a small paper cup of water. The menus are on the the wall - soups, sandwiches & ice cream. I'd always heard they had a patent on the way their cheeseburgers were made - a burger topped with crispy cheese. A must have. Prior to Covid, the condiments tray had ketchup, mustard & chopped onions. Now, there are packets of the condiments. No onions though. We shared an order of fries - crispy & good. I was too full to have ice cream after our meal, so we brought a half gallon (yes - a real half gallon) of our favorite flavor home - chocolate almond joy. Yum! Note - you need cash. No cards. As for lunch, the cole slaw is surprisingly superior to most if not all other diners/cafes. Though prices have increased with inflation, still a great value and more competitive than many other comparable places in the state. Furthermore, the consistent taste and nostalgic ambiance are all still intact. Main offerings are between-bread - i.e., sandwiches, so limited options if you have dietary restrictions like having to eat gluten-free (soups contain gluten; I didn't ask if any of the platters could be made GF though), but their iconic fried cheese is still available as an a la carte side. Ice cream flavors include seasonal highlights like pumpkin chocolate chip, and their shakes are generous and delicious. I recommend asking what additional flavors they have available that are not listed on the wall menu. If there are kids in your party, be sure to look out for the table placard with the Children's Menu; the kids in our group enjoyed the chicken platter which included fries, a drink, and 2 substantial breaded chicken fillets.

Their website, counters, shelves, and showcases offer you temptations everywhere you look. Want a pastry? What kind of a question is that....sure you do, so how on Earth are you going to choose between these? Cannoli, Tiramisu, 3 kinds of mousse, eclairs, frosted or plain brownies (are you bold enough to get a brownie with peanut butter buttercream frosting?), cream horns, rum rolls, an amazing peach concoction of sweet dough soaked with peach juice and rum and filled with vanilla pudding (!), Sfogliatelle, Zeppol, cream puffs, NY style cheesecake, fruit slices (peaches and strawberries with whipped cream layers and frosting), pasticiotti, cappuccino slices, Amaretto Squares, Limoncello Cake Slices and Chocolate Brownie Cake Slices. And there's more - miniature pastries, Cheese danish, apple, raspberry and blueberry turnovers, Cranberry Orange scones, blueberry scones, chive scones, and roasted red pepper scones, lemon and cherry squares. Get the picture? And I haven't mentioned their Italian cookies, 25 cake varieties, cupcakes, cake pops, pizza slices, sandwiches and stuffed breads. The truth is, this place is fantastic and is clearly in the top ten percent of Italian bakeries we've visited. We picked up an assortment of cake slices, a croissant, a scone, and a donut yesterday. They all looked amazing! We started off splitting that donut, and it was great -very light, not too sweet and just plain delicious. Shout out to the young lady who waited on us, she was pleasant and friendly, and our interaction was a far contrast to some of the less than favorable interactions reported by other Yelpers. PRO TIP 1) Don't worry about parking- they're in a shopping center with plenty of parking. 2) How good does their fig, prosciutto and Asiago cheese stuffed bread sound?
