While passing through Storrs I wanted to spice up my life a bit and stopped into Wings Over for a quick take out bite to eat on my journey. Called ahead to place order (can do online as well), staff very friendly and will ensure to have your order covered quickly. Given a 15-20 minute timeframe for the order and it was ready at the 20 minute mark. There is no seating tables to eat here, take out centric. Plenty of parking out front and a bench to sit along with TV to watch while you wait if needed. Food was good, just the right amount of heat I needed for my evening treat! read more

never leave reviews, but after a few tries with this place I just can't ignore it anymore. I really want to like Wings Over because the food can be good, but the experience lately has been rough every single time. I've placed mobile orders, my card gets charged, and then when I show up they act like the order never existed. Then I'm stuck waiting again or trying to fix it, which is honestly the last thing you want to deal with after a long day when you're just trying to grab food. On top of that, every visit the service is awful. Asking a simple question or for a sauce feels like you're annoying them. The attitude is just not it. I'm not expecting five-star service, but getting the order I paid for and not feeling like I'm a problem for asking would be nice. I had just gotten set up at Hanks Hall and realized that I hadn't eaten anything all day, and on a Sunday, not much is open. Luckily, this place was! I've never eaten at wings over before, but I know I needed some sort of food in my system, and the place was air conditioned too, which helped with the horrible heat. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself was quiet and small, but not in a bad way, just something I noticed. However, I decided to get the boneless 6 piece with plain fries and blue cheese, as well as honey BBQ. It didn't take long at all, and you could tell it was fresh. Once I got back to my dorm, the food was still hot and ready, and my god, the chicken was delicious. The fries being crinkle cut were surprisingly good too, and the blue cheese is always a favorite of mine. Would recommend if you haven't been here yet! read more

I usually don't leave reviews especially bad ones but this is multiple times and I have had enough with this place. Every time I walk into that establishment I am met with the most rude, lazy, and unhelpful people you could come across. First off, they have to fix their app. How come I have had multiple mobile orders get charged to my card but somehow they never get the ticket. Also, how come every time I walk in there, there is something they are out of or just straight up too lazy to get. If you ask for an extra side of sauce they will just roll their eyes give you attitude. Not to mention charging almost 2 dollars for a side of ranch is ridiculous. However, I went there twice this week, the first time the service was really weird, with no greetings and whatnot. That bothered me. But I let it go. But last night I order 12 wings, and then when I got home there were only 10 wings. When I was complaining about this to a friend of mine today, he said this has happened to him before as well. This was a college staple for me on Friday nights. Storrs isn't swarming with food options (definitely not when I was at UConn), but Wings Over is by far the best, drunk or sober. While their regular wings are good, I usually opted for the boneless. The chicken quality they used for boneless is much better than other places and you could a good amount of food (half pound of boneless wings and fries) for a fair price. Ordering was easy and was actually one of the first places I ever ordered from online. Being near UConn, they deliver late (I remember getting delivery at 2am) and delivery time is usually fairly quick. Highly recommend if you're a UConn student. read more

We ordered takeout online recently, and everything went very smoothly! The website is a little dated, but still easy to use nonetheless. The pickup process was seamless- you received an email or text with an approximate time of pick up, and there are social distancing guidelines in place, plexiglas safe guards between the customer and staff, and all staff members were wearing masks and gloves. Hands down, the best place to get wings in storrs. They are known for their crispy, yet juicy, boneless wings, but their bone-in wings are also equally as good. My favorite is their Sweet Chili flavor and oh my goodness gracious their bleu cheese is on a different level. Worth the $0.50 to get extra sauce. Just wanted to mention that this was the worst meal and experience I have had from Wings over Storrs in the 8-10 years I've been going there (back when they were at their old location across from EO Smith). Problem one: no longer offer onion rings Problem two: waffle fries only? what about mentioning regular fries? The quantity of fries received: pathetic as best. Used to be a decent portion. Not anymore..... Problem three: think I am getting what used to be a hanger 3 (2+ pounds, large fries and 2 drinks). Instead I get 3 different sauces chicken (like I'm supposed to get) and no drinks. Was told I am supposed to asked for drinks before ordering. They used to come with the meal. Problem four: my West Texas Mesquite dry rub.....out of 5 pieces only 1-1/2 pieces of chicken had rub on them, the rest were plain battered chicken....zero rub on them. Problem five: lack of sauces...included Sweet Onion BBQ. Why were so many sauces dropped? Problem six: the person takes my order and then goes in the corner and does his schoolwork. My order had to be assembled by the other register person who at least asked who I was or else I would probably still be waiting for my order. In essence, this once nice chicken wing restaurant has gone down the tubes. This is by far the best wings I have ever had. Whenever coming to UConn wings over was always a must. I can't really remember a time I came to UConn and didn't order from wings over. The wimpy was my favorite sauce it had a great taste always. I loved the fact that they allow you to get either all drumsticks or all wings because I'm more of a drumstick guy so it was definitely a benefit. Whenever I ordered it was always on a weekend usually so waiting for the wings to come was the worst part but understandable seeing as it's on a college campus and everyone was ordering. After reading the menu that states they have the largest, tastiest wings my expectations was set high. 10 bone in wings and three tenders $20. Better be good. Wings Over Storrs was the first Wings Over chain I tried back in 2014 and fell in love with it ever since. The reason why I am reviewing this one and not other ones is because the chicken here is not overly fried like the Northeastern location in Boston. I forgot how great it was here compared to other locations until I had it recently this past weekend. I always order the Hang Glider with honey BBQ. My go-to and super cheap considering it takes me two meals to finish it. If you are ever in this area, I highly recommend coming here. When I went to Uconn 20 years ago, I was a fan of Ted's honey BBQ chicken lips. The reason I still make the half hour trek out to Uconn these days is for Wings Over - Storrs' honey BBQ boneless wings. It's the same great sauce as the chicken lips only on a piece of chicken breast two or three times the size of the meatiest lips! One of the downfalls of the long drive to pick up a take out order is the fries are inevitably cold when I get them home, but they're edible dipped in some ketchup or leftover wing sauce. I really like the onion rings here as well. I'm also a fan of the Honey Mustard and Cruisin' Altitude sauces, Cruisin' Altitude has a good kick without making eating them painful. I used to call in the order halfway there, but realized they food had been sitting for five minutes already when I got there to pick up. Now I just order when I get there and it's ready in five minutes or less. They also offer large party packages... essentially just catering sized trays of wings ribs or sides, if you're having a crowd over, you can feed everyone with one stop. You'll want to call ahead for a large order though, and while crazy tasty and definitely filling, Wings Over is not cheap. One last bummer for me are the hours. I'm not coming home from parties at 1am anymore.. I'd rather be able to pick up some wings for lunch on a weekday. Unfortunately, this place IS a college joint so their hours reflect their target audience... opening at 4pm most weekdays and 1pm on weekends. If you've never been before, there is no dining room. It's a pick up counter with a half dozen chairs for people who are waiting on their order. Take out or delivery only. Also, don't stumble in thinking you can order delivery back to your dorm or apartment and ask the driver to take you and your food there... they have enough signs up in the pick up waiting area that you have to wonder how often someone tries! read more

I will personally never be ordering from wings over Storrs EVER again. My boyfriend and I ordered food at around 1:30 on a Thursday night. I accidentally provided the wrong credit card; so I proceeded to immediately call back and cancel the order. Although I assured them I'd be placing another one. Soon after I placed the order again with the right card I received a call from wings over, assuring the cancellation and also that they had received the second order. The delivery estimate was 2:40-2:50. At around 2:55, we still didn't have the food. We politely called and asked if our order was on its way, since they close at 3. The man on the phone assured us the driver was bagging the order, and it would be delivered within 10 minutes. He reiterated it was coming to our exact residence hall. Around 3:45 we decided our food wasn't coming. We called back, but phone lines were off because the store was closed. Disappointed, we went to bed without our food. We called back the next day, hoping to receive some sympathy. We were expecting to receive at least a refund, or the order of food we PAID for already. But, the manager had something else in mind. He insisted wings over never received our order, and that he wasn't there that night so there's nothing he could do. Yet, we spoke to someone from wings over, assuring us our food would be delivered within minutes. Not only that, but refused to give us a refund or our order of food. The entire conversation was just the manager insisting that wings over never got our order, and that no one in the store was there that night so they couldn't help us. Worst customer service I've ever received BY FAR. (Not to mention, we had to argue with some lady on the phone and ask over and over again for the manager.) Reality check, UConn students and Storrs locals: if you like real chicken wings, the Wings Over franchise is not your place. I'm awarding three stars because of the painfully mis-named "boneless wings." Uhm, if they're not made of wing meat, they're not wings... Period. Still, the "boneless breaded chicken fingers with sauce," as they should be called, are pretty decent. A good gut busting college meal for not a lot of money. As for the actual wings? In a word: GROSS. Real wings are not supposed to be breaded! If cooked properly (and these aren't), the crispiness of the chicken skin allows a wing to stand on its own merit, No texture-destroying batters or breadings necessary! So yeah, ironically, Wings Over Storrs has no idea how to make actual wings. Wings Over Storrs might be my #1 weakness. They are known around campus for delivering late night. The best part of going out is ordering wings afterwards!! I suggest the honey BBQ boneless wings. I am usually not one to ever order that (I'm typically a buffalo girl) but I have heard great things about this kind so I had to try. They have some problem with consistency, but when they get it it's fantastic. If they miss it's almost always a near miss (too much sauce, not enough sauce, fries not cooked through). This being said, we drive 20 mins each way to get these wings weekly. If you order during off hours, (Avoid Sunday night around 7-10PM) you're usually never let down. We love these wings and get them EVERY WEEK! They are the best. Only wish they had some sort of loyalty program, their coupons are not always for the best products on the menu (waffle fries are horrible). Docked off a star because since my last review, they've changed their menu! The smallest bone-in wing order is now 10 wings instead of 7. I'm definitely not going to eat 10 wings in one sitting, can't always find someone to split wings with, and don't want to reheat them as leftovers (they're just not as good the next day), so this does not a happy customer make. It just seems like a ploy to make more money, and as a broke college student, I'm not going to spend $10 on wings in one go. I've since switched to the boneless wings (which are still available in a normal one-person order), but they're just not as good. I also hate that they're now enforcing a $10 order minimum for delivery. As I said earlier, I'm not about to spend $10 on one order of wings. It's a shame. My biggest and only complaint is the fact that it seems like when I order on a Friday or sat night online ordering is closed as well as when I call, but maps says their open till 3am! Checked this place out when my husband wanted to reminisce his college days at UConn. The prices are decent, although I cannot imagine having eaten here as a college student, it's pricy for people who most probably don't get much of an income. That being said... Don't come here if what you are looking for is a healthy meal. They have all sorts of wings with 18 favors or more I think. The spicy garlic is yummy! At least they have a Caesar salad :) I got the salad with broiled wings. That'll do! Just a warning, if you want to take the food to go, to eat elsewhere (other than your own home) they do not provide cutlery or napkins. One of my favorite gut busting, so not good for you take out places. I love the wings here, and frequent often. My favorites are the mild sauce as well as the Parmesan garlic. Unfortunately, with the garlic, after eating a few you're somewhat unable to socialize in the usual manner. Ya kinda stink o' garlic. But you know what...it's so damn worth it, it's reedonkulous!!!! I really need to get up the courage to go hotter on my wings someday--gotta see if I can stand something closer (but not) nuclear. As Ammu K. stated, "don't come here if what you are looking for is a healthy meal." If you're looking for a party platter full of wings and fries and onion rings, etc., this is your place.
