Warm colors, wood accents, friendly staff. Not an overwhelming menu, I always like to see a place that is focusing on core foods and not trying to do too much. The blues may be a little too loud, but blues music is the soundtrack to BBQ food, especially Memphis style, so it's a good fit. I got a two meat combo plate, with ribs, burnt endz, bacon mac and cheese, and dill potato salad. Let's address the lesser aspects so we can end on a high note. The burnt endz. I assume they're spelled with a z in the same way spray can cheese is cheez. I know that there are only going to be so many true burnt ends with bark and tender meat inside per brisket, and so a restaurant is likely going to supplement with chopped point. However, there should not be huge fat caps on most of the cubes, or just cubes of fat. At least having some true burnt ends in an order would be nice too. The mac and cheese I received was delivered lukewarm, and I'm not sure what was up with that, so I didn't eat much of it. Now for the high point finisher! Those ribs man. These things were spectacular, and the light slap of sauce on them was just right to deliver the brown sugar flavor to your mouth without being excessive, or drown out the meat itself. When all these other reviews rave about the ribs being worth a drive, they mean it. Also, the dill potato salad is a win. Not heavy, not slap you with vinegar or mustard, but flavorful with dill and bacon. I scraped the bottom of my bowl to get it all. All in all, worth a visit, and another joint in Colchester that adds to the prestigious food scene that town is building.

Decades earlier, Sneideman's wife said that he should make his own restaurant called "Skyscraper", in reference to New York City. Sneideman didn't end up opening a restaurant, but he did spend over 25 years in the culinary field where he spent time managing fast-casual restaurants. Eventually he decided that he wanted to work for himself and an opportunity for a new food truck came along. He finally had the chance to use the name "Skyscraper", and the focus of the menu became New York-style deli sandwiches. Many of the sandwiches feature corned beef or pastrami, such as 'Reubens' and 'Rachels'. Skyscraper Sandwiches can usually be found parked at breweries, wineries, farmers' markets, and various festivals throughout Connecticut. Sneideman is often assisted by members of his own family. The rye bread was awesome and expertly grilled. The turkey was outstanding and good juicy. And check out the pics and see the unique way they grooved the turkey. Loved it. The Swiss - melted! The coleslaw tasted fresh and provided the needed crunchy texture. My one small note - I could have used more Truck Sauce (said in a Christopher Walken voice). Mind you every time we go it's $180 or so not including tip. It's 2 adults and 3 teenagers. We always get their rocking nachos and sometimes fried calamari. Their food is good the majority of the time. There's been a few times there nacho's been stale but I noticed last time that the portion was way smaller. I noticed since it's 5 of us and I asked them about it and they admitted that they made the portion smaller due to whatever I don't even remember what their excuse was but whatever. My kids don't like any of their bbq menu or sauces they really don't like the smokiness or the taste. My son likes to order their steak frites which is $35. Usually there's 2 or 3 of us that have that. Lately though I've change my order to chicken alfredo which I really like. They're sauce is nice and thick and hot unlike some places I've been to. Anyways when we went there today HUNGRY and wanting to get some food they told me there's a cover charge of $15. I told them we were there to eat dinner and my bill was gonna be over $150 but they said it still applied. So I chose to leave and walked out. I could've paid the $15 but I was making a point. Why should I pay extra $15 cover charge when that $15 can go towards a waiter/waitress tip?It was annoying to know that we already there hungry and ready to sit down and eat and their charging an extra $15 like there was an event or something. There was nothing going on. Who knows, I feel maybe bcuz I'm Puerto Rican they wanted to charge me extra. For as long as I've gone there the owner never has acknowledged us as regular customers. I don't want to give them an extra $15. Everything is expensive everywhere we go. Gas, groceries, everything. I could've cooked at home but I decided to treat my family out to dinner and they ask me for a cover charge. I don't think so. So I walked out and went to Maggie McFly's and paid about $172 w/tip. So I'm writing this review to say that they weren't going to get an extra cent out of me. Another person probably would've just paid it but there's been plenty of times that customers just go there to line dance or play bingo an are just not ordering anything close to the amount of money I'm paying. They're probably getting a burger and a drink so for them to ask for a cover charge when there are 5 of us for dinner is ridiculous and greedy of them..
