Girlfriend was very interested in the tacos, so we opt for a trio of their spicy tacos. Service was quick and we found a seat to dig in. Overall, the chicken was tasty but the rest was okay. The sauce was kind of like franks red hot but a bit tangier but a little milder. It's a solid sauce, but I usually prefer a little more heat. The taco shells were generic, out of a bag tortillas. Nothing special of note there, just plain flour tortillas. they didn't bulk out the tacos with lots of extra slaw, but the chicken portion was very small for the size of tortilla they used. In the future, they should look at street taco tortillas. they're a bit smaller, but would make the chicken look like a significantly larger portion. Then if they use a seasoned crispy batter then dunk the tenders in the sauce then it would be a very awesome bite. for what we got, it was good but not great. They need to make little tweaks to get them to great, but it's easy enough to do. I hope to see some quality improvements going forward, but for now they are a solid choice if you're in the mood for unhealthy chicken.

They were supposed to be here from 4-8 and I didn't time how long it was taking but I went up there twice and they claimed that they were waiting for the rice to finish. I probably was one of the first customers so I figured they might not have been ready and they had given me a free soda and a free dessert and extra pork so I wasn't too irritated about the situation. Plus the people who work the truck are very nice. Today, I was incredibly annoyed because I should have just cooked like I planned to. My food would have gotten done faster than they boxed up the food I bought. I paid almost 60 dollars including a tip to wait almost an hour for two pork bowls and rice. I wasn't given a wait time when I ordered the food so I just went to sit in my car outside my building since I figured it wouldn't take that long. After half an hour I decided to go see why the thing they gave me hadn't buzzed yet. When I went over, they were chatting up other customers having a great time. I asked about my order and they claimed it had been called already, so I figured it was just a mistake, but then someone else said they were still waiting on one more pork bowl. So I went inside, put away my groceries, washed my dishes, took out the trash and finally when I returned the food was done. If they ever come back here, I won't be spending my money with them, as nice as they are, they have held up my time twice and the food isn't worth my time. Oh and all I got for all that wait was a "God bless you" so I hope the Lord blesses them with better time management and that we never meet again.

I first visited La Cocina Cubano Food Truck about a year ago, with the intention of trying a Cubano…read moresandwich, but I got distracted by a Chicken Fricassee special they had that day. I finally tried the Cubano today, and it's the best Cubano sandwich I've had in CT. I know everybody is anxious to hear a guy originally from the Ohio suburbs break down a Cubano sandwich. So hear you go. Many CT places make good Cubanos, but they're more Cubano-adjacent than authentic. I don't think anybody but La Cocina gets the bread right in CT. The owners' Dad is Cuban and has owned a bakery. He makes the bread for these Cubanos. The bread is what you would find at the good Miami bakeries and sandwich shops. Fresh. Thin. Wide. Tasty. It has terrific color and texture when it's pressed on a Plancha. A lot of CT places have some good ingredients for their Cubanos, but the balance of ingredients and flavors is wrong in some way. A Cubano has two flavorfully impactful ingredients -- Mustard and Pickles. Although ham can be too salty in large quantities, the remaining Cubano ingredients are more or less mild. Swiss has less salt than many cheeses. And the pork umami flavor is subtle as well. I find some places ruin their sandwiches with an overly aggressive mustard or distracting pickles. La Cocina's Cubano flavors are perfectly balanced, and really allow the juiciness and umami flavors of the slow roasted citrus Mojo marinated pork and the texture of the bread to stand out. The sliced pickles are tasty and almost have a slight Gherkin vibe to the brine, and the mustard is mild and applied in a quantity that complements and doesn't overpower anything. The Swiss was perfectly melted and stretchy, and its mild flavor was just right. I highly recommend La Cocina's Cubano. Check their Socials to find the truck at locations such as near Bushnell Park and Trinity College. 5 Stars

Skyscraper Sandwiches is a New York-style deli sandwich food truck that opened in Glastonbury,…read moreConnecticut in July 2017. It was founded by Jay Sneideman. Decades earlier, Sneideman's wife said that he should make his own restaurant called "Skyscraper", in reference to New York City. Sneideman didn't end up opening a restaurant, but he did spend over 25 years in the culinary field where he spent time managing fast-casual restaurants. Eventually he decided that he wanted to work for himself and an opportunity for a new food truck came along. He finally had the chance to use the name "Skyscraper", and the focus of the menu became New York-style deli sandwiches. Many of the sandwiches feature corned beef or pastrami, such as 'Reubens' and 'Rachels'. Skyscraper Sandwiches can usually be found parked at breweries, wineries, farmers' markets, and various festivals throughout Connecticut. Sneideman is often assisted by members of his own family. My family and I sampled some of Skyscraper's delicious sandwiches this past autumn. We were visiting Long View Ciderhouse in Southington and Skyscraper Sandwiches was the scheduled food truck that day. I can't say no to a good Jewish-style deli sandwich. After looking over the menu, I ordered a "Turkey Cranberry Melt" (hand-carved roasted turkey, cranberry sauce, tomatoes, melted Swiss on grilled rye), my wife ordered the "Reuben" (pastrami, Swiss cheese, truck sauce, and sauerkraut on grilled rye), and our older son ordered the "Pastrami Grilled Cheese" (pastrami, melted Swiss, sweet onion jam on grilled rye). These were huge sandwiches and very filling! The meats were delicious as well as the rye bread that they use. The sandwiches paired well with our cider flights. I really hope that I run into Skyscraper Sandwiches again!

BEST! 5- Food Truck?…read moreRestaurants are on notice ... this food truck is out to take your business. The food here bridges the gap between "restaurant" and "home" Indian food. Bold flavors that also allow subtle aromatics to shine! No wonder the people in line came from Worcester, MA to Manchester, CT just for this food. Beats 90% of the Indian fare in CT. And I only say 90% to reserve for others I haven't yet tried.

**Mayabazaar: Creative Concept, Underwhelming Execution**…read more You can't miss the Mayabazaar food truck when you spot it--the exterior is a creative mashup of Indian cinema meets Marvel, with Bollywood and Tollywood actors' faces photoshopped onto the Avengers. It's quirky, fun, and definitely gets your attention. We went in with high hopes and hungry stomachs. Here's where we might have gone wrong: Mayabazaar apparently specializes in South Indian food, but we decided to venture into their Indo-Chinese offerings instead. We ordered chicken fried rice, chicken Hakka noodles, chicken lollypop, and--staying closer to their wheelhouse--South Indian thagubothu chicken. The verdict? Everything was just...meh. Nothing had that standout flavor or quality that would make you think, "I need to drive out of my way for this." We were two families, seven people total, and we sampled what felt like a rainbow of preparations from their menu. The food wasn't bad, per se, but it wasn't memorable either. None of us have made the trip back. Hartford County already has a crowded field of Indian restaurants, each claiming authenticity and trying to carve out their niche. Mayabazaar has real potential--the creative branding shows they're thinking outside the box. But potential only goes so far. The execution needs to match the concept. Maybe we should have stuck with their South Indian specialties instead of the Indo-Chinese route. But when a restaurant offers a diverse menu, everything on it should be worth ordering. For now, Mayabazaar remains just another option in an already saturated market.
