I wish I read the reviews here on Yelp before committing to Patruno's place for my dinner choice…read more I feel badly because the people in the truck seemed really nice and I don't want to defame their business in any way, but their food leaves much to be desired. With a little effort this truck could be a gem!! Basically the equivalent of a 3 frozen meatballs on dinner rolls with canned sauce and a sprinkle of store brand shredded mozzarella, the meatball sliders were hard to choke down even when I was quite hungry. And at $13 + tip it wasn't a bargain. If the staff ever reads these reviews, please up your game a little and at least melt the cheese and toast the bun so it doesn't fall apart into a soggy mess. Sprinkle a dash of fresh oregano on the top so it has some flavor.

And I like me my meatballs. So I had to try them. They were not good. They made their meatballs very dense, a little too heavy on the breading and egg. The sauce was straight up hunts tomato sauce from a can barely warmed up. The cheese was cheap mozzarella but at least it was melted by the sauce No seasoning, no care, just a mound of meat with canned sauce and bagged cheese. The price was high, the quality was low, and I woukd rate it lower but I did not get food poisoning. So it has that going for it, I did not get sick and their food was edible. Given that this is a food truck, the benefit is that there's usually other options to try. They would need to make everything better or be really cheap to justify getting food from them.

I'm not sure if it was a shift change or just timing, but even though the restaurant wasn't very busy, it felt like we were left a bit on the side for a while. Nothing major, just something noticeable. Also, while the food is creative and well made, some items felt a bit pricey for the portion size (for example, a meatball serving), so value may depend on what you order. That said, it definitely wouldn't stop me from coming back. Good food, good beer selection, and overall a solid spot.

Boy I hate writing this. I've been going to Bears since it opened up in its first location, which…read morewas shared with another restaurant in an old gas station/drive-in... it was PHENOMINAL back then. I would bring everyone there. When they opened the new location in Windsor , it was still great. It was a birthday outing type of thing. I went again last week, which was likely my final time. For the past few years, I've been giving it a pass... growing pains, maybe? But the food is not what it was. The succulent, juicy brisket that I used to dream of has been dry and cold for the last year or so (probably 3 or 4 visits). The burnt ends, which used to be as addictive, are now no longer made from brisket...but what seems to be cubed chuck...again, dry. Texas sausage and pulled pork are still ok, as are the sides. On top of that, they are always short staffed, and the staff that they do have is not helpful...not friendly.. Just a big NOT anymore. I haven't been to the Hartford or New Haven locations recently, but as far as Windsor is concerned, it will not be going back anytime soon. I don't mind paying the premium prices for quality food and service, but you are no longer premium. Please figure this out. My favorite place no longer exists.. and I really want it to return to the quality of the past.

This is the second time I have bought something from this truck. Where I live has food trucks come…read moresome nights and the first time I tried this place, the wait was a long time. They were supposed to be here from 4-8 and I didn't time how long it was taking but I went up there twice and they claimed that they were waiting for the rice to finish. I probably was one of the first customers so I figured they might not have been ready and they had given me a free soda and a free dessert and extra pork so I wasn't too irritated about the situation. Plus the people who work the truck are very nice. Today, I was incredibly annoyed because I should have just cooked like I planned to. My food would have gotten done faster than they boxed up the food I bought. I paid almost 60 dollars including a tip to wait almost an hour for two pork bowls and rice. I wasn't given a wait time when I ordered the food so I just went to sit in my car outside my building since I figured it wouldn't take that long. After half an hour I decided to go see why the thing they gave me hadn't buzzed yet. When I went over, they were chatting up other customers having a great time. I asked about my order and they claimed it had been called already, so I figured it was just a mistake, but then someone else said they were still waiting on one more pork bowl. So I went inside, put away my groceries, washed my dishes, took out the trash and finally when I returned the food was done. If they ever come back here, I won't be spending my money with them, as nice as they are, they have held up my time twice and the food isn't worth my time. Oh and all I got for all that wait was a "God bless you" so I hope the Lord blesses them with better time management and that we never meet again.
