Great entrees, bad appetizers Little marks is our stop for a quick casual bite around Vernon. Enjoy the smoked meats, sides are okay, but the quality is usually really good. My review this time is highlighting my biggest gripe. We got a half-rack of ribs, Santa Fe egg rolls, and a meatloaf sandwich. For 16 bucks, we get two egg rolls put on a giant plate with arugula put on the bottom to try and disguise the shame. This isn't the first time we've had issues with the portion size of an appetizer at this location either. I know appetizers are not entrees, I know that some things take more time to craft and prepare. If the portion is going to be small and expensive, use smaller plates, make sure the flavor is strong, and make them thick. Even if they gave us 3 and put them in a fry basket would've been a better showing than an awkward attempt of an egg roll salad In contrast, for 18 bucks I get this beautifully smoked meatloaf sandwich with a slew of caramelized onions and a perfectly placed breaded mozzarella to give that epic cheese pull. Along with sweet potato fries and Cole slaw and a pickle. We complained about the egg rolls and got them removed from the bill, so my review score doesn't reflect them. The entrees are stellar, the sides are afterthoughts, and the price is appropriate for the quality. They need better attention to detail on their sides to make them that truly epic bbq spot, and if they do that they can be one of the greats. But I'm using this review to hopefully pass on some knowledge to those planning to swing by. Stick to the entrees and you'll have a great experience. Stray from the mains, and your experience can vary.

Went there with my wife and family yeah I'm really had a great time thanks to our server, Hillary, and the food is really good, as well as the cold beer!! Only downside for me personally was the acoustics made the place extremely loud. Can't wait to come back again !

I am rating this a 4 stars with the caveat that this will be a 4 star once the training wheels are off. Our experience tonight was a 3 - however very easy fixes and understood complications with a restaurant only being open 3 days and its first Friday night service. First off the food. Delicious. We order the tumbleweeds and wings for an app. Wings - Best in the area - by far!!! Smokey and juicy!! The tumbleweeds were slightly less than, they were overpacked in the fryer leaving an undercooked and soggy texture to about half - easy fix. We ordered the sampler bbq platter - Ribs, sausage, and pulled pork. I really appreciated the Smokey flavor - you actually taste that these meats were on the grill being smoked and charred. We felt none of the meats needed the additional sauce and honestly the sauces aren't the best - did not do the meats any 'flavor'. lol. The staff was super friendly however our section was sat inefficiently for the waiter and she had a hard time keeping up. We were sat in the extra seating space by the bathrooms - farthest from the kitchen and bar. The extra space was noticeable in the amount of time between waitress sightings in our area. With that said - super friendly and hospitable waitress - she did 5 stars for what she was given. I am excited to see what this place can do in the next couple of months. Definitely worth the visit - but reminder they just opened. So be kind and respect the process. I would rather wait and the food be delicious.

I'm guilty of being slow to try the new Little Mark's BBQ on Kelly Rd. In Vernon. I was a fan of the old one and George catered some large backyard parties I had - always did a wonderful job. The new spot is awesome! Bright, clean, modern, lots of TV's and 2 bars; big & little. Our service was excellent on Sunday at around 2:00 and they had a decent crowd. I especially liked their tumbleweeds and special Korean BBQ ribs appy. We had the Baby Back ribs and with a heavy smoked flavor and generous portion we were more than happy! Really nice place and seems well run and good food. I see a bright future!

We stopped in on our way from Portland, ME back to MD. The food was pretty good. The steak was cooked well but needed some more seasoning. The dirty rice lacked flavor. The catfish was excellent, seasoned and cooked very well. Service was a bit slow and we had to ask for a refill on drinks even though the place wasn't very busy. Also had to ask for a box and our check. They have lots of tables/seating and a bar.

Loved this place! They fixed it up and turned it into a great little barbecue spot! We split a southwest wrap that was full of avocado, grilled chicken, and a great dressing g. We asked them to leave dirty rice out. It was delicious and plenty for two. We had a side of Cajun fries . My stepmom got the brisket grilled cheese. It was on a brioche roll and came with onion straws. She is taking 1/2 home. We will be back!

Original recipes, Original owner, and the same great food! Started with the Burnt Ends, of course, with their sweet BBQ sauce....Memory lane material!!! Had the catfish entree, blackened, two filet portion and very yummy; the jalepeneo tartar sauce added an extra kick! Wife had the Cesar salad with chicken. Very good sized salad and the cornbread croutons were a nice touch! Overall, great service and food and ambiance!! Welcome back Lil Mark!!!

I liked the old Little Marks. Towards the end it got a little shaky, but I didnt want the place to shut down. So I thought it was great when they opened a new place in the location of the worst Italian place in town. The ribs were better than they were before! The new place looks great! Excellent crew was on hand to hook us up, but I bet the place gets noisy on the weekend! We hit it early in the midweek, not too busy, and things went great. Welcome back Little Marks, I look forward to going back.

    Catfish and chips. Winner!

Service is mediocre even when the dining room is mostly empty. Ribs were all bone, no meat. Chicken was WAY overcooked.

Which brings me to my newly crowned favorite sandwich - Tongue On Rye; ask for the tip slices very lean. I even got a dependable guarantee from our server she'd provide an unforgettable tongue sandwich. In a comedic mood, I asked our server to not give me any lip! She doubled over giggling and said thank you for your honesty and THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I've been asked just Tongue with "No Lip." The still tastes good, with some exceptions. The frier oil seemed burnt, so the pickle chips we had just had that little bit of carbon taste on them. The pickle chips batter was very thick, and the mayo was the only respite. The sandwich, still tasty, seemed much smaller than normal, the meat still had good flavor, but the portion was lighter in comparison. The prices are also a bit high. The sandwich coming out to about 15 bucks. The bargain is very much gone now, and the portion is okay for a sandwich but pricy because of this shrinkage. Not shown are the overcooked onion rings. We returned those and the server promptly removed them from the bill. So really good customer service. I opted for a brownie for dessert, and the brownie was a disappointment. Too sugary, no flavor, gummy, and disappointingly small and thin. A detractor for sure. As a deli, it feels like it's on the decline. I know things are pricier now, but what you pay vs what you get doesn't match up. I'm hoping they pivot from this path, but right now it's no longer my go-to. It's still tasty, just pricy

Good meatballs, good cheese, wet sauce…read more This time around, I opted to try their lunch items to go. When I went to pick things up, noted some enhancements. They added sound proofing to above the bar and textured the walls a bit with exposed brick facades. So I do appreciate the attempts to improve the dine- in experience. The lunch special was 10 bucks for half a portion or a full small cheese pizza, so I got it all to try. The meatballs were not as great as the first time I got them, but still pretty good. Little dense, but a great pork flavor. The spaghetti was hollow, which is a unique twist I didn't see coming. The sauce they use for the spaghetti and meatballs and the pizza is the same, they just use less of it for the pizza. That sauce works well for the pasta. It does not work well for the pizza. It's too watery, which prevents the crust from cooking. I've typed this ad nauseum at this point. Which is really sad because the cheese is actually pretty good. The crust is good, the cheese is good, but they almost like clockwork mess up the cooking and it's very much the sauce that's to blame. They've corrected for most everything up to this point, they just got one last hurdle to clear. If you decide to dine here, avoid the tomato based pizzas and opt for a white pie or no sauce. You'll get a pretty good pie for the price. A little pricy but prepared well

What a cold and windy day and the air is salty and my windshield and coat shows it! Hungry, tired, and annoyed at the salty weather I walk in to a polite young man at the counter who warmly invites me in and tells me I can sit where I please...which I obliged after asking to use their restroom which was clean. I make my way to my table and the restaurant is picking up with more people checking in while there are others already present on the left side of this restaurant and few others await pickup orders. There seems to be just a small number of staff but they are very efficient and attentive. After I sat down I was expecting to be forgotten but nope! The young man walked over with a glass of water for me and took my order. There were so many great options on the menu so it was a task to decide butI did it! For a drink I choose the original milk tea with Boba pearls. For app I choose the grilled betel leaf with meat stuffed inside of it and for my main course I got the Hue's Spicy Noodle Soup. Everything from start to finish was delicious. I enjoyed my milk tea very much and finished it off after my meal. The Betel Leaf rolls are perfectly seasoned. I like mine dipped in Siracha. I ate it all! My noodle soup, OMG, the broth was amazing! Please taste it first before adding other sauces. It deserves to be acknowledged first. I'd drive 1.5 hrs back here just for this soup again. Its a must try. I highly recommend this restaurant. I can't wait to go back and bring my friends and family with me to try other things on their menu. BTW I enjoyed my meal so much I ordered their cold cut sandwiches to take home and share with my family as a treat upon my return home. I didn't get a chance for a pic for them cause I ate it and forgot lol.

Still pretty good pho, big portions and good flavors…read more I've come to this place a few times throughout the year. It's a good pho spot for the Vernon location. The portions are plentiful, the soup is okay but there's plenty of toppings and sauces to doctor it up a bit. The spring rolls and egg rolls have a good amount of pork in them and the dipping sauces are fresh and tasty. The egg roll sauce is this rose water floral sweet, tangy dip which helps with the rich pork. The peanut sauce for the spring rolls had a little spicy zip to it which complimented the fresh veggies. Overall, it's good pho. The pho base needs to be more assertive in its flavor profile. It needs a deeper beef or chicken flavor and more seasoning. So possibly a bit more salt and vinegar to amp up the flavors of the soup a bit. If they make the soup base stronger, then it can contend with the big names of pho in ct. as it stands though, it's pretty good for the area

Surprisingly good food in a pottery painting place…read more Been meaning to review this place for a while. Each time I'd go in, see no one around, then left. This last attempt, there was a bunch of staff around so I got the full experience. The staff were very friendly and informative. They explained the pottery painting side of things to anyone painting a piece. They had a wealth of knowledge in that regard, explaining how to get the best results for each medium. I wasn't here for the pottery, I was here for the food. So they sat at a 4 top and let me go up to the cafe to order. The menu is basic, egg sandwiches, avocado toast, French toast, coffees and lattes. Some fresh baked pastries available but mostly simple dishes. I opted for their French toast latte and an egg sandwiches with bacon. Also got a cinnamon roll that was baked that morning. Food came out after a few minutes. Not speedy but not slow. Took some pics and dug in. There's a fundamental rule that I follow when reviewing. "The flavors on the description need to match the flavors of the dish." There's sandwich did this exemplary. The garlic aoli had a strong but slightly acidic bite to it, which helped the arugula's bitterness. The egg was fluffy, the tomato grilled and salted, and the bacon perfectly crispy. The soft home made bread was almost too soft, compressing down to nothing after each bite. If anything, the bread could've been grilled to give it a bit more structure. But besides that gripe, it's one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had. The latte, that's what took the star off. The coffee is giv beans, so a good quality product. The problem was it was extremely, overbearingly bitter. With a French toast latte, you'd expect the sweet to counteract the bitter. But nope, the sweet came from the cold foam and the concentrated coffee at the base led to straight sips of cringingly bitter coffee. After mixing the cold foam into the coffee, it became more bearable. But the damage was done by that point, and my pallet was shot. Had to dump most of the coffee. Overall, it's a neat place to go to. It's rare to have activities along with good food, and the staff there make the experience great. Not too much a fan of the specialty coffee, but the food is well worth the price. A solid food choice for Main Street.
