Was in the mood for a sub, so i decided to give this place a try. The I order the Italian with a side of lobster bisque. They were very generous with the meat portions, and the sub was dressed quite well. The lobster bisque was a nice surprise: creamy and decadent. Plenty of selections and sizes

Large steak and cheese "with mushrooms" from a previous visit. Very light on the steak and zero mushrooms. Disappointing.

D'Angelos, along with their sister company Papa Gino's, used to be EVERYWHERE in Connecticut. Over the last decade or so most have packed up and left. There are only 7 D'Angelos left in CT and only 2 Papa Gino's and 1 of each of those is inside the terminal at Bradley Int'l so you can't stop for anything unless you're flying in or out. I really struggled with the star rating on this one because though they are responsive and they do try, there have been too many issues with this location (as other reviews have also noted) and I can't bring myself to give this location more than 2-2.5 stars at best. Mainly because this place could be much, much better. The menu here is pretty basic, and though they have cold sandwiches, salads and a few "bowl" variations their biggest business is the grilled sandwiches. I've eaten at D'Angelos all over the state where they used to be and it was always consistent and good no matter what location you visited. A few of the other remaining locations are closer to that but this one is an anomaly and every time I visit another one I'm reminded of that. The worst part of it is the inattention to detail (accuracy of orders) and the shrinking portions. The disturbing part about the smaller portions is that I've always seen them cook the meat by weight, I'm not sure they're doing that anymore - or at least here - because the last "large" sandwich I got (previous visit) was missing ingredients and woefully under-portioned. I'd give this place at least 3-3.5 maybe even 4 stars but they haven't proven to me yet that they deserve it. Because the other locations have been consistent and good I sometimes forget the issues at this location and go back only to be disappointed more often than not. I will say that the last visit (pictures included) was much better, but time will tell. Not saying I won't go back here but the Rocky Hill location isn't that much further of a drive so, do BETTER Vernon D'Angelos. Just do better.

This is a nice alternative to Subway. I generally prefer sandwiches from Subway, but like a rotation. Grilled sandwiches are the most popular thing here. I like the steak number 9 sandwich the most. After that i like the Korean BBQ Steak and Cheese. Mostly I go for large and stuff it with extra meat. It tastes better with extra meat. After sandwich, I like their rice bowls. Their clam chowder soup is also good.

Since this D'angelo's seems to be the last one standing I had to check this location out! It was a bit of a drive from my location however, the lobster roll I ordered was amazing! They have a large selections of sandwiches and soups. The customer service was good!

If D'Aangelo's needs to charge $18 to make a decent sandwich, please, just do that. Inflation, we get it. This right here just going to piss off customers and force them to seek alternative.

Which brings me to my newly crowned favorite sandwich - Tongue On Rye; ask for the tip slices very lean. I even got a dependable guarantee from our server she'd provide an unforgettable tongue sandwich. In a comedic mood, I asked our server to not give me any lip! She doubled over giggling and said thank you for your honesty and THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I've been asked just Tongue with "No Lip." Despite the comedy and light hearted conversation the table for two was perfect Harry & Sally style! Watching the action, enjoying the lean tongue on rye with mustard an unforgettable delight.

Quality is still good, price and portion are askew…read more We came here as a quick sandwich bite on our way around the state. Service was good, and the ambiance is still lively. The still tastes good, with some exceptions. The frier oil seemed burnt, so the pickle chips we had just had that little bit of carbon taste on them. The pickle chips batter was very thick, and the mayo was the only respite. The sandwich, still tasty, seemed much smaller than normal, the meat still had good flavor, but the portion was lighter in comparison. The prices are also a bit high. The sandwich coming out to about 15 bucks. The bargain is very much gone now, and the portion is okay for a sandwich but pricy because of this shrinkage. Not shown are the overcooked onion rings. We returned those and the server promptly removed them from the bill. So really good customer service. I opted for a brownie for dessert, and the brownie was a disappointment. Too sugary, no flavor, gummy, and disappointingly small and thin. A detractor for sure. As a deli, it feels like it's on the decline. I know things are pricier now, but what you pay vs what you get doesn't match up. I'm hoping they pivot from this path, but right now it's no longer my go-to. It's still tasty, just pricy

Good meatballs, good cheese, wet sauce…read more This time around, I opted to try their lunch items to go. When I went to pick things up, noted some enhancements. They added sound proofing to above the bar and textured the walls a bit with exposed brick facades. So I do appreciate the attempts to improve the dine- in experience. The lunch special was 10 bucks for half a portion or a full small cheese pizza, so I got it all to try. The meatballs were not as great as the first time I got them, but still pretty good. Little dense, but a great pork flavor. The spaghetti was hollow, which is a unique twist I didn't see coming. The sauce they use for the spaghetti and meatballs and the pizza is the same, they just use less of it for the pizza. That sauce works well for the pasta. It does not work well for the pizza. It's too watery, which prevents the crust from cooking. I've typed this ad nauseum at this point. Which is really sad because the cheese is actually pretty good. The crust is good, the cheese is good, but they almost like clockwork mess up the cooking and it's very much the sauce that's to blame. They've corrected for most everything up to this point, they just got one last hurdle to clear. If you decide to dine here, avoid the tomato based pizzas and opt for a white pie or no sauce. You'll get a pretty good pie for the price. A little pricy but prepared well

What a cold and windy day and the air is salty and my windshield and coat shows it! Hungry, tired, and annoyed at the salty weather I walk in to a polite young man at the counter who warmly invites me in and tells me I can sit where I please...which I obliged after asking to use their restroom which was clean. I make my way to my table and the restaurant is picking up with more people checking in while there are others already present on the left side of this restaurant and few others await pickup orders. There seems to be just a small number of staff but they are very efficient and attentive. After I sat down I was expecting to be forgotten but nope! The young man walked over with a glass of water for me and took my order. There were so many great options on the menu so it was a task to decide butI did it! For a drink I choose the original milk tea with Boba pearls. For app I choose the grilled betel leaf with meat stuffed inside of it and for my main course I got the Hue's Spicy Noodle Soup. Everything from start to finish was delicious. I enjoyed my milk tea very much and finished it off after my meal. The Betel Leaf rolls are perfectly seasoned. I like mine dipped in Siracha. I ate it all! My noodle soup, OMG, the broth was amazing! Please taste it first before adding other sauces. It deserves to be acknowledged first. I'd drive 1.5 hrs back here just for this soup again. Its a must try. I highly recommend this restaurant. I can't wait to go back and bring my friends and family with me to try other things on their menu. BTW I enjoyed my meal so much I ordered their cold cut sandwiches to take home and share with my family as a treat upon my return home. I didn't get a chance for a pic for them cause I ate it and forgot lol.

Still pretty good pho, big portions and good flavors…read more I've come to this place a few times throughout the year. It's a good pho spot for the Vernon location. The portions are plentiful, the soup is okay but there's plenty of toppings and sauces to doctor it up a bit. The spring rolls and egg rolls have a good amount of pork in them and the dipping sauces are fresh and tasty. The egg roll sauce is this rose water floral sweet, tangy dip which helps with the rich pork. The peanut sauce for the spring rolls had a little spicy zip to it which complimented the fresh veggies. Overall, it's good pho. The pho base needs to be more assertive in its flavor profile. It needs a deeper beef or chicken flavor and more seasoning. So possibly a bit more salt and vinegar to amp up the flavors of the soup a bit. If they make the soup base stronger, then it can contend with the big names of pho in ct. as it stands though, it's pretty good for the area

Surprisingly good food in a pottery painting place…read more Been meaning to review this place for a while. Each time I'd go in, see no one around, then left. This last attempt, there was a bunch of staff around so I got the full experience. The staff were very friendly and informative. They explained the pottery painting side of things to anyone painting a piece. They had a wealth of knowledge in that regard, explaining how to get the best results for each medium. I wasn't here for the pottery, I was here for the food. So they sat at a 4 top and let me go up to the cafe to order. The menu is basic, egg sandwiches, avocado toast, French toast, coffees and lattes. Some fresh baked pastries available but mostly simple dishes. I opted for their French toast latte and an egg sandwiches with bacon. Also got a cinnamon roll that was baked that morning. Food came out after a few minutes. Not speedy but not slow. Took some pics and dug in. There's a fundamental rule that I follow when reviewing. "The flavors on the description need to match the flavors of the dish." There's sandwich did this exemplary. The garlic aoli had a strong but slightly acidic bite to it, which helped the arugula's bitterness. The egg was fluffy, the tomato grilled and salted, and the bacon perfectly crispy. The soft home made bread was almost too soft, compressing down to nothing after each bite. If anything, the bread could've been grilled to give it a bit more structure. But besides that gripe, it's one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had. The latte, that's what took the star off. The coffee is giv beans, so a good quality product. The problem was it was extremely, overbearingly bitter. With a French toast latte, you'd expect the sweet to counteract the bitter. But nope, the sweet came from the cold foam and the concentrated coffee at the base led to straight sips of cringingly bitter coffee. After mixing the cold foam into the coffee, it became more bearable. But the damage was done by that point, and my pallet was shot. Had to dump most of the coffee. Overall, it's a neat place to go to. It's rare to have activities along with good food, and the staff there make the experience great. Not too much a fan of the specialty coffee, but the food is well worth the price. A solid food choice for Main Street.
