LOVE this place! A combination of a paint your own, craft your own pottery studio and bakery/cafe and gift shop all in one! The staff - amazing. All so pleasant. The food: they make their own breads. the cheddar scallion scone, chocolate chip cookie, and rice krispy treats are our favorite items. We really enjoy the coffees too. Was to get to location. They also sponsor the outdoor seasonal markets which we absolutely love to go to!

I have been a few times and will definitely come back! I love the cafe and the options of pottery to paint. The employees are always very helpful and kind. It can get busy on the weekends, so if you're planning on painting pottery I would recommend making a reservation. Both their matchas and lattes are great, and their seasonal menu is always creative and fun to try!

My new FAVORITE place, man thank goodness their sister store claypen in west Hartford was booked because experiencing this store is a game changer. Looking for a fun date night? Catching up with friends? Have a friend that's not artistic? They can still enjoy the cafe while you paint. I love it here, delicious food, delicious monthly drinks, friendly staff, I will be back again and again!!

Okay, I really love this place. I have not painted anything yet, but the food and coffee here is bussing. I have to come here often because you guys are one of the best parts of this town.

Took a Try It Wheel throwing class with a friend. Very cool and enjoyable experience, go in with no expectations! I feel the instructor could have been a little more attentive to each individual but, still felt supported when I requested assistance.

Did you know you can paint canvases at Firestone and not just ceramics?! It's my new favorite fact! I've absolutely loved the Claypen West Hartford location as it is more convenient - but Manchester is SO worth it for this experience. We were helped by Zach, who is always so kind, explains things well, and goes out of his way to guarantee a fun time for everyone. We spent a rainy Saturday painting and sipping on tea. I highly recommend this spot for everyone who wants a calm environment to paint and chat with friends!

Counter service coffee shop with a wide variety of drinks & a small menu of food inside of a paint-your-own pottery place The food and drinks are nothing special, but is a very unique concept I got a vanilla latte and their granola parfait and they were both ok Everything was made very quickly however 7

This place is a lot of fun everytime I have been here! The food is also very tasty and they serve Giv coffee. Do not sleep on the cauliflower sandwich it is so goooooood!!

This place was nice! We went for a group outing of seven people. When I called earlier in the week,…read morethe guy said we didn't need a reservation and could just walk in for Saturday. We all planned to meet there at 5 PM, but when we arrived, they told us we actually needed a reservation and had to come back at 6:45. Thankfully, West Hartford has plenty to do, so we walked around, grabbed some food, and returned for our reservation. One thing to know is that you pick the pottery you want to paint it's not a place where you make the pottery yourself. That has pros and cons, depending on your preferences. I'm honestly not that artistic when it comes to freehand painting, so I picked a simple snowflake design (probably the cheapest option at around $14). My friends picked reindeer, cookie trays, and other fun items. Painting was fun, but you have to leave your piece for 2-3 weeks to be glazed, so don't expect to take it home the same day. The space is small, but I liked the intimate setting. The staff was also very nice, and overall, I had a good experience. I would definitely go back.

Claypen is located on Farmington Avenue in West Hartford Center between Walden and Dale streets. Lookout for the sessions posted outside if looking for something specific. I was attracted to the Studio Ghibli theme they were having and immediately made a reservation. I honestly didn't know what to expect until I arrived there. Upon check in, we were shown where we'd be seated and were told that we select any ceramic on the shelf and will be provided the paints and can even replenish it ourselves from the shelf. As well as take as much time as we needed to complete our design. My daughter did her own thing and drew Sanrio on different sides while I wanted to paint Haku and my friend, Totoro. I think it all came out really well!! I looked up an image tried to copy it onto the jar. Originally using a pencil and lightly tracing it onto the surface to not affect the image, although I was told that the pencil burns off during the baking process. We were also instructed to paint more than 1 coat so that the paint will show. The whole process was easy enough. When finished, everything can be brought to the counter for payment. Essentially the painting is free, it's the ceramic that needs to be paid for. I would think that the piece is averagely priced. If wanting to be sure, definitely ask before picking a piece. I'd certainly do this again.

We found a nice table by the door, and the whole place had a very homey and relaxed atmosphere. I also loved that they have outdoor seating. I ordered a cappuccino, and it was very good. We didn't order any food because we already had plans to eat somewhere else down the street, although I'm usually tempted by something sweet with my coffee! This time, the desserts didn't really catch my eye. Many of the options appeared to be gluten-free, and visually they looked a little dry to me, so I decided to skip dessert. Overall, though, I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It's a comfortable, welcoming place to sit, enjoy a good cup of coffee, work on your laptop, or just relax. I would definitely stop by again!
