Small studio but great options to paint from, good color choices, and kind staff! Super easy to paint / have fun! Plus they have lots of events on their website. I also loved how much pumpkin / Halloween items they had (seasonal options)

This place is a great spot for all ages. Toddlers, kids, teens, adults...everyone can have a great time! It's simple: walk in (be sure to make a reservation beforehand--it's recommended but not necessary),, choose what you want to paint, choose your colors, then havre fun making your creation! You pay for the sculpture you choose (price range was about $14-$50). Paint is included in that price. So, if you choose a $20 sculpture, that's how much you'll pay. This is a great date night idea and I can't wait to come in with my husband soon! It's a fun way to let out some creative energy or a great way to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art for a loved one. Very worth the visit!

If your looking for a date different than going out to eat everyday try The Claypen. When you go make sure you reserve your seating prior. You are able to pick out a sculpture and paint it. I thought it was cool with the selection they have. Great place to bring your kids or date someone out on a date. The staff is helpful and attentive if you need more paints or have any questions.

I came here for a Yelp event and had a really great time. The selection of items to paint range from large platters to small trinkets to large letters and even a wine stopper. Studio rate is $4/half hour. Not a bad deal! Allie was super helpful and cheerful throughout the process, ever ready to help un-stop a paint bottle for me.

So much fun! My boyfriend and I went on Valentine's day so we were able to take advantage of their special promotion. While The Clay Pen is best known for painting pottery, we were actually there to work with glass. We made beatiful coasters out of color shards of glass and it was a lot of fun. I was going to give this experience a 5 but I chose 3 stars because it's a small space so it can get really crowded fast. Also, we were told we would get a call within 1-2 weeks to pick up our order and never got the call. After almost 3 weeks we called and they told us we can come pick up the coasters but it was disappointing that they never notified us when we were eagerly awaiting. Even so, I would definitely go back.

Fun activity for a group of friends or a date night out. Pick your piece of choice and paints off the shelf and enjoy the night, the Claypen is BYOB so take your time and enjoy the activities. It takes about a week to have your piece fired, but be sure to sign your piece before picking up! Great clay art.

    Masterpiece before the kiln

I want to start this review by stating that I am not artistic, crafty or creative. I love art and crafts, but prefer when other people do them and I can buy them. (Just less frustration and will actually look nice if someone else does it, etc). Well, for my work's team building event, the majority voted to go to claypen. Despite my lack of artistic skills, I was excited! Since there were about 8 of us, we called ahead and provided a small deposit to reserve our spot. Since its BYOB, (with no option to buy food or drinks at the studio), our group came prepared with wine, cheese, crackers, fruit, cupcakes and cookies. The studio area where we painted our masterpieces seemed a bit tight but it worked!! All of the pieces to paint are well displayed on large shelves with the prices. I loved how items ranged in size from small to large and there were so many choices! There was something for everyone and many of the items would be cute decorative items or had practical uses (cookie jar, spoon rest, etc). We were shown all the paints and told that the paint would appear as it was shown on the tile and not how it looked in the bottle (due to being put in kiln). We were shown stencils and different kinds of paint (love the speckled paint!!) I picked a large dog bone dish and then picked my paint. I found just sitting there painting to be therapeutic and so cool to have something to eventually take home (had to leave it to bake). I already have a date on the calendar to go back! I would highly recommend this to anyone!!

Went here with my fellow Yelpers for a fun night of mingling and painting pottery. This place is great for making hand painted pottery gifts for friends or yourself. We had 2 hours so paint which ending up being the perfect amount of time for me to paint a set of really cute owl mugs for me and the hubby. Your pottery is usually ready for you to pick up in one week. I will have to take pictures of the kilned mugs so 6ou can see the finished results. Would definitely like to get a group of friends and go again.

They have a variety of moleskin notebooks... but not exactly what I was looking for today. I talked to a lady at the front desk and ended up going with a hardcover A4 extended Leuchtturm1917 notebook. They have testers and I wandered around trying out different pens to make sure that nothing bled through the pages. I generally get one of these notebooks and it becomes my baby for a good year or so... and anyway I believe that it is going to work well. (I have been Moleskin-loyal for a few years now but the paper quality seems similar and thus I am feeling confident). I come here from time to time for XXL canvases, acrylic paints, and to get supplies for my fountain pens. I always seem to spend a couple hours here... whether I intend to or not! They have information about local art classes pinned right to the front door and for anyone who has leveled-up from (or is unable to find what they need at) Michaels, this is a wonderful place with fair prices! They often seem to have some kind of sale going on. I have a membership or loyalty card and I have no idea how much it saves me (or what the exact plan does) but they offered to set me up a good 5-10 visits ago and then continue to look up my account by my last name.

From the name, I was picturing something related to The Office, where they sell various types of high-end paper products. Additionally, I had recently watched a show based in NY, that had an actual store catered to writers, list keepers, etc. So I had expectations set. When I stepped in, I realized it was a Hallmark store on steroids. I'm not saying I was disappointed, just wrong. The store has many great items. Fashionable clothing, trinkets, gadgets, games, books, cards & feminine notebooks sprinkled in between. I did make a purchase & found some interesting items that I may return for later. In light of this, I feel bad writing what I came here to write, but: I found the staff intrusive. I was greeted when I came in, and asked if I was looking for anything special, which was fine. I said I was just browsing. But the same employee circled back to me several more times to say she liked what I picked out, suggested other things, etc. I wanted to say "Seriously, just let me look around in peace!" I'm sure she was instructed by store management to be helpful and friendly, but it was too much, in my opinion.

But there was a specific fabric I couldn't find at Ehrlich's so I had to go looking for another source. Mila had MUCH more fabric on hand. They also have a lot of fabric you can order - about the same amount as Ehrlich's, but different kinds. After spending months (literally) trying to find a specific fabric at Ehrlich's, Jo Anne's, etc, I found it in 15 minutes at Mila. The only downside to Mila is that the owner (I presume) lacks social grace and customer service skills. I found him to be pushy and incredibly condescending (and not just to me). I also had the distinct feeling he was rushing me and trying to avoid having to place a custom order. He's the type, you know, who is always right and you're an idiot. I hate those types!
