I am so grateful for the lovely staff at this location. As an artist, I spend a lot of time looking for supplies and I'm in Michael's both personally and professionally. Whenever I'm picking up an order for work, it's a breeze. The last time, I needed to pick something up. I was definitely cutting it a bit close and got there about two minutes before closing but they waited for me which was greatly appreciated. Absolutely the worst customer service. I chose "email receipt" after my transaction and never received it, in my inbox, trash, or spam. The manager promised that if I return, they can look my transaction up via credit card. I return two weeks later and they can't do it. Their system is broken. They tell me to call corporate, and I do. After being on hold for 40 minutes, I hang up. It's impossible to get ahold of someone. In the store, the manager and associate couldn't have cared less about helping me and kept brushing me off. They were so standoffish and rude. Never shopping at Michaels ever again. read more

It's hard to feel respected at this location. It's not uncommon to be paying cash at the cash register and have the person waiting on me stop and walk away from the register to answer a question from a fellow customer who feels entitled demands to disrupt my sale. If I'm at a cash register paying cash then the cashier should be paying attention to me until the sale is completed and not talking to other customers or employees . This store needs to implement employee training on how to keep the purchase line calmly and efficiently moving. read more

Michael's craft store is a teacher's heaven and hell. I've been purging my classroom in preparation for next year. I needed some new organizing units for each of the themes. I looked on line at a variety of retailers, Michael's had the best deal. I stopped by today, after placing the order on line. The store wasn't busy at all. It is pretty spread out, clean and very organized. There's everything here for your crafting and organizing needs. They have isles of just stickers. They have ribbon sorted by color, as well as paint, colors, markers, pencils, galore. There was an abundance of artificial flowers, however they weren't quality, you could tell from miles away they were artificial. Given that the summer is approaching, they had a variety of water and outdoor toys for kids to play with. Michael's has everything you may need for your classroom, or for entertaining your child. This store still makes me so happy. The sales are amazing - I'm finally getting some artwork up on my walls, and their 50% off framing sale gave me the push I needed to make a move. I've also gotten back into crocheting, so Michael's is currently my main source for yarn at decent prices (they have a lot of crappy quality yarn but you can wade through to find the good stuff). Decor is hit or miss but I can usually find a fun accent item or two. Somehow I can keep houseplants alive but tend to kill succulents and air plants, so I get those fake fake fake-ty fake at Michaels. I'm converting from an AC Moore customer to a Michael's loyal fan club member. After my last visit I am one happy customer. I never realized how much of a big difference Michael's was from AC Moore. I used to be a huge AC Moore fan but find they are filling their stores with crappy $1 items. Michael's is bright, clean and fully stocked with a variety of decent quality items. Tons of staff members restocking the shelves went I went that evening. The sales associates will walk with you and show you exactly what you're looking for. Best selection of Wilton cake decorating supplies. Way cheaper than party stores and the staff is amazing. Did I mention they offer classes! They have Wilton cake decorating classes for both adults and kids. I find their classes cost a little bite more than AC Moores. They offer some basic beading classes as well. I can't comment on the quality of those classes as I have not tried. I had a friend who took one of their Wilton cake decorating classes and she shared that she truly enjoyed it. I just can't stand the idea of having to do "homework". I'll have to wait for when I have free time. In my next life aka when I retire I want to spend all day making cakes and arranging flowers. I'm pretty new to all of this and I have to say the staff comes out and introduces themselves without being pushy. After going to multiple craft stores today I have to conclude that Michael's has the BEST selection of tips and kits available. The prices are the same as those of other craft stores. I believe when you're getting the Wilton brand they can't markup the items too much. Wilton isn't the best brand but for a beginner it works just fine. I'm not looking to becoming the a gourmet pastry chef so Wilton is what I will continue using in my kitchen and Michael's is who I will use to supply and replace my tools. The worst customer service I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing. My husband and I were looking to get a custom mat for our frame. The woman at the counter seemed to be hiding out of view until we made eye contact and she begrudgingly came to the counter. Every question we asked her was a major inconvenience to her. At one point she needed help and had to get the manager, who came to the counter and said "ok, what?" I was so taken aback I wasn't sure if she was talking to me or her employee. I really wasn't sure what to rate this store. Sometimes my shopping experience at this particular store is great. Other times, it has been pretty bad. This store is clean, and organized.. Except the clearanced section which is very hard to look through. If you grab one thing, you risk an entire shelf worth of items falling. It's just over stuffed. And that makes it so frustrating! There might be really good buys in the clearance, but I'm so afraid of hundreds of things falling everywhere just because I grabbed on thing, I can rarely look to see what they have. That's the only complaint I have about the cleanliness or organization of the store. The next thing about this store, (and possibly other Michaels stores) is their coupon policy! Sometimes they take all my coupons. Sometimes it's only one per transaction. I feel as though it depends upon the cashier. It's really hit or miss. For example, the other day, I went to Michaels and they had one coupon for 50% off one item at regular price and another coupon for 40% off one item at regular price. Both valid on that particular day. A friend had notified me of the coupons available and told me she was able to use both at the Michaels in Meriden, CT. However, on my shopping trip at this location, I was told they would only accept one. And I can say in the past at this New Britain location sometimes they have accepted more than one coupon from me (similar to the example of coupons above) and sometimes have not. (Which proves they CAN accept more than one, just sometimes they refuse to) I know they will accept coupons that are DIFFERENT, for example, 40% off any one item at regular price plus 20% off your entire purchase including sale items (although sometimes I have been turned away, being told one coupon per transaction even with the different coupons)... My point being, I really wish there was a clear coupon policy, universally practiced/enforced at all Michaels stores. Sure I could do multiple transactions, or come back on different days.. Its just annoying to know at some stores I could get really great deals, and others I get turned down. I'm not one of those crazy coupon ladies either.. I don't sit clipping coups and things like that, but Michaels has AMAZING deals with their coupons (check them out if you haven't) but good luck using them. Hopefully you get one of the cashiers that accepts them all no problem. Anyway, 3 stars because this really is a great store. Great variety of items, decent prices, amazing deals.. but the clearance section is borderline dangerous with how overstocked it is.. Things could fall and really hurt people if that happened. Worst customer service EVER. I walked in fully prepared to look for my items on my own, But I'd later find out that was my only choice anyway. Upon arriving there were about 3-4 associates gathered at a register. They all looked at me, not a single greeting. Cool. After scouring the aisles to find what I came for, I had one last item to scratch off my list. Swarovski crystals that needed to be unlocked by an associate. I asked ASHLEY's FAT ASS for help and she assured me she's couldn't help me but would "call someone". By this time Ashley is at the register by herself, her comrades are now gone in the wind. I stand and wait for at least 10 mins and no body comes. I remember that I had another item I hadn't looked for and decided to go and grab it. Thinking by the time I get back there will for sure be an associate. I come back and still no one. So now I walk over to fat Ashley at the register where she's helping someone and there's one other lady in line. I'm standing in plain clear view but Ashley is ignoring me. So I literally had to wait in line just to ask if she'd called soMeone which she again assured me she did. I go back to the aisle now, pissed af ready to let Lying Ashley have it. I wait another 10 mins before fat lying Ashley and now another associate finally approach me to "help." I'm pissed at this point, I don't want shit and I make that very clear by saying just that. We walk back to the register where Ashley is now ringing my items in, no apology no how was everything. Just silence from her day ass. Horrible customer service!! When you ask employees for help, they act like you are asking for a kidney or something! Sometimes you have to ask 2 or 3 people for help when you are looking for something. An employee can't be expected to know all the products in the store, but it seems like no one knows anything at this Michaels location. read more

Michaels is a great store. We decided to make a lot of decorations for our daughters wedding and Michaels had a great selection of spring flowers and other craft items. And we also had a 20% off coupon which saved us some money. As with most projects, we had bought a few items we found we didn't need and returned them with no problems. We also had to purchase a few more flower arrangements, and were surprised that they were on sale for 40% off. We inquired if the store offered price adjustments for previous purchases, as we purchased everything only a few days before. They said yes, and processed the adjustments. The evening manager "Cisco" was very helpful. read more
