I was looking for a place to help me with sewing a pattern. It has been years since I sewed…read moresomething from a pattern and was DEFINATELY rusty. When I searched I found this location in Glastonbury, I had only know Southington until I googled, well I can not say enough good things about the staff there. From the moment you walk in everyone is pleasant and happy to be there. I was very fortunate because it was Wednesday Maria was there to help me fumble my way through things. She even went above and beyond by 1) staying past her scheduled time & 2) when she really needed to go she made a little sample for me to follow with written instructions. I did not get the gentleman's name that was there but he was wonderful also. I am looking forward to the winter months for some of their classes as they do quilting classes and that is always something I've wanted to learn. So make sure to check out their website and classes.

Trumart is one of the best fabric stores in the city hands down. During my time at Parsons, I'm…read moresure more than half my projects (including my senior thesis collection) were made from materials I bought from Trumart. It's a great place to get cheaper synthetic fabrics for toiles but they also carry nicer fabrics like wool and silk for final projects. They're the only fabric store open on a Sunday (Because we all have those last minute emergencies right before a Monday morning class) and the staff is incredibly helpful and they offer a 10% student discount. There was once an emergency when I came in on a Friday and forgot my wallet and couldn't wait till Sunday to buy my fabric, but because I was regular customer they let me take the fabric and come in Sunday to pay. It was one of kindest gestures I've experienced in the city so huge shout to Trumart!

We just brought home two reupholstered dining chairs and four chair cushions for our four new…read moredining chairs. We used different fabrics for the two sets of chairs, old and new. We worked with Marsha, one of Imperial's designers, to choose fabric to complement our kitchen pieces and vision for (hopeful) renovations when the time is right. Marsha worked patiently and cheerfully with us, even as I changed my mind after putting a down payment on the work. I didn't expect her to have us back in for another consult, but she did, saying she didn't want us to just live with our choice, but to love it! I am so thankful for her "going the extra mile," as one of the fabrics she suggested ended up being lovely and perfect! And the finished product is amazing, with impeccable craftsmanship (I saw another reviewer used this very apt term, and had to repeat it!). This is the second job we have had done at Imperial. You can be sure you will receive the best of customer service and finished product! Joe and his team all go the extra mile to provide courteous, generous, and outstanding customer service and work. Thank you, Imperial team! :)

I asked the a lot of people I know and at work for recommendations and came up empty. So I searched online, came up to a great yelp review on Imperial Decorating. I decided I'd give it a try although I had an appointment for an estimate with another upholstery shop. After several emails correspondences, I finally drove to meet with Joe. Upon entry, I was greeted with warmth. My consultation with Joe was so great, I canceled my other appointment immediately. Fast forward to a few short weeks, my beautiful green sofa was delivered and I fell in love with it. Joe was meticulous about everything...the fabric selection, the nailheads and the cushions' firmness for my petite frame. Everything! I love that Joe was respectful of my budget. Lastly, I was beyond pleased with the delivery. I simply loved my experience with the team at imperial decorating and I would recommend them to anyone.

The quality of the fabric is phenomenal, but the real winner is the extremely affordable price. This is by far the cheapest store I've been to in the district. Muslin was ~4 a yard, nice poplins for ~6, etc etc. Honestly, if you're going fabric shopping, go here first, and if you can't find what you're looking for, go to other shops. This is the best price : quality you'll find, all the other stores are downhill from here. The only issue? It's slightly small, and you might not find what you're looking for. Go here open-minded with several projects in mind, and you'll definitely leave happy.
