There are ao many options available at Metro. Kashi is always wonderful to work with! If you are lucky enough to shop in the store, that $4 wall has some incredible deals! read more

Excellent service. The only store where they helped me pick out fabric for my project . Highly recommended. The salesman ( or owner, I'm not sure ) even stayed open late to help me. read more

Made an online order and came for the first time. Like walking into a textile wonderland. I wish I had more time as I wanted to ask about the walls of fabric selection...guess I'll just have to go back read more

How do I start? Located on the 9th floor of a building, Kashi is a delight to work with as he knows what is in the store from the second you tell him what you are looking for. His prices are also great as they are on point and even better than what some other places have to offer. He welcomes everyone from fashion students to seasoned professionals and gives them the appropriate advice to whatever the project may be. I would definitely recommend this business! read more

Super helpful! I walked in knowing the project but unsure of what exactly I wanted to make a muslin. 4 yards and $15, I'm super happy. Can't wait to return for final project fabric! read more

THE best fabric store in the garment district, hands down. It's located on the 9th floor in a massive ~20 floor skyscraper (a bit unusual for a fabric store), but ran by a very nice man. The quality of the fabric is phenomenal, but the real winner is the extremely affordable price. This is by far the cheapest store I've been to in the district. Muslin was ~4 a yard, nice poplins for ~6, etc etc. Honestly, if you're going fabric shopping, go here first, and if you can't find what you're looking for, go to other shops. This is the best price : quality you'll find, all the other stores are downhill from here. The only issue? It's slightly small, and you might not find what you're looking for. Go here open-minded with several projects in mind, and you'll definitely leave happy. read more

This small little fabric shop is located inside one of the massive buildings in the garment district. I went there to buy acrylic felt for a banner I was making. Unfortunately they did not have any of the colors that I needed. I wanted red but they only had it in a navy blue. The owner was super nice. He greeted me the minute I walked through the doors and tried to help me the whole time by suggesting other materials that might suit my needs. I ended up leaving empty handed but it's definitely worth a try. read more

YOU MUST VISIT METRO TEXTILES ON YOUR NEXT FABRIC SHOPPING! Kashi was extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the fabrics. It's on a building on the 9th floor! Make sure you don't skip it. Fabric prices very were inexpensive (compared to Mood right next door) I'm very happy with my purchase ! Will definitely come back here and referral friends. read more

I went yesterday for the first time thanks to a friend's recommendation. This place has every type of fabric, I was there for awhile checking what they had and I bought jersey, cotton, fusible and tule, 13 yards of fabric for $84 total, consider that 6 yards of the cheapest fabric would be $90 in Mood fabrics. So the process are very very good. Kashi attended me. He was the nicest and very helpful. No doubt I'll go back read more

Metro Textiles - Fabric Stores Near Me - New York, New York

I had to buy a piece of fabric to drape over my bookcase/tv stand to hide all the little things I have in there and I found Metro Textile Corp through Yelp - so glad I did :) I was planning to go to Mood Fabrics initially, but thought I would rush over to Metro Textiles after work (Yelp says they close at 5:30; I got there around 5:20, Kashi was helping a lady and I was out of there by 5:50) to see what they had first. I ended up getting two yards of fabric at $5 each yard (total $10) and it was perfect for what I needed! Kashi was very nice and gave me a hug at the end. They have a lot of fabrics to choose from and Kashi is very personable. The studio is located on the 9th floor, once you get off the elevator take two rights and go straight back. read more

Metro Textiles - Walls full of fabrics - Fabric Stores Near Me - New York, New York

First of all, the store is randomly located on the 9th floor, but you don't have to sign in at the lobby or anything, just take the elevator up. Turn right down the hall when you get off the elevator. It is worth your while. Listen, Kashi gives the hard sell. You have to put your game face on and be prepared to turn him down and break his heart just a little bit with every "no." But it is so worth it. The shop is tiny, yet somehow seems to have all the inventory you could ever need. Double knit? Available in every color. Wool coating? Traditional colors or a bright novelty weave, he's got you covered. Special occasion laces and sequins? Yep. Easy-to-sew poly knit prints? Sure, why not. Kashi knows his inventory intimately and will magically produce exactly what you're looking for when you ask for it. The prices are more than fair. Silks are around $12-20/yd, wools vary from $15/yd on up to $40 for an incredible double-faced cashmere. The poly knits are mostly $5 and cottons are also on the cheaper end of the scale. Kashi loves visitors, so if you ask really nice he might knock a couple bucks off the price of the piece you really, really want. Just drop by the store the next time you're shopping in the garment district. I promise you'll be hooked. read more

If you are looking for affordable fabrics this is your pit stop! It's inside of an office / multi purpose building, tell the doorman you're here for the suite room listed for the fabric shop, make a right turn around the corner and it's the far back room. The owner of the shop is quite friendly and helpful. If you have a vague sense of the fabric you're looking for and not for an exact match this is your best bet. Came here once looking for an exact fabric, pattern, color and they didn't have it. I happened to be looking for black power mesh and they luckily had it! I personally like fabric shopping in person and saves on shipping. Most fabrics here are $4/ yard, there was a pile of nice $3/ yard fabrics which they were trying to get rid of- some very high quality silk embroidery fabrics 10-20/ yard which probably would go for 40+ a yard. Will be back! read more

Great collection of fabrics. The people really care about their fabrics. Bought few yards of cottons for $7/yard, few yards of Italian rayon for $8/yard. They have decent poly crepe collection for $4/yard. read more

On a trip to NYC, I came to Metro to buy material to make curtains for my bedroom that i just re-decorated. I found the best material; I couldn't be happier. It was the perfect color, sheen, weight, pattern, width. The owner was the nicest most helpful person. I also bought some other material that will be great to embroider on. When I looked through his inventory, there were lots of really nice selections. I will definitely go back!! read more

Metro Textiles is one of my favorite fabric stores in NYC. Kashi is the owner and he is very gracious and accommodating to his customers. He will help you find whatever your looking for and his prices cannot be beat. I only hope he will be in The disappearing garment district in the years to come as greedy landlords are driving tenants out. Kashi also will ship your fabric for a reasonable price. This place is tops! Please visit him and you will be very happy! read more

Best Fabric Store In NYC!! Their prices and quality are the best. Kashi and Patricio are very helpful, they give you discounts and advice you on the best fabrics for your projects. You can find the same and even better quality fabrics than bigger stores for incredible lower prices. Since I went there for the first time I keep coming back every week and always find amazing variety of fabrics!! A plus is that Patricio speaks Spanish!! Super Recommended!! read more

Absolutely wonderful experience. My daughter wanted fabric to make a dress (just starting out) so I took her here based on the reviews. My goodness, there are a lot of fabrics! But better yet is Kashi, who not only immediately guided us to the wall of $4 fabrics (which are gorgeous) but also, gave my daughter pointers about which fabrics would be easier to use as well as provided cheerful encouragement for her to sew and design. Such an amazing experience all around and my daughter couldn't stop talking about how much she loved it there. Thank you!! read more

Value for the quality like I was shopping in China. Wholesale prices but open to public. High end wools and silks at cotton prices. Also stretch lace and interfacing. Owner was very helpful and eager yet patient. On the 9th floor near the corner and will definitely be back. read more

I visited this wonderful store back in March to get fabric for a jacket I was planning to make. I arrived about 45 min before closing but managed to find what I wanted, a gray denim fabric and a textured cotton. Both are beautiful fabrics, and my jacket came out wonderful. I believe it was Kashi who helped me. He gave me an extra 2.25 yds of the denim fabric because he noticed a small defect in the piece he originally cut for me. Being a beginner at sewing and clothing construction, I would have never known! I truly appreciate Kashi's honesty! The prices are affordable too especially for a new sewer who wants to experiment. My mother wants me to make her a jacket now too so I will be returning to Metro Textiles! read more

So I am not a fashion student or someone who knows their way around a sewing machine...or the difference between linens or chiffon! I am a bride who was looking for inexpensive table runners for her wedding- and was tired of seeing all the ABSURD price for table runners- that did not look/feel like I wanted. I walked into Metro- and the owner was amazing. I showed him a few pictures of the look I was going for and the different colors and my price range- (price was a big issue as I needed about 60 yards for all the tables) and he showed me a ton of amazing different/fabrics that matched. He was incredibly sweet, helpful and I honestly saved over $200 by going there. I also really liked this store compare to some of the other stores I stopped by (which were really intimidating) in the area- as someone who wasn't as experienced- other stores were a bit overwhelming (especially in type and price) vs Metro, where the owner was really helpful and understood the stress of planning a wedding!!! If you are trying to do any DIY wedding stuff that involves fabric- I would highly recommend visiting Metro! read more

nice and quite in here until the bus let off outside, and this small store was filled to the teeth with middle aged women looking for leopard prints. now that isn't fair, only one had a leopard print in her hands, the rest seemed pretty tasteful. Great place, great deals. 5 fabrics for $111, 28 yards total. not a bad haul! The owner said that he was going to call us when business got slow, as we are good luck. read more

Really good service here!! The owners were so helpful and they gave me a lot of little discounts here and there like giving me an extra half yard of the cotton I got and 3 free yards of lining for the 1 yd of wool I got. The $15 off is for purchases of $100+, but I mentioned it and they gave me $5 off my $30 purchase anyways. Good prices and really great owners! I'll be back :) read more

Helpful owner, cheap price (definitely cheaper than bigger fabric stores nearby.) What's not to like? One missing star is because the store didn't have the exact fabric we wanted, hence not "perfect" but close enough. The owner made a good suggestion for a substitute so we left happy. Highly recommended. read more

This store is fun. There are so many wonderful prints and the owner, Kashi, is so helpful and kind. The selection of prints and the quality of the fabrics are amazing. The prices are also the best I have found in the fashion district. Don't worry about carrying all that fabric home. Kashi is only too happy to ship it for you. This store is perfection! read more

I was kind of anxious to go here because of the Yelp reviews saying that the owner gives a hard sell... I hate feeling pressured when I shop and one of my least favourite things is pushy salespeople. However, he was nice and very helpful, and didn't push anything on me... I thankfully never had to put my "game face" on. I'm really glad I sucked it up and went in because I ended up with some pretty nice cotton voile for only $5/yd. It's hard to find prices like that in the city. The shop is small and stacked from floor to ceiling with bolts of fabric, so I'd recommend having an idea of what you want before going in as it's not really easy to browse. It was also really quiet on a Friday afternoon, especially compared to other stores in the area. I was the only customer in the store, but surprisingly I didn't feel intimidated or like he was watching my every move. Also, the building is not that shady... the entrance with the restaurant (which I heard actually has really good Spanish food) is the freight entrance. I got told off when I tried to take the elevators via that entrance. Two doors down towards 8th Ave is the front entrance, which is a little nicer looking. read more

Amazing customer service Walked out with more then planned and I couldn't be happier ...this will def be my new to go to place for fabric . From the min I walked in I felted welcomed I recommend this store to everyone read more

Metro Textiles - Picture doesn't do it justice It's beautiful in person - Fabric Stores Near Me - New York, New York

I have been working with Kashi, the owner of Metro Textiles Corp. for 9 years. His prices are the best and he knows his fabrics. He gets in great fabrics from Italy besides the basics. I can call him up and order over the phone. Most of us in the business go to Kashi's first before any other store in New York. I have taken groups of sewing students to his business and all come away pleased with their fabric selections. He will even mail their packages home. read more

The owner is wonderful and the nicest man! Due to a misunderstanding, my total came out to way more than I expected, but since he had cut the fabric already, he still gave it to me for closer to the price I thought it would be without me even asking. I love this little fabric store. It's not too overwhelming to browse through since it's small, and they have a good variety despite its size. The owner is so nice and attentive. His prices are already good but he gives better deals if you purchase more. read more

We are visiting in town. We found nice fabrics, got a lot of help, and our purchase is being shipped home.

Definitely a HUGE selection. The shop is a little hidden. There was no sign that I saw downstairs. I ended up having to ask one of the doormen for directions. This place is on the 9th floor! There are no price tags so the owner is free to make up the price. I bought a fabric that he said was a wool but when I got home and burn tested it, it melted so it was a wool blend with synthetics. Not cool. Also became scratchy once I dry cleaned it. Bring a lighter and ask for a swatch, burn test it outside to make sure it's what you want before buying. Also, since there are no price tags, don't forget to bargain! He's very good at selling you more than you need so be careful! read more

I've been going to Metro Textiles for 12 years now! Kashi has, hands down, the best fabric in all of New York City. I come to NYC a couple of times a year, and I make sure to stop by Metro Textiles every single time. The quality is excellent and the prices can't be beat! Also Kashi is one of the nicest people I've ever met. He knows so many of his customers by name and it feels like visiting an old friend every time I stop by. Thank you Kashi! read more

This store was amazing! Owner Kashi was very helpful. I went around 4:30 pm and it was not crowded. Fantastic selection of wool fabrics, coatings, sweater knits, double knits. Also all kinds of rayons, light to heavy weight ponte and single and double knits. Many linens, silks, chiffon, even a sequin on mesh leopard fabric! Shop is small and stacked wall to wall but Kashi knows where everything is that you want. Prices were very good and also slightly flexible. Highly recommend and I'll be going back! read more

Not exactly sure where all of these 5 star reviews are coming from, but maybe that's because I haven't had the opportunity to actually step foot in the store. I work as an assistant buyer for a big retail store on the LWS, and on 12/7 called Metro Textiles to inquire about some fabric for my desk and an older sounding gentleman answered. He was not very friendly and I could tell that he was rushing to get me off of the phone. I proceeded to confirm that the store closes at 5:30pm and the gentleman says to me, "No, we close in 5 minutes!!" and hangs up the phone. It was 4:10pm when I called... read more
