A friend of mine who has been teaching at UConn for years introduced me to Gansett. I was starving and craving a real meal; not the usual campus food like frozen burgers or chicken tenders sitting in old fryer oil, so he took me straight here. After the first bite of their mixed grill, I immediately understood why this is his favorite spot. This small shop can get busy, but it's well-staffed and efficiently run. The employees take pride in what they do. the cashier welcomes you with a smile, and the owner is always present, making sure everything is prepared correctly. The food is surprisingly delicious, and the portions are huge! definitely generous for a campus restaurant. There's plenty of seating inside, with additional tables outside. The ordering style is similar to Chipotle: you pick your base and sides, and they build your plate right in front of you. Smart and familiar. I come through UConn often, and Gansett has become one of the reasons I enjoy stopping by Storrs-Mansfield. If you're in the area, give them a try. I'm sure you won't regret it! read more

Another reason that Gansett Wraps is popular is the size of your order. These are not small portion sizes. What holds it back is the grilled chicken. Sure, they grill it in front of you and the grill marks are prominent. But the chicken comes out tough and dried out under this preparation and simply isn't the best match for the rest of their food. Really great choices here. Everything was delicious. I particularly enjoyed my beef gyro plate and lentil soup. The gyro falafel wrap was also very yummy. I will say the lentil soup was a surprise, I wasn't expecting Lentil and rice soup... I was feeling for a more traditional yellow lentil soup BUT this surprised me- it was very good and I was happy with my choice even though I expected something else. I was heading through UConn this past Saturday and wanted a quick and easy bite to eat for a late lunch and came across Gansett Wraps. Gansett has soups, salads and wraps. I highly recommend Gansett Wraps. It was easy to order online or in person, the service was great and the cleanliness of the location as well as quality and quantity of the wraps I purchased was excellent! I forgot to take pics of the wraps but they were sizable for the price. We ordered a chipolte chicken, Athena wrap (crazy veggie) with chicken and a chicken Gansett wrap (chicken and breaded eggplant). I did take pictures of the items used to add to wraps and salads and everything was high quality and fresh. See pics. We needed a bite before heading to a show at Jorgenson Theater (Song of the North- fabulous). Gansett had my son with the many UConn sports teams posters. I wanted something edible, but was surprised by the array of choices, including a number of middle eastern faves. I settled on a BLT wrap and falafel with tahini, and son found he could get a cheeseburger wrapped or on a sandwich roll. Vegan options were also on offer. The food was swiftly prepared behind a massive counter and we were gnoshing happily in a few moments. No table service, but good food made fast and furious. Perfect campus fare. I was looking for a healthy-ish place I can grab something g to go while I was in the Tolland area. I was leaving from physical therapy and was feeling hungry. This place is about 10min away from where I was. So I said why not?! When I first got there the menu felt overwhelming to me since it was my first visit. I ordered the grilled chicken wrap and a side of fatoosh. The wrap was fresh and great amount of protein. I appreciated that the chicken was warm and it made the tahini mesh well with the lettuce and tomato. It's not a typical flour wrap you would get to use on burrito. It's more of a very think pita wrap and it held up to the great stuffing it had. The fatoosh was delicious. Great mix of cucumbers, onions, peepers it's a must get! The total cost was $12. Totally worth the money and even though I live 30min away. Whenever I'm close to that area I will be visiting again! read more

I really like Gansett Wraps, perhaps even more for the fact that it seems to be filling an otherwise unmet need for the surrounding area than the food itself. The portions are huge here, which I always forget when I come in, resulting in me ordering an unnecessary side of fries. The fries are certainly good, but it's ultimately too much food for just one person. Great to share, though. The food here is fantastic. I have tried both a pesto chicken mozzarella wrap and most recently a gyro. The wraps themselves are really flavorful and the meat is juicy. On Wednesdays they have discounted falafel wraps, which I definitely need to try. I also really like how people with varying diet preferences can come here and be extremely satisfied with the meal - both vegetarians/vegans and omnivores will enjoy the selection. read more

Very clean restaurant with a delicious and clean looking work station with all sort of choices for your wrap toppings. While waiting for my order, which was very timely in coming, I noticed they toss the fries in a bowl for coating??? What the what?!?! Am I in French fry bliss??? Yes. Yes I am. My daughter order the pilgrim wrap which was yummy! And I don't even like cranberry sauce! I ordered the crazy vegetable which was cRaZy good! And then hand battered onion rings and falafel... I would try something different next time, and there WILL be a next time, although we enjoyed all we tried. The first thing which is great about gansett wraps is that it has healthy but delicious options, such as falafel which we've ordered lots of times and never disappoints us! The location of the store is great for many people living in mansfield or the other towns as it is in storrs downtown and is next to a square which you can eat on. Their food is exceptional and an okay price. My fav wrap is their BLT The flavors just popped in my mouth when I tried their BLT (Bacon Lettuce Tomato). They are very nice and there is a huge selection of wraps or there food to choose from. There fries are salty and yummy probably the best fries ever I've tried! Excellent sandwich shop with fresh ingredients and authentic wraps. I've driven by their location in Narragansett a million times without stopping by. We happened to be up at UConn and seemed to be the best dining option. I ordered a BLT wrap and it was amazing. Because this was a home made wrap, I had to get used to the taste.
