    Horseradish Dijon Boneless Wings

This was one of my favorite places as a UConn student, and on the rare occasions I'm back in the area I like stopping back in. Menu is way expanded from when I was in school, but I come simply for the wings. We all ordered a different flavor and split them along with fries and onion rings which were all huge portions. Will definitely come back next time on campus.

I took my daughter and her boyfriend out to lunch for a celebration. My daughter had just turned 21 and we wanted to have a drink. We ended up at Red Rock Café. We ordered from their lunch menu and had a Mediterranean chicken salad. I liked the amount of spice that was on the chicken. It was very good. My daughter had the cheeseburger sliders and she enjoyed them with french fries and actually had leftovers to bring home. Her boyfriend had quesadilla. He also enjoyed his lunch. At the end of our lunch we decided to have a celebratory shot and ordered shots of Bailey's. We enjoyed our lunch very much.

We are in town visiting my son at UCONN and we decided to give Red Rock Cafe a go. I must say the place was pretty busy. The staff is extremely is extremely pleasant, everyone we came in contact with. However as soon as you walk in, I did not get the greatest impression of the restaurant itself, excluding staff, restaraunt itself didn't give off clean vibes. But the boys wanted to try it so we continued on. The menu is very big and so much to choose from that you get a bit overwhelmed. I opted to have the chicken wings, they had 64+ flavors to choose from. I had the mango pineapple. It was good. The wings were juicy, tender, and you could taste the mango pineapple a little bit, and I'm content that they were not drowned in the sauce. My husband had a bacon burger without lettuce, tomato, onion and came out perfectly. The waffle fries are a bit greasy but no worries none were left at the end of the meal. My son had the same bacon burger but with all the finishes and he enjoyed his as well. The sodas though ... I had a ginger ale- disgusting! My husband and son both ordered cokes and each one tasted differently so we sent one back and now it tasted ok - the weirdest thing ever since it's out of the same machine / not sure if it's from dirty cups or what ! We opted to skip dessert.

I visited Red Rock Cafe on a Saturday evening and it was pretty empty because there was a basketball game going on. Despite this, we were seated next to the kitchen and counter where servers picked up the meals to be served. Our service was pretty quick, but the food was only okay. My pasta had too much salt, and the Buffalo chicken soup was absolutely disgusting and tasted like ketchup. The worst part of my dining experience was the atmosphere of my surroundings; the floor was dirty, and staff was sitting at tables right next to us sorting cutlery and talking loudly about their personal drama. I felt awkward having conversations with my dining partner and commenting on the food with the servers right next to me. When our food arrived at the counter, another server went to go pick up the food and our server yelled over to her, "she got the pasta and he got the burger", which felt highly unprofessional.

Nice place just off campus at UConn. It seems to be a local favorite place to go as it has been busy every time we come here. 20 min wait but it was move- in day after the holiday break. Once we were in and ordered our food, the meals came out quickly. 10 minute ticket time is really good especially with the place so busy. I had the special, western burger. Fried egg, onion, peppers and ham. Only complaint would be to have them fry the ham a bit before putting it on the burger. It was a really good bite. Also should have asked for mustard or mayo for a little more moisture and depth. We will come back again, hopefully without the wait, but it was good.

    Cheeseburger pizza

Order takeout on a Monday night, have had pizza here before and wasn't too impressed but decided to give them another shot and let's just say we will be done with red rock. We ordered the cheeseburger pizza and when we got home and opened the box we're extremely disappointed. The entire pizza was absolutely covered in lettuce. Pizza was extremely soggy and just overall gross. Attempted to give it a taste and literally all the toppings just slid off. Only positive I can give is that they gave me a refund of my money.

Tonight was my first time going here. We were seated quickly and the service was fast and on point! Portion sizes here are quite large! Which for a man like me that's always a plus! I got the Rhode Island calamari for my appetizer and for my main entree I got the fish and chip. Food came out really fast and taste amazing! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Just myself and a couple other patrons at far sides of the place. Bartender was playing waitress as well. Very nice but very casual. Opted for their fruit juice mocktail and the jammin burger with loaded fries. Food and drink came out quick, so I took my pics and dug in. The mocktail was pretty much orange and pineapple juice with a fruit garnish. It was fine for what you got, and the price was reasonable at 4 bucks. Nothing special, but something to sip on if you're with company. The burger was executed flawlessly. Cooked well, not seasoned but done so with intention. The buttered bun and jam were salty to begin with, so they chose to unseason the burger, relying on the condiments to balance the dish out. The chef has skill, and you can tell it by their preparation. The trouble was the quality of the ingredients. The burger is straight ground meat, pressed to a patty and frozen. The chef did what they could to gussy up the burger, but was working with ingredients they could not control. When they had control in the ingredients and preparation, they put in care. The actual burger patty was very much the biggest detriment to the dish. The fries were good, cheap cheese and bagged fries but ample amounts of toppings and cooked perfectly. Good, but there's evidence that there could be something better. As a chain location tied to a bowling alley, it's perfectly fine pub bites. The servers are nice, but I feel that the chef is constrained. If given the opportunity, the chef could produce some magic on the plates. but they are stuck to the playbook, the source ingredients and the margins they need to stay in. That cheapens the food to cookie cutter molds and is a crying shame. The foods acceptable, the staff is good, and the venue is clean. One day I hope they can shed the chain and let the chef take the wheel. till then though, it's okay

This is one of my favorite places to come for a celebration or just a regular day. The decor is always quirky and fun (giant paper machete figures high up - I assume from their Boombox Parade floats?), service is usually warm, friendly, and down to earth (the owner even came by to ask how everything was, which is a big deal in a building as massivee as this on a weekend night!) Their tap list is huge and I love to get a flight here to sample a little of everything - they offer both brews made in house and lots of local and not so local options to choose from. This day, I got the Willibrew Triptych Fruit Punch Sour, which went down easy and was fun to drink, the perfect amount of fruitiness while still having that sour tart punch. I tried my friend's Willibrew Choccy Stoot Chocolate Stout, which was a little more acidic than I would have preferred and a bit too light on the chocolate flavor for me, but still pretty in line with similar types of stouts. For food, I got the build your own burger with the vegetarian chicken patty, lettuce/tomato, pickles, cheddar, and their wonderful pesto aioli. I love that they've added so many more vegetarian options to the menu in the past few years - before that I did struggle a little bit and the Black Bean Dip appetizer was my go-to, but was not filling enough for a meal. The bun was fluffy and buttery and added to the sandwich instead of just being dry slop (which is what I think of most buns lol). This aioli is awesome and I want to dip absolutely everything in it, although the pesto notes were a little light on this day. For a side, I could choose from fries, mashed potatoes, or cole slaw, and went cole slaw to try to be healthy. I'm picky with cole slaw and actually really like this one - it's more savory instead of how a lot of cole slaws weirdly lean to the sweet side. It was crunchy and not too creamy or watery, just right honestly! I always love coming here and always try a new beer that I typically end up enjoying, since they offer such a wide variety and a good amount of sours (my favorite), stouts, seasonal items, unusual fruity items, and so on. I really should stop gassing it up so much because it does already get quite busy on some days, but I can't help myself - it's unique and unlike anything in the area. The lore, the history in the old post office building itself, the pinball machines and chalkboard in the bathroom filled with weird quotes, the funky artwork - they just all add to its character and the legend. Shout out to Barry if he still works at the bar and his awesome playlists - he gave the BEST service to my friends and I when we used to go hang out at the bar side regularly, he's the best and always made me feel at home.
