I've been to this Square Peg location before on a Men's Basketball game day and my spouse has been here for work lunches. Thus, this wasn't our first time here, but will definitely be our last. Getting a table wasn't a problem, as we were the third table to be seated in an otherwise empty restaurant at about 11:50 AM. Although we had a 5+ minute wait for the waitress to actually acknowledge we were waiting to be seated. After being seated, we watched as the two waitresses took orders, seated new arrivals, made drinks, and delivered food and beverages to all of the tables that came after us. We waited 30 minutes before we were able to get the attention of the waitress who originally sat us to ask if we could have our orders taken or even just some water. She wasn't having any of it and snapped at us that there were only two of them working the whole place and walked away. We waited about 10 more minutes of no service before we left and went to a restaurant that knows how to properly staff on a game day. Bottom line: Not Recommended. read more

Back at college, so I went to square peg pizzazeria for a quick bday dinner. A lot of students come here on the weekends, but I definitely think their strong suit is their dinner. It took a few minutes to be seated, but I think they were understaffed and it was a Monday night. After 5 minutes, we sat down, and our server took a few minutes to get to the table. I personally don't mind since I like a lot of time to look at the menu, and then put my food in all at once. The menu was a lot bigger than I expected, and they also had pasta. We came for the pizza though. My boyfriend got the calamari, which he said tasted fresh but could be better. We also split a caesar salad. This was a classic, the croutons were great. Solid salad. The PIZZA was amazing!!! Definitely a standout. hard to find good pizza near UCONN b/c of the fast food options, but this definitely solidified Square Peg as on top. I usually get take out pizza from here and most of the time it is nicely done. Today for the first time the pie (I ordered a large) the pie looks smaller. And when I order a large pepperoni I get a lot of pepperoni. Not so much today. Today I got cheated on the pepperoni and the size of the pie. Best pizza and pasta restaurant in Storres. We spent the day at Storres taking graduation pics and didn't expect much for lunch given it was off-season and all the students were long gone. Had a wonderful lunch with some drinks, except for the driver (me) 5/5 drink selection, drink quality, service and food. I had my typical shrimp salad, wife ordered a pizza for the table and daughter had a very good pasta dish. Great new place in storres plus the outdoor eating area is perfect. Unfortunately the first word that comes to mind is overpriced. Wildly overpriced. Last night we tried their Detroit-style pizza and I can safely say it's the most expensive pizza I've ever purchased. It was tasty, albeit too salty, but charging more than $30 for a one-topping pizza that only occupies half the footprint of a standard/medium-sized cardboard pizza box is certifiably insane. Also tried the wings with Peg dry rub seasoning. Tasty seasoning, good blue cheese. No celery included. No carrots included. The wings themselves were fine, nothing special - but not surprisingly, they were small. Among the smallest I've seen served locally. $16 for eight small wings? Ridiculous. $10 for FOUR boneless tenders? Come on. We won't be back until they rethink their pricing. read more

We were one of the first brunch visitors at Square Peg on a Saturday morning. The space is really nice and a good option to have in downtown Storrs. Solid choices for brunch pizzas and cocktails, with a few unique menu items like the "wacky" waffle with pesto and even spaghetti pancakes. I was curious to try a bagel from here because it's the only Square Peg location, and they informed me they only had a sourdough bagel with cream cheese left. It was ice cold when it arrived at my table, so I'm not sure if had been in the freezer, but I was definitely a bit shocked that it wasn't even toasted. I did also find a small hair in the waffle. We enjoyed our pizza the most. Everything arrived quickly, and we were in and out in under an hour. read more

Square Peg recently opened a location on the UConn Storrs campus and I am so happy to have such a great sit-down option available now! Our service was incredible, we received our food and drinks super quickly despite the restaurant being quite busy. Our pizzas were amazing, they were perfectly toasted underneath and the unique toppings were really good. The cocktails are also all fantastic and very reasonably priced. The sandwiches are the stars of the show, they were both so delicious and very filling. There is a lot of seating which makes it a tad bit cramped, but the decoration and open kitchen are both really nice. I can't wait to go back! read more

My daughter, my wife, and I have now eaten here three times. We love their house salad, and we love their pizza. Believe me, for me to say something about a house salad is saying a lot. Lettuce, onions, tomatoes, fennel, grated Parmesan, and a red wine vinegar dressing. My daughter and I have tried the margherita and the pepperoni, and my wife had had their gluten free dough for her pizzas, and they all have tasted great. The food has been consistently good. The service can be spotty. But the one thing that takes away from the experience is the volume of the music that's getting played. Deafening. Selection is good, I wish they'd play the whole song. We tried Square Peg for dinner a few nights ago and it was great! We had a small Bianco pizza and a small Chicken Bacon Cacciatore pizza and both were fantastic. These were thin crust brick oven cooked pizzas. The dough was flavorful and fresh, with the perfect amount of chew and char. The toppings were inventive, unique, and perfect. We will definitely be back! We had leftover Bianco pizza that we ate the next day and it was still tasty and non-soggy, a definite bonus! read more

It was crazy crowded and quite busy being post game from UConn men's basketball winning. It made for a loud yet fun environment and experience. You have to yell to speak to the person sitting across from you at the table. The service can also be very hit or miss. I can genuinely say I will never return. A few friends invited me to dinner here for my birthday and it was our first time trying. We were a larger party (8 people) but we had a reservation so we sat quickly. Our waitress was rude and very short. She did not ask if we wanted drinks, I had to order that with my meal but it did not arrive to the table until we asked someone else much much later. She asked if there was a birthday and everyone pointed to me and she said nothing else. I ordered a soda with my meal and it took 40 minutes and asking 5 other people to actually receive it. Furthermore, when the food began to arrive, my pizza was no where in sight. When I asked about they treated as if I was inconveniencing them or being dramatic. Eyes were rolled as if I was asking for too much but it was just the pizza had ordered at the same time as everyone else. All of my friends received their food and I waited an extra 25-30 minutes while they made my pizza. Because it was my birthday, my friends all wanted to wait to eat with me, this caused all of their food to be cold by the time I was served. I was genuinely trying to have a nice time and I feel like if the staff had been more apologetic and communicative about what happened with my food I would have understood. But I was treated like an inconvenience at my own birthday dinner because there were other customers (UConn basketball stars) that the restaurant staff demeaned more important. The cherry on top is that I am currently writing this review at 2 AM because the same pizza I waited so much longer for made me get sick (yes I know, how does this get worse?).
