There's a lot of nostalgia tied to this place, but the experience today feels like a shadow of what it used to be. The quality has dropped drastically. Service was, frankly, atrocious--slow, disengaged, and bordering on indifferent. The beer selection is still decent, but it doesn't matter much when every pour arrives tasting off. Whether it's bad kegs or hot glasses, the result is the same: lukewarm, skunky beer that's hard to enjoy. Food was another disappointment. Every item came out cold, and the flavors were on par with grade‑D fast food--bland, lifeless, and nowhere near the standard this place once had. Giving three stars feels generous, but it's a nod to the legacy Willibrew built over the decades. I truly hope they find their footing again, because right now, the nostalgia is doing all the heavy lifting. Ummmmm cheers I guess

The atmosphere and service were terrific. Expansive place in an old bank. Quirky, charming, and fun all at the same time. Loved the vibe - added to the excitement of having lunch. Server was terrific. The food: IF we ever go back I/we will get apps for the table only. Wide variety of options - all fairly good. They do no harm. Think airport or mid-level hotel restaurant. Appetizer portions (especially the nachos) gigantic. Clearly it's for the wow factor to distract diners from the 100% food service supplier, heat and eat options. Even all sauces and dressings come in the 2oz /4oz soufflé cup with the LID STILL ON. like we are literally in the airport. Wings to start along with nachos with shredded beef. The only wing sauce (we tried 4) that tasted like anything was their "Oy-Vey" which is hotter than their bottled, ready to serve buffalo. The buffalo, bbq, and dry rub jerk were tasteless, as was the blue cheese. The wings were medium size. Not the jumbo party wings that come in the 40lbs box. Nachos were ok. Good portion of cheese and meat. But the thimble of sour cream and tasteless pour from the bottle salsa were embarrassing But... if we were drinking and enjoying friends ... it would have been fine to soak up the microbrews, I suppose. Sandwiches were disastrous. One had the friend catfish sandwich, one the spicy shrimp wrap, and I had the farmers wrap/add blackened chicken. Portion sparse. Fries and/or onion rings mid-grade coated/cover the plate type. And I added coleslaw (maybe my favorite food on the planet) at our server's suggestion...the dry, tasteless cabbage set coleslaw back 50 years. KFC slaw is miles better (and I hate that). What ruined it was all sandwiches had the same "funk" to them. Each member of our table tried to identify in their own order, and sharing some of each others, what it was. The common denominator was the funky/carbon/dirty grease taste and smell that came from their grill (all wraps and sandwich bread/roll/wrap) was heated on it. It clearly was filthy. Taste permeated everything. They don't create/chef here. It's food service supplier "speed scratch" which is assembled in the kitchen. I know staffing is hard. I know no one wants to work (they do, however, want to get paid), but really really really disappointed based on reviews and menu. Best part, I asked for a small cup of oy-vey sauce as my tasteless wrap was so dry. Server said that she'd be happy to. But it would be $4 from the kitchen. Ummm... hard pass. Again, maybe phenomenal if you're a college student at East Conn. but if you're not drinking the food simply does not stand up on its own. Worst $178 with tip (with no alcohol) I have ever spent.

The sandwiches we've tried have also been very good, and even the Buffalo wings are tasty. House salad is an okay side, a totally ordinary plate of iceberg lettuce and cukes and green peppers. A palate cleanser. Bigger dinner salads and antipastos are also available, and assume are pretty good, based upon the quality of the other food offerings. The only place NEP&R falls short -- okay, two places -- is the service and the actual dining room. The dining area is wide but only a few tables deep, and the air-lock entrance way cuts the room in half. It can get very noisy, especially if you're seated near a table full of ESCU students, or a screaming kid whose parents don't seem to care (as on our last visit; when they couple left, we could hear people all over the restaurant saying "Whew! Finally!). There is a bar at one end of the dining room with a tv blaring crap. At times the staff seemed more interested on the celebrity profile show than on the diners waiting for attention. That said, they're really friendly. It's just that the don't really seem to be 100% on the ball on any of the times we've eaten in. It's frustrating when you can see the bar fifteen feet away, yet have to wait ten minutes for someone to pour a draft beer (which didn't even come filled to the top of the glass). And that house salad...how long can it take? Aren't these usually mostly pre-made, just toss a handful of lettuce on a plate with some veggies? We got our salad just moments before our pizza came out of the kitchen (and we know how long pizza takes). So, that stuff sounds negative. But really, this place has very good food! For that they earn four stars. One of the best pizzas in the area, if you like this style of pizza. If you like thin crust pizza, seek elsewhere. Highly recommended for take out. If this review was based only on the dining room experience, or the erratic service, it would be a iffy three stars.

LOL Tony's is a Greek Style, neighborhood pizza spot. I ordered a large red pizza with "Grinder Meatball", peppers and onions when I was about 15 minutes out. I arrived. I took some pics from the parking lot, and by the time I walked inside, they had just pulled my pizza out of the oven and boxed it. The transaction was easy since I had paid online. If you order this Grinder Meatball topping, which seems to be somewhat of a signature, DO NOT, freak out when you open the box and don't see meatballs. The onions and peppers are on top of the cheese. And they mix up the thin sliced meatballs with the sauce, and put them under the cheese. Given how they work the Grinder Meatball topping, my comments may not apply to all of Tony's Pizzas. First of all, I like this style of thin cut , almost wiry, white onion and green peppers. Good appearance. Good flavor. The crust was medium thick and pan-crisped. Fairly standard Greek Style crust. Also, I liked the cheese, but it could have been a bit more well done for my tastes. It was well melted. But there was minimal marbling on top, which I like. I liked the meatball topping and Tony's gave you a lot of meatball pieces. Here's the only thing I didn't love about this pizza. Because the meatball slices were mixed into the sauce and they were so generous with the meatballs, the flavor of the sauce got lost. I couldn't tell if the sauce was average, good or very good. It just wasn't noticeable in relation to the meatball flavor. I would recommend asking for a side of sauce and dip pizza into the sauce, or maybe add extra sauce to the pizza. I think the crust would hold up to that. This probably wouldn't be an issue if you got a cheese pizza or a pepperoni pizza. Tony's has a bunch of inside seating. I suspect families eat hear regularly. I was there early. So I'm not sure how busy it gets. If I lived in the area, I could see regularly ordering from Tony's. I bet they have good meatball grinders too. 4.25 Stars
