    Pepperoni Pizza, Meatball Pizza

These are the meatball and pepperoni pizzas from Trigo. These pizzas were very very well made with good quality ingredients. Toppings all meshed together and the crust was the perfect thickness where it's still crunchy but not overpowering. Seasoning on the pizza add a good kick. Atmosphere was lovely, not too overly decorated and had a simple look. The bar at the entrance is also super cute. Dinner during a saturday night was as much traffic as i expected, but not so much where we had to wait. Waitress was quick to attend and help pick pizzas!

Trigo is mine and my boyfriend's fav spot. It's such a gem to find in Willimantic as their pizza is so good and unique. The lemon pizza, focaccia and oil, and ice cream are my favorite things to get. In my opinion Trigo's better than even some New Haven pizza places :)

Fantastic food should be enough said but living in this area of Connecticut it's hard to find. Lettuce is clearly not from a bag and all their ingredients are homemade. I make the 40 minute drive to eat this food because I am never disappointed! I got their Margherita pizza and a shared Caesar Salad! Without flaw!

My Italian husband ate at Trigo with some friends and told us he enjoyed his pizza and we should bring our kids there next time. We finally got to check this place out. We ordered the meat pizza with hot honey, roasted garlic pizza, and korean bbq wings. The meat pizza was instantly devoured by our kids. We also liked the wings a lot. My husband and I like the roasted garlic pizza with miso crumbs. However, we find it a bit too salty. Nevertheless we enjoyed our eating experience and are happy that there is a harvest to hearth pizza place that we could go to anytime.

I am so picky when it comes to pizza and this spot hits all my buttons. Fresh, delicious, Wood fired... what more could you want? Cocktails are equally amazing and staff is happy to host you. A rarity now adays.

I worried about seating; the culinary event Taste 2 Towns was happening and Trigo was running a special. They do not take same day reservations and ask that you email them to reserve. Steamy windows obscured a good, but not capacity crowd. The bar looked very impressive. The decor was rustic romantic. We ordered three pizzas, one each - half of which became a lovely breakfast the next morning. Meat, Meatball, and Pepperoni all tasted superb, with just the right amount of char. Nice selection of wines and craft beer, two blazing ovens and a fellow tossing the pies in front - definitely a delectable date night!

I went on a weekday evening without reservation. I didn't get a seat. Or rather there was more than an hour of wait. I decided to take out pizza. The pizzas were very innovative. Lemon pizza had real slices of lemon in it. Lemon slices were bitter tangy, but still edible. The cheese topping with pizza makes lemon tanginess a delight. Nightshade was my other pizza. It was mostly eggplant and pesto sauce. Its aroma was so strong, even before you open the box, that is the pizza you feel like having first. But the pesto sauce is slightly milder than the aroma would suggest. Still that is a good vegetarian pizza.

If you're looking for a trendy atmosphere in Willimantic. This is one of the only 3 trendy restaurants in Willimantic. (See Stone Row and Tacos a Mano). This one has me excited for months. Wood fired pizza?! Finally. To get good pizza I have to drive out to Brick and Basil in Yantic or get Big Y pizza which is surprisingly good but missing that char that can only come from being truly wood fired). Anyway, I digress. So let's start with the positives. Cool ambiance. Glad to have a new, clean restaurant on Main Street. Good table decor and overall very picture worthy. The menu is on the small side, thank goodness. None of us are missing pizza shops with 6 pages of mediocre attempts at Italian food. Now... we decided to start small. The meatballs to start and the signature lemon pizza. I'll come back to these. We usually like to try a new gin or whiskey cocktail from the menu. But we glanced over at tables around us and saw ridiculously tiny cocktails. I'm talking what i suspect to be a 3 oz pour in a 4 oz coupe. The big guy next to us looked like a giant holding his martini which I'm pretty sure he drank in 2 sips. His wife slowly sipped her $9-12 martini to make it last. To me, a former bartender, this is inexcusable. But instead of venting further I'll say, my husband thought their selection of local beer was quite satisfactory. And it came in an actual pint glass. Hooray! Our waters were also miniature and the server needed to revisit us many times to refill. But that's neither here nor there. Back to the meatballs. Decent presentation. 3 meatballs in a small crock. The marinara was good. The cheese was good. The meatballs were grey and tasted, well, grey. They're the meatballs you get at a bridal shower and don't complain about but you certainly aren't asking for the recipe. The pizza came. Okay guys. This part is truly mixed. I had to talk my husband into trying this pizza. And he was on the fence and asked the server, "are you sure the lemon isn't bitter? Even the rind?" After assurances we ordered it and I was ready for his mind to be changed by this innovative menu item. It came, nicely charred, and we took our bites. Don't let the lemon artwork on the wall sway you, the lemon rind is still bitter and unsettling on pizza. I was wrong, we didn't stumble on the next big thing. But, the crust was perfect. Whatever lemon juice, honey, chili pepper combo was on it was really, really good and carmelized perfectly. But every bite of lemon was, well, like eating a lemon. We had the house made apple upside down cake which was very okay. It was underdone and doughy. But kinda worked. Tasted like a spiced apple cookie dough. The two cherries on top were like luxardo cherries or something. Super quality cherries. Anyway, have you had enough of me yet? Here's a picture of my cute husband enjoying our date.

They have a dining room that seats about 50, and a bar that seats around eight. They also have a very cute outdoor seating area covered by a large awning. The menu is Continental cuisine leaning toward Italian, and is very well balanced where everyone should he able to find a satisfying meal. Our experience began with a couple of very unique "East Side Martinis", vodka, cucumber, muddled mint and lime.....so good I had to have a second one! We were then treated (gratis) to the absolutely best bruschetta I've ever eaten.....loaded with chopped tomato, onion, and garlic. Fantastico! For an entree I had the Maple Glazed Pork Tenderloin Medallions with mashed potatoes and braised cabbage. A perfect melding of complimentary flavors. This restaurant clearly has no issues with making very flavorful choices when it comes to spices and accents. The wife had the Chicken Special with fettuccine and lemon butter white wine sauce that was also very flavorful and excellent. Everything was so good that we had to get dessert, a slice of Almond Joy pie to go. The owner, Sue, a baker / chef, is typically in attendance, and has heen running the restaurant for ten years now. Our server, Jen, was attentive and experienced. They have a Happy Hour on Monday through Friday 3 to 6 pm. I'd highly recommend this place for everyone! UPDATE: Ate the Almond Joy pie the next day. The crushed almond & chocolate crust was incredible, and the chocolate glazed coconut was delicious.

The owner at first appeared very friendly and accommodating, unfortunately the visit shortly became chaotic. The owner became over talkative and extremely rude. One of my friends understandably became upset about the owner's manic behavior and decided not to participate in the tasting. The owner then became belligerent and started talking about my friend in the third person as if she was not even in the room. She said to us her three friends "oh never mind about her being upset, that's just the way some people are", or words to that effect. Then the owner stated "I haven't done anything wrong. " I attempted to diffuse this situation without success. The owner just became more manic and unpleasant. During this whole situation my friend, who was very distressed by the owner's behavior, remained calm and quiet. We ended the tasting as quickly as we could, bought our wine and left. Sharpe Hill Vineyard does have very good wines, l however will never visit their tasting room again for fear another offensive interaction with the owner.

The restaurant is in a sleepy little corner of Glastonbury in a tiny strip mall. The inside is decorated well and it's a very pretty space. The single waitress was handling the entire place herself. She got me seated after a short wait. She was very polite and helpful, offered recommendations and was always available but was very busy. Opted for linguini in vodka sauce with meatballs, and the crème brûlée. Food came out after a short wait. Took pics and dug in The pasta was not boiled in salty water. Pasta consistency was slick and firm but not crunchy. Either overworked fresh pasta or dried, I'm not sure which. The vodka sauce was one note, lacking any depth. It was a creamy tomato sauce and really needed seasoning to punch up the flavors. The meatball was dense, lacked any seasoning or flavor. They were cooked and warm, just not much going on beyond ground beef. The Marinara was actually really good. Balanced, sweet but not overly acidic. The quality showed in that sauce. The crème brûlée was very good. Little bit boozy due the gran mariner on top with the caramelized sugar. Creamy and light on the vanilla but the perfect consistency. The best bite of the bites. The garlic knots and cappuccino were okay. Nothing fancy there, but functional and good enough. The server showed concern when I didn't eat much of my entree. She offered replacements, which I declined. The hospitality was great even with her being as busy as she was. Price was high, coming out to around 45 bucks for the pasta and meatballs, cappuccino, and dessert. It was a lunch on a Monday, so not expecting the best. But the price was a bit much for the quality provided. I can see glimmers of greatness here. The server and the dessert were great, but their entrees leave a bit to be desired. As an Italian restaurant, it has the perfect ambiance and service expected for an elevated experience in that area. The foods a bit lacking, but if you go for the location and the service then you'll do just fine.

We just tried it for dinner. The restaurant is small. Just 3 booths & about 4-5 tables. They don't take reservations, which wasn't an issue when we went on a Sunday evening. For both lunch & dinner, you get delicious garlicky rolls. We tried the burrata/fig appetizer- so good with the fig jam & balsamic vinegar glaze. Tortellini carbonara was very good as was the special of sole franchise. The servings are large and we took leftovers home. I had an expresso martini with Baileys- good & very frothy. They do have lunch portions until 3:00. At lunch, our friend had the pizza which looked very good & crispy. I had the eggplant parmigiana (took half home). So good! Service was so nice & attentive. I believe they also do takeout. Glad we found Amicis.
