Food is excellent...if only the service could be up to par with it...but they probably dont care since the owner doesn't either...a complete service failure was sent to their attention requesting a call back but no follow up. Actually we eat here more often than we would if there were a better alternative nearby. The challenge is that is it not as consistent as I think a restaurant should be. The portions are generous and fairly priced. It really is comfort food. Sometimes it is very good, other times it is 'meh' and occasionally rather disappointing. A restaurant does not need to be great for me to be a regular, but it needs to be consistent. Specifically when I order a menu item, I expect it to be almost the same as the last time I ordered it. Don't misunderstand, I have been disappointed a number of times but it has never been awful or I would not eat here as often as I do. Two 'awfuls' and I never return. Most of the things I've tried have been okay or better more than half the times. It it were always as good as the best I would eat here very often!! It would approach great for what it is, rustic atmosphere with generous comfort food. My only serious nit to pick is it is cold in the winter! Most patrons eat with their coats on. I won't eat with my winter coat on so when I was there two days ago I had to go out to the car and get my sweatshirt. Disappointing. I almost left and went elsewhere but it was getting dark and there a few options nearby. Even sitting right next to the fireplace it was barely tolerable. The service has always been good if a bit slow. The servers are pleasant and attentive. It is the kitchen that seems slow and sometimes very slow. Again, not slow enough to give up and in fact probably in keeping with the atmosphere. Try it, you'll probably like it. If not, try it again, but not thrice. It doesn't improve much. read more

Always enjoy our meals drinks and service here. Stopped in for lunch one day for drinks and something to eat. In the shareable section they had nachos so we ordered them to share. The plate was huge and stacked high. It was enough for at least five people we ended up taking more than half home. We stopped in again on Thursday late afternoon and found out that Thursdays are taco night. I ordered the taco salad which was excellent. The taco shell was packed full with a lot of beef lettuce and tomato. I ordered mine without onions and jalapeño. Checking their menu out on yelp it didn't show the taco Thursday menu out so I added it to my review for other yelpers to check out as well as a few pictures of my taco salad. I brought my 89 year old MIL to meet her 89 year old cousin for their birthday lunch. Roberto's is halfway between their houses. I had a gluten allergy and saw that the menu had many gluten-free options. My MIL uses a walker and has trouble with stairs. She was disappointed to see there was no ramp to get into the restaurant. There was a grab bar but only on one side and was still difficult for her to get into the restaurant. But she made it. The interior is plain. Not much decorations and can get pretty loud with a large lunch crowd. The 80-year-old ordered margaritas. The frozen margarita maker was out for service so they had margaritas delivered in pint glasses. I ordered the chicken piccata with gluten-free penne. There was a lot of food. It was OK. My MIL had the shrimp scampi. She said it was very good, but was disappointed to see the shrimp still had the tails attached. It was difficult for her to eat. Her cousin had a cheddar burger. It was very big, cooked as requested , and she loved every bite. We had chocolate pie for dessert and I had a GF strawberry shortcake. It was a treat to have a gluten-free dessert! TL:DR - My experience was not good but maybe yours will be better. I was driving by and got enticed by the smell of their BBQ. I pulled in and first impressions were two fold: the parking lots needs lines redrawn because people just parked wherever and however, and the entrance is not immediately obvious. The entryway and waiting area are very log cabin, and you can tell from the well apportioned waiting area that this place can get crowded. If you're tall, look out, I had to duck more than once and definitely to get into the dining area. The dining area, unfortunately, really left the aesthetic behind and was simply white walls and ceiling. It felt like a cafeteria more than anything. All that blank space cries out for murals, log paneling, something. The dichotomy was striking, to say the least. My service was excellent, very friendly and attentive. Because I went on a Saturday, despite being lured in by the smell of the BBQ, I opted for the prime rib, medium rare, mashed potatoes and vegetable, with six wings Carolina sauce to start. Of note, there was no table bread of any sort, though the salad for the meal came out quickly. In fact, the meal pacing was on point. The wings were fine, nothing to write home about and not worth the price on the menu. The biggest failing was the entree. The carrots - flavorless, most likely canned sliced carrots that had sat in flavor leeching water for too long. The potatoes - flavorless as well. Butter, salt, and pepper later they were fine. Prime rib - cooked to medium well, it was tough like a pot roast. There was no rind to speak of, which left the au jus lacking robustness. Also, a little sweet, which I don't understand that trend. Did I finish it all? No, because I went to use the restroom mid-meal, making sure to ask the server where it was so she knew that's where I'd gone, and came back to a cleared table reset for the next patrons. Why do I say your mileage may vary? The BBQ I didn't try smelled excellent and there were many other options on the menu as well, so they may have areas of expertise I am not aware of. read more

This is a very nice restaurant. They have a good size private parking lot. Enter by the bar on the left, or restaurant on the right. There is a large waiting area and coat rack at the restaurant entrance. Restrooms are between the bar and dining room. Bar side has a short bar to sit at just inside the door. They offer several beers on tap. A number of hightop tables are past the bar and around the corner, plus there is one long upholstered bench seat. The restaurant side is booth seating along the walls, tables in the center and a huge fireplace on the back wall with high ceilings. The menu is pretty big and offers apps, sandwiches and burgers, entrees, seafood, Italian, mexican, american. It's a mash-up. Their 'pasta' page uses the word 'al dente' in place of 'pasta' but the pasta my husband got was so over cooked it was literally falling apart. That should never have been served to a customer. If you are calling your pasta section 'al dente', you need to follow through on that expectation. The sausages smelled great and there were enough for another meal. The serving size is huge (see photo). My NY strip steak was excellent. It came with a side salad; romaine lettuce, red onion, cherry tomato, croutons with choice of dressing. Also included with the meal are two sides. Choices include baked, mashed or french fried potatoes, veg and coleslaw. The vegetable offered during our visit was fresh, boiled, sliced zucchini and it was cooked nicely; slightly firm. Very pleased with that. Fries are crunchy but the oil was probably ready to be changed. We would probably return except for the loud country music that played throughout our visit. If it were on a mix that included a few other styles, that's cool. The droning on and on of endless country music does not lend itself to a pleasant dining experience for us. Our waitress was excellent. My food was prepared well. Prices seem fair. Dining room, booth, flatwear, restrooms: all clean. We had an event in Lebanon, CT. and before heading back to the hotel, we stopped into Roberto's for dinner. It was packed on a Saturday night and ended up having dinner at the bar which worked out just fine. Chrissy waited on us and she was fun, bubbly and took very good care of us. Mr. B. ordered the half rack of ribs as they claim best ribs in Ct. He said they were good, not great and were not very tender, but there was no meat left on the bones so they must have been just fine. I chose the Eggplant Parmesan. Great choice, but good heavens, it was enough to feed a family of four from one plate. I barely made a dent, but each and every bite was scrumptious. The spaghetti was perfectly cooked. The eggplant sliced thin, breaded well and the sauce over the top was thick and flavorful, with lots of cheese melted on top. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Lebanon is such a little town, but if you find yourself in the area, I think you definitely find a delicious meal at the Log Cabin. read more

My wife and I stumbled across this place while out for a ride a couple of weeks back. Honestly? It may look plain, ordinary and totally unlike all the typical chain restaurants, but therein lies a hidden gem in all aspects of a family restaurant. Good food, good people, our waitress was exceptional and even the owner himself stopped by the table for a bit and personally brought out our meals to us (actually named Roberto) The Fried Clam Strips, Fish, Shrimp & Onion Rings weren't greasy at all and I couldn't even finish the stuffed baked potatoes .... and the salad was generous and fresh. Prices are very reasonable as evident of at least 60+ people there at dinner time on a Thursday evening ... so yea, it's busy so just accept and embrace that idea before stepping in the door. There's no quiet ambiance and no annoying music playing, rather simple conversation and laughs with family, friends and the occasional gleeful outburst of a young child just having fun and showing off for mom, dad and anyone else looking over with a smile. It would be difficult for most any child to embarrass a parent so don't let your kids hold you hostage to take-out options only. Do yourself a huge favor and take the family out for a visit or even roll solo and slide up to the bar where everyone is welcome and friendly. Our waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable on food and drinks. She patiently answered all of our questions. The beer selection offered the normal fair plus seasonal beers. The food menu was very large with items for everyone. Standard American menu. The dining area was large and rustic as you would expect in a log cabin. Parking lot was huge. They have a split restaurant with dining area and a tavern side. We opted for dining on this visit. We started with garlic bread and mozzarella. For dinner, I ordered one of the more popular meals by recommendation the - BBQ ribs. We also ordered the baked cod dinner. The food was all very good with large portions to boot. My wife and I showed up here after enjoying a local agricultural fair. It was about 9:15 and they close at 10. Our greeting was friendly and welcoming. First things first, the portions are massive! The price is a little higher because of this, but you don't go home hungry. The Gigantic plates of nachos coming out from the kitchen gave me pause. The food was good, not stellar but prepared well. Pasta was just done enough, sauce was good and the spice level was good. Didn't get a lot of shrimp, but about a shrimp cocktails worth. They were cooked properly though so it was a good change of pace. The prime rib was tender but lacked any seasoning. Her parents are older, so they don't tolerate spices well and that worked for them. But I would've expected a bit more salt and pepper. The French onion soup was good as well. A lot of cheese and bread, not a ton of onion. It was good to try but a full bowl would have been a bit much. Overall, it's a great little spot to get a big meal at a good price. Unfortunately wasn't super impressed with my visit. We came in the middle of the week, and there was a wait for a table, which was odd cause it wasn't super busy. Service was good once we were seated. We ordered mozzarella sticks for an appetizer. They were alright, tasted like they were probably frozen though. For entrees I got the great American grinder and my friend got the Mac and cheese. The grinder was pretty standard, not bad, but nothing special about it. My friend thought the Mac and cheese was just OK. It had listed on the menu it came with bread crumbs, which it did not, and she said the flavor could have been better. However, we noticed they had homemade ranch they served with salads, wings, etc. which was delicious. Definitely a lot of potential, maybe we just ordered some not so popular items from the menu. Let us commence by dispelling one rumor that has circulated for far too long in the Windham, Columbia, Lebanon and Bolton corridor. No, the Log Cabin is not the birthplace of our 16th president, however the rustic building does date back to 1933 and there is a Hallway of History that serves to link the dining room and tavern. We were attending my sister-in-law's birthday celebration which coincidentally fell on St. Patrick's Day. My wife and I were the first to arrive so we directed our feet to the tavern which initially seemed overly dark. With 19 beers on tap and another 16 available in bottles or cans one might expect me to agonize over my choice of refreshment, but I came prepared having checked out the offerings online. My choice was a pint of Blue Point IPA while my wife settled on the house Chardonnay. Both served their purpose and were reordered later during dinner. After several minutes we were encouraged to join the family who had begun to arrive. Orders of Irish nachos (waffle fries topped with white cheddar, Swiss cheese, chipped beef and thousand emerald isles dressing), Reuben eggrolls (stuffed with corned beef, Swiss cheese, and cabbage with the same dressing) plus boneless Buffalo chicken wings were brought to the table. I found both the nachos and eggrolls to be good while I cannot comment on the wings because a few piglets wolfed them down like ------ piglets. Entrees included a few healthy choices as well as a corned beef dinner special, but my wife and I each settled on the weekend only prime rib dinner which included a baked potato, house salad and mixed vegetables. I questioned the server on the prime rib's arrival because it looked well done, but he assured me it was in fact medium rare and indeed it came within the length of a horseshoe of being so. Apparently, and I am only guessing here folks, the prime rib is sliced and then allowed to rest in au jus until served. The meat was flavorful and portion size proved to be more than ample so our dog will be enjoying leftovers for the next few days. Consider setting your GPS for Lebanon the next time you are in the mood for a scenic drive in the country coupled with a nice meal. I have been going to this restaurant my whole life. When it was uncle d's it was the go to restaurant in town and always consistent. Over the last few years this place has really fallen off. I like to order take out from here because of its location to my house and convenience. A few weeks ago I ordered take out and of course when I got there it wasn't ready, understandable but still annoying considering it was about 5 pm and they were not busy yet. The worst part is the owner took the order without taking my name or providing me a number. I accepted the wrong pizza and they provided a discount which I appreciated. Most recently I ordered take out on a Friday night and was told 45 minutes to pick it up. When we got there 45 minutes later they said it wasn't quite ready yet and would be out soon mind you the parking lot was only about 50 percent full. Now that their takeout window is outside if your food is not ready you're at the mercy of Mother Nature! It was cold and I had one of my young sons with me. We stood by the window for 20 more minutes before receiving our order and didn't even receive an apology. During that time I witnessed a live mature cockroach climbing around on the roof next to me and falling in the gutter and eventually down the downspout on to the ground. This was particularly disturbing and because of these issues they will no longer be receiving my business and I will be sure to tell all my friends and family to stay away as well. I've heard some stories over the years about their cleanliness but seeing the cockroach trying to escape was the icing on the cake for me! GROSS! read more

If I could give a zero - I would. We live down the street from Roberto's and have tried them 3 times, each time ordering something different. Hoping we'd find the one item that keeps this place open. Most of the time the food is completely cold. My baked fish was frozen in the center. The pizza was soggy in the middle. The French fries with our sandwich were absolutely gross. You know the mushy fries you got in the lunch room during school. I know this place is busy because it's the only restaurant and the only restaurant in Lebanon that serves alcohol. I've been going here for years and it's always been a great place to go get dinner when you just don't feel like cooking!! I've always had great experiences with the staff and the place has always seemed clean and comfortable. Over the many times I've visited, I've only had a few misses food wise, so I firmly believe those were outliers. Their chicken parm is delicious and has huge portions. The hostess ignored us and eventually a waitress to our drink order. There was background music which was loud and when we asked that they turn it down, they turned the volume up. Not once but twice. At that point we decided to leave but wanted to speak to the manager first. We were then told that the manager was too busy to talk with us. Some of the worst customer service I have ever seen. The Log Cabin is exactly that. A rustic treasure that pops up out of the woods and takes you to a feeling of simpler times. It's also a place where everybody knows your name - meaning filled with locals and friendly people. (There aren't a lot of visitors passing through this remote location.) And all of this lends to the charm. It's clean. The food is good. It's reasonably priced. The beer is cold. That's good enough for me. The bartenders were super friendly and great, btw. I recommend you give this place a try if you're ever in the neighborhood. As log cabins go, this place lives up to its billing nicely. read more
