So, when I clicked into Sally's website, I was bowled over to see they now have SEVEN locations with ELEVEN more on the way, including Garden City, NY and Boca Raton, FL. That's pretty impressive. Sally's thin crust New Haven style pizza is a state treasure and I've always enjoyed it wherever I've had it. And today, I had a few slices of their fantastic pizza in a new location for us -inside the West Farms Mall near Jordan's Furniture of all places. Our lunch experience was great, starting with Bianca...our exceptional server. She was so outgoing and attentive, and checked back on us three times without ever being intrusive or an annoyance. We had a simple lunch, splitting a salad and a ten-inch pizza. The Wedge Salad ($14.75) was a big portion of three big iceberg lettuce wedges, charred tomato, Grana Padano cheese, crispy pepperoni, red onion, and a creamy Italian ranch dressing. We decided to skip the grilled bread croutons. What a nice salad! Super fresh lettuce, tasty tomatoes, a healthy sprinkle of pepperoni crisps that reminded me of crumbled bacon, and a great creamy dressing. Our 10" pizza (also $14.75) came with two toppings and we added meatballs and onions. It was thin crust New Haven style perfection. The sauce, the cheese, the cardboard thin crust, the toppings -everything was great. Late in our meal, a young father and his son came in and sat down in front of us. The boy seemed to be 5 or 6. Bianca impressed me again with the way she interacted with the boy, engaging him in conversation, and just being so nice and sweet with him. Well done, Bianca, Well done, Sally's. read more

Been hearing so much about this New Haven style pizza that I had to go try it! Although I know this is not the original Sally's, it was still decent. It's a location was a bit weird since it was next to some furniture store in a mall. That being said, as soon as you go in itI felt like walking into a typical sports bar. They had some decent beers and drinks, and a giant screen. Service was really good! They were very attentive and we even asked about whether we can buy a slice of the clam pizza and they actually brought a full one out free of charge! Thank you food gods! Food overall was good! ++ Arancini's were excellent. They make them in house. Crispy yet not dried out. A slight kick to them probably the highlight of the meal. ++ Meatsa Pizza was our favorite of the 3 pies. Nice and thin but stacked with yummy meat. Perfect! + Caesar was good = Veggie pizza was ok. It was our healthy option. You could taste the crunch of the veggies but maybe needed a little more salt. = Clam Pizza was ok. I wish the clam had more clams. Second time here. First, the space itself is really nice--I love the atmosphere and all the TVs. That said, my most recent visit was pretty mediocre. I completely understand that the bartender was busy, but an $18 "Sonoma" dirty martini that was only half full was unacceptable. There was almost no olive brine, which was especially disappointing given the price. Also, look how small these olives are!! This was my first time trying Sally's Apizza, and since I've never been to the original New Haven spot, I was excited to see if the hype was real. I went with the classic cheese pizza to start. Even with the signature charred edges--which I know is part of that authentic New Haven charm--the flavor was excellent. The menu is surprisingly varied, offering everything from salads to full dinners and a solid drink selection. The atmosphere is high-energy, too; the restaurant is surrounded by Jordan's giant TVs, making it a great spot to catch a game. After I left my last review I was contacted by the wonderful manager Brett at this Sally's location. She was prompt in reaching out and encouraged me to give Sally's another try. My husband and I went back last night and had a far better experience. The food was excellent and the portions were more reasonable. This experience matched the price and quality. Instead of boxed pasta, Sally's is now making homemade pasta and it's notably better. I am obsessed with their vodka sauce. We also enjoyed calamari and the spicy meatball pizza (not spicy, but full of flavor). The servers are always friendly. On top of that, Sally's had a deejay last night so the atmosphere was lively. Went to Sally's on Friday. I went in with lower expectations given we're far away from the original New Haven location. That said, it was a very nice and new environment. Very sports bar oriented with TVs and projection screens on the main wall. Everything was clean, and service was pretty good. The staff was very polite. For it being focused on sports, the volume level was fairly moderate. We ordered off the lunch menu. Very reasonably priced. We got a chopped salad and a small pizza with two toppings. The perfect amount of food. The chopped salad had a lot of flavor. The chickpeas were very well seasoned. Not too much dressing, which can happen with these types of salads The pizza was thin and crispy. Very crunch crust. I liked it a lot. Got pepperoni and Italian sausage. The only thing I'd flag is that the sauce is basically crushed tomato and not a true marinara. For this reason, the sauce was a littttle watery and thin tasting. Didn't seem like they seasoned that. Would definitely go back. Good food, great value read more

This pizza place is set up inside of Jordan's furniture at the West Farms mall. The location has cool set up with monster screens and several TVs. It felt like a cool sports bar not a Sally's Apizza. Unfortunately that is the good part of this review. The pizza is not up to par with the original Sallys Apizza on Wooster St. The service although well intentioned was not the best experience for us. We ordered a large pizza and a small pizza for five people. The server was aware that the pizzas were not intended for all five of us. Small pie for one couple and large pizza for the other three at the table. The large pie comes out at least 20 minutes before the small pie. So we ate our pie before the other couple saw their pie. To managements credit they did comp the couple a free pie coupon for next visit. We did not order alcoholic beverages so I cannot comment on the bar. They do have a bar at the location. Sorry no pictures for this one. The large pie portion did not come close to filling the huge tray it is served on. read more

Great pizza, nice waitress, only strange thing was the length of time it took to get our 2nd pizza. We ordered 2 small pizzas for 3 of us to split. First pizza came out after a short wait, then the second pizza didn't arrive until at least 40 minutes later. The waitress stopped in a few times and said the pizza would be out shortly. People who arrived well after us got their food while we still waited for our 2nd one. No clue what causers that mishap. We will try this place again though. Pizza is identical to Pepe's. Apparently, there is a New Haven feud over who makes the better pizza, Frank Pepe, or Sally's? For years now my family and I always stop by the Frank Pepe location in Manchester whenever I'm in town but this time we went in a different direction entirely and I'm really glad that we did because this was great pizza. I can't tell you which one I like better because they're both good in their own way, but Sally's sauce is unforgettable. It's slightly sweet, and no acidity at all. That crisp when you bite into the pie makes you want to dance in your seat. Their salads are also amazing. I know you normally think of salad as an afterthought but it's a really hearty, and delicious salad they make here. Our server Jonathan went above and beyond, very attentive and informative as we told him this was our first time at Sally's. The ambiance of the restaurant is a 3 for me. It gives off nightclub vibes which I'm personally not a fan of as its dark and they have music playing. It is however conveniently located in the mall so if you end up having to wait for a table as we did, you can shop around until they text you that your table is ready. Looks like Sally's is going to have to become a new tradition for us. I'm anxious to try their pastas being that their sauce was so good. read more

Really enjoyed the pizza, atmosphere and service. Walking into the restaurant I almost forgot I was in the mall. I got a glass of the house Cabernet ($10) and the cheese pizza with pepperoni, basil, hot honey and whipped ricotta. It was a delicious combination! The pizza comes is pricey. A recent time at Sallys shows that a restaurant is more than just food. I mean the pizza here is just about as good as the original (a little lacking in the "char" but not too noticeable). I loved the Pepperoni and mushroom pizza. The white clam was nearly as good. But the service was lacking. After our first pizza appeared from a runner, Our waitress disappeared. 5,10,15 minutes went by. I asked the host about our second pizza and within a minute it appeared from a runner. Since a small pizza doesn't take over 15 minutes to cook, it made me wonder: did I our waitress forget? Alas a few minutes later she appeared. No explanation. No real apology. And no water refill either. Add to that they didn't really focus the TV on live sports (they had on an old college basketball game on one of the big screens) and you just had an experience that felt impersonal and lacked oversight. For Sally's which has first rate pizza, it shows you still need the service and environment. Otherwise, takeout. read more

The pizza was fantastic, I'd say it stands in a category of its own league. I'm from RI home to where neighborhood pizza parlor growing up was in walking distance. Some of what I thought were the best but, New Haven sets a bar to the rest of the pizza communities. The 100 year old coal fired oven alone was an amazement that is of days gone by. This is the reason for the perfect thin crispy pizza and charred crust. The taste did not disappoint but was so yummy! Every bite was as delicious. That tomato topping was a home run from this gourmet gal. The wait really stunk seeing we stood in torrential rain , no where to stand, while others patiently waited under umbrellas getting soaked! Only bad thing. Parking is also a bit of an issue. Our server Sam was beautiful and just as sweet! She made sure our drenched selves were warmed up and fed and made to feel welcomed and appreciated. Was visiting my Mom and my Sister told me to try Sally's Apizza at W Farms Mall. Nice atmosphere for a mall joint. Service was friendly. I got the Calabrian Stinger small pie. Delicious! There's a lot of debate in Connecticut about pizza -some even say it is the best pizza in the United States. This was not the best pizza in the United States or Connecticut for that matter. All I will say is, Frank has always had my heart. Food The food at Sally's was great, especially the crust on the pizza--it was perfectly crispy and chewy. Plain pepperoni, perfecto. I also ordered crostini topped with apricot and whipped ricotta and Calabrian honey, which was a delicious and unique combination. The chopped salad was another highlight; it was fresh and flavorful, with garbanzo beans adding a nice twist on texture. Drinks For drinks, we had lemonade and an Arnold Palmer. Unfortunately, we did not love the drinks. Next time, I'll just go with a Diet Coke- listen to your hearts, boys and girls. Ambiance The vibe at Sally's was really cool! A cool feature was this little circular display with spinning graphics at the door. The TVs were almost too big to see for where we were sitting, but it would be cool from the second floor of the mall (where you don't eat?). We sat at the bar on a Saturday night to watch some basketball. It's not what I expected for a layout.. it's a long skinny dining room with a crap ton of large tvs. Ordered the broccolini, Brussels, and a regular pizza. Portions a good, but be prepared to wait for your pizza! One of the bar tvs is poorly placed right behind a pole. Also, the shorter bartender with dark hair, tattoos and long eyelashes literally did not even look our way once. She was the main bartender while another gal did table cocktails. Definitely lives up to the hype, one of the best pizza's I've had in CT and looking forward to going back. We started off with the Caesar salad (recommended by our amazing server) which they do a little differently here as there are pickled onions in it but it adds a nice sweetness and tang to the rich dressing. For our pizza, we got the Calabrian stinger in the small size which we shared between the two of us. Wow, this pizza is exactly what we wanted; spicy and sweet from the hot honey and peppers. But somehow with so much going on on top of the pizza, the flavor of the tomato sauce really comes through. Incredible. There are plenty of seats in this casual open dining area. Im really excited to right this review because I have been to Sally's in new haven , Sally's in Wethersfield and now Sally's at west farms ! And I might get a lot of hate for saying this but I personally think my experience / and the food at Sally's In Wethersfield and west farms were better than New haven ( just my opinion) The atmosphere is just much better there are plenty of tables , lovely music and fantastic service ! This was my first time however trying their happy hour menu ! And in my opinion it was absolutely fantastic! We started with the aperol spritz and it was very good! Often times aperol spritz is on the bitter/stronger alcohol taste ( for me) , however Sally's had the perfect balance ! Next we ordered the garlic bread which was amazing ! Highly recommend . The calamari came with two dips ( marinara and a spicy dip ) . I have eaten a lot of calamari and personally this was one of my favourites the calamari was not dry and perfectly battered and the sauce was fantastic ! Moving on we ordered the Crostini with apricot and hot honey as well as the tomato/basil crostini ! And personally this was my favourite dish out of everything we ordered ! Both absolutely delicious and I don't even like apricots/hot honey ! Finally we obviously had to get the pizza ! I ordered the Pepperoni/sausage/bacon pizza . The crust was great thin and crispy with a little char to get that Smokey flavour ( but not burnt) ! The only thing was the bacon was slightly under for me ( where as I prefer my bacon crispy )! Decided to come here for a late lunch after doing some shopping. When you walk in they have big screen tvs along the wall with sports channels on. You have to go all the way around to where Jordan's entrance is and you can enter the restaurant from there. We were greeted right away and seated quickly. Our waitress was kind and patient with us. Just because we weren't sure of what we wanted. I wanted to try everything of course. But we choose a pizza with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, basil and garlic. My husband had the chicken parm and I had the eggplant parm. Oh, and for appetizer we ordered the calamari. The calamari came out pretty quick. It was good. I loved how they had the jalapeño peppers with the calamari. They had two different kinds of dipping sauce. I stuck with the marinara for the calamari. Our pizza came after that. It was good. Next time I don't think I would get the garlic on it. It wasn't what I thought it would be. I thought that the garlic would be sliced or whole garlic. But it was just minced garlic. Didn't have much cheese on the pizza either. Could have put a bit more on it. The eggplant parm was delicious as well as the spaghetti. You could also taste a little spice in it. I put Sally's place in my top five for eggplant parm. Not bad. Try them out I think you might like it. read more

The pizza is AMAZING! You literally think your in New Haven. Super thin with ton of flavor. We did the clam and very delicious. The chicken parm was great too, not over sauced, breading just right and chicken moist. Good balance, the meatballs were okay, moist but not much flavor maybe some garlic and fresh herbs. I ordered delivery from Sally's Pizza in West Hartford and was pleasantly surprised by how good everything traveled! Fried Calamari - Crispy, golden, and not rubbery at all. That's a big win for takeout seafood. The portion was generous and came with a zesty marinara that actually had flavor (not that watery stuff you sometimes get). Would definitely order again. Fried Mozzarella - Classic and comforting. The breading stayed intact, and the cheese was gooey but not greasy. It had that nostalgic Italian-American feel, like something your Nonna would approve of if she had a deep fryer. Garlic Bread - Soft on the inside with a slight crunch on the crust. Garlic flavor was on point, but I wish it had just a touch more butter or maybe a sprinkle of parmesan. Still a solid sidekick to everything else. Service was horrible without excuses. Waited over an hour for a small cheese pizza. My family was seated around 12:30pm and the pizza did not come out until 2:00pm. There were at least 5-7 other families that came in after we ordered ours and their pizzas came out all before ours and left before we even were told are pizza was coming out soon. Literally ordered one small pizza. We decided to leave as our children were hungry from waiting so we took the pizza to go and it was burnt when we opened the box. This is the second time this has happened to us. Management also blamed the waiter instead of taking accountability as the waiter is not making the pizza. The pizza didn't have much flavor. Compared to other pizza places tried recently, including one of Sally's main competitors, Sally's didn't rank very highly unfortunately. While out shopping, me and my friend decided to check out the new Sally's. This was my first Sally's experience and I still have to make it to New Haven for the original. But this location is closer to me at the Westfarms shopping mall by Jordan's furniture store. The vibe when you walk in was very "bar-sie." TVs were mounted on the entire wall playing every single sports game/ channel on one side. The other side was an open kitchen and the actual bar with high top seats. The middle of the restaurant consisted of booths and tables. To start off we tried the meatballs with the pesto ricotta and sauce. 3 meatballs came in the appetizer. They were pretty small but were good. We had a ceaser salad as well to share before deciding on what Apizza to order. We went with the recommendation of our waiter. He suggested the burrata and basil pie which was mainly sauce. The fresh basil gave it some flavor and I liked the chewy crispy crust from the coal fired oven. read more

First off, the staff was great, no issues there at all. Friendly and attentive. That said, as a Connecticut native who grew up on Sally's in New Haven, I have to be honest: this location doesn't live up to the name. The New Haven original is the best, and even the Fairfield location does a very good job. Unfortunately, the West Farms Mall spot feels like a poor facsimile. The crust, sauce, and overall taste just aren't close to the Sally's standard.
