good food but i literally ordered my food at 12:00 am and did not receive my food until 3 in the morning. unacceptable in my opinion because there's no way dp dough takes 3 hours to deliver on campus. read more

This was better than I expected--crunchy, cheesy, and perfectly cooked. I really appreciated that they offer a budget-friendly late-night snack, especially since I was staying across the street at the Circle Hotel. I ordered the personal cheesy bread with extra sauce, and it did not disappoint. The bread was perfectly seasoned, and the sauce was delicious with just the right sweetness. I loved the look of the place from the outside--it's vibrant. I stay in random cities around the Tri-State area, and this spot stood out. It was a pleasure chatting with Nick; he did a great job. My order was ready in five minutes. This place is truly a late-night diamond read more

If I could give it 0 stars I would. I ordered it at 5:00, it's now 8:00 and nothing. I've called 3 times and each time I've been hung up on.

Dumbest place ever. Had a full order for the deal of 20$ for 4 calzones. Placed order at 9:00. Just got called at 12:30, THREE AND A HALF HOURS LATER, to be told that they were too booked and couldn't do my order. I blame the owner of this franchise for assigning too much labor for its workers that they clearly couldn't meet the expectations of in a college town. 0/5 if I could. No problems with the workers, everything to do with the owners being idiots. Made me stay awake a week before finals week for this disappointment. Never ordering again. read more

Calzone was good wings were a little small so if you want wings get a larger order. Overall food was great. Not much to say about service or ambiance as food was ordered via grubhub and delivered. read more

I came back here for another visit. Not looking at my previous reviews to see what I had, the previous 2 calzones I reviewed about were ordered again. They were the chick 'n bacon and danger zones. See previous review for similar thoughts on the chick 'n bacon zone. The danger zone was filled to capacity this time around (see previous review). The only issue with this specific calzone was the lack of taco seasoning present. One half had plenty of it while the other half was not seasoned at all. The hamburger meat was rather plain on that half, but besides that, solid. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to find a calzone place near UConn that offers vegan options since there doesn't seem to be many veg options around campus. Last night I picked up the vegan time zone calzone (which has daiya cheese, peppers, mushrooms, and onions) it was a little too cheesy for me which is rare for me to say since I usually like cheesy stuff. It just felt like it was missing something too. If they offered vegan meat like vegan sausage or meatball then it prob would've tasted much better, but I still appreciate them just offering dairy free cheese. The real winner here was the cheese stix. I got the vegan version and it was really tasty. I haven't had good cheesy stix in a long time so my tummy was definitely happy with this. I would for sure go back for it again next time I am up there visiting my niece at UConn. They also have a fairly big parking lot that is shared with other restaurants. I went on a Saturday night, but didn't have any issues with parking. read more

Customer service was incredible! The employees were delightful and kind during all business transactions and even struck friendly conversation with me while I waited on my food. While I was there some old customers came in and started getting aggressive with the employees but they remained professional and polite the entire time, even in spite of one customer yelling, leaning over the counter, and attempting to record the employees without their consent. 10/10 will be returning :) read more

Owner was rude and had an attitude and no customer service skills. My order was sitting there behind the counter for more than 30 min because no one called it out. Now I wasted over an hour on this delivery and the persons food is probably cold read more

Went inside to place my order I was in the area the girl said it would take 1 hour because they were busy it was 7pm. I noticed a man working the food prep area and seen him put a hand full of something in his mouth from the prep area. Thought that's odd he touched his face and mouth and continued working. I went outside to my car came back into the restaurant at 7:40 asked the same girl how much longer before my order was ready just checking in. Girl said it would be ready in 1 hour. At that point I asked to speak to the manager she pointed to the guy I seen putting food in his mouth from the prep area when I got there at 7. I asked him to come to the door way to talk maybe there was miscommunication or something the guy said "I'm to busy I don't have time " so I got my money back and left. I'm a older man not a college student when the students leave ous local people saport small restaurants like this maybe I should have not gone there and went to domino's pizza and got treated better and got food in a timely manner read more

DP Dough calzones are amazing. Crispy outside, chewy crust. My favorite is BBQ Chicken Zone: BBQ Chicken, BBQ Sauce, Bacon and Cheddar.

The best calzone you can get for under $10. DP Dough is open later for all your late night needs. My go to is the chicken parm with jalapeño ranch to dip in. A good second choice is plain cheese with hot sauce. Regardless of what you get you can't go wrong & they have a million different options. read more

Great food most of the time but they are dumb as hell. I ordered the speed zone cause it was the calzone of the day and it was a few bucks cheaper. Don't eat chicken as much anymore nor do I like spinach so I got rid of those on the website order. They called back and told me I couldn't order the calzone of the day without all the ingredients. Da f**k? I'm getting less ingredients and the rest of the other ingredients stayed the same. At the end of the day I cut it open and got rid of the things I didn't ask for. It was some good bread, sauce and barely any cheese .....for $7.....thanks dipper dough. read more

I had always heard about DP Dough being one of the best places on campus and decided to try it on a cold, rainy, stressful (bc of school) day. I ordered the Chicken ParmaZone (8.75) and Cheese Stix (7.25). The Chicken ParmaZone comes with chicken, mozzarella, parmesan, and marinara. It was so good and instantly made my day better ! One calzone is more than enough, it was very filling and delicious! I've also ordered the Cheese Stix which comes with mozzarella, parmesan, and Italian seasoning. This order was also super yummy and filling. I loved the marinara!! If I had to order one item, I would go with the calzone! They do special deals on certain days which is awesome for college kid budget haha! I can't believe it took me so long to go try this place, I highly recommend it, it's an easy 9/10! (I was trying to sneakily take pics of the store, and in doing so didn't realize the worker was looking right at the camera so ignore that). read more

All the YASSSS QUEEN you can imagine. This is the best drunk or sober fast food on the UConn Campus. I spent my college years eating the Coach Jim Calzone and it is magic. I even travel back with friends just to go to DP Dough. Delicious! :D read more

I decided to order DP Dough for my daughter's 17th birthday party, with 12 of her friends in attendance. The party was on a Sunday night. To make sure I gave them enough notice, I ordered online 2 days prior, on Friday. I even followed up by phone after I placed the order to add a special request because I had people with certain dietary requirements in attendance. The person I spoke to said no problem to my request (indicating that she was aware of my order). Secondarily, I received an email confirmation of my order. Imagine my surprise, when the time for delivery came and went, with no food arriving. I called the store to ask about my order and was told they were not aware of my order. In their defense, they put things in motion and was able to deliver my food in about 35 minutes from my call, but at the end of the day, the food was an hour later than I had requested. The only compensation I received was the delivery person gave me back the tip I had originally put onto the order. I wrote a note to the corporate office, which oversees all of the stores right after this incident happened and to date, more than one month after the event, I have heard nothing. Wow. read more

UCONN's DP Dough is a sight to behold, especially late at night. Please order online/by phone if you aren't into having your order taken by drunk gynecologists (still wearing his scrubs) or an interior that looks like it was set up an hour before. Despite the shitshow that the physical location of this place is, their calzones are really good, and their daily discounts are great for people with a limited budget. Delivery is always quicker than projected and I can't recommend DP Dough enough. read more

This place is ridiculous! After 30 minutes on hold, I was finally answered and my order was taken before being rudely hung up on before even being told my total. After waiting an hour and a half for my calzone and my daughters calzone and I took one single singular bite and found a green long nasty hair in my calzone that was definitely not mine because I have brown hair! If I could give them zero stars I would literally so disrespectful on the phone and so disrespectful when delivering. The only saving grace was that the delivery guy said have a nice day to me. I hate this place and I will never be ordering from it again, nationwide from any location ever read more

Ordered delivery one night at the office. Calzone was brown and wholly unappealing looking. Just a brown blob. Stuffed with too much mozzarella. Greasy and lacking flavor. The 'roni consisted of four, maybe five, flaccid pieces of pepperoni. The "boneless wings" are barely glorified nuggets. I've had better from the frozen section of Wal-Mart. Delivery was prompt and the delivery guy was nice. But the meal was a complete waste of money. Don't bother. read more

If you are a huge fan of calzones, maybe this is a place you want to go to couple time a week, but for me, this place is slightly over priced even for a fast food restaurant. Out of my several visits, their calzones were all nice and warm. The quality is consistent through out the year. Didn't even change much even if had order one at 2:30 am. However, the wings were cut a very poor figure compared to wings over Storrs and wings express nearby. it's more expensive relatively. And there are limited options. The worst is that they just don't taste as good compared to the other two. So 3 stars for a place where only calzones are worth trying. (In addition to its timely yet sometimes messy service...blah blah blah) read more

My wife and I got lucky on Food Frenzy and got large enough coupons to get a free calzone from DP Dough. I was happy that it was free. Dough was tough and hard to chew and the filling was sub-par. They deliver late night at the University of Connecticut and target that market. For late night food - it would not be bad but if you are looking for something for dinner or lunch - I would head somewhere else. read more

Due the lack of restaurants that delivers near UConn, DP Dough is often my choice for late night meal before exams. For those who don't what a calzone is (I didn't until I came to UConn), it's a type of pizza that's folded into a bun-like shape. Instead of cheese being on top, they serve as fillings. Pro: Always timely delivery (~30 minutes - 45 minutes). The steak calzones (Oh-zone or School Zone) is usually my go to, but sometimes I like to make my own calzone (construction zone) to spice things up. Con: Although, I like DP Dough very much, their wings are a bit on the downside - too dry, chunky, and flavorless. Verdict; If you like calzone, you will love this place. If you never had a calzone, you will love this place after trying a calzone from them. read more

* Many, many visits! I may be D P Dough's biggest fan..! ~THE GOOD - THE CALZONES!!! Endless combinations, but I usually get the meatball calzone - my favorite! The dough is always soft with just the right amount of crispiness and chew. . ~THE BAD Take-out only. Weird hours. . ~THE UGLY Can be very crowded late night. . ~BOTTOM LINE Loses a star because they changed their marinara sauce... which is erally an integral part of the calzone-eating experience! It used to be REALLY good - thin and sweet. Now it tastes like thick, acidic tomato paste. read more

Solid calzones for reasonable prices, especially if you get the rotating $6 "Zone of the Day." Outside of the calzones, the food isn't great. I got an order of cheesy tater tots and they were very mushy coarsely chopped potatoes. They get creative with their calzone options and you really can't go wrong with them. read more

Dat DP Dough doe... a classic for all uconn students. The calzones are great, especially the Roni Zoni and Spinner Zone. Other than calzones though I would not order anything else. Recommend going on Wednesday's when they sell 2 for $10, or maybe it's more now... read more

It appears that some of the people who have reviewed this restaurant are a bit unrealistic. One person ordered over a dozen calzones, then shorted the driver on a tip because of an error that had absolutely nothing to do with the driver. Another person holds expectations of a fast-food restaurant that are equivalent to a nice, formal establishment. THIS IS FAST-FOOD, the prices are more or less equivalent to that of McDonalds or Burger King. You can get a meal here for five dollars. Granted, the food is not amazing, but it's tasty, and it makes for a good snack now and again. Plus, there's a big assortment of calzones, so they really do offer something for everybody. read more

Never heard of this place before driving by one time while in the area. I had no idea they were pretty close to being a national chain. I see why - I love the concept of this place...a lot (*googles franchise info*)! The description is kind of hard to explain but I can tell you that their location is most appropriate. This location is smack in the middle of UConn territory, but I guess that's how their business model works. The target college kids. And the food is a perfect match. This place is known for its calzones. They've got a boat load of choices. Things you wouldn't think of... There were at least 30 different combinations on their menu for calzone fillings and they custom make them in request too. I also saw dessert and other non-calzone items on the menu. Anyway, I got two "zonies" which are half-sized versions of their full calzones. One was called the Buffer Zone (hot sauce, chicken, mozzarella, and bleu cheese) and the other was the BBQ Steak Zone (steak, barbecue sauce, mozzarella and american cheese). Both held their own and were served hot. I saw them make them to-order which is always a good sign. The flavor was there and their portion size was respectable. I felt the BBQ steak one could've been a bit less dry if their was more sauce or something dropped in but they did serve both with a side of marinara. There is no place for dine-in eating inside of their section of the indoor plaza and I was freezing my butt off the whole time I was waiting because they left the back door open. But this is not a place you go to for the ambience and decor. This is where you go when you have the munchies or want something that tastes like pizza but is not pizza. They are "open crazy late" according to the signs in the building and that means 2am is the earliest they close during the week. I definitely would come back here if I'm the area to try some other options off their extensive menu. This place gets a thumbs up from me... read more

I haven't lived in Storrs for almost 4 years and I still miss this place. Best calzones ever.

So I've been waiting a hour and twenty minutes for food (still isn't here) called the restaurant to see what was going on and was greeted by the rudest manager I've ever talked to in my entire restaurant career who hung up mid conversation^^ the food just got here and wasn't even cooked all the way with completely solid cheese^^ Sorry 'hun' but you've officially lost my business. Honestly though, the wait? stuff happens. The food not fully cooked? Could very well be a bad night for whoever was preparing it. But where I draw the line is with the extremely unprofessional manager; I don't know who she was or even her name but heads up hungry people I'd give zero stars if I could read more

I am a local... With college children ... So we order from here a lot. Wellllll, we TRY to. You see, they are never open. They close for most of the summer, then they close if it's too hot.....or if The moon shines brightly into the horizon while bees are awake? Who knows! But you def cannot say to someone: "hey, let's get together friday-we will order do dough and hang out" They just may not be open...:/ I guess that is a luxury they can have in a college town. Anyways, if they are open, the calzones are good! The mac daddy and the chicken parm are favorites in our house.(the two stars is reflective of the operation, not the food!! Food is more like a 4) read more

Eh. I went to D.P. Dough with some friends, so I got to taste multiple calzones in one trip. Each one was just ok, on the lower spectrum of the sense. I got a calzone with breaded eggplant and the breading was mushy. I will say that the marinara sauce was good. I probably won't go back since there are better places to eat in this area. read more
