All Around College Drinking Hole Legendary college bar on the UCONN campus. Cold draft beers for cheap, hard shots, and they regularly have live music. Food is out of a warming oven. You stop at this place to douse yourself with body pickling liquids, eat a reheated piece of pizza, and maybe watch a sports event. Ted's knows what is and delivers that to the customers. I will say for a college bar, the bartenders were very attentive and great drink pourers. We were in there during graduation and never waited for a drink. My friend and I went here last night and were very disappointed with the behavior of the bouncer. We left the patio area only to have a blond bouncer try to grab our drinks out of our hands. I managed to hold onto mine while he grabbed my friend's and tossed it. I clarified what he was doing and he was very rude, just responding "the law". I totally understand rules around open containers but a sign should be posted saying that no drinks are permitted beyond that point. My friend wanted to finish her drink which is entirely fair given that we waited 25 minutes in line and paid $10 for it. There's no need to be outright aggressive and on a power trip when we were respectful. Keeping this man employed is a liability if he is that physically and verbally aggressive with customers. Will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I stepped out and forgot my ID inside. I explained to the bouncer that I would need to go get it. They manhandled me, a little 5' girl, and then called me a bitch. This behavior is unacceptable. I was sober, of age, and obviously not a threat. The bouncer working on 4/2/24 should be fired for their behavior. Ted's has lost the patronage of my large friend group. Square Peg will now be receiving our business for weekly trivia. And their food is better. read more

My friends and I had the worst experience at Teds. Not only did my friends and I order took longer than expected but all the food was stale and cold , containers were broken, some food was missing, and some of the food that was delivered was incorrect. The driver left the food outside in the freezing cold temperatures as well, and we live on a college campus. When calling to receive our food again the customer service was terrible, cutting us, hanging up on the phone while speaking and one coworker lying about being the manager. Then when the manager actually talked to us there was once again bad attitudes and not even a full refund being issued. Worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I will not recommend read more

There are few places that you fall in love with. Ted's is that place for UConn students. Amazing crowds, really attractive and friendly bartenders, unreal specials(nickel night, dollar pitchers, $5 bionic beavers etc) and great food (the BBQ chicken and onion ring pizza, Q steak sandwich it chicken LIP are so good). They also have events like black light parties, live music twice a week, trivia, karaoke, free shirts/mugs , and beer company giveaways. It really is the ultimate college bar and a UConn staple for almost 50 years. read more

A lot of drinking establishments have come and gone at UConn. But Ted's was always my place. I disagree with previous reviewers - I think the food is actually quite good here considering the circumstances, i.e. college bar that makes most of its revenue from beer and liquor. I enjoy the wings, the boneless "wings," the sandwiches, even the pizza is pretty good for the area. Ted's is unabashedly gross... but when a good bar is gross, it's not really gross, it's a "dive." And Ted's has certainly earned the positively-spun epithet. There's a few tables and booths, most of which are wobbly and broken. But it doesn't matter when your mental state is equally as wobbly and broken. Unlike other places, Ted's is actually enormously fun when it's crowded. If you need a breath, you're never far from the door. I last went here in 2011 to watch the UConn Basketball team make the final four, and the atmosphere was simply SENSATIONAL... And that's the greatest praise I can give Ted's. Even though I'm 30, and way too old for anything college-related, I can still see myself periodically going back to Ted's. read more

Have not been here in 25 years! Went to a UConn game on campus and hit Ted's for some beers and wings before the game. Food was good, beer was cold. I noticed that over time, they cleaned the place up a bit. It is still a dump, but a much cleaner dump. I didn't see any roaches, they replaced the rotted floor, and the walls have been hit with a dark stain. The bar was moved from the left of the bar to the back, which seems weird to me? Ted's has always been known for good music, cheap beer and good food. Don't expect anything more than this and it will be great. The beer selection is pretty good for a dive. The food isn't bad. The bouncers actively keep things under control and I'm sure that isn't always easy. People come here to drink and many of them do so with gusto! It's really all about who you come with (as opposed to who you leave with like in the old days!). Get a good group together and you'll have a blast here. Just be sure to have someone in decent shape to drive you home. One of the very few bars located on UConn campus. It is usually very crowded and conditions are very poor. Basically your local dive bar. Police show up often due to fights or other disturbances. The difference here is that UConn is a dry campus, and the other bars that are on campus are the same condition... Lack of competition keeps these places busy in their race to the bottom... read more

Oh yeah. This is as 'college bar' as you remember, regardless of which college you attended. The food is mediocre filler, more a conduit to allow more beer consumption. The place is a dive. The beer list is, actually, not that bad. Miller High Life on draft (Champagne of Beers, my friends), Harpoon IPA, and a few other decent drafts to boot! And yes, I meant "to boot" exactly that way. This is definitely the place to come to spend your parent's money, down a pregame brew, or generally re-live your college experience - the only difference is that now you're old, but at least that girl over there is still way out of your league. I did not come here often when I was a student, unfortunately, but I'm glad to see it's still a staple of the UCONN campus, especially considering all of the changes on campus over the past 10 or so years. My husband and I sat at the bar during off hours on a Friday and ordered a round of beers (as I'm sure no one wants a couple of people close to their mid-30s invading their joint during happy hour!). I ordered a Harvest Moon for my first beer and a regular Blue Moon for my second. He ordered an 8" spicy chicken cutlet sub and substituted fries for a side. I picked at the fries, which were as tasty as I remember them: medium cut with a crispy outside and soft inside. He was very happy to see that Ted's still has the 16" sub on the menu. Those subs were a staple for him during our time at UCONN. It was good to see this place still had great drink and food specials, like Nickel Nights. Though, when I was at UCONN, nickel nights were for most of the night...but it's probably no longer sustainable to have such low pricing too long today. The bartender was very friendly and willing to chat with everyone at the bar, no matter what age or background. I mean, don't get me wrong...Ted's is a dive bar. Don't expect fancy anything. The bathrooms are still dumpy looking with a lock that I hope works (and I'm sure after 11pm becomes at its worst state). But every college student needs that basic, cheap place to hit up after class (or when skipping a class...shhhh....I didn't say that). Ted's is the best bar on campus!!!! Without a doubt I find myself there every weekend. Sean and Britt are the best bartenders I've ever had. They are quick and so fun! Not to mention the bbq pizza is a staple and a must have. This place has made my college experience awesome! read more

During a cram session I had for a test, I got hungry and like most other college students I wanted a late snack. I searched up places near me that deliver and decided to go with Teds, I been there a week before for a club event and the food was decent. I called them up and the cashier that picked up sounded extremely aggravated and remained so the entire time I was placing my order. My order wasn't a large order, just a large pizza and mozzarella sticks. When I was done placing my order, the cashier told me the price (because I wanted to pay in cash) and that driver will be there in 30ish minutes and then just hang up, no thank you, no have a good night, nothing of the sort. I figured eh long night and decided to let it slide. I had some bad customer service before I figured that was the worst of it but nope, not even close. The delivery guy was just incompetent. I expected him to waiting for me with the food outside of the front door to my dorm, but when he got here he just sat in his car, expecting me to come out to grab my food from his car. I don't know if it's something unique here in UConn or something but every single delivery place I worked at I delivered the customer's food to their front door, not them come to my car door. It was starting to rain as well and I don't mind rain, but I was in my PJs and just didn't want to get wet since I originally thought it was a quick process. This wasn't the worst part too, he literally almost forgot to give me my pizza as well, I had to remind him that I also ordered a large pizza as well. It was LITERALLY on the seat right next to him with the receipt on it. The food was meh, nothing to write home about. So in the end it's really bad customer service for only okish food that you can find in any other of the places that deliver pizza. It's a decent place to come with friends if you want to have some drinks and stuff, but for late night cravings, I recommend you go try somewhere else like Sargent Pepperoni. read more
