Very good experience visiting L Bar. Just learnt about this spot after my office moved into the Boat Building. It is very convenient and a good spot for happy hour. The happy hour menu is great and so is the timing, 1PM for a start, cannot complain. Very good drinks and the bartender, she is excellent; friendly, gave us recommendations and also topped off drinks for some of us. Definitely coming back to enjoy more drinks and trying the happy hour food menu too. read more

I've been at the hotel for the whole week. This is the hotel bar. The first night we were here we asked for service and were told we needed to come to the bar to order due to staffing shortage. You would think there would be communication between the hotel and the hotel bar as to the amount of people that would be on site so they could staff accordingly. Service on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday was subpar. The servers were extremely rude to all of the guests because they were busy. There are ways to manage a busy crowd by still being kind and respectful. On Thursday night as I sit at the bar for the first time without the majority of the attendees that were with my party earlier in the week, it is a much different atmosphere. I sat at the bar and asked for one cocktail and a glass of water and it took nearly 15 minutes to get me a glass of water by the third person that told me they were going to get me a glass of water. Meanwhile, the manager who is floating around playing on the computer with glasses on his forehead, not once greeted me and attended to me in anyway. It's not busy in here on this Thursday night at all, but then Kim showed up who is the most attentive compared to anyone else serving in this bar. I ordered a salad and fries - hopefully they don't screw it up. If I had a choice, I would not come back to this hotel bar ever again. read more

I was in the area for a conference, and L Bar was more or less the go-to bar for the weekend. Overall, I had a great experience at L Bar - no true complaints from me. The drinks were strong, and the two women bartenders were very nice and quite fun. I cannot comment about their fancier cocktails, because I'm more of a gin and soda kind of guy. That said, everyone in my company did not seem to have any issues about their beverages. The prices are a bit on the upper range, but one should expect that when going to a hotel bar. read more

Everything was ok until I got the check. They had a drink menu that clearly said the drink that we ordered was $15. When I got the check, there was a $21 charge! When I inquired, the waitress said, and I quote "THEY made me use premium liquor". Timeout, who is "THEY" and furthermore, if something on YOUR menu is SIX DOLLARS more, you need to tell people BEFORE you make the drink. That wasn't cool at all. I totally forgot to tell my husband about this since he was in another part of the hotel with friends but when he came upstairs, he said I ordered another one of those drinks and she charged me $21! I'm getting upset just typing this. I may need to see about speaking to a manager. First time visiting this restaurant. The atmosphere looks good, small but quaint. What you can expect from a hotel bar/restaurant. I was coming from work so I got there a bit after my friends. They said prior to my arrival the waiter came by often and they told him that they were still waiting for a couple people, but when I arrived it seems like he was done coming over. I waited at least 20 minutes if not more for him to come over and the only reason he came over was because someone got up and requested for him to come over. We then placed our orders, appetizers and entrées at the same time, which for some reason all came out together. The French onion soup was good, the avocado and shrimp toast was decent. But everything else was lackluster. One friend ordered calamari, which for me, the rings were too big and too many fried vegetables. I shared a chicken Panini and shaved steak with with another friend, neither of which I finished. The chicken Panini was very bland and there was too much breading without meat in the shaved steak. I'm not sure how the other girls feel but I probably won't be back. Walter when he came was at least nice. read more

We just ordered some appetizers, the plates were dished nicely and presentable. The wings they were ok not too much credit, but nachos and tuna tartar were very good. I normally don't eat in the hotel restaurant and this is a case in point. The food here was lousy. I had the deconstructed beet salad, which was 2 chopped beets, a tablespoon of goat cheese, and a handful of arugula. The dressing was tasty. The calamari was absolutely tortured, overcooked, and like erasers. The bartender took it away and I got the tuna on toast, which was edible, but not good. My colleague got the onion soup which was ok, she said. However, she could not eat the wings she ordered, and we could see freezer burn on them. read more

We ordered a second round of calamari and after 45-50 mins we cancelled it and it took forever for them to return to check on us .. the food- The calamari was great and seasoned very well. What a boring place. This used to be more of a night life "lounge" and now someone had the idea to turn this into a boring Marriott bar. They didn't even bother to clean up the signs for the old "Crush" above the windows and this place has been open for several months now. Gives you an idea to the level of effort at this place. What a failure and waste, especially that this is in an up and coming nightlife scene area. No real reason to come here unless you are staying at the hotel and need a beer , and even then you have better options in the surrounding area. UCONN fan visiting from Georgia for the game versus Syracuse. On Friday night we went to the L Bar for drinks after eating out at Capital Grille across the street. Had to leave our table twice to go to the bar in order to get our drinks refilled as well as to get our check for the drinks. We went to the L Bar again on Saturday evening for a night cap. The place was about half full, but nearly every table had empty glasses and bottles on it. I went to the bar and waited about 5 minutes before being acknowledged by the staff. Upon doing so the staff cleared the bar. 4 rounds of drinks between four people and not once did a server come to our table. Each time, including our food order, we needed to go to the bar. In my experience the food was good, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. read more

We stayed at the Marriott for a nearby conference so L Bar was convenient for us (since it was in our lobby). All I can speak to is the dessert and drinks. The dessert sounded amazing when described to us and it looked great, but eating it didn't actually live up to the hype. My friend and I ordered the s'more dessert (I love s'mores so when I heard they were a dessert option my ears perked up)! However I wouldn't order it again. The graham crackers were hard and difficult to cut, the mini marshmallows were hardly roasted or warm and looked like they were just thrown on top with mediocre warm temperature chocolate sauce poured on top. It was underwhelming. My other two friends ordered the fried cheesecake. It looked amazing, but they said it wasn't that great. I ordered a glass of Merlot which was good. The mixed drinks were fine, nothing to rave about. I would only really recommend L Bar if you're at the hotel and in need of a late night snack or nightcap. But I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. read more
