I placed an order online for a pizza. Time specified for pickup was 6:34. The pizza was not ready until 6:53. Overall, its not bad pizza but unfortunately it was rushed and not cooked properly. The pizzamaker apologized and was much more pleasant than the bartender. The bartender had a very bad attitude and was rude. She never asked me if I wanted a beverage or anything to drink while I waited for the "past due" pizza. She missed an opportunity to turn the experience positive and instead made it worse. Mozzarella sticks were excellent, fried pickles were ok (I thought they would be crispy, they were not). Pictures of apps were of course after we dived in because I forgot. I did not get pictures of the entrees, but I HIGHLY recommend the BLT, caprese (mozz, tomato, basil) sandwich, and the sweet heat wings (they aren't lying about the heat). [[HIGHLIGHT]]To start off the night, we had 9 people crammed into a table meant for 4, with one person literally eating off a barrel next to us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were given two pitchers of water, but one of them was pink -- and when you poured it into a cup, the water was still pink, so it clearly wasn't just the pitcher itself. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly. The appetizers were actually good, but the entrées were a complete disaster. Somehow, 7 out of 9 meals were wrong. First off, it took forever to get our food, and the restaurant wasn't even busy. I ordered the tomato basil mozzarella with grilled chicken, and it came out without the chicken, so I had to send it back. We also ordered a slice of margherita pizza, which was basically just cheese with a raw piece of basil thrown on top. Calling that "margherita" should honestly be a crime. One person in our group had to leave before the end of the meal, and that's when we realized they never even received the slice of pizza they ordered. Two people in our party didn't get their food until 45 minutes after everyone else. One order was a gluten-free pizza with grilled chicken and buffalo sauce -- but somehow it came out with fried chicken on it instead. Since the person had a gluten allergy, the meal couldn't even be eaten and had to be sent back. The whole experience was unbelievably disorganized. Staff kept coming back to the table asking what everyone ordered, like they had no idea. Then, after waiting 45 minutes for a fried chicken sandwich, it finally came out completely black, like it had been forgotten in the fryer the entire time. Showed up on Friday night with a group and we sat at the bar (but it wasn't that busy) It took over 15 minutes just to get someone's attention. We ordered both drinks and pizza. Service was VERY slow and the bartenders/servers were RUDE. When they came out with our slices we had a question and she got angry at us because we interrupted as if she didn't know what she was doing. The pizza was burnt and not very flavorful. The Brownstone, previously Four Dad's Pub, was a stop on a happy hour hop around with friends. I like the no-frills atmosphere and menu. I tried the spicy friend chicken and bacon slice topped with hot honey which complimented the jalapeños. I was a bit confused when trying to order a drink because some of the drinks, specifically "The Bucket", were not on the menu. The bartender mentioned it had liquor but did not mention the entire thing was alcohol, be wary LOL. All around, a good time and great place for a slice and drink. read more

New workplace... downtown Hartford. First week means new places to try. I felt like pizza, and The Brownstone is a SHORT walk away. As soon as I walked through the door, I felt Friday night vibes. Dark enough for comfort, Irish pub feel. I placed my order and waited maybe 4 minutes tops. They're fast for the lunch rush. The pizza... thin crust, some chew, but that right amount. Toppings were excellent, and had enough heat to wake me up on this gloomy day. It's missing cheese. Kind of an issue, but they'll get a pass.
