House made chips are usually a hit with me, but when they're cold and stale - hard pass
Scott D.

I'm not sure if Corey Wry has anything to do with this place anymore but my first visit here fell short of my expectations in just about every way. Even though they weren't that busy it seemed to take a bit longer than I expected. Starting with the chili they charge $8 for. It is supposed to come with cheese, sour cream, scallions and tortilla chips. The bowl was not as full as it could have been for that price but it was missing the sour cream and scallions and no tortilla chips. As for the taste of it, nothing special or impressive and not many beans. For the price there's no way I would get this again and forgetting everything it comes with is a total deal-breaker. I got a Rachael sandwich which is typically supposed to be like a Reuben but with cole slaw instead of sauerkraut. I chose chips as my side but also added a side of cole slaw for $2 extra, which was also MISSING from the order. I paid for the extra side yet they forgot to include it. The sandwich itself was 'ok' but nothing like what i expected, there was no swiss cheese to be found and the Russian dressing was extremely light if it was there at all. Tasted nothing like what I'd call a Reuben or a Racheal because of these ommissions. The chips (house made potato chips) were cold from the minute I picked them up and tasted a bit on the stale side. So for a very pricey lunch it seemed to fail on every level. Perhaps my expectations were a little high, but even with none this was a 0 star meal. It's a nice enough restaurant inside and they do a number of wine dinners and have a variety of entrees and other things but after this, I'm not sure it's worth the trip even if it were more reasonable in price. Upon noticing everything wrong with my order I called the restaurant only to get an answering machine. Nearly an hour later and I haven't received a call back. Poor service, mediocre food and and absolute disaster on order accuracy. ZERO STARS!

The Brit cross-section

Pretty good burger, pretty nice if not tiny place I've been looking for more places to try, and The Hollow is one of those places that I generally overlook because I don't usually fall into the income brackets of the patrons of these locations. Today, I wanted to go fancy. So I looked up some fancy places and decided to go to this restaurant in a country club. First off, Not really fancy. It's small, being essentially the entertaining space underneath the country club upstairs. I came in my finest gaming decor and was given a seat in the far corner. The waitress/bartender had the unfortunate duty of having to go around the entire bar to address my table. which was a bit cruel since it meant every time she had to address my table she had to do a lap. Might've been easier to sit me at the bar and let me order from there. But either way, made due. I looked over their menu and realized that their food wasn't really fancy either. Burgers, Salads, wraps, and a couple of noteworthy entrees. To me, it was a little bit of a letdown. But I do like me my burger places, so I decided to get The Brit. A white peppercorn aoli, whiskey BBQ glazed beef patty with carmelized onions and cheddar cheese on a pretzel bun. I asked about their fries, told they were fresh, so I get the fries to replace the potato chips. Food comes out reasonably quickly, and I take some pictures and dig in. The burger was seasoned well! Everything had a distinct flavor and everything melded well. The onions were reduced down to a nice onion-y jam, the peppercorns were ever-present and gave the burger a nice zing. The whiskey bbq was potent and present, and the cheddar was just the right amount of sharp and stretchy. Burger was cooked to a medium rare, though I asked for medium. still cooked well, and I enjoyed the flavors presented. The weakest part was the pickle and the french fries. The waitress lied to me, told me they were fresh fries when they are clearly frozen bagged fries from Restaurant Depot. The fries themselves were fine, but if you're told fresh and you get bagged then that's a problem. The pickle was made in-house, but they either stored the pickles at the back of the fridge or froze the pickles beforehand. Lead to these translucent spots on the pickle, and the actual pickle flavor was a little weak. despite the flaws, the place was well kept. The burger was delicious, and it was only the minor details that made this experience not stellar. It's not a fancy place for a meal, but it's an option if you're shooting 18 rounds and need a bite to eat

Happy hour chicken slider $5

Definitely intended on giving my experience a 5 star review until receiving a notification from my credit card that I left a 123% tip. The restaurant put that I left a $54 tip on a $44 check. Giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming it was an accident, I will only take off 1 star. But make sure you check your credit card afterwards! I likely wouldn't have noticed if my credit card hadn't notified me. Aside from that everything was great. Service was great at the bar, our bartender was always making sure we didn't need anything else or want to order more food. We were there for happy hour and were impressed with the prices and portions. For $3, the sliders were absolutely delicious. I also had the tacos, which were decent, and my mom ordered the chicken slider which she was satisfied with. However, the star of the show was definitely the burgers as we suspected going in. I saw many people around ordering other happy hour food which all looked great (especially the quesadilla!). Drinks were strong and tasty. I would definitely return. Also a super nice view of the water which was an added bonus.

Lovely hide away find in Manchester at the country club. Thought it wasn't open because clubhouse was dark but glad we kept trying. Nice place with friendly crowd and fantastic staff. The happy hour food, although small sizes as happy hour price shows, were delish. Especially liked the quesadilla and flatbread.

Happy hour tacos
Sammi M.

I came here on a Tuesday afternoon to meet a friend for happy hour. I didn't realize that the country club at this gold course offered a happy hour and was excited to try it out! It seems they are doing a lot of construction and upgrading of a lot of buildings so it was very pretty looking. The outside patio near the water was especially nice. We were seated right away and you could have happy hour from any table, not just the bar, which was great. The happy hour menu was also pretty large with a lot of options. The buffalo chicken dip was especially good and a great deal for the cost. Some things like the tacos were a bit small for the price, but overall still good food. I'd recommend a stop in!

From the host Taylor to the food runner Aaron, to the servers Erin and Lauren, to the bartenders Ashleigh and Brooke and Bret, Adam, Tracy, to the cart girl Joelle, to the banquet staff upstairs, to all the hard workers in the kitchen working morning and night--- thank you!!! everyone here tries so hard to make a wonderful guest experience. This is one place that will always feel like home. The staff work to go above and beyond for everyone. I love this place

The ambiance was nice and cozy , good music playing in the background , not to loud and easy to have a conversation . To start off we got the Italian meatballs which were amazing highly recommend. We also ordered the mozzarella sticks which I loved the cheese pull was perfection and nice crunch on the outside , highly recommend as well . For my entre I got the NY strip . Served with mashed potatoes and green beans and topped with mushrooms and gorgonzola ! The sides were good but I really enjoyed my steak ! It was cooked medium rare , and the gorgonzola cheese on top was perfection ! I highly enjoyed it ! For dessert I got the tiramisu which was fantastic ( small portion) but very good ! Busy place for a Wednesday evening. Our server, Autumn, was efficient, pleasant, and attentive. My friend and I split rollatinis, which were very good. She also had the veal parm (her go-to meal at TT). I went for Grandma Lena's Sunday Sauce. Don't tell my doctor, but we also had four Aperol Spritzes. My first time; very refreshing. Rolls arrived w a saucer of EVOO mixed w spices. Her VP covered the plate...a very generous portion. Side of penne. My dish reminded me of my sister's best friend, Honey's Sunday sauce. A smorgasbord of different meats and other ingredients slow-cooked all afternoon. There was sausage, braised short ribs, a meatball, etc over spaghetti in a marinara sauce w a dollop of ricotta on top. Both of us took leftovers home. A couple of other things to mention. On Wednesday evening, TT features live music. On this day, it was a singer / guitar player. While she was very good, it can get loud, especially if you're seated in close proximity. Also, entrees took a bit longer to arrive. Maybe because of the crowd? Anyway, food was awesome, drinks potent. A relaxing way to spend an evening. 5 stars

I'm back! I love this place! It's quiet here ) it's only a Tuesday) but we're late (arrived at 9:15…read morePM). There is no shortage of decor here! I like the huge carafe of ice water and the spicy potato chips! For my first drink, I'm having a Negroni. A negroni is an Italian cocktail, made of equal parts gin, vermouth rosso (red, semi-sweet), and Campari, generally served with ice, and commonly garnished with an orange slice or orange peel. It is considered an apéritif. They also have an Obi Wan Negroni made with Cold Brew Infused Campari instead. For my first food item, I'm having the Cream of Mushroom soup with chicken. Cream of mushroom soup is a simple type of soup where a basic roux is thinned with creamor milk and then mushrooms or mushroom brothare added. This is delicious! It's nice and hot with a lot of shredded chicken. For my entree, I'm having the Brussels Sprout Salad made with shaved Brussels sprouts, spring mix, bacon, pomegranate drizzle, silvered almonds, shaved Parmesan and lemon vinaigrette dressing. Look at the height of this! This tastes great! I am also having a side of mushy peas. Mushy peas are a traditional British side dish of marrowfat peas that are cooked until soft and mashed into a mush. The dish is especially popular in Northern England and the Midlands, and often eaten with fish and chips or served as part of "pie and peas". Here's a quick overview of mushy peas: Ingredients** Traditionally made with dried marrowfat peas, but can be substituted with frozen peas or green split peas. I love this! It's nice and hot.,What a rare treat! This is hard to find anywhere! I'm also having a side of cold slaw. Coleslaw, or "slaw" in North America, is a side dish of shredded cabbage with a vinaigrette or mayo-based dressing. The word "coleslaw" comes from the Dutch term koolsla, meaning "cabbage salad". Recipes vary by region and can include additional ingredients like carrots, apples, raisins, or celery. Coleslaw originated in the Netherlands in the 18th century, but references to similar cabbage salads appear in ancient Greek and Roman medical texts. This is the best! Nice, thick dressing! For my last drink, I'm having a Godfather. The Godfather is a sweet and strong cocktail that blends Scotch whisky and amaretto liqueur. It's typically served in an old-fashioned glass over ice and can be garnished with an orange twist. The drink became popular in the 1970s disco scene and is named after the 1972 film starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. Some say bartender Joe Scialom created the Godfather to capture the movie's spirit. This is done just right! Good job! What a great meal here!

Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right downtown Manchester on Main Street is this gem where Lucky Taco once stood. It echoes the standard British pubs and taverns from across the pond with deep yellow lighting, woods, exposed brick walls and open floorplan kind of vibe. It was lively, energetic and welcoming! Service: Lara took excellent care of us and she was very helpful! I had no issues at all. Food/Drinks: On the table when we arrived was an Irn Bru which is a SUPER popular drink sold in Scotland, often beating Coca-Cola in sales. It tasted like orange licorice, but it was actually pretty decent. Our first appetizer was an order of Crisps which were like thick cut potato chips with some garlic parmesan seasonings which I actually enjoyed! There was plenty of flavor from each component involved. Next up was the 007 which was their spin on the martini James Bond orders! In it is Wheatley Vodka, Bombay Gin, and English Tea Infused Lillet Blanc. It tasted like a dirty martini and was pretty strong! Smooth as well. I enjoyed it. Next up was a dish called Toad In The Hole which is Yorkshire pudding stuffed with smoked sausage then topped with caramelized onions and gravy. I have never seen anything like this before, but it was so strange, but pretty decent! The Yorkshire pudding was a bit eggy and dense. The gravy was a must though, since the other components of the dish lacked the salt that I was seeking. Next up was the Cloth Of Gold Old which is an Old Fashion with a twist which contained Old Forester, fresh lemon and honey. I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure why the mention of Old Fashion was on the menu unless this is supposed to differ from an "Old Fashioned". No matter, moving on. Next up were the Potato Pom Pom which are fired potato balls served with a house-made cheddar cheese sauce. It sounds like a simple dish. The cheese was thick, majorly cheddar-y. I really, really liked these! They tasted like a fancy tater tot. The potato inside was so soft and tender and the exterior was so crispy. My last drink of the night was the Bramble On Rose which is their take on a 1980's classic created in Soho, London. In it is Bombay Gin, fresh lemon, rose water and blackberry syrup. This was my favorite drink of the night. It was fresh, had some herbal flavors and the rose flavor made itself known. I really, really liked this drink and would certainly order it again. Lastly, the quintessential Fish & Chips! It's Atlantic cod in a brown ale batter, served with musky peas, chips, tartar sauce and a curry sauce. The curry sauce was surprisingly fantastic. I was blown away and absolutely needed more of it. The mushy peas resembled guacamole, but I had no idea how I was supposed to eat them. Lol. Were they a sauce? I don't know, but they tasted exactly how you'd think they'd taste. The fish was also fantastic. It was light, yet greasy and crispy. Value: The most expensive thing on the menu is $22.00. This place is not expensive at all so you certainly won't break the bank. Portions are decent size too. In conclusion, I absolutely enjoyed myself here and highly recommend you (reading this) to check it out! British food is... unpredictable if I must throw a word on it. Lol. Like, I almost couldn't predict what some of this stuff would taste like because I had never had anything like it before! Now, I'm a believer!

Choices were limited to 'small and large plates', there was no appetizer section. We were asked "sparkling bottled ($$) or tap water?". We chose tap. Server brought an old-style quart-size milk bottle and small juice-size glasses. The water had no ice, so I assumed water was cold, it wasn't. I ordered a 'breakfast' stout, my wife coffee. Stout was served in a wine glass, not a traditional pint glass. Wife said coffee wasn't that hot. When they brought our beverages, wife asked for a napkin since none were on the table. Like most civilized countries, I like to put a napkin in my lap when I sit down in a restaurant. Apparently you need to ask for one here. Young server muttered something about place settings are brought when food is delivered. I guess an ale and coffee aren't napkin worthy. Not sure what they accomplish with this goofy policy. It looks more like some kind of cost cutting measure. We made reservations a week earlier, wanted us to confirm a second time through text the same morning. It led me to think this must be a popular place with people clamouring to get in. Once there, place wasn't bust at all, no waiting customers and a sea of unoccupied tables. Our guest arrived after we ordered our beverages. After a few minutes, I ended up flagging down a server to get her a drink. Another sign we were stuck with a 2nd or 3rd-string staff. Our aunt ordered a specialty drink from their menu; "champagne in a laundry basket", (looked more like laundry water in a wash tub). After taking our orders, paper menus were collected to be reused. Maybe they were saving money on copy paper. I kinda' wish she left one in case we wanted desserts or something later. They were keeping the table clear of literally everything. I ordered a humus plate for use as an appetizer, something to share and couldn't be screwed up while waiting for our main course. When entrees showed up, we all chose 'smoked sausage eggs-benedict', extra servers were in tow with plates, napkins and silverware, napkin place settings given after all plates were on the table. My wife was seated across from me, sitting next to her Aunt Nan. The first plate was placed in front of me. Even being the neanderthal caveman I am, I knew this was the most basic etiquette faux pas (I felt humiliated j/k). Ladies are ALWAYS served first, another red flag from an inexperienced staff. The 'smoked sausage' Eggs Benedict failed on many levels. It wasn't hot, poached eggs were both over and under-cooked- egg whites had chunky white snot, yolks were not runny. The 'smoked sausage', was kielbasa logs cut in half lengthwise, they were overcooked and impossible to cut without flattening and mutilating egg and muffin. They could be used as wheel chocks, I had to deconstruct it so sausage could be wrestled with on the side. Wife said the 'homemade' English muffin had the tap water taste like what we were served 'for free'. I couldn't help but envision a garden hose filling a mop bucket used for filling the milk bottles. The Hollandaise sauce lacked silky richness and flavor, I've had better with McCormick packets. Benedict was overpowered with the taste of the smoked sausage. This meal was our aunt's special treat for our birthdays. They did not finish their meals, leaving mostly the pieces of the hockey puck-hard sausage. Server had been touting the pastry chef for the home-made English muffins. They were not any better than Thomas's English muffins. I am a plate-cleaner by habit, I've even been called human garbage disposal, so I managed to clear this one, (except for the egg snot, it would've taken a straw to finish it). My wife always has leftovers I happily dispose of quietly, not this time, gave it a hard pass. I felt unfulfilled, I was food frustrated, so I ordered some bacon cheese scones and shared them with the table. They turned out to be the best thing we had, warm Bisquick quality with a good taste of bacon and cheese almost as addicting as Red Lobster cheddar biscuits. We consumed them like a pack of hungry wolves. I asked and was told they don't serve them with butter. These begged for butter. IMO, butter should already be on the table. My wife picked this venue for our birthday treat meal with our beloved Aunt Nan from MA treating us. I apologized to her for our disappointing choice. She said she was glad I said it, she didn't want to say anything to make us feel bad. With tip, the bill for 3 was $171.00. We could have had a better meal and service at an IHOP for a quarter of the cost, I know I would have felt more satisfied. This experience made onto my list of top 5 worst eating experiences.

Filthy Black Cherries are premium, all-natural Italian Amarena cherries, slow-cooked in copper pots and widely recognized as a top-tier garnish for whiskey and tequila cocktails, such as Old Fashioneds and Manhattans. Known for a sweet-tart flavor profile, they are a favorite among professional bartenders for their firm texture and rich syrup. It's known for being strong, sophisticated, and balanced, with a mix of spicy, sweet, and bitter notes. This is real good. It is nicely garnished and perfectly balanced. I think the bartender is the owner. For out first appetizer, we are getting the Fornarelli's Meatballs. The young hostesses were not very welcoming and didn't greet guests with a smile or provide direction on where to stand or wait, which made the entrance experience awkward and chaotic. There is no bathroom downstairs so you would have to go upstairs for the restrooms The restaurant was offering a $70 prefix menu, which honestly did not feel worth the cost. For that price, you only received soup or salad, an entrée, and dessert. I really think an appetizer should have been included considering the price point, especially for a special occasion like Mother's Day. We were seated downstairs near the kitchen, and it was extremely warm and uncomfortable down there during the meal. On a positive note, the service itself was fairly quick, and our waiter was very attentive and friendly, which was appreciated. Overall though, the atmosphere, organization, and value for the money left us disappointed. This did not include drinks and automatic gratuity was included in the bill since we had a party of 6.

It's def one of our mother daughter special spots. I'm on a mission to try everything on the menu at least once and I was told the Crispy Chicken cutlet was a crowd favorite and it's safe to say I agree and I could not stop talking about it last night. It's made with two chicken cutlets crisp to perfection giving you that nice crunch with each bite. Inside you've got flavors of peperonata, fresh mozz, smeared pesto aioli , arugula on a thick ciabatta roll. It's a mix of comfort and quality all in one. I really enjoyed the mix of all the vibrant flavors here. Pair it with their sweet potato fries and you got yourself a real deal of a meal! My mom got the Handformed burger cooked medium on a brioche bun . It consists half-pound patty, bacon, white cheddar, lettuce, pepper mayo, She said it was one of the best burgers she's had in a long time and she's a harsh critic so that says a lot. She also enjoys the sweet potatoe fries here as well . Ps every Wednesday is Wine night which is 1/2 price bottle of any wine of your choosing . We showed up not knowing that and we may just make it a Wednesday tradition "Wine down Wednesday" :) Our server Lauren was excellent , it was a packed house and you can def see they have quite a few regulars myself included. It makes you feel like it's the friendly neighborhood restaurant!
