I'm back! I love this place! It's quiet here ) it's only a Tuesday) but we're late (arrived at 9:15 PM). There is no shortage of decor here! I like the huge carafe of ice water and the spicy potato chips! For my first drink, I'm having a Negroni. A negroni is an Italian cocktail, made of equal parts gin, vermouth rosso (red, semi-sweet), and Campari, generally served with ice, and commonly garnished with an orange slice or orange peel. It is considered an apéritif. They also have an Obi Wan Negroni made with Cold Brew Infused Campari instead. For my first food item, I'm having the Cream of Mushroom soup with chicken. Cream of mushroom soup is a simple type of soup where a basic roux is thinned with creamor milk and then mushrooms or mushroom brothare added. This is delicious! It's nice and hot with a lot of shredded chicken. For my entree, I'm having the Brussels Sprout Salad made with shaved Brussels sprouts, spring mix, bacon, pomegranate drizzle, silvered almonds, shaved Parmesan and lemon vinaigrette dressing. Look at the height of this! This tastes great! I am also having a side of mushy peas. Mushy peas are a traditional British side dish of marrowfat peas that are cooked until soft and mashed into a mush. The dish is especially popular in Northern England and the Midlands, and often eaten with fish and chips or served as part of "pie and peas". Here's a quick overview of mushy peas: Ingredients** Traditionally made with dried marrowfat peas, but can be substituted with frozen peas or green split peas. I love this! It's nice and hot.,What a rare treat! This is hard to find anywhere! I'm also having a side of cold slaw. Coleslaw, or "slaw" in North America, is a side dish of shredded cabbage with a vinaigrette or mayo-based dressing. The word "coleslaw" comes from the Dutch term koolsla, meaning "cabbage salad". Recipes vary by region and can include additional ingredients like carrots, apples, raisins, or celery. Coleslaw originated in the Netherlands in the 18th century, but references to similar cabbage salads appear in ancient Greek and Roman medical texts. This is the best! Nice, thick dressing! For my last drink, I'm having a Godfather. The Godfather is a sweet and strong cocktail that blends Scotch whisky and amaretto liqueur. It's typically served in an old-fashioned glass over ice and can be garnished with an orange twist. The drink became popular in the 1970s disco scene and is named after the 1972 film starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. I got the opportunity to attend the grand opening of Audacity in Manchester, CT and here's how it went! (Sorry this is so late. Lol.) Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right downtown Manchester on Main Street is this gem where Lucky Taco once stood. It echoes the standard British pubs and taverns from across the pond with deep yellow lighting, woods, exposed brick walls and open floorplan kind of vibe. It was lively, energetic and welcoming! Service: Lara took excellent care of us and she was very helpful! I had no issues at all. Food/Drinks: On the table when we arrived was an Irn Bru which is a SUPER popular drink sold in Scotland, often beating Coca-Cola in sales. It tasted like orange licorice, but it was actually pretty decent. Our first appetizer was an order of Crisps which were like thick cut potato chips with some garlic parmesan seasonings which I actually enjoyed! There was plenty of flavor from each component involved. Next up was the 007 which was their spin on the martini James Bond orders! In it is Wheatley Vodka, Bombay Gin, and English Tea Infused Lillet Blanc. It tasted like a dirty martini and was pretty strong! Smooth as well. I enjoyed it. Next up was a dish called Toad In The Hole which is Yorkshire pudding stuffed with smoked sausage then topped with caramelized onions and gravy. I have never seen anything like this before, but it was so strange, but pretty decent! The Yorkshire pudding was a bit eggy and dense. The gravy was a must though, since the other components of the dish lacked the salt that I was seeking. Next up was the Cloth Of Gold Old which is an Old Fashion with a twist which contained Old Forester, fresh lemon and honey. I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure why the mention of Old Fashion was on the menu unless this is supposed to differ from an "Old Fashioned". No matter, moving on. Next up were the Potato Pom Pom which are fired potato balls served with a house-made cheddar cheese sauce. It sounds like a simple dish. The cheese was thick, majorly cheddar-y. I really, really liked these! They tasted like a fancy tater tot. The potato inside was so soft and tender and the exterior was so crispy. My last drink of the night was the Bramble On Rose which is their take on a 1980's classic created in Soho, London. In it is Bombay Gin, fresh lemon, rose water and blackberry syrup. This was my favorite drink of the night. It was fresh, had some herbal flavors and the rose flavor made itself known. I really, really liked this drink and would certainly order it again. Lastly, the quintessential Fish & Chips! It's Atlantic cod in a brown ale batter, served with musky peas, chips, tartar sauce and a curry sauce. The curry sauce was surprisingly fantastic. I was blown away and absolutely needed more of it. The mushy peas resembled guacamole, but I had no idea how I was supposed to eat them. Lol. Were they a sauce? I don't know, but they tasted exactly how you'd think they'd taste. The fish was also fantastic. It was light, yet greasy and crispy. Value: The most expensive thing on the menu is $22.00. This place is not expensive at all so you certainly won't break the bank. Portions are decent size too. In conclusion, I absolutely enjoyed myself here and highly recommend you (reading this) to check it out! British food is... unpredictable if I must throw a word on it. Lol. I have been to this pub a few times and have always had a good experience. This time I went to the bar for some "girl dinner." I got a side of mashed potatoes and a side of Mac n cheese along with a cider that was on tap. All of it was a very reasonable price. They were both delicious and surprisingly filling. The Mac n cheese was unique with flavorful cheeses. The bartender was great and made me want to come back to be served by her. The whole place has a very unique feel I side with a lot of British decorations. There is ample street parking and parking lots in the area. read more

Amazing authentic freshly prepared British food. We were blown away by the cod which was so fresh it tasted like it had just come from the sea! The portion was huge. My pie with chicken, smoked bacon and leeks was served over a huge pile of mashed potatoes. The gravy was so flavorful I asked for a second gravy boat full. It was so delicious I literally could have eaten it with a spoon. My step mother asked for her patty melt medium rare. Because it's a smashed burger it's usually well done but they specially prepared it for her. Pam, our waitress, was very cordial and obviously proud of the food. Delicious, authentic British pub style eats and probably the best pub food I've tried since the half door. My friend and I came here last night and sampled a few of their menu items. I hate to say but this is the first time I tried Yorkshire pudding. I knew what I was in for and I just have to say, it's not my cup of tea. Their scotch eggs though were amazing. Perfectly cooked. I just wish the egg was a little warmer. For our main meals, my friend had their fish and chips which was a huge portion of a very fresh and flaky hunk of fish. I tried their chicken cutlet with sun-dried tomato, artichoke and fresh mozzarella. We ended our dinner with a yummy bread pudding. I also want to mention the decorations around the dining area.. so cute! And a nice family friendly vibe with games too. All in all I will be back to try more of their fantastic choices! My husband and I finally checked out Audacity today, and we'll definitely return soon! Nice bar with plenty of bar space and some high top seating. Restaurant section had a good amount of regular tables as well. Our server was very friendly and helpful without being overbearing at all. A good tap list for a British style pub, with a lot of well priced (imperial!) pints. The food was fabulous! The complimentary crisps were perfectly crunchy and I loved the seasoning. We shared the fish and chips and bangers and mash. The fish was nice and flaky and the batter was crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and not too thick. The tartar sauce and curry sauce were both super tasty as well. The bangers and mash may have stolen the show though. Flavorful sausage with extra buttery mashed potatoes (we had all the potato food groups) and a really delicious caramelized onion gravy. If you have mobility issues parking could be a little tough. There is on street parking, but with it being on Main Street you have to get a little lucky. Otherwise there is a parking lot behind the building, but it's a bit of a walk. To describe it in few words would be ..British fare in a charming and inviting atmosphere and no points for guessing what we were going try. The classic Fish and Chips.... fresh Atlantic cod...crispy humongous and served with a delightful curry sauce and mashed peas...absolutely a winner! You see, football (a/k/a soccer) is a big attraction here, and by the time we left after our fantastic lunch the bar was full of football fans eating and drinking while watching Liverpool defeat Brentford 2-0. Audacity is totally British with big Union Jacks at the storefront's exterior to greet you, hundreds of Union Jack streamers and national flags inside, an image of the iconic red British phone booth on a door, quite a few decorated electric guitars on the walls, a big Beatles poster in the Unisex restroom, and of course, plenty of British food on the menu. So, if you're a fan of Yorkshire Pudding, Toad in a Hole, Scotch Eggs, Cottage Pie, Bangers and Mash, or Chicken Tikka Masala, you'll love it here. Chicken Tikka Masala? Yup, the menu, and our server Robert both said it's the national dish of the UK! Audacity has a nice Happy Hour Tuesday to Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 and all-day Sunday, and those HH prices will make you happy indeed with five food choices in the $7 to $9 range and seven beer/wine/cocktail choices in the $3-$7 range. Our server Robert started us off with a bowl of complimentary house made crisps (potato chips) and entertained us with a description of the pub, its food, its cocktails, and the British condiments on the table -Malt Vinegar, HP (for House of Parliament) Sauce, and Heinz Salad Cream (ranch dressing with a vinegar kick). We went with a $7 Masala Grilled Cheese from the HH menu "grilled garlic and chive Naan stuffed with Fontina and American cheese served with a mild Tika Masala dipping sauce". It was very good, and the dipping sauce really added a lot of flavor. I went to their regular menu for their version of Chicken Tikka named "Mandu's Masala" ($18). It was a generous portion of tender sauteed chicken cubes in a tomato yogurt cream curry served with Naan and Basmati Rice. You can order the curry "mild or spicy" so of course I went with the spicy. It was sneaky spicy and left a very nice afterburn. The portion was big enough that half of it came home with us. A Coke Zero for $3 made our lunch total a few pennies over $30 after tax. We really enjoyed the vibe, décor, and food at Audacity. Service was good and Robert was both charming and helpful, with multiple checkbacks. Excellent on all counts. read more

Best fried chicken sandwich ever. It's called The Cooper. I'd put it up against any chicken sandwich, including my grandmothers. The executive chef is renowned in Hartford County, so when you get there, after 5:00, immediately ask what the specials are. If you're thinking I want British food, the Fish and Chips is about to be named best in the state. Any items listed under Pub Grub, you can't go wrong with. The service is great, from the hosts to the owner and everyone in between, they all have a smile and are ready to explain anything. Can't forget the bar and bartenders. They seasoned the food, and it was great. Came back for another attempt. Came during lunch so things were quiet. My server was slightly nervous but was very kind. I ordered the scotch egg and fish and chips platter. I also got a summer cup drink as well. The drink was light, refreshing and not too sweet. The table chips were fried fresh and had lots of pastrami seasoning. The fish and chips were seasoned well, crispy coating on the fish and properly cooked steak fries. Because of my dietary restrictions, I'm only really able to eat smaller portions. They not only accommodated this, but made sure that the portion was appropriate for me and charged accordingly. The stars were the scotch egg and gravy. The sausage was meaty and not greasy and the egg was cooked to a perfect soft boil. The gravy was stellar. It was so good I question the gravy I got before, which was a major disappointment compared to what I got last. Salty, meaty, not goopy, properly made and seasoned gravy. Give me a poutine with that gravy and I'll be a happy man. Nitpicks, there's a few . The drink I got had mint but it wasn't muddled. The lemon cucumber combo needs that menthol cooling sensation to really shine. I fixed that by crushing the sprig of mint in the drink. Worked fine. The coating on the fish was a little dark. So the friers could be a little hot or food was left in a little longer. It didn't impact flavor though, so no harm done. The mushy peas were fresh, grassy, and rich due to the heavy cream mash. Needed a complimentary flavor to lighten them up. Salt or acid would've helped. But they were very tasty regardless. Overall, a very great experience this time around. As a Brit living in the area, I can confidently say Audacity British Pub absolutely nails it. We've been several times now and have never been disappointed--this place is the real deal. The fish and chips are a standout. The batter is crispy and flavorful, and the fish is perfectly flakey--exactly how it should be. If I could make one small tweak, it would be to swap the fries for thick-cut, homemade chips, but even as is, it's a solid 9/10. The chicken, leek, and bacon pie is bang on--served just like you'd get it in London, on a bed of mash with rich gravy. Proper Cockney style! It honestly took me right back home. We also came in for Sunday lunch the other week and it was absolutely fantastic. I can't tell you how happy I am to finally have a taste of home here. I'm giving it 4 stars, and I will definitely be back and anticipate my rating will increase to 5. We went on a Wednesday night - around 6. The restaurant had lots of customers, but it wasn't packed (I imagine weekends would be crowded). Interior is very nice. There are 3 sections - the lounge/game room, main restaurant & bar. Food was very good. My husband had the fish & chips. I had the British chicken sandwich- curry & mango on a croissant. Opted for Cole slaw as my side. Creamy version & really good. Stopped into this little slice of the UK, and it was total pub-style vibes. Manchester United and Chelsea flags set the tone, and the layout was pretty unique with three separate entrances all leading to the same spot: one for the bar, one for the dining room, and one for a game/living room area. The game room was a cool touch with board games, tabletop shuffleboard, and even big Connect Four. We chose the dining room and started with the potato poms--super cheesy and tasty, served with a delicious side of pub cheese. Just a heads-up: they're very hot temperature-wise, so proceed with caution. For dinner, we had the cottage pie and fish and chips. The cottage pie was okay, but the fish and chips stole the show. The batter was hands down the best I've ever had, but surprisingly, the real MVP was the coleslaw--creamy, flavorful, and just perfect. Dessert, unfortunately, was the only letdown. It was a heated-up muffin served with toffee and ice cream. While the ice cream and toffee were great, the muffin itself was dry and unimpressive, even with the toppings. Went in for Happy Hour during Veterans Day Weekend (fitting as the place is Veteran Owned). Service has improved greatly and the food came quick. I got the Fish N Chips Bites and a drink. For the total of $12, It's a good value and the food tasted great. I also got chips to munch on and they were also very good. I don't any complaints to be honest. There is something wrong with this establishment and their kitchen cooking. Will not be back. This is the 4th or 5th time out of maybe a dozen times total I've been there that there is a burning issue from the kitchen which seems really, really unhealthy. It's all consuming and nasty, gets stuck on your clothing, hair, everything no matter where you are in the establishment (i.e. not necessarily right near the kitchen area). Noticed it when we walked in tonight and there was a blueish haze near the back of the room. We figured eventually they'd have fans or exhaust that would clear up the issue eventually. No, it stayed for the hour or so we were there. When we eventually left my eyes started burning with the fresh air hitting this film on my skin, I also started coughing once I left the place, which I haven't been sick or coughing earlier today or recently at all. Then I got home I had to immediately wash my clothes, had to shower to get the stink off of me, I haven't smelled this awful leaving a bar since there was cigarette smoking in bars/restaurants. I'm putting this review out there because, again, this isn't a one time thing, it's happened multiple times and is something I never experience in any other restaurant, even being seated next to a kitchen. There's something that happens in this place where they clearly have no or little exhaust and burn things over and over or something catches fire and the smoke and smell permiates the restaurant. Tonight I think they may have had some fire of sort in the kitchen to create this as this was the worst yet! Also the bartender was absolutely terrible, she completely ignored my friend and I. Had one beer and then literally had our two empty beer glasses in front of us for about 10 minutes before she even noticed or asked if we wanted another. She kept waiting on whatever friends or regulars she knew otherwise. Being former bartenders ourselves this was outragous in how bad it was with a total of 8 people seated at the bar and the restaurant was NOT busy where she was overwhelmed with drink orders. We had our 2nd beers and waited 15 minutes with a credit card out on top of one of our empty glasses (clearly we wanted to cash out) and she completely ignored us, talked and waited on people around us....once we had put our jackets on for literally 5 minutes, standing, waiting for her to notice she finally did and cashed us out. Horrible experience, will not be back due to this service and that smoke stank issue they obviously can't figure out to get ventilation that would ensure that never happens outside of the kitchen area in such a large place. Spotted all the British flags so thought we'd stop in and give this restaurant a try. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server, Mark, appeared shortly after being seated and explained a number of things to us in great detail as this was our first time. We started with fresh chips hot out of the fryer and tried the HP sauce, Mark's suggestion, with them and found the combination addicting. We ordered the potato poms to start with. Came out piping hot on a bed of greens and a side of cheese. Excellent starter! Entrees were the Cornish pasty and bangers and mash. The short patsy crust was soft and flaky and the filling was chunks of sirloin, small cubes of Swede (rutabaga), potatoes, and onions on a nice bed of mashed potatoes and a side of brown gravy. Amazing flavor combinations. A definite winner! The bangers and mash were excellent as well. Two pork bangers, imported from Ireland, on top of a bed of mashed potatoes with caramelized brown onion gravy. Dish had a sweet taste to it from the onions which added great flavor which made it that much more enjoyable. Another winner! Dessert was a warm toffee pudding topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Like everything else this was amazing. Mark, our server, was very personable. Walked us through both sides of the menu. One side is cocktails, etc. the other is the food. He provided updates on when our food would be ready and checked in to make sure everything was as expected and if we needed anything. He even delivered drink refills (soft drinks) without being asked. One of the best servers that we have had in a long time. We will be asking for him on our next trip back and there will be many more of those. Atmosphere is very British with plenty of activities, shuffle board in one room, foosball in another, a huge bar room and two dining areas. Seating is a combination of high top seating, booth seating on one side of the table and padded metal chairs on the other. The booth seats look very comfortable but the metal chairs not so much. The back rails can dig into your back if you're a big guy, which would make it difficult to sit for an extended period of time. Menus are black and it's a little dark in the restaurant so if you have trouble with that you may need you phone light to provide enough light to read it. All in all a fantastic addition to downtown and I can imagine that on a weekend night the place would be packed. Tough for me to give 5 stars but this earned that rating because of Mark and the quality and authenticity of the food and restaurant. read more

Stopped by for a drink and try a couple appetizers w friends as I've been wanting to check out this British Pub new to the Manchester area. After hearing about the Scottish eggs it's definitely a must have when you're visiting this pub. I've never had anything like this and with the gravy drizzled on top it made it complete. The Yorkshire pudding was very good tasting and an added touch as well. Next time I want to try the fish and chips as I hear it's wonderful. The whole atmosphere of being in the pub makes you feel like your across the ocean in England. Also had a Malibu bay breeze which I halls to ask for a mother one as it didn't taste like a normal one but the wines were very good and the bourbon. Definitely have to add it to your list. A welcome addition to restaurant options in the Manchester area! Fun atmosphere, excellent service, and a menu of classic British dishes made from scratch. Everything we ordered - Toad-in-a-Hole, Bangers and Mash (the mashed potatoes are killer), Chicken and Leek Pie, and Sticky Toffee Pudding, was delicious. Will definitely eat there again! read more

Stopped in the other day to give this restaurant a try. This location used to be Lucky taco (which I miss). They did a nice job renovating it. Good atmosphere and all the workers seem very friendly. The bar was jampacked and enough TVs to catch some sporting games. My wife had a margarita which was good and I tried the cocktail from the menu obi won negtoni which I have to say was maybe the worst drink I have ever had, wow is it bad. I had the cottage by which was good and we also tried the fish n chips which was really good. My daughter had the bruno burger which was also good. Menu is not that big but enough I guess. All in all good place but Im just not sure British food is for me. read more

Skip the cod/haddock in lemon butter sauce. Can't remember which fish it was, the sauce was pretty flavorless. It did come with two sides so I chose the glazed carrots and the mashed. The mashed potatoes were however, the carrots were flavorless similar to the sauce. The buttery breadcrumbs on the fish were nice, but not enough to give it enough flavor. Fish and chips are amazing. Ok service, our sever never came back to see how our dinners were. And it was not busy. Will definitely go again to try other menu options including dessert which we were too full to try. read more

Ambiance was good - the vibe was fun and the furniture comfortable and stylish. We dined in on a wed night right after opening so we expected slow service, which it was. No worries, server was friendly. The crisps that came out first were very tasty, she ended up bringing out several refills - the dish they are served in is as small as a condiment dish. Water glasses very tiny too but they give a water pitcher for the table. I ordered a scotch egg but they were out so I go the salad and added chicken. We also got the fish and chips and the fried chicken sandwich. The salad was tasty - slightly overdressed and a small piece of chicken but the flavors were spot on. Chicken had a slight curry flavor but tasty and tender. Lots of Bibb lettuce and toppings. The chicken sandwich was flavorful and well done. The fish and chips unfortunately were over breaded making the fish hard to bite into and the breading was pretty hard and crusty -Not the light and flaky effect we hoped for. Still, would come back and give it another shot as the fries were tasty and everything came out looking very delicious. One side note - the Prices on the menu were a little all over, some meals as low as $13 and some high $20s/low $30s was odd. But overall the meal for us three without drinks was only about $60 which is very fair these days! read more

Surprisingly, good. Heard mixed reviews... but our experience was fantastic: food, ambience, service. Scotch eggs were ok. Not great, slightly thin on the sausage, but gravy made them good and eggs were cooked to perfection. Masala and cottage pie were the items ordered by our party of four... bother were phenomenal. Scott and Alana were attentive and timed check ins perfectly. read more
