Perfectly cooked boneless chicken wings.

The Old Well Tavern just seems to continue to improve with age. We've always enjoyed the foot here and having grown up in town with the owner & his siblings, just makes frequenting this local establishment even sweeter! The Old Tavern frequently agrees to co-hosting fundraisers, tonight was A Promise to Jordan, which is a cause close to my heart. So tonight we ordered dinner, lunch & then some. I have to start with Smoked Brisket Sandwich! It is the best thing I have eaten recently. Just look at it! The bun was fresh and soft, the brisket was perfectly-cooked, thick slices of meat, covered with BBQ sauce and cheddar. It was so good I abandoned my plan to eat only half... I kept telling myself, one more bite. A must try! My husband ordered the Sausage & Pepper special and also could not stop himself, and polished the huge portion up! He loved it. I hate to admit this, because they're one of the most popular menu items... I keep ordering them, but that's because I forget I don't care for them too much. The cuts of meat is great and they're cooked perfectly and can be pulled apart with your fingers should you try. They always have a bottled Smokey flavor that is too strong for me. That said, these have been on the menu for *years* and they are sometimes sold out. I keep ordering them, and the flavor hasn't changed (so I need to stop ordering them ), but what that tells me is that Everyone Else must love that Smokey flavor! So try them if you love smoked flavored meat. The brisket had the perfect amount of smoke flavor for me. The Rueben and Boneless Chicken wings are old reliables... always amazing. Great serving sizes and always perfectly cooked, never dry. The tater tots were also delicious. I love knowing we have the chicken & Rueben for lunch tomorrow.

Great Sunday Prime Rib special that comes with vegetables and garlic mashed!! Nice cut and very tasty and you get it with some nice horseradish sauce. I finished with cookie monster sundae!! Yuum!

Appetizer sampler

Was visiting family in Connecticut and we went here because it is one of their favorite places and I have to say it was really excellent food and barbecue, a lot better than I thought it was going to be. We got wings, burnt ends, sampler appetizer, and sampler barbecue everything was great. We'll definitely be back again to try their famous burgers.

A great casual pub that offers the best wings, burgers, and prime rib in the area. You won't be disappointed. Get the wings "Gary's way".

Bad service, below average to at best average food and brutally awful ambiance. The prices aren't desirable either.

The bartender there was so helpful with my food order as I asked what he recommended and he gave me numerous choices to go with. He suggested the wings and pizza which I took his advice. I ordered the 4 boneless wings for $5.00 along with the medium size pizza for $17. I went with the boom boom sauce on the boneless wings and i really loved the flavor and fresheners of the wings. The iron horse also makes their own blue cheese dressing. I also went with the thin all American style pizza crust 1/2 bbq chicken and 1/2 buffalo chicken as I couldn't decide and wanted to try both. I feel the Buffalo chicken would be more flavorful with their homemade blue cheese dressing drizzled on it too. I also ordered their $1 slice pepperoni pizza to go for my kids. I really enjoyed everything i ordered. I especially love their boneless wings they make and if you haven't tried yet the boom boom sauce you must. It's a combination of chipotle sauce and ranch dressing. Definitely will be back to try more food during happy hour. The place has a good size bar area and offers great specials for drinks. They just opened the patio that they have as well. There are other locations available to visit. Unionville , Bristol.

It's a fairly clean restaurant/ pub serving pizza and pub food type of dive bar The layout is kind of funky and a little bit dark, with what looked like a very limited number of booths. The booth, my friend and I sat at was right next to the door, which I don't like, but it was the only one available. This place is more of a pub, grab a beer or some pizza and some chicken wings Prices are reasonable, the wait staff was very friendly and accommodating I ordered a chicken sandwich that was soy and bourbon infused, with a side order of onion rings My friend ordered a standard house salad with house dressing. My friend asked for coffee, which they don't have because the coffee machine was broke. So ice water it was for both of us. Hmmmm The food arrived rather quickly, the chicken sandwich was good not great. The sandwich was ona specials menu for $16. The roll wasn't anything to write home about, the chicken was OK, the good thing was it looked fresh and tasted fresh. I liked the soy and bourbon infusion. The onion rings were generously portioned out and were really good, with a nice simple side of ketchup. My friend enjoyed the house salad with the house dressing, and they did serve some bread on the side, which was very nice Overall, I don't think this is really a must visit, go to lunch spot, but if you're gonna go to a concert across the street, this would be a great place to grab a drink or beer and some appetizers chicken wings or pizza Easy parking, clean restrooms, handicap, accessible

Highly recommend. The bacon cheeseburger was huge with a thick patty cooked, medium to medium rare and was delicious with toppings, ranging from pickles and onions. Perfectly done absolutely delicious. I chose a side of cut fries that were crispy on the outside and soft and delicious on the inside. For fries that were delivered to my house from the restaurant They survived the trip well. The seafood combo was half a dozen large fried shrimp, and one large piece of fried white fish. The batter was light and perfectly done and very tasty on all of the fish. It came with coleslaw as well as tartar sauce, and the tartar sauce was very good. Overall, these three dishes were well prepared, delicious and worth the $56 for all 3.

I had the scallops with risotto which were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. Hats off to anyone who can cook a risotto well and they do it perfectly. I started with clam chowder that while could've been a little hotter, was thick and delicious. Other people in the party had eggplant Parmesan, which reportedly was terrific, chicken Parmesan that was cooked beautifully with lots of grilled chicken a lovely marinara that was topped with lots of cheese and spiced. The ancient grain risotto was again fantastic, and anyone who can cook a risotto well deserves kudos. The dessert I had the strawberry shortcake that wasn't too sweet and had a beautiful flavor of fresh strawberries throughout with lots of whipped cream. The Keylime pie was tart and delicious. The Brooklyn layered chocolate cake was tremendous layers of cake and frosting. It was just a perfect rendition of a chocolate cake. Last but not least was the coconut cake which rivals my favorite coconut cake in the world from Max A Mia. The Abigail's version was a bit lighter, but equally as delicious with coconut frosting that really hit the spot and is worth the trip back. The bill came to $317 and with a $60 tip for outstanding service and a wonderful Mother's Day meal

We took advantage of their Happy Hour when we saw all of their appetizers and draft beers were half price after 4 pm. Our two Shocktops were a paltry $3.50 apiece for a very generous pour. We went with ten chicken wings (Garlic Parmesan) for $7.48 and a cheese quesadilla with chicken for $7.98. The food was top notch -big meaty wings and a very tasty quesadilla with plenty of grilled diced chicken. We have to give a shout out to our young bartender/server Sean who was excellent. I also ordered an espresso martini, and it was definitely a one-and-done kind of drink--in the best way possible! What kept this from being a 5-star experience was the cook coming out from the back around 11:30 to scream at the bartender and patrons that the kitchen was closed. I just don't think that kind of behavior is acceptable, regardless of the circumstances. There's a way to communicate that without making customers uncomfortable. But if he was responsible for the wings he gets a pass in my book.‍ ‍ Another thing that caught my attention was the police sitting in the parking lot right outside watching people leave. It gave the impression that the establishment wasn't exactly welcome in town. I don't know the backstory, but it certainly added to the overall atmosphere of the evening. Would I come back, though? ABSOLUTELY! The food and drinks were on point, and one bad moment doesn't erase an otherwise great experience. Keep pushing to be the best version of yourself, JXC! The photos online do not accurately portray what you encounter when you walk into the Winged Bear…read more My son and I expected an artisanal pizza-and-bar atmosphere with wings, sandwiches, and a few entrées. Instead, the lights and sounds of what felt like Chuck E. Cheese on steroids smacked us squarely in the face. Between the beeping and buzzing of pinball machines and children running around having a wonderful time, we quite literally almost turned around and left. Thankfully, our server asked whether we would like to sit outside--and the moment we walked through that door, it became a completely different experience. The patio was charming, the summer evening was perfect, and the staff was reasonably attentive. Outside, the restaurant felt much more like the casual pizza, bar-food, and entrée concept we thought we had found online. Since "Winged" is in the name, we naturally came for the wings. If I were comparing them with wings from a serious tavern or wing joint, they would rank toward the bottom. Compared with typical pizza-shop wings, however, they were decidedly upper crust. They were cooked perfectly, the Buffalo sauce was excellent, and the barbecue sauce was flavorful without being overly sweet. The blue cheese dressing was not remotely close to homemade--a major disappointment for me--but we still enjoyed the wings for what they were. J. Timothy's has nothing to fear, but these were very good pizza-shop wings. We also ordered calamari on a lark. It was cooked properly and perfectly fine, but neither distinctive nor especially flavorful. My son had the roast beef panini with horseradish mayonnaise, which was very good for what it was. I ordered the wild mushroom pizza. The crust was surprisingly spectacular, although the pizza itself was very heavily cheesed, noticeably short on mushrooms, and lacked any discernible hint of the rosemary promised in the description. Still, it was good overall. If we happened to be in the Simsbury area, we might return--provided we could sit outside. However, we would not make the drive from Canaan or Watertown specifically to visit it as a destination.

Farley’s Pub - after dinner goodie

"It's a family affair Ain't nothing but a family affair"…read more(Sly and the Family Stone) It's understandable if you are confused about this restaurant. You see, it used to be known as Farley Mac's, but now it's known as Farley's Pub, so what's up with that? The change has to do with one owner buying out his former partners' shares to now run the business as a family-led venture. But besides the name and ownership change, most things (but not everything) are the same - the staff, bartenders, cooks, and core tavern menu remained identical. What's different are improvements at the rear of the building where the bar and outdoor patio seating have been expanded, modernized, and look fantastic. We were big fans of Farley Mac's food and friendly vibe, and after yesterday's lunch for three, I'm happy to report that we found the same winning combination at Farley's Pub. It might even be better thanks to our cheerfully friendly server Tom. He just happened to be from the same Long Island town as my wife, so we had a great time reminiscing and swapping stories about that. We asked him for some menu recommendations and he instantly mentioned a few. We took two of his recommendations - a grilled cheese and pulled pork sandwich (Slow cooked BBQ pulled pork, cheddar cheese and bacon on grilled sourdough bread) with fries ($17.50) and a Farley Burger (8 oz. charbroiled Prime burger) with Tater Tots ($17 + $2). I ordered a Chicken Fajita Salad (Grilled chicken, cheddar jack cheese, diced tomato, sautéed peppers and onions, tortilla crisps over mixed greens with sour cream and salsa for $21.00). The grilled cheese and burger were quite large and half of each was enough -the rest were packaged up to take home. My salad was very good, and the sauteed peppers and onions added some great flavor to the chicken. Soft drinks were $3, and Tom impressed us by bringing out refills on his own without us asking for them. He did the same when he brought out our "To Go" boxes for the leftovers. And about those great Happy Hours we remembered from Farley Macs? Well, they continue at Farley's Pub from 3 to 6 with deep discounts on food and drinks. Hope to see you there, because we definitely will be back. PRO TIP We received a cute Irish shamrock candy as a parting gift. Sure better than those crappy red and white pinwheel starlite mints you get everywhere else!
