But they mismanaged a tournament which resulted in getting out an hour after our tee time. It took over 3 hours to play 9 holes because the starters had no concept of course management and certain holes were backed up 2-4 groups deep at points. When we told the starter he just said "wow" very rudely and sarcastically, no sense of customer relationships whatsoever. To top it off we called ahead to pick up lunch at the turn on 8 and when we got in the cook hadn't even seen the ticket. We will not be playing here again, despite being regulars in the past.

The course is in fantastic shape and in a picturesque setting. The autumn foliage was still present and many holes were simply breathtaking. Oh but those hills! I am 64 and in good shape. I always walk and push a cart. Next time I will definitely rent an electric cart! I was nearly exhausted by the end of 18. The woman in the golf shop was super friendly and super helpful! A true people person whose love for golf and the course were obvious. One of my favorite courses in Connecticut. I will definitely be back!

We went to lunch with two friends, one of whom is a 100 y/o WWII veteran. Dave, our server, was especially respectful when, after noticing the Veteran's hat, thanked him for his service. That meant a lot. I'd also like to mention Amy, who was very accommodating. Keith, the manager, was, as always emplary... he took the time to come to our table and speak to us. That also meant a lot! I have to say that the fish and chips are the best I have ever tasted. Crispy fish outside and tender inside... also, the fries were SO good! Crispy and seasoned just right... Its buried in the woods in my home town of South Hadley, MA. The course is private, so you'll need to know a member to get on. Its fairly expensive even if you do. If you end up playing here, though, you'll be treated to one of the best 18 holes you can play in Massachusetts. This course is very well maintained, and very challenging. There are almost no holes that you can survive with an innacurate tee shot. The course itself is very long, and has difficult shots around its very protected greens. The course was designed by Donald Ross, and you can see some of his trademark elements still in the design. If you' have enough money to become a member here, I would seriously consider it.

Welcome to Drive 45 where your credit card and a big metal machine (that reminded me of the ice cube freezers you see at your local convenience store) will get you a self-service basket of balls. Pricing is reasonable -a Small Basket of 30 balls is $8, Medium of 45 is $12, Large of 80 is $16 and Jumbo of 175 is $22. Oh, and you'd better bring your own clubs, because there is no office to rent them, let alone buy a bag of Doritos or a Gatorade or anything else. There were plenty of hitting bays and our grandkids (who brought their own clubs) had a blast flailing away trying to reach the first marker flag.
