The greens I wasn't thrilled with though--there was a huge chewed up spot on the green of the very first hole (big no-no). They seemed to be pretty inconsistent in terms of speed. While the greens could have been better--I was a fan of the layout. There are a few good drives over water, risk/reward par 5's, shots over valleys and well placed bunkers. The holes aren't overly long and the course demands accuracy much more than power. I played for $35 on a Sunday so it wasn't too expensive. Not as challenging as Tower Ridge (just down the road) but definitely cheaper. It's more fun than tunxis and cheaper too. I would say the best course to play in simsbury for a budget conscious golfer--from what I hear it's in much better shape than Blue Fox Run.

The course is in fantastic shape and in a picturesque setting. The autumn foliage was still present and many holes were simply breathtaking. Oh but those hills! I am 64 and in good shape. I always walk and push a cart. Next time I will definitely rent an electric cart! I was nearly exhausted by the end of 18. The woman in the golf shop was super friendly and super helpful! A true people person whose love for golf and the course were obvious. One of my favorite courses in Connecticut. I will definitely be back!

If you end up playing here, though, you'll be treated to one of the best 18 holes you can play in Massachusetts. This course is very well maintained, and very challenging. There are almost no holes that you can survive with an innacurate tee shot. The course itself is very long, and has difficult shots around its very protected greens. The course was designed by Donald Ross, and you can see some of his trademark elements still in the design. If you' have enough money to become a member here, I would seriously consider it.

Welcome to Drive 45 where your credit card and a big metal machine (that reminded me of the ice cube freezers you see at your local convenience store) will get you a self-service basket of balls. Pricing is reasonable -a Small Basket of 30 balls is $8, Medium of 45 is $12, Large of 80 is $16 and Jumbo of 175 is $22. Oh, and you'd better bring your own clubs, because there is no office to rent them, let alone buy a bag of Doritos or a Gatorade or anything else. There were plenty of hitting bays and our grandkids (who brought their own clubs) had a blast flailing away trying to reach the first marker flag. You'll have an enjoyable time on a very pretty facility. Just remember to bring your clubs, and a credit card.
