I'm a member at The First Cathedral Church in Bloomfield, CT. I volunteered today to be a part of the Pillar Community Development Corporation, 20th Anniversary Tournament. My church has been sponsoring the event for the last 25 years. We will be celebrating the 25 yrs Sept 13, 2019. I was very excited as this was my first time at a golf course. I have a new found love for the sport golf . Today the Pillar Community Development Corporation, 20th Anniversary Tournament was held at Wintonbury Hills Golf Course. The golf course has been around since 2004. I was extremely impressed with the accolades. #1 Public golf course in CT, Golfweek Magazine. # 6 Municipal golf course in US, golf.com. There Highest Rates, Fri, Sat, Sun & Monday's $79.00 with ca complimentary golf cart. They have a Pro Golf Store where you can purchase whatever you need from head to toe male/ female. They have a restaurant called The Tap Inn Restaurant. Let me tell you the food is really delicious and the prices were very reasonable. We had a huge buffet spread of grilled hamburgers ,grilled hot dogs w/sauarkraut roasted chicken pieces. St. Louis Style ribs. We had 2 choose salads, potato salad and pasta salad and baked beans. Lettuce, , onion, American cheese. Freshly baked chocolate cookies that were devoured before I could get one. I guess that says a lot. All the food was absolutely delicious. #OMG I shared earlier in the day some of their freshly cut French fries with Minister Jackie they were out of this world banging and the ribs were so tender and flavorful. Thank you to all the staff and management at Wintonbury Hills Golf Course. Thank you Colin the mixologist/waiter who has been employed with Wintonbury Hills Golf Course for 5 years and he's been employed there since he graduated from high school. He was very informative about the menu and he loves his job. Jennifer a waitress at the golf course restaurant and she was so sweet and informative as well about the menu, brunch menu, and the Event Menu. She raves about the head chef Joy. I found everyone friendly and welcoming, very helpful and professional. It's a very clean establishment and I will definitely be returning and looking forward to enjoying several dishes off the menu. The restaurant hours are from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. To all my yelpers and all who view this review. If you're in the Bloomfield, CT area and you want to play some golf , they have a beautiful golf course and afterward you can enjoy some drink specials and great food. Until my next foodie Adventure #FOODIE4EVER #4THELOVEOFFOOD.

Amazing spot. Great public course with beautiful views. The greens were a little tough. The cart for snacks and beverages came around often so that was awesome. Came here for vacation. Would love to come back in the future!

Unbelievable breakfast at The Tap Inn restaurant.

Best breakfast I've ever had! The Tap Inn restaurant at Wintonbury Hills golf course is open for breakfast weekends only. The best kept secret in town. It's a must try. Molly, the waitress was so accommodating! French toast was out of this world!

I never played golf in my life before 9/12/2015. My friend's family has a charity golf event annually and I was cajoled to participate, which I did willingly. We arrived about an hour before the shotgun start and had time to chat up the super nice bartenders (not too shabby tap selection, btw) and have a sack lunch (anyone else think of Seinfeld when you hear "Sack Lunch?"). The staff was excellent in getting us all organized and the carts were all set up for us. Oh, the carts!! Being that this was my first time golfing I assumed that these carts were standard but apparently they're not. These bad boys have built in gps and they're designed to warn you when you're headed into a zone where the cart will shut down on you (in the rough). The carts also have info on the holes, will tell you if you're lagging behind other golfers...they were just cool. The course was very well taken care of. There were zero water hazards and what I thought to be few sand traps. At the end of the day we had a nice buffet dinner with pastas, salad and steak. They even set up a little bar out on the patio for the group as well. Cool place.

Very nice course with fast greens serving as the primary challenge. Par 3s play long. Fairways pretty diseased but still well maintained. Pro shop guy was rude to say the least on 8/30. I've been all around and never had the "guy" at the register be so blatantly unfriendly about common courtesy, explaining the driving range "situation" or even processing payment. A total jerk. Then, my cart still had beer in it from the last participant so not sure about how cleaning protocols are being followed. Arrived 30 minutes early to warm up, but credit card payment was not working on the range and we could not get balls until a kind member swiped his key for us. Probably not coming back.

So close but yet so far

The course was in great shape, with a highlight being the green complexes which are interesting and challenging. The driving range was also well maintained. The only negative aspect of the experience was a the pace of play. There were many single players which put a lot of pressure on our group of two, even though we were playing a scramble. I think this will no longer be an issue once the front nine reopens and players are more spread out. Would recommend.

Course: Pretty nice course, very hilly with challenging holes. Management: Some of the worst I have ever seen even for a public course. The tee times are too close together (8min apart). There is no starter on a Saturday afternoon and worse yet, no ranger to keep up the pace of play. It took us a little over 6 hours to play 18 holes...absolutely brutal. Overall: I would look at other courses in the area, you would expect more from an Arnold Palmer course, but it looks like they care about the name on the website more than the course and players.

The atmosphere is very open with high tables and high stools - some of the stools are available with backs for greater comfort. This night it was open mic night and there were a variety of guitarists/singers performing throughout the evening. The facility has their own kitchen and the facility was able to provide a variety of appetizer bites- burgers- personal size pizzas- hotdogs and salads available for cost. There were plenty of choices of beverages alcoholic and nonAlcoholic. All of the food could be ordered via your phone and paid through your phone. We were a party of 12 and we had a great time!!

The vibe was chill, and the setup included both indoor and outdoor seating. It felt more like a casual hangout spot than a destination, very chill. It was like a Parkville Market or low-key brewery, but without its own beer or signature vibe. The bar only had one bartender, which made for a super long line so I ended up skipping a second drink. I do not even remember what was on their menu but they are supposed to have food trucks. The day we were there the truck was very late so we did not have that experience. We had popcorn and hot dogs. Great, fresh popped popcorn! I did notice a lot of kids running around outside, which as a parent, I appreciated. It's good to know this is a spot I could bring my kid on a sunny day and still enjoy some adult time outdoors. One major con? The bathrooms. They were in the basement, and the whole setup was kind of weird. Think padlocks on doors, maze-like hallways... Would I go back? Yes, maybe, but only on a hot day with live music and good company.

I was grateful to attend Tumble Brook Country Club in Bloomfield CT …read more It was set out to be an elaborate dinner for a party of 100. Not sure if their holding hot box did not hold proper temperature but all hot food came out lukewarm. The duck with parsnip purer was mediocre at best . The duck was not browned off enough and came out warm . Parsnip puree was excellent flavor but also cold . The vichyssoise soup was very lite to no leeks at all . Thank god it was served cold like it was supposed to be . The pollack was supposed to be halibut filet but we received some other mystery fish that was non digestible . It did have a very nice thermadore sauce that was on point . Again, it was all served cold with some rice pilaf that was NOT pilaf and 3 haricot vert beans that were peeled . Then the salad , it arrived cold as it should have Belgium Endive filled with blue cheese . The frisée did not help the dish along with the raspberry coulis , it was a raspberry coulis . Several components missing . The salad needed work . Then came the petite Filet Mignon ( cold) with an instant red sauce reduction of some sort that was cheated , baby carrots were good but cold & the French cut potato -all cold . The lemon sorbet was good , topped with a fresh raspberry with a brown sugar crust on the rim . The dessert course was vanilla ice cream with a pignoli tart . The icream of good quality creamy , tart was a bit dry and looking for the pignoli nuts . This was supposed to be a French Dining experience honor the father of cookery - George August Escoffier. Wine was paired with each course - some were winners and others were mediocre at best . Service was excellent , cocktail hour was on the money , the selection of seafood on ice was a winner , carving station of veal loin , pork loin with choice of sauces was very well executed . The passed horduurves were all very well done . The Italian charcuterie of cold cuts and cheeses were very good and displayed nicely . The gulf shrimp were perfect size and peeled - U-15 shrimp are always a home run . I don't do oysters - too much risk involved in oyster consumption. Please bring a flashlight as the parking lot at night has NO LGHTS . Good luck finding your car . Recommend going back and giving them a second chance. It is a hidden gem .

The room was decorated tastefully, the food was outstanding and the overall service was an 11 out of 10! The view of the golf course wasn't bad either! I was surprised to find out that the function area isn't much different than a community center or Elk's lodge. It worked fine for the simple affair. There was an old-fashioned locker room for the bride to get ready in. It was not what you would have expected from a country club but if you are looking for a simple, cozy place to host a party in West Hartford, this is a good option.
