Minnechaug was one of my favorite stomping grounds back in the day, as it was cheap and quick. Overall the course itself is fun, usually pretty decently maintained and very affordable. If you are a very serious golfer, it's probably not for you. If you're an average golfer just looking to get out and have some fun on a quick 9-hole course, give it a shot. If you're a bit below average and want less hassle and stress over pace of play.. a good option here.
The course yardage itself is fairly short and, as noted above, only 9 holes, but it has some memorable moments and fun approaches. Holes eight and nine are both short Par 3's with significant water hazard potential. Probably the most fun ones.
TiP- Bring a couple crappy balls you won't mind losing and maybe keep those ProV1s in the bag for hole 8.
The clubhouse has had some improvements since I had last seen it, and now houses the second location for Giovanni's Pizza. The setup gives you a good spot on a deck to have a pint and a slice or two after your round (or before) while watching others tee off on the first hole. You can sit inside instead as well. Parking isn't always great, so car pool if possible. read more
